For drinks I had a pineapple margarita that was not my favorite and we also had a Piku machu? Can't remember the name but it was really strong. Being that Finca is one of my faves and I've been visiting Islas Canarias for years, I had high hopes for boujee brunch but was left a bit disappointed. I visited this restaurant many years ago when they first opened and were really small. I remember everything being delicious. I returned this Sunday was excited to see it's more than doubled in size and maintains the beautiful decor and upscale Cuban vibe. I ordered a machine pikachu cocktail which I had to return bc it was not drinkable - and I loooooooove a creative craft cocktail, even more so when it had a spicy kick - this was just bad. The server was very kind and I swapped it for an espresso martini. The thick cut bacon was like giant pork belly pieces, super hot and so tastey. We had the bistec con huevos which was a lomo saltado with a fried egg on top and the short rib hash. Both plates were cold, which was surprising because there were literally only 2 other tables with diners. Also, the short rib hash was NOT it. Too much short rib with a sort of "few days old" taste and barely any potatoes, but the ones that were seemed like a boiled soft cubed potato, not at all what I imagined. We had the cinnamon roll guava desert and oh my lanta, that was amazing! The server was also very attentive. I am going to return so my fiancé can get a real feel for them with the dinner menu. Brunch just wasn't it for me. We spent $110 on 1 cocktail, 1 app, 2 entrees and a desert which is "fair Miami price" although a bit high in my opinion. It took some time for them to even acknowledge that we were there, which is why they didn't get five stars The food was really good. What an amazing night at Amelia's 1931. We dined on a Wednesday night and were pleasantly surprised by the live music and atmosphere. The restaurant was packed and we know why now. The music was awesome, the drinks were perfect, and the food was delicious. We ordered the Short Rib Croquetas, Onion Soup, and the Lomo Salteado. Everything was delish but the Lomo was outstanding! Best we've ever had! Loved Amelia's take on it! We finished up with the Coffee Crème Brûlée which blew us away as well. Original Sin cocktail: 6/10 - I didn't love it, but my mom really liked it, so it could have just been me. Escargot appetizer: 100/10 - absolutely DELICIOUS! I've had escargot at top restaurants in Paris.... these blow them out of the water. Beef tartare appetizer: 7/10 - this was just okay. Not delicious, but not bad. The sauce lacked a bit of flavor. Seco de Res: 8.5/10 - nice flavors! Solid dish, but if I return I'd probably pick something new. Boniato Gnocchi: 10000000/10 - absolutely incredible dish, one of the best I've had in Miami so far! The crispy breadcrumbs balanced the soft gnocchi perfectly. I would return over and over just for this dish. Timba: 5/10 - This dessert fell flat for me. There wasn't enough guava and overall just felt like something was missing. The boniato gnocchi with Parmesan crisp is one of the best things I've eaten in a long long time. My hubby doesn't even like gnocchi and he ate most of the dish. I've had this restaurant on my radar for a while and finally had the opportunity to eat here this week. The restaurant has a speakeasy vibe. It's located in a strip mall in west Kendall, but the outside signage advertises a laundry mat. Once you walk in, you aw surrounded by dry cleaned clothes and a visual of a washing machine. Very cute. The hostess was friendly and sat us very quickly with our reservation. The place is decorated beautifully but the music was a tad loud. Our server and staff were friendly and knowledgeable on all the menu items and cocktails. We started with the escargot and beef tartare. The escargot was amazing! A MUST TRY! The beef tartare was just ok for me. We ran out of bread for the remaining few escargots and ordered some more and they charged us $4 without even telling us. So moderate yourselves with the bread they give you with the app. It's not enough, especially to dip into that amazing escargot sauce. Our main dishes were the risotto with short rib and the boniato gnocchi. The gnocchi was delicious but the Parmesan cheese cracker on top felt a bit stale. The risotto was also delicious. For dessert we had the timba. It was decent, but I felt it was missing something to elevate it to a higher level. Overall we had a great experience and enjoyed the food. This is the second time I come here and each time is amazing! From the moment you open the door, the laundry decor is unique. We came here on Friday night at 8:30 pm and they had live music, which I loved. At first, I thought the music was too loud but the longer we stayed there, the more I found myself jamming to the music. The restaurant was also full, so there was a lot of conversations going which did not help the noise level. Nonetheless, as soon as I walked in, the manager realized I was recording and she immediately got into the video like a natural. I absolutely loved that. We were seated immediately and the manager introduced herself to us and told us who our server would be and if we had any questions, we can ask her. I liked this gesture and wished more restaurants would do it. Our server arrived at the table immediately and provided us some suggestions. Since we were a group, we thought to share various appetizers with drinks. To drink, I had the Machu Pikachu and it was delicious. It was made with tequila and it was a bit spicy but not overpowering. To eat we had charred pulpo, porkbelly, croquetas, dumplings, umami escargot, hen of the woods, crema catalana and timba. Everything was delicious but my favorite was the dumpling, which had oxtail and umami escargot as it was very flavorful. The main ingredient in the hen of the woods dish was mushroom but it was very tasty. If you don't like mushroom, I would suggest to still try this as it didn't really have the mushroom taste. The crema catalana is usually my go to dessert, but they changed the recipe and made it with coffee flavor. I'm not a coffee drinker but I enjoyed its unique flavor. Timba consisted of Maria's crackers, cream cheese and guava. It was good but the crackers were not as crunchy. As to the service, the server was amazing as he kept checking in on us and ensured we had everything we needed. At 11:00 pm, they have their late night happy hour with loud music, which made the place more lively. You can find unique decor throughout the whole restaurants such as antique sewing machines, phone, lamps, piano etc that makes it special. We didn't have a reservation and hadn't heard anything about the place so we decided to try our luck and simply show up for walk in. They took us in but sat us in the back because of attire. I loved that. When you first get in, the theme continues and there's a massive 'washing machine' with clothes in it, and clothes hanging to 'dry'. After that, the decor was very pretty. I took many photos for yelp and for myself. I loved the set up. Service We got seated in the back which I honestly didn't mind because it was quieter, and private. The lady that was serving us was very nice and checked on us several times and was cleaning up our table between courses. The food came in a timely fashion and I stumbled upon what I assume to be the manager and he told me that they are basically reopening the place. They changed things and opened a new Yelp page. So although it seems new, it's not, but at the same time, it is. Food Definitely wanted to try things I haven't before. Started with the Bok Choy which was a cabbage marinated and topped with spices and sauces. It was my first time ever getting it and I actually really liked it. Walking into this place really is a journey back in time. I felt like I was in some Speakeasy from the 50's. We sat at the bar and had some apps and drinks. Needless to say, it's located in your typical Kendall Shopping plaza which that's what it's all about. We go to Finka all the time, so we decided to check this location out from the hype of the bartenders. The ambiance is just spectacular. We sat at the bar and our wonderful and charismatic bartender Jasmine (that I love so much, cause she's such a vibe) made our Sunday night! Her attentiveness, artistic and creative mind, and super fun personality is just a huge plus! We ordered some drinks, some on the menu and some that she invented on the fly, we got two "opening act" dishes (shiitake mushrooms which were the special of the day and charred octopus) and one "main event" dish (Arroz con Pato). I made a reservation at Amelia's 1931 two days ago for my sister's birthday brunch. Today, out of nowhere, the restaurant canceled it. No call, no explanation, nothing. Everyone I invited got the same cancellation email. That's not just inconvenient, it's disrespectful. I've been here before and honestly, it didn't impress me, but I figured I'd give it another chance because the new brunch menu looked fun for a girls' celebration. This experience confirmed I won't be coming back. If a restaurant can't handle something as simple as honoring a reservation or at least communicating with their guests, that says everything about how they value customers. The laundry room entrance concept was great, and although the sign was not very visible, I can respect the "speakeasy" vibes it gives.
