My fiancé and I went to ABEC for brunch while visiting Siesta Key. I was fairly disappointed. I ordered their fried chicken sandwich. There was a good portion of the chicken that was just breading. Not to mention the avocado that came on the sandwich was black. Not bruised. Not starting to turn brown in some spots which is still edible... but black mushed avocado. I scraped it off and made the best of what was left of the sandwich. The flavor was good but I just wish it was prepared better and/or that the kitchen staff/cooks gave a shit about what they're serving to the public. Our mimosas were good and the bartender working was super nice. Their bathrooms were not clean and smelled bad. Maybe we got there after a busy morning rush. Maybe they're short staffed or not paid enough to deal with the general public. Either way... wasn't that great of an experience. read more

Amazing brunch place! Everything here is well priced and so delicious! I got the corned beef hash which was the most amazing corned beef I have ever had at a brunch place. My friend got the biscuits and gravy which was so rich and flavorful. We went around 10:30am on a Sunday and waited around 30 mins for a table but it is well worth the wait. First time trying this place and the food was fantastic. I had the Bacquezo Omelette and it was incredible. I highly recommend ordering it.

Food was absolutely incredible and by far the best breakfast we had in the area! There was a little bit of a wait but once seated our waitress was so nice and service was quick! A great brunch spot on the island! We had friendly and attentive service, and the food was delicious. The portions were large - especially the pancakes! I had a southwest-style omelette with filled with chorizo and veggies, avocado on top, and potatoes on the side. It was super tasty, and a fair price for the quantity of food. What a great place! My Bloody Mary was spot on and well adorned (and I am a tough critic). Our dishes, shrimp and grits and biscuits and gravy with eggs, were delicious. OuOur server took our order and exercised great patience as we mulled over with many questions and requests. Do not order the Shrimp and grits if your not prepared for a spicy dish at brunch or for breakfast. The location of this place is fabulous, however, your parking is going to be a challenge if you're visiting and most folks are. The food choices are good with healthy alternatives. We got a great server (his name is Lloyd) and he was absolute great throughout the entire service. I'd eaten at the Jacksonville location and knew the food was great so I wasn't surprised to truly enjoy my salmon eggs Benedict with house fries and mimosa. Happily stumbled upon Another Broken Egg Cafe a few years ago while vacationing in the area and now I always make it a point to get back there when I visit. I've never had any trouble getting a table (even when there appears to be a "breakfast rush" for other nearby restaurants) and the service and food are always good. On my last visit, I ordered the chicken and waffles which were great. I sat at the bar (I was alone) and got to talking to the gal next to me, who mentioned that she had never been there before - our server then brought out a plate of beignets on the house to welcome her to the restaurant and I got to share! We eat here every time we come to siesta key. We ate two morning in a row! The reason we did was because of the wonderful gluten free menu!! Unfortunately, the reason why I am not giving 5 stars is because they didn't take my allergy seriously enough. First morning, ordered off the Gfree menu, server brought my plate and I could immediately tell I was being served a regular lemon/goat cheese pancake and not a Gfree. I also ordered the crab omelet and it came out with an English muffin and not Gfree bread. Second morning, different server, I made sure to tell him I am gluten free and once again my plate came out with a muffin and no Gfree bread. Please please train your staff to care more about celiacs. Especially because you have that wonderful gluten free selection!Someone could get very sick! I've been here years ago back during SPRING BREAK 09! But this was my first time with my new wife. The service was friendly and food came out pretty quick. I had the Bacoqueso Omlette it had cream cheese and chorizo bacon and scallions in it served with country potatoes and it was all so good. My wife had French Toast that was served with scrambled eggs and sausage. She said it tasted good. You definitely need to stop in for breakfast if you are on Siesta Key. Fantastic breakfast spot in Siesta Key! The hostess was extremely polite when we arrived, our waiter was constantly coming over and checking on us. The menu was so extensive with so many different items. My wife and I had a hard time choosing what to get. I settled on the Mardi Gras omelette which I must admit was one of the best omelettes I have ever had. The omelette was filled with Louisiana crawfish, gulf shrimp, andouille and red peppers, topped with tomato hollandaise, tomatoes and green onions. My wife had the Skinny omelette this was a Goat-cheese filled egg white omelette with asparagus, roasted red peppers and roasted garlic cloves. Topped with fresh herbs and green onions. My wife changed the cheese from goat-cheese to Brie and we ordered a Belgian waffle which was cooked to perfection. I requested that my Mardi Gras please be well cooked because that is the only way I like them and it was done perfectly as well. This place is a must stop. I wish we had a place like this in Central Virginia. We will be coming back here again before we head back home. read more
