My kids love Spam Musibi so I stopped by a week ago to get some Musubi and Chicken Katsu. Their food was really good and more than anything, people were super friendly, especially Jaime. I'd rather spend money at the restaurant where people are genuinely nice offering good service and good food. This place was just somewhere we showed up to by chance. We were trying to decide what to eat and ran in here because who doesn't love Hawaiian food? Each item we ordered was delicious. I should have used my own judgement when I saw that they were under new management no more aloha Kitchen. The food was .....terrible. We ordered the laulau/Kailua pig plate and it was dry and tasteless, the local plate - was even worse, the chicken katsu plate was borderline burnt and had absolutely no taste we had to add tons of salt just to get some flavor, we purchased fried rice too and their was no flavor either and it was burnt, I figure they should at least get their rice cooked correctly but that too was terrible. Downhill since new owners took over. I always come here to eat won tun mein. Aloha cafe was always ono, no problems. Great prices too. This is 2nd time I ate here since new owners took over and win tun mein taste spoiled. Last time I thought I was imagining things cause how can go wrong? Wun tun mein so easy. I figured it out. The food here was good but this rating is due to very very poor customer service. I asked my son to pick up some food from this place. We were in the mood for Kalua pig so my son ordered 2 of their "Hawaiian Plates". It consists of pork lau-lau and kalua pig, sticky rice and a small side of mac salad. When he got to my house, we noticed they gave us completely wrong plates. They were both their "Aloha combo plates" which consist of teriyaki chicken, beef and chicken katsu. Absolutely nothing even similar to what he ordered so upsettingly he drove 10 minutes back to Aloha Sunrise Cafe and the lady that rang him up (receipt says her name is Jamie) immediately admitted to messing up the order. But then she tried to flip it, telling my son he ordered wrong... both times he said he wanted the kalua pig so receiving a chicken and beef plate was still 100% her fault and no excuses should have been made. We don't even know what we were charged for because she has the receipt (my son failed to ask for it) and my son tipped 20% on the initial transaction. For the inconvenience of driving 10 minutes back to get the order corrected and 10 minutes back to my house, he asked her if she can give him 2 additional sides of mac salad and she charged him $8 more. Absolutely ridiculous. He said she had a bad attitude and tried to flip blame on him and he left there so upset that we will never spend our money there again. We will stick to Aloha Kitchen or even L&L BBQ. Customer service is everything! She very obviously messed up the order so she should have corrected it with no issues or finger pointing, taken accountability and apologize for the big inconvenience and perhaps even given him an extra side of mac salad as a gesture of good faith. This transaction could have gone very differently and could have even been saved a lengthy one star review, had the cashier given better customer service. This restaurant, like a lot of others in the valley is a Chinese restaurant. While they know how to say 'Aloha' when you walk in, they are about as much Hawaiian as Beijing. We ordered the Mix plate combo and got an egg omelet passed off as Mahi Mahi. Took it back to the counter and showed the cashier what clearly looked and tasted like an egg omelet and she said.. '..no, dat is Mahi Mahi Hawaiian fish'. The beef tasted like Chinese buffet fare as did the chicken. Correct place if Chinese food is what you're looking for. Not Hawaiian. The place sucks. I hate to be negative but I ordered from postmates thinking I would try a different Hawaiian place hoping to receive better food(we usually just order L&L). I ordered the combo plate and asked for no pork to sub extra beef... this cost an extra 3 bucks. My order came and the chicken was under cooked and the breading wasn't even contected to the chicken. The "substitute beef" well most of the beef I recieved was fat tissue. 80 PERCENT OF THE MEAT THAT I WAS GIVEN WAS INEDIBLE. The lumpia was half decent if that. We ordered to go because we wanted coffee for breakfast and they don't have any. A nice cup of Kona brew would have been nice.
