I popped into this location of the PNW Anthony's empire for a quick lunch with some colleagues. Apparently, there is a whole slew of Anthony's restaurants across SEA and other PNW locales, and the Bell Street Diner is one of their "casual" eateries, in the same building as Anthony's Pier 66 and Anthony's Fish Bar. Set facing the Seattle Waterfront, the Bell Street Diner (actually on Alaskan Way) has a lot of family-friendly options and is just an average spot for a quick lunch or some drinks, but it didn't feel as "special" as other more upscale Anthony's locations. We sat at the bar for our lunch, so we were able to enjoy nice waterfront views as well as attentive bar service. They weren't too busy on this particular weekday at lunch, but they do accept reservations. You'll find all kinds of seafood on their lunch menu, from shellfish to fish, prepared in many ways, from nachos to salads to tacos to soups and chowders to pasta. There's a little something for everyone, but be advised if you absolutely won't eat anything from the water, that your only options are a Kobe beef burger or a sesame chicken salad. There aren't any vegan options here, unless you opt for one of their salads sans fish/chicken. Now that we're past that, I gravitated towards the chargrilled mahi mahi taco and chowder. Unfortunately, they had only flour tortillas, not the corn tortillas that I prefer for tacos, but the fish was tender and not too salty. It was served with tomatoes and cilantro, and no cheese or cream sauce, which I appreciated. The chowder was rich, warm, and satisfying - it's touted as "award-winning" and is Manhattan-style, so it's not cream-based. There are many options here in the "stuff that swims" department, so it could be a solid local chain to return to for casual seafood dining, but the prices seemed more along the lines of the "fancier" Anthony's location, whether you're here for lunch or dinner, so don't expect "diner"-style prices or portions. read more

Service was a little slow, the prices on the bill were a dollar more each item than the menu reflected. They corrected it but be sure to double check your bill! Outside seating was nice with big umbrellas at each table. Decent beer and wine list several local ones to choose from. Food was ok. I had the clams, and my husband had the burger. They should have a smaller portion cheaper lunch menu. Dogs are allowed as long as they are on the other side of the rope. They take reservations but cannot guarantee a seat on the deck. read more

I ordered the Mahi Taco. The taco is okay. Chips are great though. Venue- indoor has limited seating, but outdoors have many more tables. Service- food was served pretty fast. Waitress delivered food to my table but first confused others order with mine. She was still nice and apologized for it. Price- not very expensive but the portion is small. I normally am happy about the portion I get in lots of restaurant but BUT this one, I am not even filling!! I wouldn't really be willing to come back unless it's super necessary or I absolutely need a lunch break. But it's a convenient lunch stop location for tourists and all. 3 star for it's view! What a treat! We ate at Anthony's Bell Street Diner, and it was exactly what we needed after a long day of travel from the East Coast and some afternoon sight seeing. My husband ordered the clam chowder and fish and chips, and both were delicious. I am not a seafood person which can be a challenge, but I ordered an Asian chicken bowl that was perhaps one of the greatest meals I've had! Our service was exceptional, and we were seated outside right along the water. It could not have been better! We made our way up the waterfront toward the aquarium for a nice after dinner stroll. On a gorgeous Seattle afternoon, all I can think of is "I want a fish taco on the waterfront..." and I immediately think of Anthony's fish bar. They have great seating on the waterfront, both indoor and out. I placed my order, with a special request and the gentleman behind the counter was more than happy to grant my request. I was pleasantly surprised to find that same accommodating gentleman brought the food to my table. The fish taco was fresh, and flavorful. Came here with my mother in law after a trip to the aquarium. It was around 3 so very quiet in there but service wasn't super snappy. However, my cocktail and crab toast were both really tasty. The cocktail was called the pearisian (or something along those lines) and I highly recommend. Crab toast was rich with a nice salad. Interior is nice and upscale, modern décor in the bathroom and bar area. We were seated around the corner across from the round table for large groups, apart from most other customers and with a good view of the water. Ordered a large bowl of the clam chowder and a side of asparagus. My guy got the cioppino special with a side Caesar, and also asparagus. Our friend accompanying us got the exact same thing. All of us dove face first into our food- it was all surprisingly good. Located in a place that probably gets a lot of tourist business, this place still delivers with fresh taste. The cioppino was a good sized portion and had good flavor, we were brought sriarcha to add to spice it up. The caesar salad was fresh, crunch, and not overdressed. My clam chowder was filling and had ample pieces of meaty clam, and a good overall flavor that wasn't bland or flat as at other places here in town. The asparagus though was the surprise star- at $1.50/side, it's a good 12 or so spears to an order and well-priced considering what other places charge. I always come here everytime I'm in Seattle. Always. The best fish n chips I've ever had is a hole-in-the-wall joint in Long Beach, CA so it's a bit unfair, I suppose, to compare every place to that particular place but.... oh well. This place is awesome and although it's not the best in the world, it is very delicious! Everytime I come here the fish and chips have been consistently good! I always get the same thing too, True Alaskan Cod. It's always cooked to perfection, the tartar sauce is always on point, and the fries were actually even better than the last time I came here! I honestly am never disappointed when I come here. Everytime I've came here its been the exact same 2 people that I always see: the cook and the cashier lady. The lady is always nice to me and hubby everytime we've came. Always took our order in a well mannered way, always asked if we want something to drink with our order, and then sometimes asked if we wanted to try their cookie, and their cookies are so delicious! We have never talked to the cook, but he's typically in the back anyway. We never really noticed him ever come up to the front counter area. I understand that there are mixed reviews on this place but all I would say is to just try it out for yourself at least once. If you hate it, don't ever go there again; but if you love it, then you will have a reliable place to go to on the waterfront whenever you're in the area! read more

We just dined here tonight. The service was excellent throughout the meal. Mark our server was very professional and friendly. For starters we had the white chowder soup which tasted very good but served only lukewarm. I prefer soup served hot! The Caesar salad was good. We ordered the swordfish which wasn't tasty at all. Not very good. The large prawns and cornbread pudding were served lukewarm and did not taste good at all unfortunately. For Desserts we had the cheesecake and berry cobbler with vanilla ice cream and they were served in beautiful red festive glass plates. Beautiful presentation. They were delicious !!!! Anthony's Fish Bar is the takeout version of Anthony's. Having visited the Sea-Tac Airport location, I was glad to see a location nearby where I am working in Belltown. It is right on the Waterfront near the Port of Seattle Cruise Terminal on Alaskan Way. The menu is simple and quick. Prices are decent. It consists of numerous seafood items which include fish (Alaskan true cod) and chips, mahi mahi tacos and shrimp salad. It was also interesting to see a ling cod plate lunch offering on the menu. I ended up getting the fish and chips ($7.95). The cod tasted like "bat-ter." Seriously. The cod is breaded with panko which creates a liquid eggy taste to it which I prefer over Ivar's version, which is also good by the way. I was staying at the Marriott Seattle Waterfront and was in the mood for Seafood and didn't want to go far since it was cold and rainy. This place was almost empty at 6 PM so I was a little nervous. Two words "Happy Hour"!! We walked past the sign a few times during our trip and finally decided to fill up here before hitting the road back to Vancouver. 4-7pm they offer drink and appy specials in the bar area, be sure to let them know why you're there as the restaurant side offers the full menu without specials allowed. For less than $40 we got two pints of beer, 5 appies including tax and tip, and walked out happy and filled with a tasty dinner to keep us going. The cook finally spoke up and asked what we would like. I asked if I could order from him and he said he could get my food started but not take my order. Keep in mind the woman that was supposed to take our order was 10 feet away replenishing napkins and to go items. Then we waited patiently while the cook again helped someone behind us with some cookies. He asked the woman working to ring them up and she said hold on and continued stocking napkins? Now 2 people in line ready to go, but she cared more about napkins and straws. You could tell the cook seemed frustrated to.After a few minutes (it was strange and uncomfortable we kinda just looked at each other wondering what was going on) she reluctantly rang the cookie people up and then us. We ordered 2 drinks, but she never gave us cups. And wandered into the back before I got a chance to ask for our drink cups. Once they announced our food was ready I asked for our drink cups and the woman behind the counter said "water cups?" I reminded her we paid for 2 drinks. She scrutinized our receipt before handing them over. Now the food. I watched the cook pull the clams and the fries from the freezer, no big deal I didn't have high hopes after witnessing the service. But never saw my fish or shrimp go into the fryer. I did however notice fish and shrimp sitting pre cooked in a steam table pan. I suspect that is what I got. The shrimp was overly greasy and the batter had turned mushy where I assume it had been sitting in a pan. The fish was the same, soggy and overly greasy. We only ate the fries then decided to go somewhere else for lunch. I don't normally complain at a restaurant, but was tempted to here. It was a Saturday night and they seated the five of us quite quickly. We got seated outside. The seating was a bit tight, but overall the atmosphere wasn't too bad and the view out the water front was great. We ordered a couple of drinks from the bar to begin with, and they brought them to our table. They have a good selection of local beer on tap, but being a bigger fan of cocktails, I ordered one of their berry creations because berries are in season. My drink didn't really have too much alcohol in it, nor did it have too much berry-ness, so I was quite disappointed because, as I said, the berries are in season. We ordered the salmon poke and coconut shrimp for appetizers. I only had the salmon poke, but it was very asian style, and I quite like the sweet soy-ish sesame-ish sauce they have for it. However, the salmon was not consistent -- quality was good, for sure, but some was over cooked while the other was just seared. I ordered the chargrilled salmon to be my main meal. It came with mashed potatoes and green beans, both of which were average (the mashed potatoes were better though). The fish itself was not very flavourful, and was slightly overcooked. It wasn't that great. I tasted the halibut someone else got and found it to be a bit better. The others seem to enjoy their fried seafood items. Overall it wasn't that satisfying of a meal, especially when I specially ordered things that are in season, and should be good in Seattle. Quite a disappointment. read more

Crab cakes were greasy and just okay. Was expecting better from a place like this. When you're used to Maryland crab cakes that are very juicy and plump, this was a major disappointment, especially with such succulent crab meat. The ginger salad was good as the side and the fresh bread was also good. My friend had the fish tacos (not the salmon) and said they were just okay as well. Service was I guess okay. Our waiter was very disinterested in being at work. A waitress just next to us, well lets say we wish we would have had her. It's a classy place on the water where you can relax in a booth, look out at the boats on the harbor, have a nice walk along the water before or after the meal. This place was close to our hotel and within walking distance. The place has a cafe on the outside and on the other side of the building is the restaurant. The cafe offers some of the same items, however at a cheaper price. The restaurant is more pricy and still has the same view as the cafe and some of the same food options. I honestly didn't want to dine in because of the high rise in prices, but it was freezing outside!!! The servers where excellent, fast and knowledgeable about the dishes. Came here after our cruise ship dropped us off. Had the poke bowl which was alright. But why this place gets 2 stars is the service is horrible. There were 2 cashiers. The one (female) was showing extra attention to the large group in front of us while the other cashier (male) was doing busy work behind the counter even though the line was 10 people deep. After the manager got their attention to hurry it along. The female cashier was just rude. Not even saying hello. Not even stating the name of the establishment. No smiles. No acknowledgement. Took forever to get our food. The entire time I was watching them work. 4 total people. The cook, the manager, and the 2 cashiers who also cleaned tables and threw stuff away. Only person resembling any sort of professionalism or effectiveness was the manager. The lady was just thru and thru rude even when calling our number up. The guy cashier seemed overwhelmed . And the girl just didn't care. Food was alright. Never had a poke bowl that had all their ingredients separated like that before. Kinda strange. Only had 1 kind of fish (ahi tuna) on it. Flavoring was bland. Glad I tried it so I can say I tried it. Will never be back with so many other competing restaurants around. And what the back is this 4% surcharge. Here for a business trip. A local told us not to go to pipe place to eat bc they are expensive so we tried it here. The drinks are at a good price for how much alcohol they put in them. Had the poke bowl and scuttlebutt at happy hour and the fish and chips and cheesecake. Bartender was hilarious and fun and friendly and FAST, everything you want your bartender to be. The rest of the staff I interacted with were so nice and helpful too. And the food is SO GOOD. The poke bowl was amazing. I may return before I leave just for one more bowl. The fish n chips was one of the best I've ever had. Not too heavy, wonderful flavor, good coleslaw, just so so so so so good. The cheesecake - actually the best I've ever had. No joke. I came here to try Anthony's 66 but I ended eating at the main floor which was Anthony's Bell Street Diner because the host didn't bother to ask which restaurant you came in for. As a first timer there, how was I suppose to know that Anthony's 66 was located on the 2nd floor if you don't tell me. And the sign that stated where Anthony's 66 was and what the main floor diner was, was flipped around by the stairway, so you won't see the sign unless you walked out of the bathroom from behind yet the front of the sign said completely something else. The two restaurants are owned by one owner but they serve different items and upstairs Anthony's 66 was bit higher class. Our server said its not a big difference and he's able to get me a Dungeness Crab and almost anything from upstairs that I wanted, but its cooked from their kitchen instead of upstairs. We ordered a crab, half dozen oysters, and couple appetizers. The food was ok, I've had better. The service wasn't great, they weren't on top of clearing plates since our table was kind of small for all the giant plates they brought up. Overall I'm still upset that the host didn't ask me if I wanted upstairs or downstairs dining since they are different. Some friends were visiting from out of town so we decided to tour the city. After stopping at the space needle, we knew we wanted to circle back to the market by way of the water front walk. We got a little hungry and stopped by Anthony's for a quick bite to eat. We each opted for a fish based taco. My favorite was the Mahi Mahi taco which was beautifully complimented by sauces and cabbage. Although the tacos were delicious, the price was quite steep considering each meal only included a single taco. I surely would have preferred a second taco rather than chips. This place used to have the best happy hour in the city but that has all changed in the last year. The prices have gone up, the portions have been cut in half and the service is TERRIBLE. We almost always get our food before the waiter/bartender can bring us our drinks. Returned to Anthony's Bell Street on our most recent trip to Seattle. This was probably a 2.5 star experience but dipped to two because of a first that occurred. In all our years dining together, C has never said she flat didn't like something -- until last night with the Rockfish Tacos. For everyone else in the group it seemed things were average. I've been to Anthony's Bell Street Diner a few times, always during the summer and there's always a cruise ship blocking the view. The food's ok but considering it has diner it in its name you'd think the prices might be a little more diner-ish than what they are. The last time I was here was this past weekend, we are seated and we waited and waited and waited and waited and had to ask someone who our server was. I think waiting over 15 minutes without so much as a 'hi, I'll be your server and I'll be right with you after I deliver these drinks' is pretty bad. We finally get a waitress who doesn't care to be there and we order two salads for three of us to share. The Hawaiian Cobb and the seafood chop chop. Logic would make one think that since we are sharing the salads we'd like three dinner plates to eat off of, oh no she expected us to use bread plates to eat our salads off us. Than we asked for bigger plates and she brought just one back so we asked for two more. I wonder about peoples smarts sometimes.
