Tasty wings
Jeanette D.

I went to Allegory Kitchen & Bar last night with friends. The service was good. We were greeted and served well throughout the night. We ordered wings and catfish. The wings were good, but the catfish was better. The ambiance is nice it has a tropical Miami vibe. The music was amazing. I had so much fun reminiscing listening to songs I grew up listening to. I spoke to a server that told me to come back for karaoke on Thursday. I'm sure it's fun and definitely something I will try.

Had such a great time last night catching up with my friend! It was much needed! Of course we chose a New Black Owned spot & I'm so glad that we did! From the ambiance, hospitality, food, drinks and welcoming environment we were so pleased with everything! It exceeded all expectations. We were there for 3 hours! (There was A LOT to discuss) We decided to grab a couple of drinks. My friend loves her an Old Fashion & I had a Pineapple Bourbon drink which was & let me tell y'all about those Vegan Collard Green Spring Rolls! O M G with the sticky sweet & sour sauce to go with it. It had the right amount of Sweet & Heat. The Collard Greens Spring rolls were seasoned & fried to perfection! & My friend ate those Lemon pepper Hot honey wings up! She said they were sooo good. Meeting The Owner Ronnie Harris & our waitress Destiny was such a pleasure! They were so kind and made us feel like we were right at home! Allegory has events everyday out of the week that everyone can enjoy! My friend and I look forward to coming back very soon! Their prices were unreal! This would be a nice date night spot too! @Allegory Thank you again for a wonderful evening!! #KitchenandBar #LadiesNight #BlackOwned #GrandPrairie

It started off very shaky. They did not have any tea or diet soda. The fountain Coke was super flat and had to request canned Coke (which thankfully they had). They did not even have any chicken. BUT the waiter was very patient and accommodating. And the food was excellent. Boyfriend Ended up ordering the catfish and red beans and rice and I had the lobster mac. The music was a vibe and the setting was dope.

Wow, not much else to say. Server made a recommendation that was hands down the best catfish dinner I have ever had. My Jack and Coke wasn't bad either. Not understanding why there isn't a line around the door. Perfect local and low key spot.

Visited on a Saturday night and loved the intimate vibe and beautiful decor. They offered a late-night menu, which was a nice touch. My Jack Daniel's and Coke was served quickly and mixed perfectly. Great atmosphere and smooth service. It's definitely worth a visit.

Feather Chandeliers over the bar. So fun!

A friend and I decided to have a late lunch at Allegory Kitchen and Bar on Saturday. We got there when they opened at 2p. Looking over the menu, there were so many appetizing dishes. The bartender,Nikki, was so friendly. She gave us the happy hour menu to look over as well. We decided to share some of the small plates. First out were the collard greens spring rolls. Now my friend, being from up North (NH) is not a fan of collard greens, but agreed to order them. She is now a huge fan! They were simply amazing. The collard inside were just the right smokiness from the bacon and oh so tender. My mouth is watering just thinking about them! Shortly after, we were served the pork belly brussel sprouts. OMG. First, the portion is huge. Enough for 6 people if eating them as a side dish. They had bits of fried and crispy pork belly, chopped pecans, blueberries, and a delish balsamic glaze. Not too much glaze; just enough to enhance the flavors and bring it all together. While were were munching on those two items, the chef brings us the wings and the pork bites. The wings are not battered, which I was happy about. And there were amazingly crispy. So many times unaltered wings still have soggy skin. Not these! And the house sauce was divine. A little sweet, a little spicy, and just the right sticky. You can have traditional buffalo and other flavors, but on your first try, go with the house sauce. You won't be disappointed! For the pork bites, picture thick butterfly pork chops cut into bite-sized pieces, battered with a lightly seasoned batter that has just a touch of heat. The sauce they serve with the pork bites is like a Mississippi Comeback sauce. Oh my! Soooo good. And the servings for "small plates" are not so small. We ended up taking home a good portion of brussel sprouts, a good amount of pork bites, and 4 wings. We ate all of the collard greens spring rolls! The bar is stocked well. We started off with a Moscow Mule served with Gosling ginger beer in the copper mugs. Had a great conversation over the bourbon and whiskey selection. They have some really good Kentucky bourbon, including Four Roses, Elijah Craig, Buffalo Trace, just to name a few. They also have a good selection of wines, tequila, brandy, and Kracken for the serious drinkers! I cannot say enough good things about Allegory Kitchen. We've already made plans to go back with several friends and my husband and I want to go have dinner one night when they have the saxophone player as well as when they have the singer/performer, and comedy night. For those who enjoy Karioke, that's on Thursday night. I am looking forward to trying the shrimp and grits or maybe the catfish over red beans and rice! Will let you know how those are in my next review. In the meantime, if your reading this, just get in the car and go! It is truly a very good restaurant with really fun decor and amazing food!

Fried green tomatoes

I would like to start out and say this is an amazing place to come out and have a good time, I came out to celebrate my birthday, with my Wife , the Restaurant Staff was very welcoming on arrival, our Waitress for the evening was Nadia, she was amazing, the food was delicious, I had the Catfish & Grits as a meal, appetizer was the fried green tomatoes, just like back in the Day!. My Wife had the Catfish & red beans & rice , we also had the skillet Cornbread as Well, man I couldn't say anything bad about this Establishment, when arriving , it was like wow it's a small place, I really was on the fence about going inside, but they had some amazing reviews posted online, so we went inside, bam they didn't disappoint, Kudos to the Chef , the Staff & the Owner, for having a Black Own Establishment were we can come out and have a terrific experience!. Job well done. The Wife & I , will definitely be coming back again , and also going to bring some people along with Us. Oh yeah they make a killer White Russian that will make you say OWee. in a good way. come -out and support this Restaurant you want be Disappointed you Did.

Ok this is a hidden gem. Boogie was our hostess and bartender. Try the Lemon Drop!!! Services excellent food plentiful. The fried green egg roll appetizer with the teriyaki dipping sauce. Yes and Yes again. Happy hours starts at 3:00PM. The decor is smooth jazz laid back.

The food was good and very reasonably priced. Everything was flavorful and satisfying, making it a great value for the cost. Definitely worth trying!

From the moment I stepped into this establishment, everything here was top notch. Very elegant laid back type of local bar and restaurant. The bartender that we had, it was very knowledgeable and was able to work the entire establishment by herself. From making drinks to taking orders, very well executed. After our food, the owner / chef came out to greet us as well as thank us for patronizing his establishment. I plan on being a repeat customer moving forward.Thank you for an awesome time!

I didn't take a picture of the burger I got but it was amazing. I also ordered the martini and she gave me gin. I've never had a gin martini before but it was great! It was an unexpected little spot but great food and the decor is beautiful. The bar waitress was our main waitress and she was sweet and attentive.

The Strawberry lemon drop was fire the Gullah wings were good ! Nice overall restaurant!

This is their updated menu.

Serving is big. Food taste delicious. Waiting time is about 15 mins. They gave us complimentary mac and cheese as they añmost forgot to serve it. They also replaced the mashed potato which was not available with garden salad. We were satisfied with the food.

The food is fabulous. The environment was very nice and quiet on weekdays. The only thing is that the restaurant has no windows.

Tucker, the manager, was more than accommodating to our crew. We came in from New York, and when I…read moresay he went above and beyond, he truly did. We were extremely grateful. He made sure we were seated in an area where we could get the maximum amount of air conditioning, as it was a little warm inside, but still very lovely overall. Kennady, the bartender, was wonderful from the moment I arrived for the reservation. Even though I had dined there many times before, she still took the time to go over the menu thoroughly. This was not previously my favorite location, but it quickly became my new favorite because of the level of service we received. Lexi (Alexa), our server, was awesome quick, sincere, and friendly. The food came out perfectly, and everyone truly enjoyed everything. We absolutely enjoyed both the food and the downstairs service. However, when we decided to experience the rooftop area, the experience unfortunately declined. The servers upstairs refused to serve us directly and made two members of our party go downstairs just to place a drink order. Additionally, when we asked for the restaurant's plastic blinds to be closed to keep us from getting soaked by the rain, there was hesitation, and we were told it would become too hot. While we understood the concern, our request was simply to avoid getting wet from the rain. Overall, despite the disappointing upstairs experience, the service downstairs, the food, and the hospitality from Tucker, Kennady, and Lexi made the visit an excellent one. Would I come back? YES! Would I recommend? YES!

had a really disappointing experience at Vidorra. I came in expecting a fun birthday vibe, but it…read morefelt more chaotic than celebratory. The atmosphere was extremely loud to the point where you couldn't hold a conversation, and the crowd management seemed completely out of control. It felt overcrowded, disorganized, and honestly a bit uncomfortable trying to move around or even get service. Speaking of service, it was slow and inattentive. We had to flag someone down multiple times just to get basic things handled, and it didn't seem like anyone was really paying attention to our table. The drinks were overpriced for what you get, and the overall experience just didn't match the hype at all. For a place that markets itself as a go-to celebration spot, it missed the mark. I wouldn't come back or recommend it--there are way better places in Deep Ellum to celebrate without the hassle.
