This was our first visit to this restaurant. We were seated right away. Server Joseph C was very attentive and fulfilled all our needs. Place bumped us down the list for people who came in later than us!!! They say it doesn't happen but it did!! One minute their queue says we had 2 parties ahead and then it became 4 before us!!! I mean really? ??? Waited more than half an hour to be seated so we can eat and these people just bumps us on the list!!!!i thought the review was exaggerated but no!!! Food was ok and Manager was insanely amazing and a surprise. They seriously need to improve on how their front desk handle customer. You know.. I like a good breakfast. I am not someone who has a bunch of money but still I enjoy a good breakfast. I personally think breakfast should be under $10 for a good amount. This place is nice. Don't get me wrong. The reason I'm giving it to stars is because I got a basic Belgian waffle and two eggs with two sausage links and my total came out to $15.00 I know some of you might think that I could've looked at the menu before going in which I did, but I was hoping that I wouldn't have been as hungry as I was. And I thought maybe the portions would've been a bit bigger. The portions were very normal. They were nothing worth the amount that I paid for them. Maybe because it's in Lake Mary the people that own this place think that they can charge you $15 for a waffle and two eggs with a side of sausage. As for me I don't think that this place was any better than Denny's. Even with Denny's I could've gotten way more food for half this price. The atmosphere is nice and I waitress was very nice. But I came here to eat and I was very disappointed with the quality and the amount of the food. My food came out looking very plain. Maybe they thought they did something by sprinkling some powdered sugar on my waffle but that was about as jazzed up as the food looked. (I also did not mention above that the person that I was dining with ordered a featured breakfast which came with eggs, home fries, a biscuit, and sausage and hers came out all together to $16 as well. The person at the table next to us I guess ordered the chicken and waffles which was nothing more than two basic chicken tenders on top of a waffle. Very very very very very underwhelming). If you are looking for a breakfast place comparable to this just stick with Denny's or IHOP or your local mom and pop eatery. There really is nothing here that you can't get there for a lot cheaper. That is if you are on a budget like I am. I feel like this place is not for the people that are on a budget but is for the people that can afford to spend $35 on a picture of bloody Mary that only gives you maybe five drinks. Personally, I don't plan on coming back here because it's just way too expensive for what I'm actually getting. There is no reason to be paying that sort of money here when there are so many other good café style restrictions around this area with bigger portions and more bang for your buck. Pancakes have a nice flavor and texture, not simply a fluffy doughy container for syrup. Sausage is amazing, not overly greasy, seasoned very well. Eggs are ordinary, nothing special here. Coffee has a good flavor, just touching strong but not bitter. Service was good, though with only 4 others in the place the morning I went I expected a bit quicker. Rated average for decent food at premium prices. No complaints but I will think long and hard before going back as I expect just a bit more "wow" when paying the prices asked here. read more

We've heard a lot about this place from our friends and decided to try it out, we chose to do take out and ordered a few things for all of us to try out. We begin with the Beignets, although these are not traditional Beignets but rather biscuit Beignets which were superb as they were served with a marmalade dipping sauce. We ordered the regular Eggs Benedict which was large enough for two so we share, they included fried potatoes which were well prepared. We got the Fried Green Tomatoes with the Remoulade sauce, which was an excellent choice along side the Eggs. We also ordered the Biscuit w/Sausage Gravy, the taste was very good but overall it was disappointing as it was way too salty. Had anyone ordered just that for breakfast, they wouldn't have been able to eat the dish. We'll all definitely be heading back there soon, just to order the Beignets. read more

For the amount of money...the food should be way better. The waitress was very kind but I asked for no onions in my scramble and they put onions in. My dad had peach hot cakes which had like a small sprinkling of granola right in the center of the pancakes and about 6 small pieces of peaches on top. It was sad for the amount of money. While running errands in WP Village I saw ABEC and thought it sounded like a neat place for the hubs and I to try; however, there is no quick way for me to get to WP so I kept putting it off. But this past weekend I wanted to take the hubs out for a birthday breakfast and decided this would be the time. Imagine my surprise when I entered the name into my phone and a location in Lake Mary came up! Perfect! Our 30 minute drive had now become 17! The restaurant itself is a bit hard to find. It's in a commerce center, mostly by itself. As you're passing business buildings and your navigation system is saying it's "on your right" you really begin to question yourself, but then you find it, tucked back off the road behind a large fitness center & barbershop. We found a space and then headed over. I noticed that there were a few groups outside so I knew we'd have to sign in. I asked the hubs to wait outside while I went in, gave the hostess my name, and told her I had a party of two, she took my cell number and said it they were saying a 30 minute wait but it would probably be more like 25. Almost immediately I got a message on my phone saying that I was checked in and that I could follow up on my place in line on NoWait. This is where things started to go downhill. First, I have a 4G phone, and very seldom, if ever, have issues. As I went to check our status the system automatically sends you to a link that requires you to download an app. My 4G phone was getting 2G and that was sporadic at best. I then searched for a WiFi (who doesn't have free WiFi anymore right?) and ABEC has theirs locked down. I tried to download the app anyway but the connection was so spotty that it wasn't possible. People continued to arrive and check in and we looked around. They have a really nice patio area off to the side where you can wait to be seated and dine and apparently they will allow small dogs on there. More people continued to check in and we continued to wait. It began to rain. We still waited. I glanced down at my phone and saw that our check in time was 9:43 a.m. and it was 10:12. Okay, 29 minutes, we should be seated soon. And we continued to wait. People kept coming out of the restaurant and I could see open tables from outside but nothing. During this time 2 men came from the patio area and stood right next to us and started smoking. They commented on how you couldn't smoke inside on the patio but that this was not listed as a no smoking area and it was a good thing it wasn't California as you can't smoke at restaurants at all. The hubs and I ended up moving from our spot to get out of their cloud of funk. Finally, the family that arrived right before us was called in, and we continued to wait. At this point we had waited 43 minutes, it was raining harder, I couldn't check the status of our place in line, and the smoke was carrying. It kind of put a damper on the hubs birthday breakfast and Denny's was looking better with each passing minute. After almost an hour wait (57minutes) I received the text that our table was ready. When we entered the restaurant they took us to a table in the back that had 6 empty tables (seating anywhere from 2-6) waiting there. Our waitress came over and apologized for the wait and took our drink order, 1 Black Coffee and 1 with a shot of Godiva. She then came back to take our order; the Southwest Scramble with potatoes andStans' Mardi Gras Omelette with city grits. This is when the waitress (who was very nice) mentioned that food is made to order and that the kitchen was a bit short staffed so it may take the orders a bit to come out. Ours came out rather quickly (11 minutes, she counted herself). As for the food, it was either great or ordinary. The potatoes were hard and not soft in the center. The guacamole is fresh made and chunky. The Mardi Gras omelette was spectacular! Fluffy egg filled with crawfish, shrimp and andouille. The coffee was okay. I've had better at Wawa. At $2.59 a cup (or thereabouts) I expected WOW in my coffee. The real star of the show; however, is the city grits. Creamy, cheesy, topped with bacon and green onions and perfectly seasoned (although I did add some hotsauce). The waitress came by several times to check on us and offer refills on the coffee. The tables around us never filled up, and more people just kept checking in. We paid the check and left. I know its a newish location so I would like to try the WP one; however, I won't be visiting the ABEC in Lake Mary for quite a while. Pros -different menu items, not just pancakes and eggs but several benedicts and seafood items Cons -poor connectivity and no available WiFi -extensive wait times -need designated smoking area so that people do not smoke in front of the main entrance -need to work on consistency with food quality. Good items were GREAT others just "meh" -prices are a bit high. Similar items at FirstWatch would be about $25 vs $31 read more

Hands down the best service I've ever had at a restaurant, Mohammed was extremely attentive and wonderfully polite. Everything was delicious. The Hey Lucy omelette was great as were the City Grits. This restaurant should be called The ROTTEN Egg just because of the TERRIBLE service. The food is good, though pricey ($10 for biscuits and gravy) and the atmosphere is pleasant, but the service is horrible. My wife and I visited the place early one Saturday morning, with five others, based on the recommendation of a friend. We had to ask our server, Shawntel, for condiments repeatedly, and she got so flustered during the process of taking seven orders at our table that that she made an error on one of them, but the trouble really started when we received our checks. Between the seven of us there were four separate checks, and the server gave the checks to the wrong parties. We called this to her attention, and she corrected that problem, but when she returned to the table with our debit cards she again gave them to the wrong parties (I had someone else's debit card in my hand, and someone else had mine). On further examination we discovered that she had charged the cards for the wrong checks! When we brought THAT to her attention she scooped up all of the checks and cards and was gone a long time. (We found out why later). After she returned we asked to see a manager, and all of the employees who were within earshot ducked their heads and fled. When we were finally able to get a manager to come to our table, she didn't address our complaints, trying instead to shift the responsibility onto us by saying "I'm sorry you feel that way." When we got home I took a look at our bank account (for the debit card we used to pay our check) and found that at some time during the process she had charged us for all of the tickets at the table! If you do decide to dine here be sure to examine your check closely and PAY IN CASH - do not hand them your debit or credit card! read more

Got there just after 1. Hostess didn't seem pleased that we wanted the empty booth instead of a table. They close at 2 so the decaf was cold and I imagine they weren't going to be making more. But cold means old. The beignet biscuits were pretty good. My husband liked his chicken and waffles. I got the crab benedict with sauce that wasn't hot and despite the reviews, it was just wrong. Both of us were amazed at how fishy and gross it was. I don't understand how it got good reviews. I've had lump crab in a Benedict that was good but this...was not. The potato fries were good so I just tried to munch on those. The decor and ambiance was cute and they have a parking lot so that's a plus. This was my first time and I was very satisfied. I had the French toast with banana foster toppings and I made it a combo with a side of cheese grits. The grits were delicious; I eat out all the time for breakfast and I swear these are the best I've had. They're not too runny and they're seasoned well. They eggs were scrambled but not over cooked and the bacon had a good crunch, not too hard and not floppy. The French toast was average. My dad and I eat here 2-3 times per week. The staff is excellent and are quick to get to know you. There are a couple things that stand out beyond the kind staff. 1.) The bacon is the best in town. 2.) They have a couple of different types of coffee and the darker roast is pretty excellent. 3.)
