Unlike most sushi AYCE in the city, this place really take care of it's customers and think in the way a customer would think when they are eating sushi! What do I mean? First of all, the fish to rice ratio is perfect as it balance each other out, verses many AYCE places where the rice overpowers the fish so they can stuff you easier and order less. I was able to enjoy the special rolls more and taste all the ingredient instead of mouth full of rice. Each rolls are uniquely made and super delicious! For Saturday brunch, I gave the bf the choice of Shanghainese (his favorite) or sushi (my favorite). And he made the right choice -- Akino we go! Akino being new is very clean and coming in at 2PM, the place was quite full. We honestly got a nice table at the back of the place and got to sit next to each other rather than opposite which was nice. The person who greeted us in the front was courteous and friendly. We opted for the AYCE option which was $17.99 per person. They have pretty much the usual suspect in terms of food but what I liked about it is that I can order most of the things in pieces, like chicken wings, tempura pieces, etc. The limited AYCE places I've been usually have cooked food in an order which I feel obligated to finish or get charged extra. I could literally order one piece of chicken wing and it would be fine. Another thing I like is that the specialty rolls are really good. We ordered one of each of the specialty rolls and they don't skimp on the fish. The snow mountain was nice but the other one with the tempura shrimp and spicy tuna on top (forgot the name) was even better. I know this may sound strange but I also liked their sushi pieces. They are rather small, but that is the precise reason why I liked them. I can literally eat one per bite and not feel stuffed with rice. The thing is, most of the items here are quite small (except the specialty rolls, IMO). With AYCE and a party of 2, this is works because we can try more things. And to top it all off, I checked into Yelp and scored a free scoop of ice cream. I wish they had choices like red bean or sesame, but I settled for matcha. The added super bonus is that all the staff are super efficient and nice. The positive demeanor and service complements the food. Even the bf was impressed with the food and quality here. They have a more extensive menu for dinner but with the higher price. The environment and the service is okay. However, the food is like, Nah. I totally understand you got what you paid for. If the sashimi or sushi is provided in other $$ or $$$ sushi places, I would give 2 stars. The sashimi has a texture that is either hard to chew or easy to split into pieces. The sushi is actually okay, however, I love eel and whatever the sushi/roll contains eel I can hardly found eel in it. Besides, the fired food are actually good, not oily at all. It is just the shrimp/meat they use is not in good quality. I think it might be what we can have at NYC with the budget. Currently my favorite place to eat ayce sushi in queens. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, shout-out to our favorite waitress Christina, who gets everything right and is super friendly and attentive. The place is CLEAN and bright. Atmosphere is nice and open. We usually go for lunch and there is never a wait even on weekends, could differ depending when you go though. The food is fast and you can tell it was just made and not sitting there! Sushi and sashimi is fresh and tastes great. Appetizers from the kitchen are always good and they usually don't forget your food like some ayce places do!!! Double check with your server or else you'll over order. Order what you can eat (you can always order more). Don't waste food!! I prefer this place over other ayce sushi places and would recommended. read more

Just came here with my girls last night and I had the worst experience in an AYCE. The waiters were relatively nice and tentative. I was beyond disappointed with their so called policy. THEY WILL NICKEL AND DIME YOU for every little piece not eaten. Don't get me wrong, we didn't intentionally leave food behind to be an ass. We left a whole roll behind and have no problem paying for it, but they also charged us for 3 pieces of sashimi. We originally ordered 60 sashimi and merely couldn't finish 3! Three! It's so minimal! It is normal and very common to leave behind 2 or 3 pieces in any restaurant! So if you end up ordering something that is not fresh or if it tastes bad, you better finish every bit of it or you'll be charged. Looks like the boss wants to earn a few bucks here and there. If that's the case, buddy, you won't be in business for very long. I've eaten in so many AYCE, and this is by far the ONLY restaurant to charge you for every little piece! No other restaurants ever charged me for 3 pieces of food on a plate. As for the food: Miso soup was too bland, diluted and too little seaweed/tofu Salmon sashimi, not the freshest but edible Red clam, definitely not fresh, looks like it's been sitting around for some time Can't say too much for other sashimi since nothing reallly stood out Avocado salad-awful. Just a few pieces of avocado topped with sour cream?? Kani salad and seaweed salad are all JUST okay As usual, nothing stood out to us except for the Akino roll. Assuming that it was going to be busy since they've recently opened, my party of 7 and I had reservations for 9 P.M. so we wouldn't have to wait. Finding parking in the area was not cumbersome since there was an open parking lot provided for Akino and the nearby businesses. Upon arriving, we were seated and served tea. For the appetizers, we stared off with edamame, chicken wings, salmon skin salad, spicy kani salad, and the sirloin beef to name a few. The appetizer that really stood out to us were the sirloin beef slices. It was prepared on a bed of sliced onions and cooked to perfection. Not too tough and not undercooked. It was also seasoned perfectly, so I'd definitely recommend it. The other appetizers were just mediocre and the quality is what you'd typically expect from any other AYCE sushi joint. The sushi, signature rolls and the hand rolls were pretty much on-point. My party and I ordered about 3-4 rounds and ate until we were completely bloated. The salmon dragon ball stood out to me and I'd say it was the only item on the menu that got us the most full. It consisted of avocado and a big ball of spicy tuna. Overall, our first experience at Akino was decent. The servers were extremely nice and were engaging. They joked around with us and provided a wonderful atmosphere. This place is awesome, going in I really don't expect much from a sushi buffet, but it way better then I expected. Everything is really fresh! It's like going to a regular sushi bar. I already went a few times in the past couple of months, couple time during lunch and also once for dinner. During lunch on the weekend it's 17.99. They have a more limited menu and don't serve sashimi during lunch time. While Dinner time they have a much larger section for 26.99. Akino is actually good, The rolls are standard, they have some specialty rolls but don't really say wow it's amazing but some of the stand out things are the steak dish. the sashimi and sushi pieces. The steak tips are really good appetizer, it comes out quick and the sashimi and sushi cut up in fair serving (not skimpy). The food is a four star but the service is a 2 bring it down 1 star. I have been here a few times on the weekend and the waiters are overwhelmed. My server forgot my orders a few times ranging from water, food and even the bill. Went in for lunch around 11:30. But when we tried to enter, we were told that they weren't ready even though their opening time said 11:30. It wasn't that much of a big deal but they should change their opening hours if they're not ready to serve food yet. The food was great and the fish seemed fresh. I like how their rolls are not stuffed with rice; you're able to try different rolls without stuffing yourself. HOWEVER, be prepared to wait for your food. After we handed in our first sheet, it took almost 15-20 min for the appetizers like kani salad to come out. They also missed one order and we had to ask for it again. The staff seems nice, especially when they allowed us to cancel our orders even when they already made it. But when we were trying to get the bill, it seemed like all the waiters looked the other way. We were raising our hands and trying to get their attention but no on came over even when we made eye contact. We silly gooses, anyways there are plenty of parking! The place isn't that big in there so when the food came it was very squished. The food was okay, not too special. There are a lot of options for sushi and special rolls but I wasn't too crazy about it. It is around $25 per person. The service is good with changing the plates and refilling water. The downside is there isn't dessert. You have to check in for ice cream. I felt kind of bad asking for more ice cream because the girl took a while to get the ice cream out. Overall a pretty good AYCE sushi buffet spot. Very accessible since there's a train station right around the corner and a bus stop right outside the parking lot. I went on a Thursday night around 6pm with a friend so we were just a party of two. $25.99 per person excluding tax and tip. Got seated quickly since they weren't too busy yet. It got a bit more crowded after a while since we stayed for two hours. Service was very quick and punctual. The servers were friendly and greeted us abruptly at the door. They refilled our cups, took away empty plates, and brought our orders all very quickly. But since it wasn't that busy the waiters seemed like they were lounging around and we caught them staring at us eating one too many times, kinda awkward We ordered a bit too much for two people, but we couldn't help it. Hot foods were alright. We got edamame, fried scallop, fried shumai, katsu, udon, etc. The specialty rolls were really good. They didn't over stuff them with too much rice and the portions were generous. They also didn't skimp on the sashimi portions. Those were fresh and delicious! A moderately to expensively priced all-you-care-to-eat (except ice cream) sushi joint. I had a great time here with friends and enjoyed some quality sushi and sashimi. My absolute favorite above all was the salmon. The cuts of tuna were pretty good quality as well. I felt as if I was a child in a candy store. Though it was lunch-time, the dinner menu blew the lunch menu out of the water in terms of selection. I would say that it was overall a good experience, with the only souring experience (note: not mission critical or a deal breaker, but just an odd note to end on) was that we had paid more for the dinner menu and agreed to vacate our seats to make way for more patrons so that they could be seated and allow the restaurant to earn more money.. I asked if I could have another scoop of green tea ice cream and was denied because the owner would yell at the staff person. Quality of food is okay. Serving was okay. But they can do more for the price were paying.(hint: add desserts!!!) FYI, they don't offer any desserts in their buffet menu. You have to check in with your Yelp app to get a scoop of ice cream. I don't like how their servers work with an attitude.
