This is my husband and mine's go to Hawaiian restaurant when he craves for lau lau or spam musubi. We do enjoy the fact that it's easy to get to and it's not very far from our house. I usually stick to their local or aloha plate which are both pretty delicious. I've also enjoyed their saimin. They have a pretty flavorful broth and it doesn't taste overly salty unlike other places. My only complaint is that their serving sizes have gone smaller than what it was before while their prices have gone up. The food is not good. The rice was dry, teriyaki sauce looked like jello and tasted horrible. The ranch was watered down. Things on the menu are way overpriced. They charge extra for everything even hot sauce. Go somewhere else. read more

First of all the food was not Hawaiian style. Katsu was ok but the teriyaki was terrible, it was not the grill. Meat tastes old both beef and chicken has a thick fat skin over the lots of sauce. A flan dessert was generously substituted. Food: I had the pork laulau plate with rice and mac salad. My companion had a kalbi plate. Authentic Hawaii style? Absolutely. Good? Pretty darn good and appreciated by both of us Oahu residents. My main complaint was there was no lomilomi salmon to accompany the laulau. On Oahu, these go hand in hand and the cool tomato saltiness compliments the laulau in an amazing way. The kalbi had the local style taste and texture and was enjoyed. Even our flan was good. It can be confusing to a lot to that are not familiar with the island food because this place has a lot of filipino food in the menu as well. The great thing about this place is is it is almost a food that you made at home and which is a good thing. There is a very pleasant lady at the register. I can see myself coming back here. I tried to give 2 stars but the teriyaki chicken vegetable bowl I ordered at Aloha Sunrise Cafe was awful. The teriyaki sauce was a gooey something but not like any teriyaki sauce I've ever had! Costco does a much better rotisserie chicken. I paid $4 extra for vegetables and got some cabbage, celery and carrots that were limp. I've been to this place a few times and ordered the Oxtail Soup the broth is good but their meat has become less n less plus this last order I had more bones with barely any meat on it. Bbq pulled pork sliders w/fries: bbq sauce was delicious, pulled pork was tender and enjoyable, it comes with 2 "sliders" to me they were bigger than sliders they were the size of a normal burger (perfect for 2 people to share) and the fries were good as well! First time in here since they gone under new management. I ordered the pork laulau and my boyfriend ordered beef curry. The laulau was bland and no flavor had a good portion on luau leaves on it which I really like but the flavor was never there. My boyfriends curry was good but he complained about a small portion. Dine in is open and they have tables blocked off for social distancing and also Sanitizer on tables. Don't think I'll be back anytime soon though. read more

2 words - bad food Ordered the mix plate at lunch. The mahi mahi is coated in an odd egg mixture for "breading" This isn't tasty. The bbq beef was chopped chunks in an oil sauce. This was the only thing that had any flavor and it tasted like a frozen dinner version. The bbq chick had no flavor. How the F do you mess that up? Even the macaroni salad was bland. It was enough that I could only eat a few bites of anything and the sadness of it put me off. Service was nice but that doesn't matter if there is no reason to come and eat the attempt at food. Very convenient when you're craving for a little taste of your Hawaiian/Filipino favorites! Lumpia Shanghai is yummy. I wished they carried lumpia with vegetables though. Recipes are consistent every visit and service has always been friendly. Plenty of seating inside for families or small groups. Stopped by this place while in Vegas. I ordered two different dishes, a chicken katsu combo and a curry. Firstly, the dishes were huge. Couldn't finish both by myself, but I could easily see two dishes being able to satisfy three or four people. For the sizes, the prices were definitely more than reasonable. Shrimp tempura mixed with another fish, vegetables with no flavor, mushy rice and the chicken was so dried out it was like chewing leather. I got the bento box $16.00....the Teri beef was chunks of very tough meat with their version of teriyaki sauce put on top the same with the Teri chicken, it was all premade, not cooked fresh. I couldn't finish the plate, not because it was big portions but because it just did not taste good to me at all. Born and raised in Hawaii this was definitely very very disappointing!!!!! The beef was very disgusting with fat parts attached to the chewy meat. The teriyaki chx was dry and drenched in teriyaki sauce. My chx katsu was dry and chewy. Aloha Sunrise vs Aloha Kitchen; not much difference that I can tell. It looks the same inside. The food tastes about the same. The prices seem to have gone up as they have most everywhere else. If I didn't know better, I'd swear this was the same place it has always been. And thats a good thing. I always liked Aloha Kitchen. With version 2.0, AKA Aloha Sunrise, having essentially the same menu I'm stoked. I love Spam musubi and Hawaiian style macaroni salad. I can get them both in the locals plate along with BBQ beef and chicken. That is my favorite combo to order. But I also like the fried saimin noodles. On my most recent visit I ordered an adobo fried rice omlette. I had been craving that for a while and it did not disappoint. I was able to order online through the handy dandy Yelp app and when I showed up to the restaurant my food was ready. And by the time I got my food home it was still hot.
