First off the food was pretty good. I ordered the bag of three different seafood items (mussels, shrimp, and King crabs legs) and the vegetables with sausage. I prefer the Cajun spice with a level of 2 or 3 (3 is pretty hot and that's for a native Tucsonan). I'd definitely go there before the dinner rush of anything after 5:30. Why three stars? Because the service is not the greatest and they need more staff too. We waiting a very long time for our drink refills and bill. I liked the food but the service is lacking. Go early and you should be fine. It's a lil pricey too. The seafood is priced according to market value, so who sets the market price? Hmm. Wine glasses were like $10-12! Waited a year to try the Angry Crab Shack and now I'm kicking myself for having waited so long. We went here after coming back from Phoenix and brought my son and his family. Got calamari and gumbo as appetizers. Both good, but the gumbo was a tiny bit salty. For an entree, I got the king crab with Cajun rub and Trifecta sauce. Perfectly cooked and the seasonings were astoundingly yummy. Everyone's entrees were tasty and we were stuffed at the end of our meal. The only complaint I have is that when someone has a birthday... please warn your guests with small children that they are going to yell about it and then sing. Loudly. We had my one year old grandson with us and this happened three times in a single visit. It terrified him and he cried every time. Please, a little warning next time. We did the boil for 2, it was great. That's wasn't the problem. We ordered our daughter Mac and cheese. We got our order about 1 hour after we ordered, our daughters food didn't come out until 1.5 hours after we ordered all of our food. It was me my husband and daughter, it was not that busy in the restaurant. When our daughters food came out (only after I kept asking about it several times) the macaroni and cheese was frozen. I try and go to at least one seafood, or bbq place whenever I go to a new city/state. This time angry crab was selected because they have both bbq AND seafood. I mean why not right ? They weren't that packed inside so we were seated right away. This seafood place is one of those not so big kind of joke in the wall looking places that has all the writing on the walls and tables so you know it's him be good haha. Well not so much. My wife ordered 1lb head on shrimp 2 corn 1 order of sausage in the "trifecta" sauce. (Mild) and a side of white rice. I ordered the two meat plate; chicken and brisket with mac and cheese and bbq beans as my sides. The chicken was eh...ok it tasted like it had too much pepper ? Idk but the brisket my goodness was that good! It came with a small bbq which was REALLY GOOD. It even made the chicken taste better. The mac and cheese was pretty good. Definitely stove top not oven mac lol. It was really creamy. Like a little too watery creamy but by the end the sauce had thickened up. The bbq beans were really good too. They had a sweetish taste to them but not too sweet. The seafood boil was just ok. The shrimp were a bit overcooked. I did not care for the sausage at all but my wife liked them. The corn were those frozen corns you get from the grocery store . The sauce wasn't a thick sauce. The shrimp would not hold the sauce AT ALL I thought that was weird. The side rice was extremely small. I mean EXTREMELY small. My wife ended up having to order a second, almost a third but thought against because, no lie it took like 20 minutes for them to bring us the rice. At the same time we ordered the rice I ordered bread (I thought it was loved bread being that we're at a bbq spot) and the bread took even longer than the rice . The GOOD The BAD The ANGRY: For the love of seafood we went to try out Angry Crab. We arrived late Sunday night. It was not very busy but enough guests not to be discouraging- always a discouraging thing to walk into an empty establishment- ALWAYS! A little background: I come from a coastal country so I was raised on seafood. In fact I am always saying to people that in my country we have crawdads the size of what they sale here in the supermarkets as lobsters. I also lived in Virginia Beach where I grubbed on more seafood as well as on my travels all over the Southern States, so I have had my share of "boils" - East coast to NOLA. We had to wait a while before being seated and they had closed a apart of the restaurant due to the late hour - 2030 so there was a short discussion amongst the wait staff where we were allowed to sit. Which I thought funny because they took their time to seat and they could have figured that out before hand - maybe? Anyhow it was not that big of a deal- just silly really. To the GOOD: our server was Steve and he was good- very good. After we told him it was our first visit he was very good at explaining how the menu work with the spices and heat levels without sounding disengaged or condescending- excellent job. He gave us a little more time to make our selection. The Cajun fries were crisp and lightly seasoned- but I would agree with other reviewers that it the portion was minimal- however, they are meant to be side not the main attraction. The BAD: I have a preference for picking at the sweet succulent crab meat of the blue crab- Dungeness are big but no where as sweet as blue crabs. I also love sucking out the brain matter of the crawdads. They had neither available. Steve informed me after I had decided I want those two items that Blue Crabs are no longer on the menu and Crawdads/crayfish were out of season. The sides that came out with our food was minimal and overly sweet for my taste- that is the very runny slaw and bbq beans. The sweet potato fries were wilt and not crispy but I appreciate that they had them as an option. I've included a picture of a very ill placed giraffe in this place. I was trying hard to over come my World Cup withdraws by watching a the US soccer league game which was obscured by this crazy giraffe- please move it where it does not get in the way?! The ANGRY (the feisty friend that surprises you):In the end we ended up trying the cod basket and the gator nuggets and pound of snow crab. I ordered the Grim Reaper(the dark brown/red in sauce container pictured) sauce and discovered that it was actually HOT! It is a wonderful kick in the rear for those of us that prefer it HOT, but with enough flavor that it is well worth the torture. LOL According to Steve it is composed of a blend of the Scorpion, Ghost and North Carolina Reaper peppers. I believe they also added garlic, cumin and black pepper, smoked paprika and bay leave- any which way it was very tasty. I will admit it is about as spicy of a sauce as I have ever eaten. Overall, nothing bad - nothing so good that I have to come back but over all I would return if another of my friends want to try the Grim Reaper - for sure. read more

BUT they straight up forgot about the 3rd person meal only 2 of us got our food YES after about 15 min later manager came over becase we were looking around we did get a discount but we were hwre to enjoy a nice lunch.. anyway to the server we probably were able to get about two refills out of her I'm not really her from people walking around... she said be comfortable to ask anybody around if you need anything but nobody will be around and honestly there is maybe 10 tables in the whole restaurant.. took also took FORVERR for food to come out! Okay so I saw so many amazing reviews of this place so my friend and I decided to check it out. Off the bat it seemed very busy so it seemed that people did really enjoy it. My friend and I ordered some mussels and some crawfish we got the Cajun sauce with medium spicy, and some Cajun fries. Okay looking st the bag itself it seemed super overly oily. We shook the bag to get some of the actual seasoning on the food. Taking one bite and my mouth was already on fire....and I love spicy food. This not only was super spicy but it was flavorless spicy. So it really was spicy oil that hurt. Second, due to it excessively spice level for just MEDIUM it was not filling. On the other hand the Cajun fries were amazing. I probably wouldn't go back. Update!: so my same friend and I decided to give this place another try. Unfortunately at that time the crawfish were out of season so they had none but we decided to get the trifecta with extras sauce so the taste was a lot stronger and only mild spicy. We got the mussels and shrimp and some Cajun fries. Cajun fries were to die for like last time, and the seafood and sauce this time was amazing. Perfectly made. We will be going back soon for the crawfish Alright update: they have just been under new management so they have been pretty busy. Yet still unorganized!!!! There was a giant party of people who ordered after me or I guess during when I order TO GO! The front guy said it would be ready in 10 minutes. So I wait I'm not in any rush but I wait about 15-20 minutes before I go back and ask when my food is coming. He said oh... seems like they put the GIANT ORDER OF 15 or more people before my to go order of one. Beef to Boil it's all good, I would go for really good, maybe even better than really good, I would stop before most best though (room to grow). There is one thing for sure there is no going away hungry from this place, I have never been able to finish any meal here. I am a big fan of the soft shell crab, it's fried perfectly and it is something uncommon here in the desert. The sides are all amazing, the red potato salad is my fav but, the mac and cheese, the beans, and the coleslaw all run a close second. The service is super courteous and expeditious, with multiple servers at your disposal they all will help wit all your needs and, they write their name on table paper. The only thing I'm not a fan of is the disposal of the waste at the end of the meal, they roll everything on your table up into a big wad and throw it away. These balls of trash can be huge, and then my mind goes there, multiply this heap by 100 tables or more a night all going into the landfill. Most people don't think about the waste, but I just can't help myself, someone needs to think about these things (call me a tree huger if you want). This was the first crawfish boil experience I've ever had and i have to say i really did enjoy it. The service was pretty good, I had went out with my family on a Sunday afternoon. We had ordered the crab and the shrimp which were cooked perfectly. Some of the best crab I've ever had in Tucson. The trifecta sauce (garlic,lemon pepper, cajun) with the 2 and 3 spice level. If you're a fan of spicy I definitely recommend it they know their spice. If you don't really have the taste for it stay to no spice like my grandfather did. Visiting from Cali, looking for somewhere to eat seafood and we definitely found a great place to dine in. We were skeptical to eat in. But the restaurant had plenty of space between the tables and we sat in an area that was away from others. Currently California is not allowing dine in services so we took advantage of this option to dine in... The restaurant has a customer sink close by for washing your hands since they offer seafood steam pots...Wait time was minimal and the staff was very friendly. We ordered a variety of seafood so let's first start off with the seafood pot with shrimp and snow crab the seasoning we chose we probably could of went up on the heat but overall it was hot and flavorful. We also ordered fried catfish and cod very tasty lightly seasoned. The only thing we did not care for was their potatoes salad and tarter sauce it's a bit to sweet for our liking but overall the food was good and the wait staff was very attentive to our needs. read more

Some of the worst service I've ever experienced! Went to the Angry Crab in Tucson earlier this week; the lounge was busy during the dinner rush. I sat at the bar; the area I sat at had been recently vacated, so there were some dishes that needed to be cleared. The bartender was busy pouring some beers, but a few minutes later she cleared the dishes away and took my order... neglecting, however to wipe the bar down... So i did it for her with some of the paper towels that were handy. I wasn't too hungry, so I just ordered a side of coleslaw and a cocktail. I received my drink without any difficulty. Some minutes later a young man approached and asked if I ordered coleslaw; when I acknowledged that i had, he flung the food in front of me without another word, and scampered off... he was clearly unconcerned that I didn't have utensils. After some minutes, the bartender responded to my dilemma, and provided a fork. While seated at the bar, I had a lot of time to watch the bar staff... I listened as the two women behind the bar bantered back and forth and gossiped in Spanish about all manners of happenings in their lives...and their friends' lives... They were clearly more interested in themselves, and of griping about their personal problems, than in doing their jobs serving customers. The couple next to me was clearly irritated at the lack of attention they received. When I finished my drink, and the staff was ignorant of asking me if I wanted another drink, I ultimately caught the attention of one of them, and ordered a follow-on drink. Their preoccupations with each other, and not their customers, during the hour that I observed them was staggering... A classic opportunity for implementing an Undercover Boss type of scenario... If management truly cares, they would be shocked by what they saw... And lastly, if this is representative of the standards in the front of the house, in the public eye, there is no telling what standards may (or may not) exist in the kitchen... read more

For a seafood restaurant known for their spices I was concerned at the lack of any yummy aroma in the restaurant, then while waiting I watched 1male server pick his nose on the way out of the kitchen. My first time here! The atmosphere is loud so it's perfect if you have kids that like to scream. The staff was very friendly but the service was very slow. We waited approximately 30 to 40 mins for our food to come out and their tables were not even full. When we did receive our food, they forgot our appetizer and brought it out after the food. The food was delicious, although I think the waiting made it taste better because we were starving. They didnt offer to discount or remove the appetizer from the bill and didnt even apologize for it being late. We ordered the king crab, headless shrimp, calamari, and corn bread. First you pick your seafood, then you pick a seasoning type, then a spiciness level, and then you can add vegetables (greens, corn, potatoes,) for an extra charge. I am going to give this place five-stars even if its not perfect. I have been in the place three times for lunch. I had the fish and chips twice-$10. The fish was nothing special but the French fries are the best in town. I also had the catfish and fries which is $11 at lunch. The catfish was lightly breaded and perfect. You have a choice of coleslaw or rice and beans along with the fires. The rice and beans was a little too peppery. Within a short distance on Broadway there are three really good places to have lunch inexpensively, BJ's, Longhorn, and now Angry Crab. Party of 3 with a 45 min wait to be seated is not common, but can see reason especially if there is only one and a new attraction in town. Finally got to try Angry Crab, last time in town we were at Joe's Crab Shack, which was a pleasant family experience. Made it in for a late lunch and got caught in shift change. Wasn't too busy, but chalking up the slow service to the change-out. We had a small party of 4 plus a child. Ordered the king crab and brisket sandwich. The 1lb King crab came out a little longer than ideal, and we were quite disappointed in the size and quality. Was overcooked, hot butter was an extra charge, and the corn on cob was only quarter sized. For the wait, price, quality, definitely did not feel we got our money's worth. Brisket was dry, though the sauce was decent. Second waitress was nice, I suppose our expectations were way off for the establishment. A party of 10 of us went out to celebrate after our wedding. It started out well enough, it wasn't super busy at all. We waited quite a while for drinks . The waitress messed up three of our food orders, never came back to ask for refills on drinks orders. The manager was helpful, but we never saw him again and actually we had more problems he needed to address. Then the waitress broke a glass. I have to say the orders that were correct were delicious ! Holy crab, this place is legit!!! Pun intended. We got 1lb snow crab legs with corn, potatoes and in the trifecta sauce (#2 spice level). We also got shrimp basket with coleslaw, seasoned fries and cornbread. Amazing! Everything was delicious! We went in around 2pm on a Thursday and service was quick, great and food came out relatively quickly. My favorite part was our waitress, Jezka. She went above and beyond! She actually sat down with us to go over the menu, since it was our first time. I had such a good time that I asked about current restaurant info, like reservations, busy times, to go, etc. Sounds like they don't do reservations and it's first come first serve. Busy times seem to be dinner, especially on a Fri and Sat so be potentially prepared to wait. And this location isn't currently doing to-go orders. I'm totally fine with all of these business decisions, especially since the service is so awesome. I love Angry Crab in Phoenix and I recently moved down to Tucson so of course I'm so excited that they have one open here now! My fiancé and I ate lunch there on a busy day but still received excellent service! Our server was friendly and came to check up on us often despite how busy it was. He even made a great suggestion of getting my sauce on the side when he overheard us debating on spice-levels. Something i totally didn't even think about it! I loved Angry Crab in Phoenix for their fair prices and good food and the same stands for this location. Not to mention it's nearby so we can go all the time now!
