One of the worst and horrible place i have ever been to for shopping. When i say i have dealt with them lots of time, doesn't mean they got my business everytime. I have been living in Chicago for the past 15 years and i have stepped inside their store only twice. One time i entered this place only to check on KAL MADHIWALA since they never registered my AC with Trane and Trane refused to honor 10 year warranty on my AC. Dan Raysby stopped responding back, Kal promised he would talk to Trane, but then he also stopped responding back, so i had to go all the way 35 miles to this crappy store . Horrible place. Rest were online experiences. Inside store were the worst. First time, i stepped into their store around 6 years back to buy an AudioQuest HDMI/ optical cable.. Spoke to a guy, maybe he was having a bad day, told me that cable doesn't come in this length and then started browsing on his screen, assuming i would leave. I still kept my cool and requested him to please at least check it at your website since i did see it on your website and i need it today. He said" well i have never heard of this length that you are talking , but lets see", cable was indeed listed on ABT website and i could see embarrassment on his face. He didn't say a word, and i just wanted to get the cable and go my way. So after paying, i went to pickup section. The pickup people told me , its not in stock, i told them well it says in stock and you CS sold it to me after making sure it was in stock. Their answer was , well we don't know who sold you this and can't help you. Seriously, i asked to speak to pickup section supervisor. That guy was even worse. To not escalate the situation, i went back to CS who sold me the cables. He came to pickup section with me , CS and Pickup section supervisor started to have a heated argument. I was in awe. But the worst part was when the Pickup supervisor started starring at me , Like it was all my fault, like he wanted to beat the crap out of me, really? OH YES ABT, your wonderful customer oriented service. I stepped in, and told them to give me whatever is available , i will just pay the difference and will leave. Anyhow, received the other cable and left the store. I was shocked at this experience. DONT YOU TELL ME THIS IS FURTHUR FROM TRUTH ABT.YOU LIE, I DONT. Never stepped back inside their store, until recently i was looking for Pansonic UB9000. It was out of stock on Amazon ( the best company in the world) Keeping in front my last experience, i called first to make sure they have it in stock, and wanted to ask few basic questions. Once assured its in stock and on display, i was still skeptical to go back in, but thought, maybe their customer service improved. There was 1 guy sitting in audio section, i approached him, and asked for Jason. His reply was " what do you want". His name was David. I told him , i am looking for a blu ray capable of good video/sound quality with a good DAC. Davids reply was " what is a dac". His behavior was like i am wasting his time, he was really not at all interested in helping me, I politely asked him if he could at least show me bluray, all he showed me was x700m ( cheap sony 179$ bluray). I was not impressed, i saw another CS representative helping another customer, giving him full attention. David came back to the seat where he was seated before, told me " Well cds, blu ray are dying media, no one ask questions , i don't know anything about them" and started looking at the computer monitor. At this moment, i waved my hand and said Never Mind. At this moment, I have decided to completely take off this business from my list. " I did talk to another guy and manager and but i was in no mood to give these people another chance. This was my only 2nd experience at this store. Horrible place. ABT DONT YOU TELL ME THIS IS FURTHUR FROM TRUTH. DONT GIVE ME BS OF FAMILY OWNED BUSINESS. THE MOST DISGUSTING COMPANY. MY EXPERIENCE ON FEW OF THEIR APPLIANCE DEPARTMENT ENDED IN SAME BAD EXPERIENCES WITH DAMAGED PRODUCTS BEING SOLD. I HAVE ATTACHED THE PICTURES. Oh one more thing, Amazon had it back in stock , and i bought ub9000 yesterday. YOU WONT BE MISSED ABT. YOUR APPLIANCE DEPARTMENT AND CUSTOMER SERVICE BY FAR THE WORST. I was about to order a full suite of four kitchen appliances from Home Depot during their recent Fourth of July Sale. I had everything in the cart ready to push the button, but for reasons too complicated to go into here, I became unhappy with Home Depot and decided to look online. I googled something like "Best On-Line Appliance Stores" and found an article stating that Abt Electronics had been rated best across the board for several years in a row. I read through the reviews and found them believable, so I called them up. Their prices were about the same as Home Depot's sale prices, so I asked who would I deal with if something arrived with a problem. The salesperson said to call them and they would take care of any problems. I just filed that one away and proceeded to order. The salesperson was very helpful. On one item, they did not have the identical model I had chosen at HD, so he upgraded me to a better model at no cost difference. Also, GE was having a rebate of $400 if you bought 4 kitchen appliances out of a specific selection, and the salesperson helped make sure I ordered the GE slate appliances that met the rebate qualifications. Turns out, they did not charge either shipping or sales tax, so I saved another 10% there! The appliances arrived in Phoenix, the nearest large city, in just a few days and a smaller freight forwarder brought them the last 100 miles to Sedona a few days later. Those guys were also great. They unboxed everything and removed all the trash. They helped check for any damage and moved the appliances into the kitchen. I had elected to install the appliances myself. They even helped me get the old fridge into the garage. The install went fairly smoothly if not quickly. After a few days, I noticed that the oven door looked crooked. The gap on the top was quite uneven. I looked in the manual and online without finding much. So I phoned GE and a customer service guy suggested I remove and replace the oven door. This was an easy task on our old GE oven, but they like to mess with success and make things more complicated. Once the door was off, I could not get it back on. The GE guy told me to register the range online and make an appointment for a warranty service call, which I did. After a week, the service technician arrived and was not able to get the oven door back on either. He thought the hinge(s) were somehow sprung or damaged and said he had to order new ones. First GE had to authorize that, and finally they arrived but were the wrong part in the right package! So the repair place said they would have to order them again. PITA. By now the range was three weeks old and we had not gotten to use the oven yet, so I asked the repair shop owner if he thought there was a chance that GE would just replace the range. He said. "No way. They usually require more that 10 service calls on a single issue before they will even discuss replacement". I was not convinced that the new hinges would fix the problem, so as a last ditch effort, I called Abt's customer service department. I really did not expect anything since I had already had the range for three weeks without reporting a problem to them. A pleasant lady answered and I told her my story. She said that she would check on the possibility of a replacement and get back to me shortly. I think within an hour, she phoned back and told me that a NEW RANGE HAD BEEN SHIPPED FROM THE GE DISTRIBUTOR, and that they would pick up the broken one when they delivered the new one! It arrived in Phoenix within a few days, but just missed the local carrier's weekly trip up to Sedona. So today, the same pleasant delivery guys arrived with a new range and took away the old one in pieces. I am pleasantly blown away to see such incredible and caring customer service from an on-line store with super competitive prices! We bought these new appliances before putting this house on the market. When we settle in our new house, if it needs new appliances or anything else Abt sells, I will be on the phone to them again. They are my "Go To" store from now on! read more

Read my review if you like stories. I've been shopping at Abt for years. It's to the point I can't even count the number of accounts I accidentally created with them with different email addresses and phone numbers from the different stages of my life. The reason why I feel so loyal to this company is because the standard of care and feeling of responsibility the owners seem to have for their customers. This is where the story turns. I had my first, I'll call it "unfavorable" experience earlier this week when a product I had purchased 3 of, was not working the way I had expected. I went back to the store to sort it out and because the issue with the product made a pretty big impact, I came in frustrated and devastated. I was literally crying speaking with a tone of frustration, that most people would probably have been deterred by me. Not Louie Igyarto. He let me get all my frustration and concerns out and then he told me how bad he felt and that he didn't want me to cry. I actually felt so seen by him in a way only my therapist usually makes me feel, haha! He then offered a solution to me right away with his managers approval and I left feeling incredibly grateful. Then my second "unfavorable" experience happened but this time my issue was with a service employee. My dad had a dash cam installed yesterday but did not receive the amazing customer service my husband and mom received when they had theirs installed. When my mom and husband had theirs installed, they raved about how patient and kind their technicians were and how they were educated on their purchase. Not my dad. My mom and dad came to me today and asked me to install the app and explain the process to my dad because it was not done for him, even when he asked. Apparently that tech was also rude when speaking to my parents. I didn't really know how to use the app either, so we went back to the store and I asked for help but used my moms car since hers got disconnected (we think from lack of use). I unfortunately ended up with the same technician my dad had, and he was so mean and unwilling to help. I have no idea what his deal was. I didn't even know he was the same person that my dad interacted with until he told me himself in a rude way. I felt fed up and thought maybe this was it for me and Abt. I was so sad thinking my family and I may no longer feel comfortable shopping here anymore. Abt has helped furnish many homes and cars in our family, so it felt like losing a trusted friend. I then remembered amazing Louie. I knew I couldn't just move on to a cold hardened big box store when sweet amazing Louie is whom I can purchase from. So I decided to go back to the store to give some feedback. I just felt so wronged that I had to share my feelings and experience in order to move forward. I spoke with the manager James Senne who immediately apologized for the experience and asked if he could help me resolve anything. He seemed so genuine and authentic in wanting to make me feel better and that he cared about my feedback. It's a reminder that Abt is different than other stores and the reason why I will keep coming back and why I will recommend the store to anyone. Moral of the story is that Louie is who you want to make all your purchases with. He actually cares and it shows in the most empathetic and authentic way. I think he is only in the mobile or car accessory department but I don't care; buy it all from him. James as well, he has an amazing ability to make someone feel appreciated even though I started my conversation with him with so much anger. Shoutout to Jake at the service desk as well for being so kind, patient, and eager to help. Those 3 are the perfect representation of commitment to great customer service. The apparent incapacity of a company to competently install a refrigerator despite subjecting the customer to seven technician visits indeed constitutes a perplexing predicament. We were coerced to reconfigure our schedules, sacrifice valuable work hours, and grapple with the incessant disruptions occasioned by the technicians' recurring domiciliary intrusions. At this juncture, my faith in ABT's capacity to deliver a product of commendable quality, coupled with proficient technical support, has been irrevocably shaken. Shahab is highly skilled, detailed oriented, and consistently provides us with outstanding, creative and responsive service. We depend on him to deliver, and he has each and every time-no matter the situation or deadline. First, Shahab is very knowledgeable of the products he sale and their working process. He designed an incredible surround electronic system for us utilizing speakers, subwoofers and amplifiers. He also assisted us in selecting a Sony Master Series 83 inches TV, that we just love! Shahab projected a great sales presence while we were in the store. His smile was contagious and always noticeable. His mindset seemingly was on "aiming to please" us as customers. He was pleasant, respectful, and responded positively to all our needs. He gave us his complete attention, and we felt comfortable working with him. Moreover, when we had an issue or mix-up with our purchase, he had our back and worked to resolve the problem. Upon presenting the problem to him personally, his response, without hesitation, was "I am on it" to assist us. We were truly impressed with how timely he responded and considered this as being one of the most critical components of good salesmanship. He consistently followed-up with our calls, regardless how busy he might had been. We owe him a big thanks. Following home installation, we were also impressed and will never forget how Shahab made a personal trip twice to our home, and ensured our system was working as designed. He went to great lengths to determine whether we were pleased with our products and enabled us to become more knowledgeable and competent with their working process. We are family now and give him five stars for being so thoughtful. Shahab also put together an amazing technology, and software product design installment team. They were Eric Higman, and Eric Eaton, who were very knowledgeable and extremely competent. He promised us that we would be happy with this team. He made good on his promise because they were outstanding! Needless to say, we are extremely pleased with having Shahab as our salesperson. We are also happy with our TV and the electronic system he has designed. In addition, we are pleased with Eric Higman, and Eric Eaton, as being the most impressive technology, and software product design team ever! One of the stores in Chicagoland that best sums up the success of the small-business model, though they are so good at it they can't be called a small-business anymore. Abt Electronics operates on the principle of total customer satisfaction. For this reason they never opened any store beyond that one Abt, though many years ago they moved into a much larger building to accommodate the skyrocketing demand for their store's business model. In all my many years buying here, (I'd say since before the year 2000,) I had one negative experience, and the kid giving me trouble was overruled by the manager. They will try to satisfy the customer unless the customer is being beyond unreasonable. For example, they had a gigantic 78th anniversary sale recently and this extended to the Mac laptop I've wanted for some time. I came there to window shop, and though the sale had been over for a week, the sales guy told me they'd give me the sale if I bought in the relatively near future. This was not a small sale; 5% off the Mac, 25% off the warranty, and a Lo-Jack device. So, I would guess a solid 150 bucks off total. The store is beautiful architecturally and stocked to the brim with high-quality merchandise. They don't do anything less than high-quality here. It is perfect for stopping by and window-shopping. Compare that to Best Buy, where you're "greeted" by a guard at the door who is saying "hi" but really he is saying "I think you will try to steal from us." The prices are a bit higher than elsewhere, but Abt will do their best to honor your warranty and fix any problems. Back before iPods, I'd get CD players here, they would break down, and Abt would always honor my warranty. Despite the higher prices, the customer service and guarantee of top service should your item give you problems keeps me, my family, and my friends coming back time and time again. I had the unfortunate experience of dealing with ABT, and I must say it was an absolute nightmare. They were supposed to install a refrigerator for me, but it turned into a never-ending saga of disappointment and frustration. After a whopping seven attempts, they still couldn't get it right. The first time they came, they seemed completely unprepared. The technicians were clueless, and it felt like they were learning on the job. They left my kitchen in a mess and the fridge still wasn't properly installed. I thought, "Okay, maybe it was just a one-time mistake," but boy, was I wrong. Subsequent attempts were no better. They rescheduled multiple times, causing me to take time off work and disrupt my schedule each time. The second and third visits were just as bad as the first. The level of incompetence displayed by their team was mind-boggling. How hard can it be to install a refrigerator? The worst part was the lack of communication. They didn't bother to keep me updated on the progress, and I had to chase them down every time to find out what was going on. It's as if they had no respect for my time or my needs as a customer. By the fifth attempt, I was beyond frustrated. I spoke to their customer service, but it seemed like they didn't really care about my situation. They promised to prioritize my case, but the next two attempts were just as disappointing. It's like they didn't learn anything from their previous mistakes. At this point, I had had enough. I decided to cut my losses and hire a different company to install the refrigerator. It was a hassle, and I wasted so much time and energy dealing with ABT. I would strongly advise anyone considering their services to think twice. They clearly lack the skills, professionalism, and respect for their customers.
