Easy to shop here, plenty of parking. I'm glad this Albertson's didn't turn into a Hagen and then go under in 2015. I like the spaciousness of the supermarket, and it's near Long Beach Memorial / Miller's Children's Hospital, so very convenient for patients and staff to get food. read more

It's been pretty tuff trying to grocery shop here in Long Beach. My usual place Trader Joe's has had lines just too long (outside to get in) so I've had to find alternatives. I decided to try Albertsons On Willow. I mostly needed fruits and veggies. It did not disappoint. 2qt Strawberries $6.99 Blue Berries 18oz $6.99 Raspberries $5.99 Cucumbers $.99 Nice leafy Romaine lettuce $1.69...are just a few items from the produce section (that was nicely stocked) and everything looked fresh. Especially the organic section. Picked up a nice batch of very fresh leafy mint $1.98 . I also found a few staples I needed. Bread was stocked, ground organic free range turkey, organic chicken thighs, my favorite ice cream So delicious dairy free, I usually buy from Mothers Market. Also found Paul Newman's Supreme thin and crispy pizza on sale $6.99 ( a nice alternative one I found to my old fave at Trader Joes) YES I did have to wait in line to purchase but not astronomically long wait and they really adhere to the social distancing. I also appreciated the checker who was busy but courteous. Not my usual place to shop but am now considering a return for the good quality in their produce dept. P.S. didn't have to wait to get in 11am and the store is big so lots of room to shop with out feeling cramped. read more

So I figured I would go ahead and paste a comment about the supposed store manager. This woman was on the mic announcing the next openlane like she was selling food at an auction. Loud and rude I swear she really didn't need a mic but she definitely wanted to hear herself speak. All around the employees were super helpful and super nice but she has to go get some training. Poor customer service on her part.... and you could tell her employees or irritated as well with her on the mic as it was constant while I was at the store shopping for at least 30 minutes. read more

Diana, the cashier was INCREDIBLY rude to my mom and I. After slamming her finger while my mom was reaching for a grocery divider, the cashier wasn't looking and slammed the rest down the conveyor belt, slamming my mom's finger. My mom said "hey, you slammed my finger." She replied "oh. I wasn't paying attention." My mom jokingly said "Cleary." Diana tilts her head around the monitor in front of her very aggressively and said "I DIDNT DO IT ON PURPOSE" Instead of apologizing. My mom and I got upset, told her she didn't need to speak to us like that, there's no need for an attitude. She said she "didn't have one," replied "whatever" when I said she did. Self checkout is back! I also love the staff. Everyone is always super cool and nice to me.

I was in a decent mood until I came to Albertsons today. I have been using Albertsons for years and thought they had good customer service so it's kind of hard to write this but here it goes. When I came around the corner, I saw some of the cashier lines were long so I walked to the self checkout. No problem. But as I was checking out my items, I felt somebody's eyes on me not once but twice. At first I let it go but when I saw the lady with Albertsons attire now with her eyes bigger and obviously staring at me, I asked her if everything was ok. She said yes and that since I was the only person using check out, she was watching me because she had to. When other people started coming thankfully, she said now she didn't have to watch me. I told her, sorry for not getting the name, that I have used self check out before and didn't need help. I'm not sure what the problem was, but it made me feel very uncomfortable. The lady did ask me if I needed a bag which was cool. I have had bad experiences being confronted by employees before so this did not rub me the right way. The correct way would have been for her to say "Hello, can I help you with anything today?" I would have said no and that would have been the end. But that's not how this went down. Even though Albertsons is closer, I may go out of my way to go to Winco from now on. read more

Seafood department smelled like rotting fish yesterday! I stopped by to get crab legs and there was no attendant at the counter so I waited and while I was waiting I noticed a foul smell and there was also green fungus on the white part of the crab legs that were sitting on top! Sadly this is the closest large major market in or near our neighborhood. In the past 12 years I have had a love/hate mostly hate/frustrated relationship. The market isn't the nicest inside but the worst part is trying to check out. If I just want to pick up a few items It can take me as much time to get in and out at Albertson's as it can take to drive much further away and return. They rely mostly on the self check out but the person manning the area isn't often helpful, friendly or paying attention. Of late they have had good sale prices but it can be hit or miss - I think they are missing out on a lot of local clientèle for all these reasons. read more

A multicultural mix of shoppers, mainly your regular working class folk or government recipients, but also a stop for the local fire department. I like that. They have a Bank of America branch here and a NICE liquor section... a SUPER combination. I like that. There's such a big difference between each of the Albertsons I frequent. This one is near where I work. I dropped by to pick up Starbucks Refreshers 6 pkts because I saw them on sale at the Albertsons near my home and wanted some more. Well let me tell you, I felt like I was in court pleading my case when I noticed a $3 difference in price! The manager tried to explain that there was an error in pricing at the other store or it was special reduced pricing to get rid of stock. He said that the price I saw at the other place was below cost and that they were in different districts. Umm...so different districts have different prices?? So what's also advertised in the paper depends on the district? I was about to storm off to give this place only one star when the manager called me back and called the other Albertsons to prove his point. It turned out that the other Albertsons marked down the price to "below cost" because several of the Refreshers were expiring in one month. I looked at the dates on the ones in front of me and they were also expiring in one month. I pointed them out and asked if he'd give them to me for the same price as the other store. He asked me how many I wanted. I only wanted two 6 packs, especially since they're expiring in one month. He finally agreed to sell them to me for the price I saw at the other place. Seriously, what are they going to do with all those expired Refreshers?? And he's worried about selling them to me below cost??? read more

OMG, I am not B.S.ing this place is GHETTO!!!! Everytime I come here I tell myself I'm not coming back out of fear for my safety. Today's visit, I run in for 3 things, the lines are long, even with 4 lanes open. I, as usual, seem to pick a winner everytime. I should have packed up and switched lines after the cashier let the person in front of me do more than 2 transactions but didn't, then it turned into 3, and then, I kid you not, 4! Why the heck does the cashier let one person do this? Because it's ghetto and she had a $h!t load of food stamps! So then the girl leaves with her basket full of junk food and still has yet a 5th transaction on the conveyer, all while the cashier is wandering around like an idiot looking for who the hell knows. When she finally comes back, I ask her, Can you please check me out before that lady comes back? I only have 3 things and I've been waiting way too long. And then she starts getting snappy and tells me, Mam, I can only wait on one customer at a time. And so I'm like well you're not helping her and I'd like you to help me now I've been waiting in line all this time... And again she answers, Mam, I can only help one customer at a time. So I'm sure she can see the fumes coming off the top of my head and I just refuse to waste any more of my voice on her, take my stuff and leave! OK. Based on the other reviews about it being "ghetto" I assume that these people arent from around here or are new to the area. This is the Wrigley supermarket. This is what we have and this is where we go. I have been in this neighborhood for over 20 years and this is the best market that has ever been in this neighborhood. Knock it for the panhandlers if you like. Knock it because you fear for your safety. Dont knock it because the lady in front of you has to feed her family with WIC or food stamps! Some people just have to do what they have to do. If you feel that way, why are you even in this part of town? Go back to Bixby Knolls or 2nd street where the prices are much higher, parking sucks and its further away. Personally, I like this spot. It's always open, I'm cool with the people in there, they usually have whatever I need. If I need ground turkey... BAM! Its there in several different varieties. If I need a bottle of Jameson or Black Label. BAM! Need some pastas?? BOOYA! Over 50 varieties! For those complaining about the dates on foods. You dont check them everywhere you go? You think THIS Albertsons is the only one with expiring food on the shelf? You should always be checking the labels! If it's too ghetto for you on Willow and Pacific, I would hate to see how you would deal with other parts of the city. GTFOH! read more

When I want to cook steak, everything must be perfect. I headed down to Albertsons and was planning on asking the counter for the best cut of steak that they recommended. To my dismay, the man behind the counter replied, 'this is only a sliced meat deli counter. Go over there' (he pointed to the seafood counter). So off I went to the seafood counter. I asked the lady behind the counter and she told me Albertsons doesn't have a meat counter, only the prepackaged meat. Why didn't the first guy just tell me that? I scanned the prepackaged meats. They have signs displayed everywhere saying 'we only sell Choice USDA meat.' I guess they are proud of that, but I was hoping to buy some Prime USDA, which is one step up from Choice. Oh well. The main issue, which is also the reason why I am giving two stars, is that Albertsons purposefully hides the sections of meat that are already deteriorating/browning under the USDA and price labels. See my pictures and you will understand what I mean. It was buy one get one free for choice sirloin, which I was a bit skeptical of. The photo illustrates the hidden spots, and how it looks before it is opened. After opening the second package, I discovered the same thing. So it wasn't just one of them, it was both. Granted I know it's possible the dark spots occurred after I bought the steaks. Also the packaging itself could have caused it. So I am giving two stars instead of just one, to kind of give them the benefit of the doubt. The customer service was sub par anyhow and would be two stars. Please message me/educate me on whether or not this is normal as far as the browning. Has this happened to anyone else? read more

This grocery store is the dumps. There are always panhandlers sitting outside who accost you coming and going. The store is dirty and oftentimes smells like rotting seafood. The self-checkout stands are more than likely going to be broken when you visit, which will mean you get to stand in one of their long lines. And, more than likely you will wait behind someone cashing in their WIC coupons which will turn your quick trip to the grocery store into a long ordeal. One time, I arrived at this Albertson's right after opening time at 6:05 am, only to find the doors locked and seeing employees inside standing around. I had to Google their phone number and call them up from outside their doors to tell the manager to open the stupid place. I've wised up now, and even though it's another two miles I will happily drive to the Vons on Atlantic and San Antonio to avoid this Albertson's at all costs. read more

Oh, how I WISH that this was a Vons instead of the crazy ghetto Albertsons that it is. It's pretty low quality on all fronts and then high priced. The combination of the 2 is a bit mind boggling. It just seems...dirty. I watch for sales at Albertsons because that's kind of the only time it's worth dealing with this store. I will say that I ALWAYS get good service at the meat department. These guys are just nice. I can't quite put my finger on what the issue is. Is it the ghetto shopping center that it's located in? And maybe because this center straddles a rather large mix of neighborhoods ranging from pretty low income to upper middle class? I don't know. If I could give this place zero stars I would. This place has left me so traumatized that I've resorted to doing my grocery online...Heres why. The parking is ok, it does get packed on the side of albertsons because all the people from the hospital near by use it as their own personal parking lot. The entrance always has shady looking characters and they range from people begging for change to thugs that demand you give them change. One of them yelled at my mother and chased her to her car because they believed the $1 she gave them simply was not enough. Also I've had people that loiter this area say sexually disgusting things to me. If you're a female avoid going to this place by yourself at night unless you don't care about being sexually harassed. Now here is the part of the review if you've managed to make your way inside the grocery store. Everything is for the most part nice and tidy. The worst part is at checkout. They have 3's a crowd signs all over the place and have it blasting from their speakers. But!!! The never have more than three cash registers open with lines of over 10 people. The last time I went I ended up having to wait in line for 20 minutes just to buy some parmesan cheese. Avoid this nightmare of a grocery store. read more

I came to this store this morning at 6 am, right when it opened, and saw four employees not wearing masks.

I've recently moved nearby and this is the only large mega-mart type store in the area. There are local spanish grocery stores which are great don't get me wrong, but sometimes when you want fresh produce, name brands, etc you gotta go here. That being said, this place has a lot of potential to be great. They have nice wide isles, its a HUGE location, they have plenty of room, a Bank of America inside, a DVD rental box thing, self check out aisles, cool displays. So why only 2 stars you ask? Simply put...the employees. I will say, the grocery store without its employees...probably a 4 star place. I love the fresh produce, and they have good meats, and you can find good deals if you look hard enough. It also helps they have everything...like seriously everything. But I can't get past the employees here. More specifically the cashiers. Just today I spent 15 mins trying to check out with only 2 people in front of me. They never have enough registers and the cashiers mostly go very slow. Its not fair to say that about all of them, there are a few and if they are working that day, I love this place...they are speedy, friendly, and know what they are doing. Unfortunately they never seem to be working when I go. There are managers who try to help with coupons and cause the whole line to stop moving because they have to verify if they accept that coupon or not. Then they have issues with Ebt cards and watching them trying to figure it out while the poor people stand embarrassed for using EBT is so frustrating. Give the poor people their card back and don't hold it up asking for help. Gosh c'mon. The final kick in the nuts is that every time you walk out this place is riddled with solicitors. These aren't the nice type either. They are standing RIGHT in front of the door and you can't escape them. Its like a beggars gauntlet. You make it past the homeless shelter donation folks, only to run into an actual homeless person on the way to your car. If not that, you'll get the guy who always seems to run out of gas and needs money to get home. Funny thing is I've seen this guy there multiple times. Arg. By the time the employees and the solicitors are done with you, any good deals, good experiences, and good will you have towards this place is gone. You go home feeling upset, and annoyed. yet for some strange reason I keep coming back. I love this place for the simple convenience. They have EVERYTHING. SO even though its only a 2...I will keep shopping here because I'm lazy. read more

The Willow store is the worst. The employees, including the one of the managers are always rude, bad attitude and just plain ignorant. Rarely are you treated like a paying customer. It's as if they are giving the groceries for FREE. Only a few of the checkers even speak to you as you go through the long lines. Incidentally,the lines were long before the pandemic came. This store should be closed or bring in a new group of employees that know how to appreciate customers that help them keep their jobs. read more

OK, am I just getting old, but have all grocery stores become unbearably cold? This joint has all the appropriate modern grocery store stuff (and some good dollar deal stuff in the far aisles) but the checkout stands are never adequately staffed and the bleeding self-service checkout is often limited to to just one or two open lanes and the self-service system can be bonehead in it's redundancy and it's freeze-ups. 99 per cent of the time I will endure a long line at the human controlled cash machines because of my fury at the silly self serve cash machines. And one last gripe, this giant store layout thing where you have double aisles with marquees that need opera glasses to read--why don't they just give up, dim the lights, issue flashlights and tracking devices and make it at least an adventure as opposed to the exercise in frustration it currently manages to be. read more

Moved to Wrigley in December. I've probably been to this store 20 times since. I won't go back after my 3/30/16 visit. I went through the 10 items or less line. When I got home I was surprised to realize I had paid for some Roast Beef I was missing. I went back, and the missing item was behind a now unmanned register. Not wanting to look suspicious, I stood there waiting to be acknowledged. When a cashier walked past, I told her what happened. She said, "you can get it" and walked away. I went behind the counter, got my meat and as I left "Thanked" the cashier for the apology. (The one she never offered.). Her answer was "It wasn't me". It never will be, honey. When I went to Ralph's in Studio City and discovered I bought expired potato salad and took it back. That cashier apologized and gave me TWO replacements as a courtesy for the inconvenience. THAT is what Customer Service looks and sounds like, Albertsons. read more

I only come to this place because it's 2 blocks away - everyone is very nice but they have serious issues keeping the lines moving. This location must be under staffed, there's never not a line, there's ton or check stands but only 2-4 registers ever up and running. Additionally they have all the alcohol and Tobacco and meds locked up so the few checkers that are working have to leave their station and go get the items which contributes to the hold up read more

It's the nearest Albertson's to my house. Located in Wrigley's Plaza with CVS/Pharmacy, the Willow Metro Blue Line Station, and L&L Hawaiian BBQ. Mostly I only go for the advertised sales and usually I am able to find tyhe desired item(s). In general the store is well stocked. There is also self check-out which sometimes can be more of a pain than a convenience. I wouldn't suggest using the self-checkout if you are going to use coupons because it requires the attendant to override the coupons. Overall, convenient location since you can get your grocery shopping done, pick up medicine, and buy food to bring home all in one place. The parking lot can sometimes can get hectic but there is plenty of parking available; it's just a matter of how far you gotta walk. read more

Came here last night after seeing my pops at Long Beach Memorial to grab some salad. One of the employees ( I believe his name was Rick) saw that I was indecisive on what I wanted and suggested a salad for me to try (once it goes on sale). He was very helpful and knowledgeable about which veggies had which vitamins and nutrients we need to stay healthy. This place is way over priced and, honestly, for no reason. Small and nearly rotten avocados are never less than a dollar. When I was looking to pick up beer one night, I left and went to CVS which was way more reasonable. The staff always seems distraught or stressed, and they have never been exceptionally friendly or helpful. They also love to scream at one another between registers as if there aren't 5+ customers waiting in each line. Last there is ALWAYS a long line especially now that self check out is gone, so be prepared for a wait. Someone needs to open a new market near here. read more

This Albertsons is ALWAYS a miss for me. The only reason why I continue to go here is because it's close to my house. Otherwise I drive to Stater Brothers near Millikan. The lines are HORRENDOUS and I always feel like things are never in stalk! There's always things missing; bread, cheese, milk, etc. Today, Juana the cashier was not helpful. I kept getting the wrong cheese for my WIC check. I mentioned to her that I had the book and I wanted to show her the rules in the WIC book. She rudely said, "well, that's what the register says ma'am." I get it, the line was long, but where was your customer service? The other times I've gotten wrong items the cashier would come with me or go get it. Whereas Juana rudely reprimanded me. Last time I got the wrong sized bread, Aaron was kind enough to go get it for me (thanks Aaron)! Finally, the third time I got it right. The problem here was that there were only two regular lines open and tow 15 items or less lines open. Where are the other cashiers? You never have enough people manning registers, what's up wrong that? Also, there were NO carts at 5:30 this evening. I'll take my business elsewhere. read more
