This is a standard Alfred Coffee shop. The location is pretty central within the Beverly Hills/Rodeo Drive area, and the baristas have always been helpful and positive whenever I've visited. Prices for coffee here are very high, but it's in line with other coffee brands in LA (i.e. La Colombe). I usually get a hot oat milk latte, which is solid. One drawback is that the actual shop is pretty small, so there aren't many places to sit. If you want a coffee shop to settle down in for a few hours, I wouldn't recommend this specific location. read more

Considering the location and the ~famous~ but first coffee logo, it can get very crowded. I had the matcha latte with oat milk, and it was very good! First time coming here. I ordered a vanilla latte and a bagel with cream cheese. The bagel was completely "smashed". It was basically made without any real care. The latte was subpar and the cup they gave me was dripping all over the place, which made a mess. What was supposed to be a pleasant coffee experience turned out to be a disaster. Things have gone way down hill at this location. Most recently, I believe they were training someone on the coffee bar but no one was really supervising this person. It was evident she had no clue how to steam milk or make beverages. The milk wasn't being frothed to generate foam, and was screaming from the pitcher. It tasted so flat and bitter. Properly steamed milk tastes sweet and creamy, and Alfred usually nails it. She even made cappuccinos and flat whites by withholding foam and then scooping out foam on the top (photo). This isn't supposed to be Starbucks. Well, I guess it is because Alfred got rid of their espresso machines this week and got machines similar to what Starbucks had 5 years ago - just push a button and you're a barista. What an adorable spot! I went out on a stroll Saturday afternoon, and just before going back to the car, I wanted to check out Alfred since I've heard so much about it. The entrance is so cute and inviting with outdoor seating and an old timey feel with the black and white striped awning. More so when you walk in to flowered wallpaper kind of like grandma's house for coziness, but with a modern twist from the furniture and neon lights. After 4pm, the line isn't long and the barista was pleasant. I did have to wait for my drink a bit and being small, there was no seating to wait. No matter, as advertised, the iced vanilla latte was totally amazing for the $5.50 I paid for it. A great place to meet a friend or a date. I recommend parking north of Santa Monica Blvd in the residential area. You get your steps in and don't have to pay! The drinks are good here, but this is a busy street corner. Do not expect a quite conversation or bring your Airpods if you need to concentrate on your work/reading a book. Alfred's Earl Grey and Black Chai provide a robust alternative for non-coffee drinkers. My fave tea is the Blush: the mix of Hibiscus and Lemongrass is a rare find for me. I love the interior design of all the Alfred Coffee shops! I think this is a great shop to socialize and perhaps do work that's not incredibly engaging as it could be difficult to focus with all the people coming in & out and talking. This is a huge tourist attraction as it's right on the perimeter of Rodeo Drive. There's a good amount of indoor and outdoor seating though. I came at 2 PM on Monday with a group of 4 and we were able to grab 2 tables. I just ordered a 12 oz drip coffee and it was good! The customers service is great! My friend accidentally spilled my coffee and the barista offered to make me a new drink! I didn't end up getting one but I really appreciated the consideration & offer. Really good coffee. They have a bunch of fu fu stuff too but I'm a minimalist. I had a red eye with a medium roast. One of the best I've had in a while! Not overly bitter which is great cause I drink my coffee black. The staff is great there really fast and friendly at the same time. I've been going to Alfred's for years. Huge fan of their staples the oat milk late and breakfast burrito. Until recently I would tell everyone it's the best in the city. Unfortunately I've seen their prices go up (inflation, I get it) but the quality go down. Most recently I came to this location (the staff was great) but to my disappointment the burrito basically tasted like nothing. Yes many come for the social media worthy promotion but don't forget the underlying goodness of the Stumptown grinds and variety of tea blends. I don't know if most customers prioritize the great coffee over the attractive locations and Millennial magnetism. They have a nice selection of food items as well and they do offer soy and almond milk for people who aren't into dairy.
