We moved from San Diego, CA to Scottsdale, AZ. We had many changes due to buyers backing out and health challenges on my part. In spite of all of the difficulties, Aid-U and the wonderful owner and staff helped us through all the challenges for a nominal increase in cost that was highly affordable. The packing job was excellent as was the load into the truck. I had over 33 pieces of art and about well over 225 boxes. Not one of my paintings or the boxes, furniture or anything else was damaged in the slightest. It's was a good price but the movers were not well equipped to move on stairs. They took a very long time and we were moving two blocks down to our new home from an apartment. We won't be using them in the future but they were some help. I have hired movers in the past that had all the tools and materials needed for moving they were very efficient and took great measures. Spent the majority of the time, keeping after these guys to work, and coaching them on how to pack a storage POD. We had a 3-man crew today moving our office from the first floor to the bedroom on the second floor and vice versa. We were impressed that they got our very heavy, bulky Turkish bedroom set from the second story to the first floor without much trouble. We had to move rooms in preparation for my husband's surgery next week. The men arrived with masks, but not gloves as advertised on Yelp. Toward the end of the move, the foreman removed his mask for about 20 minutes until I brought him a mask and asked him if he had one. He pulled his out from his pocket and put it back on. One of the other men also wore his mask on his chin several times. This upset me because we have family members in the high-risk category plus my husband is preparing for surgery next week. Other than this incident, the move went well until the office desk was unwrapped and exposed a 1" splintered gash on the top corner of our desk, with pieces hanging off the side. They did reimburse $60 for the damage for the desk so I give them that, although it will cost much more to repair. After the crew left we also found a dent in the corner of the hall wall next to the room they moved furniture into. Had these 3 things not happened, we would have been completely satisfied. I am most disturbed about the removal of masks during the 2.25 hour room move, especially since San Diego County is moving to the purple tier Monday. The ad on Yelp is completely misleading; no gloves, sanitizer and removing their masks while working in our home is not acceptable, I understand it's uncomfortable to wear a mask doing strenuous work, however there is a pandemic and you are working INSIDE my home with people in a high-risk category. read more

What should've been a simple and lucrative (for them) assignment turned into a nightmare (for us). This was the agreement: Day1 - send 4 guys to JUST PACK a 3-BR house, with a RAMP to get everything up onto a shipping container parked in front; Day 2 - send 4 guys to load everything into the shipping container out front. There was no driving required, nor anything to unload at the other end since the container was being shipped overseas by a shipping company on Day 3. Instead, on Day1, Aid-U sent 3 pimpled teens (not 4 professional movers) NINE HOURS AFTER THEY WERE DUE TO ARRIVE! They had no ramp, and said perhaps they could find one for the next day. In the midst of a pandemic (and with senior citizens as their customer), these irresponsible clowns showed up mask-less. When asked, they said they didn't even have any masks. They now had just about 3 hours before dark to pack boxes, but didn't even manage to finish the kitchen before going home. They assembled boxes upside down, taping the tops such that when filled, they were impossible to carry with the hand-grip holes now toward the 'bottom'. They blew through packing tape like it was toilet paper. They lumped glass objects into boxes with nothing to protect them. They sealed boxes without labeling anything - neither the contents, nor whether they were fragile or from which cabinet these contents came. They unnecessarily ripped up contact paper that lined the inside of several kitchen cupboards, thereby destroying the wood veneers. Distraught, we phoned the "manager" pleading that he be sure to a)- send mature professionals the next day, not careless kids; b)- ensure they'd bring a RAMP and be ON TIME; and c)- send the promised four, not just three. Instead, the next morning, three different teens arrived (not 4 professionals), with no ramp. In order to gauge whether they had even an ounce of packing experience, we asked them how long they'd been employed by Aid-U, and they refused to answer. Again we questioned why they, too, were mask-less, and while we once again called their "manager", the teens went out to their truck. After about ten minutes, they drove off without a word. In over 50 years as an adult, I don't think I've ever encountered a more unprofessional outfit than this. Fortunately, after the second trio of teens left, we were able to cobble together seven other professional adults to make up lost time, working into the night to get the container loaded before the shipping company was to pick it up. Moving is stressful enough... to have movers completely flake on their arrival time, not know what they're doing, and display so much disrespect, is unconscionable. STAY AWAY FROM THESE PEOPLE UNLESS YOU LIKE INCOMPETENCE AND STRESS. UPDATE: The response from Aid-U below is not accurate. No one on site said anything about "not having enough muscles". We simply asked where the promised ramp and 4th person were. We also asked where their masks were, since they were in a household with senior citizens during a global health crisis. The crew went out to their truck, presumably to get their masks, and WHILE WE WERE ON THE PHONE with the dispatcher (asking where the ramp and 4th person were), the crew in the truck simply drove off without a word. The crew obviously made up their own version of events for their supervisor. We didn't "judge a book by its cover"... we simply called them out for not delivering what they'd promised, and the young crew's disrespectful attitude toward their stressed out clients definitely didn't help. read more

Efficient, patient, helpful, etc. A few dings and scratches on some furniture but realistically that's to be expected as no long distance move is perfect. I used these guys twice. Smart, energetic, careful, and fast. These guys have their act together. The day of the move, my wife and I were both sick with the flu right when the coronavirus hit the media. We could barely get thru the day. These guys came in and took care of business, getting us into our new place and even putting the bedskirt on the box springs so we wouldn't have to move the mattress. Little details like that.
