    Mango Lassi

This place shouldn't be considered an Indian restaurant. None of the food tasted or looked Indian. The owner is Chinese and the cooks are Hispanic. There's nothing Indian about this place. The naan didn't even taste or look like naan. It tasted dry, then and burnt. The food we ordered was horrible and the service was pretty bad. Their mango lassi wasn't good either. The ambiance was mediocre at best. We ended up not finishing our food and decided to pay and leave. If you want Indian food, this is definitely not the place.

This place is Tucktaway in north Hollywood! There is parking in the plaza. There is a lot of food options here, but I saw a TikTok video on this place so I was curious because ever since I moved to LA I've been meaning to find a great Indian restaurant! This place was completely empty, which made me a little nervous for dinner, but the server was super sweet and while I was waiting for my friend to arrive the server, gave us complementary soup! Which was very sweet! They have so many selection of naan-which is insane! The chicken here is super tender and it wasn't dry at all! We will definitely be back and would recommend for those that are in the area. I need a fix for Indian food!

Chicken Mushroom Curry w Garlic Nan

Feb 27.2024 Dinner tonight was terrific! The chicken tikka masala was better than my last foray into Indian food at Anar, what with the chicken mushroom curry. Tikka masala is a tricky dish to get just right: there needs to be good quality chicken, of course, but what separates the men from the boys is the sauce. I've had it be off for its sweetness or spiciness, for the texture being just too runny or, conversely, too thick and gloppy-- in short, there are a whole host of instruments in the symphony and if one is off? Then it's no bueno. I'm happy to report that Anar's tikka masala begins with a generous portion of chicken in nicely cubed preparation and the rich, creamy sauce is not too spicy when ordered with "medium spice level" and it's the perfect viscosity (9/10). Ladled over their excellent saffron rice and paired with a cup of their homemade soup that is just delicious for just $3 more and you have a hearty meal that is sure to make you want to return... loved it.

Pretty sure I'm high up on the leaderboard for # of times eaten at Anar. This place is heavenly. Everything is fantastic, you really can't go wrong with any option here. Friendly service, very affordable with 2 for 1 deals, fast prep, delicious food, a wealth of selections to choose from, if you're craving Indian food, check it out asap. My favorites are the paratha, chicken tikka masala, tandoori chicken, and mango lassi. The paratha is large, soft and crisp at the same time, flakey, and absolutely perfect. Probably my single favorite item on the menu. Chicken tikka masala is my go to pairing with paratha or naan. Served hot, creamy, with chunks of tender chicken cubes, it's comfort food for the soul. Mango lassi is always delicious and complements anything eaten here. Rich, sweet, and yummy, you may want to get a couple for yourself to drink the next day as well. Tandoori chicken is a staple dish in Indian culture, and Anar's does it justice. Tender, great flavor, sitting on a bed of delicious bell peppers and onions. Winter is coming, so try the chicken soup as well. It's one of the best around. They even have chicken wings, which are amazing. They're crispy and great game-day food with a side of ranch.

We forgot to take pictures of the food. That's how good it was. Will definitely be coming back here. We got the sag paneer, chicken tikka masala, the biryanis, beef samosas, and curried mussels. Everything was delicious. Staff was attentive and helpful. Great suggestions

Great food every time I visit! Consistently delicious food for more than the 10 years that I've been coming here! Jairo's hospitality is the best around! Treat your self often by enjoying the delicious healthy food sold here!!

Covid-19 got me supporting local businesses from take-out. Ordered the Chicken tikka masala. Hot. lunch special. And that's exactly what I got. For ten dollars, it's on the more bargain side of lunch specials. Comes with rice and naan. The chicken tikka masala had a nice smooth texture and a lot of flavor. I ordered it hot, and that's exactly what I received. It wasn't insanely hot, but just right. The naan was slightly burned. And the rice was a little bit unseasoned. This prevents this review from being a five-star experience, but at least the main dish was a knockout.

Chicken Tikka Masala and Chana Masala. They tasted exactly the same.

Instead of serving it as a meal like advertised in the menu, the owner decided that he is going to milk me dry. To me, him overcharging me said EVERYTHING I needed to know about him as a person. Dishonest. He charged me: $20 for the Palak Paneer ($15 on the menu!) $20 for the Lamb ($15 on the menu!) $10 for the Naan ($5x2) Literally $5 for a single piece if Naan!!) $9 for the Stella and even charged me for the rice that was supposed to come with the meal. The total for ONE PERSON was $73+ I left $80 in cash since this was going to be the LAST money I ever spend at this place. As for the food. The rice & Naan bread was good. The palak was a lil spicy (weird!) and the curry lamb was super spicy. I hate spicy food. The lamb was super soft like it was boiled. Not very tasteful. Nauseating. The owner told me he had opened another restaurant in Fresno. I'll make sure to avoid that restaurant as well! AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE! Trying to take advantage of a woman is not good for business. PS. LOOK at the picture they posted outside to lure people in. The rice was clearly included with every main course. Nice try to now deny it.

But the food is not generic nor low-rent. I had the lunch special, and picked the Vindaloo Chicken, which was tasty, and had quite a kick (I asked for medium, so be warned). It also came with a veggie, and I chose chickpeas, which also came in a delicious sauce, but was not spicy. There was also a salad, which was just some lettuce and dressing, though it was good. Oh, and the rice, the rice was good. I also ordered buttered naan, and while I wish it didn't have so much butter on it, it was still really good, chewy and soft and flavorful. Oh, and everything was super hot when it came out. Clearly, it was not pre-made. As for the place itself, while, as I said, it didn't look like much, it was clean, and the staff were friendly and attentive. Parking, however, may be an issue, as it's in a mini mall, and the spots were all gone when I got there (noon on a Thursday). Though I found street parking easily enough. Will I go back? Don't know. There's a place I like better, but their service sucks, so I'm kind of torn. But maybe.

(Take-out: 03/07/26)…read more IN SHORT: Beyond exceptional - phenomenal - sensational. My take-out was popadoms, mango pickle, carrot pickle, garlic basil naan, mulligatawny soup, chicken buna, chicken balti, fried rice. PROS: insanely delicious and authentic Indian cuisine, succulent tender & crumbly chicken (100% very fresh white meat), melt in the mouth awesomeness, the freshest of spices & ingredients, with exceptionally-good service - top notch, lovely staff. In short, the BEST Indian cuisine I have ever had in Los Angeles. You will NOT regret this choice of restaurant, I guarantee. CONS: Almost none, but I would say the poppadoms were advertised as 4, but were more like 2 - difficult to tell since they come in broken pieces in a small brown paper bag (for take-out); also, the garlic basil naan was a little too 'doughy' for my personal liking, but that's just me - no biggie whatsoever - it was still fabulous. Limited parking on the lot, but street parking all around in the historical neighborhood of sweet Los Feliz. Inside, the main restaurant is medium-sized (cosy & intimate, certainly not cramped) and totally gorgeous - plush decor, terrific ambience, high-class romantic vibes, perfect lighting and music, with very pleasant seating booths for parties of four, and the some additional tables for two. Great choice for a date night. SPICE LEVEL ADVISORY: I had requested my two curry dishes as spice level 'hot', and they really were at the top-end of my tastebud limits (I am a very experienced curry diner from Manchester, England, where hot really does mean hot!) - both dishes were truly out-of-this-world (no exaggeration), but they really blew my socks off - in a good way. Can't imagine having spice level 'very hot' as I'm sure that would be WAY too much for me to handle. But, you on the other hand, should totally go for it - if you dare! :-) In conclusion, I was literally blown-away by this wonderful restaurant - both metaphorically and gastronomically. Thank you to the lovely lady and her brother who made this, my first try-out, unforgettable. From this day forward, my 'go-to' Indian restaurant without hesitation. Finally, I found you! :-)

So while the prices were higher than our previous favorite, this ended up being a better value. We noticed from an online menu that they used to have a mango coconut curry. The server informed us that they've since trimmed things down as some people felt the old menu was too vast and varied to navigate. They still prepare most of the dishes, which is great.
