Happened to come during restaurant week, so my friend and I decided to check it out. At first, I was a bit skeptical about the quality and authenticity of the food since it's situated so closely to the college center, but I left the restaurant loving it! I believe our waiter was newer to the position (just from a conversation we heard) but he was very on top of everything and checked in constantly to make sure things were okay! The food was also delicious! We ordered a ahi tuna negra, salmon taco plate, and carne asada taco plate. The ahi tuna negra was probably my favorite - it was a surprisingly refreshing combination with the avocado, cheese, and the tortilla chips! The salmon taco plate was a second favorite just because I don't think I've really tried combining cooked salmon pieces into a taco, and it was pretty good. Drink wise, we ordered a Mexican candy to try and it was pretty sweet, as expected. Would try another drink next time because they seem to have a good amount of options to choose from! read more

Our server was great, he had the whole bottom floor to work but still did great with checking on us. Agave House is on a busy college street with lots of open windows to people watch. We enjoyed our tacos and the rice was great. My marg was also really good. read more

Everything was so good! I couldn't picture everything we had, but it was all very delicious. It's been hard for my family and I to find good Mexican restaurants, so this one pleasantly surprised us. I got the Red Cheese Enchiladas with its side of Charro beans and rice. I can't stop talking about the Charro beans. The cheese was really salty, so the beans were a good palette cleanser. The rice was yummy, perfectly flavored. My own dad's rice is the best, but this one was definitely up there. I had the East Side Mocktail too, and it was very refreshing and tangy. Essentially like an agua fresca. My family members had the Carne Asada tacos, the Pork Pibil bowl, and the Chicken Adobada bowl, and they all really enjoyed their meals. Service was excellent too. Hostess was friendly, waiter was very knowledgeable and even double-checked with us if an item was too spicy and made swaps without prompting. All in all, a great experience. I just went here for the first time on Saturday and really loved it. The food was delicious and those patio misters are delightful. I had the salmon tacos. One small complaint is that one some of the salmon pieces they Grey nasty part was still on it making it super fishy tasting and I had to take out the salmon and cut it off myself. Other than that it was well seasoned. Great selection of cocktails. Husband had the steak tacos and they were perfect. I will absolutely eat here again! read more

Everything. Wrong. Server took forever to wait on us. One of the persons in the party didn't even get their food AND was charged for it. I had to ask twice for our sever. The guacamole was decent but the set up was weird, you really had to dig to access it in the bowl. I ordered a prickly pear margarita and it was good, the bartender def didn't skimp on the liquor! Kirren our waitress was sweet, apologies if I misspelled your name! I ordered a quesabirria, a salmon and a calabacita taco and honestly wasn't impressed by any of them. I asked for no jalapenos on the salmon but as you can see from the photo, it's still there! That Mexican rice was delicious, ate every scoop! Decent Mexican right at the edge of campus! My seat was a little dirty, the staff checked in us an okay amount for how our waiter seemed to be juggling the bar and our table. I don't think I would've tried this place for a long while except that I was tired and so was my daughter, that we popped in just to find out what we thought of it and actually it was surprisingly decent, way better than another "taco bowl" place down the street. I had the Carne Asada tacos. Their red salsa was a bit spicy -requested the tomatillos (green) -it was very good. My daughter got the chicken tacos which seemed OK. I think I preferred their Charro beans over the black refried beans. The rice bean combo plate for tacos is definitely worthwhile and delicious. If you're on the fence about this place, it won't let you down. I just wish they had a blonder beer than what I got, something like a Kolsch or an Einstock or even a Pacifico. The Blonde beer was an Ale and too heavy for me. Interior setting was much better than how it seems from the outside. read more

I love how open and modern the restaurant is - it's definitely a vibe. Service was great and friendly and food came out pretty quickly. I'm obsessed with the Ahi Tuna Negra. Came here on a Tuesday evening. The location is good. Right by campus. Our server was pleasant and attentive. I had the guacamole and chips to start. It was spicy and very limey. I had horchata to drink and it was good. The perfect amount of sweetness. For an entree I had the birria taco plate (2 tacos with rice and beans). Tacos were good. I did the cilantro rice instead of the Mexican rice. I did not enjoy the beans they had a sharp kind of bitter aftertaste. The decor is nice. They have outdoor and indoor seating. The food was flavorful, I just didn't like the cooks been on their cellphone while cooking. I don't know where that cellphone has been if you know what I mean. There was a lot of flies around and I have to keep worrying about them been around my food. Finally someone notice and give me something to keep the flies away. I always start with appetizers, beginning with ceviche & cucumbers coated in tajin and never make my way to the actual menu. They also just got an edible printer for their cocktails, and it's definitely the coolest thing for a special occasion like birthday, or anniversary. You send your photo in to a QR code and it prints. Here is a photo of my husband on my coconut margarita. They also use 21 seeds tequila in this specific drink & it's out of this world! This place was awesome! Everyone was super friendly, they had upstairs, downstairs, and outside seating - we sat upstairs. I got the green chile chicken enchiladas with Spanish rice and charro beans, and an elote (roasted corn). The corn was my favorite. The green chile sauce was a little spicy for my taste but the chicken was so tasty with the cheese that I was still able to enjoy it very much. I typically don't eat anything spicy. My husband enjoyed his pork chop very much too. We really liked it here, from the hostess with cute hand knit hat ghat greeted us, to all the servers who looked like they were enjoying themselves working, down to the variety of food and the taste. Brand new restaurant on University. Very easy to get a table during dinner hours right now, I think they take call in reservations but not through their website right now. Lots of staff seemed to be training which makes sense because they opened 4 days ago. Great drink menu with a variety of margaritas. The decor is very modern with beautiful chandeliers and art work. Recommend the Queso, it's not a dipping Queso and very thick but delicious. Also the ceviche was perfectly seasoned. I got the ahi tuna as my entree because it looked so good on someone's instagram. I've been eyeing this place for awhile and if there's a better time to visit, it's when college is out for the summer and finding parking is a bit easier. There was an event indoors when we arrived so we were offered either upstairs or on the patio. We opted for the patio and luckily it offered plenty of cover from the monsoon rainstorm that erupted while we dined. We ordered the flautas that were more like tacos to start off with. What a great new spot! Ambiance is upscale and sort of trendy. Parking can be difficult in the area but, we managed to find a decent spot fairly quickly on a Sunday evening. Service was prompt, helpful and our server was training someone new. Both were excellent. Guacamole was excellent - seemed to have a bit of citric acid to give it that extra zingy flavor. Chips were on the thicker side and I think made from flour which I love. My husband prefers more of a corn chip. I had the sweet potato tacos and enjoyed their fresh light flavor. I liked them best with the mild salsa. My husband had tacos too that he really enjoyed but for the life of me I can't remember which ones he had. The star of the meal for us was the dessert called corn cake. It was similar to a Corn pie we had in Loreto only moister and actually even better. The server told us not everyone loves it, but if you like corn and a slightly drier cheesecake you will probably like it a lot like we did. We were not impressed unfortunately with the churros.
