Amelia's was definitely not a bit for us only because our food took over an hour to arrive. We had reservations, got sat down quickly but the service truly wasn't it. I absolutely loved the speakeasy vibe and the vibe/flamenco night they had BUT the food taking over an hour just wasn't it for us. The food was good, only thing that was OVER the top was the croquetas and the gnocchi.
This was our first time back to Amelia's since they renovated and made it bigger. We had a fantastic experience! At first we were a little confused when we walked up and the windows all said dry cleaning and laundromat etc lol ... im true "speak easy" fashion, you open the door and at first you think you're walking into a laundry service, but then quickly realize you're in the right place. From beginning to end, the experience was excellent. The attention, the professionalism, the ambience, the decor, the food, the drinks, and the overall vibe were all outstanding! Our server Sebastian was incredibly knowledgeable about everything on the menu, and he was very attentive, and very professional. For appetizers, the wife and I had the pork belly and the French onion soup. The pork belly was delicious and the French onion soup was very good (but our favorite is still the one at Foxs) ... For entrée, I had the Seco de Res Braised Short Rib / Tamal en Cazuela Risotto / Salsa Criolla ... I LOVED IT! I asked for a side of Maduros, because I've always incorporated them into tamal en cazuela (old habit). The wife had the fish of the day which was similar to Branzino, which came with brussels sprouts and potatoes. Unfortunately we did not have room for dessert, but the offerings on their dessert menu sounded amazing as well . We plan on coming back on another occasion to try their Sunday brunch. We truly loved the culinary experience last night, and I highly recommend!!
Honestly, we had such a great experience at Amelia's! From the service, to the food and ambience everything was just perfect. Food - let's just start by saying that this is probably one of the best oxtails I've had. The meat literally fell off the bone. Perfectly seasoned and cooked. Paired with tamal en cazuela which was also super delicious. If you come here, you need to try this dish out. Service - both our bartender Kevin and server MJ were awesome. Great food recommendations and will make cocktails based on your palate. Ambience - the restaurant definitely takes you back to the 1930s. Decorated with antiques and old school furniture. Truly loved the dedication to the theme. We came on Thursday for jazz night, which was spectacular. Nothing better than having live music while dining. Such an awesome experience, will definitely be back.
This place is fantastic! The food is top notch, the service is on point and they are doing some really interesting concoctions with their signature drinks. Highly recommended if you are a foodie or drink nerd or both!
Great for a nice yet low key ambiance in dinner in the Miami suburbs. Every dish I ordered was flavored to perfection. Service was friendly and in a timely manner.
Cute little "speakeasy" in a corner of a place on coral way. Not at all what you'd expect but such an adorable find. Outside windows are lined with vintage cleaning signs and the door in is set up like then entrance of just that. Not so much speakeasy but themed. Lots of space in the inside but we sat at the bar. Drinks were okay and I don't know what I expected from the word 'clarified' apple on my drink, but DO NOT eat it, it is not for consumption lol just went for drinks but will be going back to try food.
Good was amazing. It's a Cuban Peruvian fusion with a Korean twist and it HITS. The flavors are amazing all around. The food comes out as it's made and it's hot so not all plates may come out at once. The cocktails were also really good. You may think it's a small glass but our drinks were pretty strong. Service was great. We sat down before our reservation time and it was pretty full. The waitress was very kind and explained the restaurant as this was our first time there. Ambiance is so cute. I love how everything is decorated like if you were at a dry cleaners in the 1930s. Super cute, definitely somewhere to get more dressy it's not super casual. The music is a good noise level nothing too crazy. Only thing....literally only complaint from my whole table was that it was hot in there. It didn't feel hot initially coming in but once we sat down it just got hotter. I had to put my hair up when we started eating. Still enjoyed it enough to give it five stars the heat didn't really ruin our experience. IT WAS GREAT.
How am I finding out about this place just now? A friend suggested dinner here, saying it was a fusion of Cuban, Peruvian and Asian... sister restaurant to Islas Canarias and Finka... say no more. I was pleasantly surprised upon arrival... what a unique restaurant from the moment you walk in. Service was great throughout. We decided to try the Short Rib Croquetas, Pork and Mushroom Ravioli and the Lomo Saltado Risotto. Everything was the delicious, but my least favorite was the ravioli. The ambience and mood on this place calls for date night so I'll definitely return.
Jasmine attended us and I want to say she is hands down the best. If you come ask for her! The drinks were all delicious and we had croquetas and the appetizers that on happy hour they have a great price all. Honestly their food and ambiance is one of the best in Kendall.
You wouldn't ever think this restaurant was behind the facade you see from the outside. Once past the "dry cleaners" you're in for a treat. Wonderful service, great food and drinks and a great place to catch up with old friend and in our case listen to live music. I had the airline chicken after it was recommended by my friend and I have to say it was awesome and the side dishes it came with exploded with flavor.
This adorable speakeasy is right smack in the middle of a shopping center where you would never expect it! When you walk in you immediately feel like you're in Brickell or Miami Beach but luckily you didn't have to pay for the parking or the crazy drink prices. They have a great happy hour from 4:00 to 7:00 and then they have a late night happy hour that starts at 11:00 p.m. The mussels are outstanding as is their hummus and the filet mignon skewers. But what really shines in this place for me are the drinks! The bartenders are phenomenal and Kevin in particular has made an old fashioned that knocked our socks off! On Wednesday nights they have a flamenco show. It was more Flamenco Cuban Fusion Style music and it was so much fun! Everybody was clapping along and singing along and you had those Saturday night vibes on a Wednesday! I highly recommend this place. The food, drinks, the bartenders, and the service is impeccable.
Perfect spot for date night! Restaurant is dimly lit and they have live music as well. It creates the perfect intimate atmosphere. The manager Jasmin was so friendly and welcoming and the service was overall a big plus. The food: Portions are a bit on the smaller side BUT every bite was a 10/10. The hen of the woods is a vegan dish of perfectly seasoned mushrooms that mimics the texture of chicken. The star of the show was the seco de res. The short rib was so tender and packed with flavor. We finished off with the tiramisu, as expected it had a very strong coffee flavor which I liked. You can tell it is made in house. Overall 10/10 experience. Would definitely come back.

Food was exquisite. The ambience was nice. Very romantic. Chic. After 1130 though music is very loud and service is only available at the bar. They don't kxik you out though. So as long as you have food and drinks, you can hang out. The tables have this nifty cubi where they keep the cutlery. The entrance is like a laundromat so you may think you're in the wrong place. My third time at Amelias went sour for me as lack of communication from server and staff left me thinking twice about coming back. In my previous review I praised the restaurant very high, specifically because of original and creative it is. Atmosphere is everything and this restaurant transports me every time but...happy hour change my heart. I have come here before at regular hours and ordered drinks at regular price. Thats not an issue for me. But when I decided to do happy hour and take advantage of those prices I was not aware that it was only at the bar. We wanted to also eat comfortably and sit at the table, so we asked to sit at the booth, the bartender could have told us that happy hour was only at the bar, but she did not. When we sat at the table we kept on ordering drinks and even told the servers, both of them the time so they were aware that we were ordering before 7pm. Not once anybody mentioned to us that we were not going to get happy hour prices at the table. As I said, this is my third time, I like this place but I do not appreciate misleading marketing and promos. If they are exclusions you need to mention them front and center. The website does not say anything until you scroll all the way down to hours and honestly it is not even mentioning anything about the restrictions of drinks and brands. The restaurant manager made it a point to show us the fine line in the website and was not able to make any changes to prices and accommodate us, when we complained. Sad, very sad. No restaurant is perfect. Business are run by people and people make mistakes. We all make mistakes but making sure you fixed them and amend as needed is for professionals. Marketing tip from a marketing professional. If they are exceptions a simple asterisk to read more about what those restrictions are should be place somewhere in the artwork. read more

Amelia's is an absolute GEM! You would never expect what awaits for you inside from the outside shopping center where it's located. I'm a regular at Finka, their sister restaurant, and this restaurant simply does not miss. I've been here twice, and both times have been nothing but spectacular. The food, ambiance, and service are top notch. They also play live music on specific days of the week which makes it a cute restaurant to go and sit at the bar for a casual date! 10/10 read more

We stopped by after having dinner. So we only tried the croquetas and pork belly appetizers. The drinks were amazing the service was good. It was Saturday so they had live music. Great relaxed place, food was also amazing. Would definitely recommend. read more

This is our second time here we decided we had liked it the first time and would be great for a friend's upcoming birthday. The service is great. Our server Priscilla is wonderful. The food is good. The special that night was Osso Bucco which was delicious as were the mussels. For dessert we had Timba which is creamed cream Cheese with coconut and guava sauce. WOAH! Before I say anything else, I would like to thank Ashlyn. She was a phenomenal waitress and she definitely made the experience something more. Now for the food. The short rib croquetas are very good. I must admit that I wish they had a thicker texture. They were a little soft for a croqueta. I wish they had more bite but the flavor was off the charts. The pork belly is absolutely divine. It comes with fried cheese and some cucumber salad. I think it's a well balanced appetizer and it left me wanting more. It was however a little small... mind you it was split between 4 people. The French onion soup. Just do it. Try it. You will not regret it. I was not a huge fan of the braised oxtail. The meat itself was delicious but I didn't particularly like the tamal en cazuela. My friends however devoured their meals. The seared airline chicken looked good and my friends seemed to think it was phenomenal. I couldn't try it do to my shellfish allergy. THE SECO DE RES!!! This was incredible. The risotto is a little hard to comprehend. I can't explain it but you can taste the beans. It's absolutely delicious though. It's like nothing I have ever had before. Very creamy and it pairs perfectly with the short rib. This plate was so good. It's such a trip! Please try this, I highly recommend it. The cocktails are PHENOMENAL! But the only one worth talking about has to be the "Caprese." This drink sounds weird on paper and it's even more surprising when it arrives at your table. It is surprisingly decadent. I'm at a loss for words when it comes to this drink. My overall opinion on Amelia's is that this place is a solid 4 stars. The food is visually stunning and mind blowingly delicious. I had gone here once before the pandemic came around and wow is it incredibly different. Was looking for a few appetizers I remember from before and they were long gone. Everything we tried was amazing, but I really want to rave about the Lomo Saltado risotto. The dish was incredibly well put together and now I am dreaming about that ají amarillo risotto. I will also say that the duck in the arroz pato was perfectly cooked. If you want an appetizer, my recommendation would be the oxtail dumplings. Good amount per bite, good value, excellently executed. The waiter was very confident but he gave us incorrect information regarding the amount (said there were five short rib croquetas and we got four) and he didn't follow through on a request he acknowledged regarding the dessert (guava, cheese and galleta María), and not only that, he essentially ignored us after that interaction. Gets a 5/5 because although the service could be better, the food and drinks were delish. read more

We ordered 4 appetizers and our waiter forgot to put in the order for one...which according to him was the best one...the escargot. It was a Tuesday and the place was empty. read more

Party of 6 for dinner on a Sunday. We had an AMAZING time! First off, our night would've not been what it was without Evan taking care of us. Excellence personality, service and recommendations! Please ask for him. Made our dining experience so smooth. Love the new upgrade and all decor. It's beautiful and the scene definitely sets the vibe; as if you're transported to somewhere outside of West Kendall. Really cool concept. Drinks were refreshing (even the mocktails). We had a bunch of dishes from the menu that we all shared. Pork belly, hummus, filet mignon skewers, mussels, short rib, arroz con pato, the chicken was juicy, gnocchi.. all excellent and delicious! Can't forget about dessert... the tiramisu, timba, and cobbler; yum! We'll definitely be back for Jazz Night on Thursdays! read more

Amelia's 1931 es un Paladar en la Havana Vieja, you know the one owned by your friends tio abuelo, el de la esquina. And you know Abuela is in the kitchen making her arroz con pollo. That's how I felt, a noche en la Havana followed by a delicious culinary experience. Besides the exceptional service and ambiance, I enjoyed the fusion of culinary styles. This was the perfect Friday date night. We order the following: App: Humus - because why not. It was delish, it had this sauce that tasted like beans, and aji, with pico. I know doesn't make sense and IDK what it was made of but it didn't matter. It was so good we asked for more pita, because I refuse to leave any behind. Main: Lomo Saltado - give me give me more. The Aji Risotto was the perfect substitution. The meat was tender and flavorful. The sauce, all I can say is that I wanted more and more. Steak and Frites: this was another great simple meal. My bf was not a fan of the sauce, I thought it added character to the meal. Dessert: Timba- this was probably my least favorite food item. I am Cuban therefore I couldn't leave without the Timba but I wasn't a huge fan. The cheese was too watery and milky for my taste. I did appreciate the Maria cookies. I would have loved a thick and creamy cheese with mermelada, but then again that's a personal preference. Overall, it was a great experience. read more
I had high hopes coming to visit post renovations, Amelia's used to be a favorite of mine. I used to enjoy their bento box lunches and other tasty bites I remember. The restaurant is beautiful and beyond what I could've ever imagined the renovation to turn in to since about a year ago that I was last here. Starting with the good.. atmosphere and service is impeccable. From the host to the table, everyone was very attentive. My espresso martini also hit the spot. Bok Choy also really tasty and with the right amount of spice. The rest of my meal was pretty okay though. I also got the chicken skewers, Boniato Gnocchi, and oxtail. My mom did not like her oxtail dish she said the tamal en cazuela that came with it was wayyy to sweet. The waiter offered to switch it so we got filet antichucho instead. To be honest both the steak and chicken skewers had the same exact marinade which just tasted like straight cumin, really strong and not my favorite flavor. The steak skewers were supposed to be Peruvian style and the chicken Korean but they tasted exactly the same, the only difference being the sauces they came with. My gnocchi was okay, I felt like the texture could've been better and the portion bigger considering there was no vegetables or protein in this dish. I got the Cereal Killer cocktail because the description sounded so interesting, but I was a bit dissapointed. Maybe I should've figured that flavors like honey, cherry and cheerios were going to make this a sweet drink but I was really hoping the whisky would've been stronger and balanced it out, instead it was just an overly sweet cocktail for me and I really couldn't taste any of the flavors individually. Again the service was great, they ended up comping my mom's dish. but I can't get past most of my meal feeling a bit average, Hoping to come back and try new things off the menu and be more pleasantly surprised. read more
Evan, the one who took care of us during dinner, is the reason I'm giving Amelia's a 5/5. Forget the fact that every single dish that arrived to the table provided a mouthful of flavors or that the restaurant provides a speakeasy feel with the restaurant window front covered as if you're entering a dry clean store. Evan is the reason. It was a fairly slow night for a Saturday, so Evan allowed us to take our time and think about our food options while providing recommendations along the way. We decided to put our trust in Evan, and allowed him to persuade us into trying dishes we had not intended to try upon arrival...and we are so glad we did! Here's what we had: -Alabariño wine to start. Per Evan, their wines are sourced from private reserves, meaning that only a select amount of bottles of each specific wine is produced rather than mass amounts; therefore, better quality of wine. Cocktails and beers also available. -Pork belly. Plated by alternating between pieces of queso frito and pork belly (you'll want to order this!) -Octopus with spicy black bean purée and crema. Evan suggested to try the first bite of the octopus with just the black beans and crema, and for the second bite, to squeeze a bit of the lime with tajin. Both ways were delicious! -Seco de res. Short rib with abuela's seasoning on top of a perfectly cooked risotto -Coconut cheesecake on Oreo crust. Perfection. No overpowering coconut flavor. Just a perfect balance of flavors. -Cuban old fashioned (made with Brugal 1888 and colada) as an apres dinner sipping cocktail (recommendation of Evan) Evan, thank you for the amazing experience and all of the solid recommendations. Food was incredible! We were a group of 4 and shared 3 appetizers and 3 entrees. The different flavors that each plate had were just amazing. The way Peruvian, Cuban and Korean food was combined was perfection. Our server was Priscilla and I would come back and ask for her again. She was so detailed with all of the plates we asked about and her recommendations were all accurate with food and drinks as well. Can't wait to come back and try new things they rotate on their menu. read more

Besides the fact that this place is very hidden and it took us a few walks around the place to finally find the entrance - this is probably my favorite restaurants in Miami. We ordered the escargot and it was OUT OF THIS PLACE GOOD. If you like escargot or have never tried it before, you MUST order it. It comes with a garlic and cheese sauce that is perfection. We also ordered a gin sour that came with egg white that was the perfect drink for any occasion. For main course, I ordered the bean and ribs risotto while my date ordered the duck. Let me tell you, the duck was soooo juicy! A must try. No complaints about the risotto, but I'd probably order the duck when I come back. The ambiance was very romantic and the service was excellent. Hand down some of the best food I've ever eaten. And let's not even get there yet...... the cocktails... Omg. They are beautiful. Served in the most gorgeous glassware and absolutely delicious! The food is the best because it is a fusion of the Spanish food we all know and love with a cool Asian twist which makes it all the more appealing. The waiter was amazing. Gave some really good recommendations and thanks to him our night was even better! Highly recommend checking this place. Just walking into this place is a trip. It's not often that you find a place where the cocktails are as good as the food. Amelia's is that place. Started with the mussels and escargot which are both outstanding. For my entree I had the rabo on a bed of tamale en cazuela. This dish was phenomenal. Ended with the timba. From start to finish the service was top notch. The remodel at Amelia's is stunning. You can see how much effort was put in, down to the tiny details. It gives off speakeasy vibes and it's a great spot for a romantic date. We went for my cousins birthday and they told us they could not accommodate more than 6 people, so keep that in mind if you are a large party. Drinks: I ordered an espresso martini 10/10. Appetizers: Filet Mignon Anticucho Skewers, Umami Butter Escargot, Octopus, Pork Belly, Chipotle Creamed Corn and Tuna Tataki. Chef Eileen Andrade is a master when it comes to appetizers and these were all 10/10. The escargot was out of this world and the tuna tataki and pork belly were so full of flavor. It's impossible to pick my favorite. Dinner: Whole Thai Branzino! I order Branzino everywhere in Miami and I'm so excited to have finally found the best one. it is so incredibly juicy and flavorful. 10000/10 Overall, Amelia's is a phenomenal dinning experience, the service was incredible and we will be back again to try more. read more

I have not been able to try the food yet, but would like to come back for a meal. So far all I can comment on is the late night happy hour called Amelia's After Dark. The entrance is cute how they make it seem like a laundromat and you can't see the dining room right away. The ambiance once you go inside is retro but cozy. We asked when we walked in where we go for the late night happy hour because the website mentioned it was only served at the bar, but we were seated at a table. We were a little early for it to start. Once it was time to transition to happy hour, it was a little confusing. They shut down the main dining room and bar and only serve from "La Sala" which is a side room with only a few couches for seating and a very small bar. It was already full and we got their early, but didn't know we had to get a seat in La Sala versus the main room. They were nice and accommodated us by seating us in another booth in the main room. Next time we will get a seat in La Sala to begin with but it fills up quick. The drinks were good and worth it for the happy hour prices. We ordered quite a few and they were all very good: Yass Queen, Espresso patronum, Mezcal you later, Machu Pikachu, and Original Sin. the presentation is perfect and super creative names. We had a great time and want to come back and try the food next. read more
The ambiance and food at Amelia's are topnotch. They just renovated and expanded the restaurant. It is beautifully decorated. It is elegant yet peppered with homey touches like family portraits and fringed lampshades. I tried the halibut. It was perfectly seared, but would have been better with more of the pickled Thai chili. It came with hericot verts (green breans), which were fairly unremarkable. My dinner companion had the lomo saltado. This was a triumph. The meat just melted in one's mouth, and the accompanying risotto had a wonderful rich flavor. The best part of dinner was the dessert. It is incredible how the chef was able to turn a normally simple dessert like Timba into a gourmet delight. They just reopened this week, which is probably why the service left a bit to be desired. It took an hour for our food to arrive, and our server never checked in with us during that time. It would've been nice to at least get an apology for the delay. It would have been better if some sort of compensation were offered to make up for the gastronomic tardiness. The busboys plopped the dishes down in the middle of the table, leaving us to shuffle plates around. I hope that with some time, these minor issues will be resolved. Amelia's 1931 has the potential to become the gem of Kendall. read more

This remodel is simply gorgeous. Speakeasy vibes. Place is really nice decorated. Had reservations. Was seated promptly- this was at 6pm. Happy hour. They make craft drinks. Delicious! On the small side. But nonetheless tasty. Appetizers were all amazing, tuna fresh (small), escargot (my favorite), and shishito peppers cooked to perfection. Our main plates were delicious and filling. The service was wonderful and they knew their menu! Would love to come back to enjoy the night vibes with the live music. See you soon xo read more
When you walk in through the doors you're immediately transported to a classy speakeasy type vibe. Beautiful decor and ambiance. They have live music certain nights and the place gets really lively. The food is an eclectic mix of Asian and Cuban. Some dishes are hit or miss. Love the onion soup, that's definitely a hit. Service has always been good for me. Bar service especially is excellent. Absolutely amazing!!!!! The manager Leo was very attentive and accommodating. Our server Willy was excellent; he was patient with our large party of 11 and had great suggestions for the drinks and dishes. The food was DELICIOUS!!! Everyone loved what they ordered and was perfectly cooked. My husband has not stop talking about the airline chicken. He said it was the best chicken he's ever had. We are going back next week and he's going to order the same dish. I ordered the steak frites: steak was a perfect medium rare and the fries seasoning was delicious. I actually ordered an extra order of fries to go because they were that good. The ambiance is beautiful, original and authentic. Can't wait to go back to experience the live music! **Reservations is highly recommended and they are strict with the dress code which I appreciate. When you want to dine at a nice place, it's nice to dress the part. It's part of the experience. If you're bothered by it, you should probably do take out. read more

This one is my favorite restaurants in Miami, and once they did the expansion I love it even more. The ambiance is gorgeous, especially love the live music on Thursdays and abuela's living room area is so cozy. I've been going here since at least 2018 and it's never failed to be delicious. They change the menu every so often, sometimes taking off favorites but they always replace it with something great. Their drinks are delicious too and presented beautifully. I've had the cereal killer, mezcal you later and the espresso martini (which was top notch and I'm not a big martini girl). For food you can't go wrong with the croquetas, tuna aguachile (my favorite), pork belly, and filet minon skewers. We always split appetizers and you're usually good with doing just that. Highly recommend this restaurant. This was our first time visiting. Our waitress Priscilla was very welcoming and super helpful. She informed us of the specials and gave us her recommendations. She was very attentive! The ambiance is beautiful. A perfect date night spot. The food was spectacular. I recommend the red snapper, boniato gnocchi, croquettes, skewers, and potatoes.
