We stopped in for breakfast today, after a fabulous lunch Saturday. Jorge was our server, he was fantastic. I had the Chile Relleno breakfast. Just the right amount of food, great value. We also had an order of pancakes, 2 eggs and sausage. It was a lot of food. Finally a breakfast burrito, it was large .
The presentation of the food was very eye appealing. The service was excellent. Ambiance was happy, relaxing, very clean as the workers were actively cleaning every crevice and surface when I got there. Very clean. Friendly and happy environment . Bar area was clean and Very inviting. Had TVs going shows were a perfect fit. It was my first time there I look forward trying other things on the menu.
I've been to both locations and I prefer the one on Oracle. Their menus at the Oracle location have better options, including their fajitas, which I ordered. I enjoy the chicken fajitas, but the rice was a bit unseasoned, so I wished they added more flavor to it. Also, I had the mocktail mango margarita, and it was yummy. Second, Luis, the server, was an excellent and friendly person. He was helping me to pick my food orders, and his recommendations were really good. Also, I think the Oracle location is more spacious than the one on Grant, particularly with better seatings. I will come here again and ordered something else.
The food was amazing. The staff was all super friendly, even have beautiful handmade mugs that you can purchase for a reasonable price. Absolutely loved the queso with flour tortillas and chorizo was my favorite part and mole enchiladas and drinks were good too. If you're in Tucson, do not miss it so good!!!
I came here because I saw all the amazing reviews and Amelia's did not disappoint. We were greeted and seated right away. The servers were very nice and attentive. The food came out in a very timely manner and they give chips and salsa while you wait. All the food was so good, the tacos and the breakfast burritos, and especially the chilaquiles The resturante looked so nice and clean. I love their LED signage.
I had to go to get a passport renewal last minute and got hungry waiting for the print to happen. I looked for best brunch near me and Amelia's popped up as highly reviewed and I fell like nopales. We got there just intime to beat any brunch rush and we all go to order what we wanted. Nopales con juevo, taco birria, pancakes Nutella and famous margaritas! All of the food was fantastic. I did think it was a little expensive for a family of four but then again what isn't expensive these days. I would recommend this space as a splurge space. We all Enjoyed it, the space was relaxing and the staff was accommodating.
Absolutely loved our experience at Amelia's! After first going to the wrong Amelia's location, we were so happy we ended up at the right one. Great experience! First we started with frozen strawberry and mango margaritas. I dont even like margaritas but they were absolutely delicious. The drinks throughout the night were top notch. On the next round we ordered the award winning classic margarita and the prickly pear/jalapeno margaritas. They were delicious and so fresh. Didn't know margaritas could be so good. Highly recommend. I always care about chips and salsa at a Mexican restaurant. There's were good and we maybe snacked on too many before dinner. For dinner, I basically wanted to eat everything on the menu. I branched out and tried the molcajete mixto that came with steak, chicken, shrimp, cactus, stuffed bacon wrapped pepper all on a hot stone bowl. There's an absolutely delicious tomato sauce literally sizzling the entire time you are eating. I can't tell you how much I loved this. The sauce was so flavorful. The stuffed pepper was spicy and fantastic. It was so delicious that I kept forcing myself to eat more of it and almost got sick overeating. I still had over half leftover. My husband had steak fajitas which he enjoyed. The vibe of the restaurant is casual and fun. Saw kids and adults. The inside is much better than their other location. The service was absolute excellent. Our server Danny was extremely attentive and did an excellent job explaining menu items and bar choices. I cannnot rave enough about how much I loved my dinner and drinks and the service. Highly recommend this place.
Delicious and authentic Mexican cuisine served in a lively, welcoming atmosphere. The restaurant offers plenty of comfortable seating, making it great for both small groups and larger parties. There's also a full bar area with its own seating, which adds to the fun, relaxed vibe whether you're stopping in for breakfast or later in the day. The carne asada breakfast burritos are a standout--flavorful, well-seasoned, and generously portioned. The ingredients taste fresh and the overall quality really reflects authentic Mexican cooking rather than a watered-down version. Everything comes out hot and made to order. The space is clean and well-maintained, including the restrooms, with both unisex and women's bathrooms available. Overall, it's a great spot for good food, a comfortable setting, and an enjoyable dining experience.
The food I tried was good. I enjoyed the mole with vegetable enchiladas. I always enjoy trying a new mole! The mole was slightly tomato-y, not something that I noticed in other moles I have had. I liked the flavor and also liked the texture. I think it wasn't as piping hot as I was dreaming it would be which affected my enjoyment of it a little. The vegetables in the enchiladas were cooked well. The refried beans on the side were smokey and flavorful and the black beans I got instead of rice had a good flavor too (I find that black beans sometimes tend to be more of an afterthought in some Mexican restaurants in my experience) I am glad they now have some vegetarian options that are dairy free and egg free too. I believe both refried and black beans, mole sauce, and red enchilada sauce are vegetarian. The Rice and the flour tortillas are not vegetarian here I believe They had heaters on their patio which was nice. The restaurant in general felt crowded when my husband and I were there like they were maximizing seating more people than they could actually handle both in terms of service and in terms of space. Service was bad and felt unwelcoming. We weren't checked on during the meal and when we finally got the attention of our waiter to tell him that we received the wrong item or when we asked for anything he was impatient and rude. If I come back to eat at Amelia's it would be at a less popular time in the hope for better and more professional service. My general rating system: 1 star: I would stay away 2 stars: Has some good things about it but I generally don't recommend. 3 stars: Pretty good. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back but a decent place 4 stars: Great place. I would go back. 5 stars: I highly recommend stopping whatever you are doing and making plans to try it out! An Evie favorite!
Amelia's is so fantastic that getting a good photo of the food before devouring it is impossible!! I've been to the restaurant itself 5 times, and gotten takeout as many times, if not more, and the quality is unwavering and outstanding. I bring all my visiting friends here! Amelia's does all the things right. Great food. Well priced for quantity, quality, and attention to detail. Attentive service, even on busy days. Outdoor, dog-friendly patio for post hike meals. This is the place to be for great food!

We love coming here, it's become one of our favorite spots. They're known for their award winning quesabirria and honestly I can see why. It's delicious! I've mostly had their enchiladas and tacos here but every time it's just so good. The servers are kind and attentive, and yes this place gets BUSY on the weekends, but we've always felt taken care of. It can get a little loud inside (when it's packed) so sitting outside on their patio has become our favorite places to be. Also their drinks are well crafted - the bartenders do a great job. Their other location is nice as well, a bit smaller, but I prefer the larger bar and drink selection at this location. Any time family or friends come to visit from out of town, we take them here. read more

I had some out of town guests staying in OV and they wanted to meet for dinner - good Mx food was the preference so I suggested Amelia's. They loooooved it. Their "winning" Carrizal margarita was a hit with just the right balance of spice and heat. And their signature quesabirria tacos and chicken tortilla soup were both excellent as usual. Service was good with one caveat. Our server ALWAYS interrupted us without warning or a "pardon me" - the second she reached our table she began talking OVER our ongoing convos. Every time. She was otherwise pleasant and attentive but, man o man, hello? Parking is free in their shared private lot but it can get crowded easily, necessitating a short walk, at worst. Fabulous food, excellent service once again what more could you ask for? We had a wonderful time celebrating my husband's birthday with the grandkids and family. I'm at uploading a few more pictures for foods that we hadn't tried before. Everything was just scrumptious. I know my husband and son-in-law would highly recommend the nachos! And the kids loved the Nutella pancakes with a side of birria tacos. Haha actually they shared two orders between them. And I love the survey. It was great. read more

The drinks are stellar and the food was fantastic! Got a Oaxacan Old Fashioned and 2 tacos and was surprised by the quality and the authenticity of the food. Mama Amelia knew what she was doing tbh this stuff was so good I'd make the drive from Los Angeles just to eat it again. read more
Came here for a Culinary Collaboration Dinner from Luis Martinez and Jose Contreras. it was a wonderful evening. food was very good, some dishes i thought could be better but that's my own taste. Environment was great, met a couple couples next to us while we are our 7 courses. read more
Excellent excellent excellent! We have been to both locations and neither disappoint. Which comes as no surpise given their James beard nomination. The food is beyond incredible. It's simple yet elevated and exploding with flavor. The Molcajete Mixo is visually stunning when it comes out- full of shrimp, chicken, tender beef, with bell peppers wrapped in bacon and stuffed with pure goodness. Plus plenty of nopales and bubbling tomatillo to add to your bites. The queso with chorizo is a delicious starter. And you really can't go wrong with any of their specialty drinks! Service was good- a little forgetful but overall very kind and helpful. Oh and- order the churos- even if you're full, they are delicious!!! read more

Simply amazing! Mole was SOOOO good. Service from Gabe was impeccable, efficient and very timely. And the margaritas are award winning for a reason. I was surprised to see some negatives reviews but now I agree. The food has gone downhill. The past 2 times I've been here, it was not that good. Tonight we had the molcajete mixto. The chicken and steak were severely overcooked, the chicken was inedible. The shrimp were overcooked and not cleaned (still had the poop vein). The torito was the best item in the whole dish. The rice had no flavor. The time before this we had shrimp fajitas that were flavorless. The service was great the both times I've been recently. However, I will not be rushing back. read more
What absolutely delicious gem of a restaurant! We stopped in for lunch today and got the quesabirria tacos and the chilaquiles with green sauce and carne asada. We shared, and both dishes were fantastic! The sauce on the chilaquiles was very rich and flavorful, standing up well against the eggs and carne asada. The quesabirria tacos were really excellent too -- and I say that as someone who's gotten quesabirria tacos at easily two dozen different restaurants in Tucson. The tortillas were really strong, and had crisped up nicely along the edges. The birria and consommé were both packed with flavor! I savored absolutely every bite. I was also impressed by the beans; I'm usually not a fan of refried beans in general, but these were really well-cooked and well-seasoned. I finished every bit! We sat outside, but I will also say I really liked the decor inside. The colorful paintings on the walls and bright blue and white tiles make for a really charmingly happy vibe! read more

We attended the Tour Oaxaca at Amelia's Mexican Kitchen on Oracle Rd on August 30th. The tour featured 7 courses featuring the region. We appreciated the care with which each offering was crafted. Course 1 - Oyster, Course 2 - Tostada, Course 3 - Tetela, Course 4 - Sope, Course 5 - Taco de Plaza, Course 6 - Mole Negro, and Course 7 - Nicuatole. The atmosphere was very lively with music in the background and the Dia de Los Muertos mural on the back wall. The 'experience' was held in the back of the restaurant closest to the mural. I was hoping to hear from the chef's more about each course and it's significance to the region. We ordered drinks before dinner service. The drinks featured with the dinner were mescal based and very tasty. Our trio tried the Old Fashioned, Paloma, and the Mule. The drinks were 10/10. It seemed like a long delay before the 1st course came out but after the first course, they were rolling and the service was well coordinated. Every server was AMAZING! They were each eager to serve and truly invested in making sure that everything was coordinated well. Some of the best service I've received in Tucson. After each course, they would swing by to ask how we enjoyed everything. The food was good. I especially enjoyed course 1, 4, and 6. No one in our party liked the dessert course. The consistency was like a flan but the taste fell flat. Overall, I thought the experience was ok but there were some missed opportunities for education and connection in the event. However, their regular menu appears to fantastic. Patrons dining for the regular menu all appeared to thoroughly enjoy their entrees. They also have a cute outdoor patio with misters and the temperature was very comfortable. So, we will definitely check them out again. read more

Visited this spot after spending the day at Saguaro National Park and it was good. I'm from LA and don't care to eat Mexican food outside of so cal unless I'm in Mexico but this was really good. I went with a group of 6 and everyone enjoyed their food Birria was pretty good. I got quesabirria with ramen and an extra shrimp quesabirria taco. The shrimp taco was bomb! I dipped it in my soup for some extra juice. Others got fajitas and enchiladas, and they said it was ok. Guac and beans was good. Our server was great and had great recommendations. I'd definitely recommend it. read more

Best Mexican restaurant in Tucson! Everything from the house margs to the opening salsa is delicious. I am a fan of the seafood Molcajete, but also got the street tacos last time I went and they were just as good. You also can't beat their prices at all and they serve breakfast all day. The service was super fast and the servers are all very nice. Also I love the faux plant wall with neon signs, it's a nice touch. We will be going back many times to come. read more

1st time I tried the chile relleno n it was ok. Second time I tried the quesabirria tacos with rice n beans on side. They were ok. It's like the food needed salt and the salsas needed heat. This is second time here n even mechilada was bland. My husband tried the 3 taco plate. One taco was chicken n one was asada n one was pastor and he said he doesn't ever need to come again. Bummer seeing everyone raves about it but after eating Mexican food all over Cali I've yet to find a mole as good as in Santa Monica on pico blvd. read more

Our first time visiting Tucson, we found this place via Yelp. I would drive the 2 hours to just visit this place.! We enjoyed the combo plate, and the quesabirria. Flavors were on point, complimentary chips& salsa were perfectly roasted and seasoned. Drinks were refilled before they were even half finished. Our server ROSA was on her A game. They seem like a well-oiled machine between the runners, and wait staff. The flow of this place is very nice. Loved the plating as well. read more

We enjoyed a truly delicious lunch here. The craft cocktails were excellent, and I loved the impressive variety available. The salsa was exquisite, fresh, vibrant, and beautifully balanced. This is a nice little restaurant with some great food. The service is top notch. We dined in the outdoor area which was very pleasant. The food has plenty of flavor and the portions are generous. We came here for dinner on Monday night and were surprised by how busy it was. I requested time between the appetizer and entrees, but the entrees arrived just a couple of minutes after the appetizer. The shrimp ceviche was way too salty, and the Christmas-style sauce on the chicken enchiladas was similarly salty, with the chicken itself overcooked. The steak fajitas were unfortunately inedible--both of us found the steak too fatty and overcooked to even chew, leaving most of the plate untouched. Disappointingly, no one checked in with us about it. The beans and rice were the only good part of the meal. As for drinks, neither the Cadillac nor regular house margaritas were to my taste, but the spicy margarita was enjoyable. The sangria tasted like watered-down red wine without much fruit flavor. read more
This is a very popular restaurant, but we were lucky to snag a place at the bar when visiting back in February. Our service was great throughout our meal and we really enjoyed our cocktails (spicy margarita and prickly pear margarita). The chips and salsa were nice and the salsa had a nice kick to it. My wife got the birria tacos, which she loved, and I got mixed fajitas that were delicious. We really enjoyed our meal here and would come back here again in a heartbeat! read more

My partner and I noticed Amelia's when stopping by a nearby business and decided to give it a try. The staff was very friendly and seated us promptly. We enjoyed some chips and salsa while deciding what to order. I opted for Shrimp street tacos, and my partner got shrimp enchiladas. The three street tacos was a perfectly sized serving for me, and the dish was flavorful without being salty. My partner enjoyed his enchiladas too. Amelia's has an open, bright interior and is casual. It was busy the whole time we were there. We will go back if in the area. read more
