We've driven past here before and finally stopped for breakfast. Overall, had a very positive experience. Staff were very friendly, service was excellent, and each of our eggs, hash browns, turkey sausage and bacon were all really good. Overall, a cozy breakfast joint that's a solid choice for breakfast if you're in the area.

My husband and I went to Red Apple Pancake House on a Sunday morning. We met two friends there and had a really nice breakfast. It was busy but not crowded. The servers were very nice and attentive. I liked that ther was a calm and relaxed atmosphere. I ordered the chocolate chip pancakes and my husband ordered the three bread French toast. The pancakes were plain with some chocolate chips sprinkled on top. The three bread French toast gave you the opportunity to try the banana bread, cinnamon swirl bread and crunch French toast on one plate. For a traditional tasting breakfast in a cozy environment, I recommend Red Apple Pancake House.

Just like grandma used to cook!! Place was packed on arrival, waited 5 minutes. Sat near the kitchen so I was able to see everything being served. O man, I wanted everything!!! 2 people ordered enough for 3.5 people. The build your own sandwich did not even have a chance! That was inhaled in 30 seconds (croissant, egg, cheese, sausage patty). The country fried steak came either chicken or beef, went with beef, yum!! Skillet, I look down then looked up, gone! Wait staff was super friendly, from the gentleman that sat us to the waitress that waited on us, all awesome!! Will be re-visiting!!

Chappie's was a random pick for us to go have brunch at while we were in the Palatine area. Chappie's had been on my list of brunch restaurants to check out. When we got to the restaurant it was peak lunch time and the restaurant was almost 3/4 full. We got seated promptly. We took our time to look at their menu and decide as they had a good menu variety. We ordered drinks in the meantime. I got a regular coffee and a Chappieccino (cappuccino w/ Chappie's face, Chappie being their family dog, a Corgie). We ordered a Bacado Omelet w/ a side of pumpkin spice pancakes instead of regular pancakes and hashbrowns, a Huevos Rancheros, and a special of 2 Eggs x 2 Pancakes x 2 Sausage links (instead of bacon). I had the Bacado Omelet which had bacon, avocado, scallions, cheese, and I asked for chopped jalapeños which did not have an up charge. The omelet was good. I liked the way it was cooked. The hash browns were cooked to perfection. They were exactly the way I like them, crispy and soft. They also have me a fried green chili pepper (Chile Toreado) on the side which added a nice spicy taste. The specialty pumpkin spice pancakes with pumpkin puree whipped cream was really delicious. I loved its taste. The Huevos Rancheros was the best dish at the table. It was perfectly cooked with two fried corn tortillas, eggs over easy, fried beans, red salsa, and cheese. It tasted great. I liked it more than my dish. The special of 2 Eggs x 2 Pancakes x 2 sausage links was tasty as well. We had a good experience and would go back. Definitely recommended. Check it out.

First of all the catering food that was ordered was for 20 25 people, yes there are way more guest than that but some came late and here were no more food by the time they came. Once again thats ok because they didnt go there to eat. Example food ordered was 25 people but guest are around 35. The restaurant charged all 35 people for food even tho they only provided food for 25 people. And people who camr and dis not eat are eqsily spotted if staff wanted to count properly and pay attention. They also put out a shrimp cocktail with the buffet that has extra charge and they should have monitored this instead of putting it with the buffet food. Or not put any at all. Drinks was at their own (guest) expense and i feel like the price for the drinks were doubled. Our party had a karaoke set up and at the end they said that if we wanted to continue karaoke we can do it in the.main dining because they needed to clean the section we were in but never mentioned that they are charging for the additional time. Everything was not done upfront and clear and therefore not going back to support this place. Basically food is ok but shady transactions and CLARIFY everything before booking a party.

The kids liked the small quesadillas i think-- not greasy and nice plain flavors, easy to please the kids. My oldest really liked the tuna melt and it was good, and generous portions. Easy to split with the other kids. The ironman in comparison is so tiny and not worth the price-- which is really just paying for the "health" aspect of it. I get it. And Baker's Square closed YEARS ago in SoCal. Missed their pies and baked goods! So imagine my (pleasant) surprise when I found this little place in Palatine! I decided to head there for a brekky on a cool May morning. Stepped in, saw all the breads, pastries, and pies along the front counters- wow. I was greeted warmly and seated instantly. My waitress came right away, and I ordered unleaded (decaf for those in the know). It came in a little pot, ala IHOP, and was really, really GOOD. Wow. Decaf has come a long ways from the Sanka days! I ordered the INN-CREDIBLE V.I.B. which allowed me to order 4 yummy items of my choice - I chose the french toast (yummy and spiced just right albeit w/room temp syrup- not a deal-breaker but notable), a strawberry crepe (totally awesome strawberries, but the crepe was a bit colder than expected); scrambled eggs (always a nice stalwart) and two turkey sausage links (as with the frenchie above, nicely flavored!). The ambience was modern, updated, and felt welcoming and (thankfully) a bit familiar. Brought back some good ol' memories even if only the Baker's Square part of the menu was just pies nowadays. But the Village Inn lives on! And that counts - and I'll return. You should check it out too if you enjoy a good brekky at a classic American diner!

Overall it is cheerful and comfortable but the air conditioning was cranked up a little too much making me want to leave as soon as possible. The service was friendly and attentive although we were seated next to the kitchen so we overheard many of the staff's comments as they were going in and out of the kitchen. One of the waitstaff was clearly counting down the three hours left on his shift. The food was okay. While reviewing the menu you'll like notice the low prices. While that was nice to see you do get what you pay for. For 13 dollars and change I got the VIB breakfast where you pick four items from a few different categories. I chose scrambled eggs, turkey sausage, bacon and half a waffle. The portions were small and most of the food likely only needed to be reheated to be served. We are glad we gave Village Inn a try but will likely opt for a different place next time.
