This place deserves 1000000000 stars!!! We were on our way to Carlsbad and kids were super hungry. I quickly searched on Yelp and found this place. We all have those doubts when trying a new place... so that what we felt. When we arrived the place was full but we were quickly seated after few minutes! While waiting I read reviews and saw pictures of the food... made me soo hungry! As soon as we tried the food, omg they were soo good! Today we went to Antoine's Cafe for a late Saturday breakfast in San Clemente . My husband had biscuits with gravy, saugage and eggs. The gravy was lumpy and my husband said it was like wallpaper paste. He was very disappointed. He asked the waitress if there was new owners and she said no. She said she'd tell manager about wallpaper paste gravy. I watched as she walked over to him and saw him grinning as she told him. He never came over to talk to us. Very poor business. Due to his attitude we will not be back. Too many other places to choose from! read more

I love Antoines Cafe! I have been visiting for over 20 years. I joined the Marine Corps, and my duty stations took me away from my beloved Antoine's Cafe, but anytime I came home, or was stationed here, this was a regular place to eat. When I delivered both of my children in Maryland over 10 years ago, my sister traveled with frozen their Caesar salad dressing, frozen and carefully packed in her suitcase. We recently moved back to the area and this was one of my first places I visited. I even asked for the "old school" baguette and Caesar dressing to dip. 10/10 recommend. read more

I've been coming here for over a decade and nothing has changed about the friendly staff and amazing food. Highly recommend this place, especially if you are into crepes. Won't disappoint. Avocado and tomatoes were so fresh, I almost didn't want the bagel...but it was so delicious that I had to indulge. The California Benedict was PERFECTION with fluffy poached eggs and smooth rich hollandaise. Service and cleanliness were impeccable. But don't come. Really. When in the area we have been going to Cafe Mimosa for the best coffee and excellent breakfast in town. This year we discovered their partner Cafe, Antoine's Cafe the wife enjoyed the Florentine Benedict eggs and hashbrowns and I had the chicken fried steak (lightly battered perfectly seasoned and cooked wonder gravy) and eggs (cooked to order) with hashbrowns (great tasting and crispy) The food coupled with the atmosphere of 60s & 70s music surfing shack a perfect way to start the day. It was a brunch during our small road trip from San Diego to North county for a night party at friend's house. We enjoyed the Breakfast tacos (3) , a perfect balance of freshly prepared ingredients: eggs, avocado, cilantro, cheese, sausage. I enjoyed a fabulous and beautiful latte! Chicken Fried Steak is my all time favorite breakfast item. I usually order it every time I go to a new breakfast spot and with that said Antoine's Cafe had one of the best version I've tasted. The first thing you'll notice is their white gravy. Something about it is special. Not too sure how to explain it other than it's not the run of the mill store bought gravy. The next thing you'll notice is the fresh green onion on the crispy hash browns. This was the best hash browns I have ever tasted. I don't know if this is the norm but the hash browns were perfectly crispy on the outside and soft, tender in the inside. If you're a fan of chicken friend steak this is place is definitely a great spot. No wonder why it was voted as best breakfast, lunch and dinner in San Clemente. read more

Not a mask in sight. It's unfortunate that a restaurant would be judged on whether or not their staff is wearing masks but those are the times we are in. Not one staff member had on a mask - not when speaking to patrons, taking orders or delivering food. 2 stars because the food wasn't bad although the lack of covid precautions left a bad taste in my mouth. Quaint little brunch spot on El Camino Real in San Clemente. There was a crowd as we approached the restaurant so we knew this place is legit. Fabulous friendly service. Delicious, fresh food. Reasonable prices. Some favorites we tried on this first time visit were the veggie breakfast tacos with extra homemade pico de Gallo (YUM!); grilled flat iron steak and eggs; brioche French toast and classic eggs Benedict. All wonderful. Before our food arrived I heard the guy behind me order French onion soup and a croque-monsieur, DOH! That's when I realized I didn't even look past the breakfast selections on the menu. Oh well, I can remedy my order envy with a plan to return very soon. This is one of the best breakfast experiences I've ever had. Every single person from the host to the woman I assume was the owner was so ridiculously accommodating and helpful. Each time I needed assistance, they basically anticipated it and were so quick to help. Now, the food. We ordered the California Benedict and the Banana Walnut Pancakes. This is happy food at its finest. Basically what I'm saying is, if you don't leave with a big smile on your face, I'd be outrageously surprised. Thank you to everyone at Antoine's! Rarely do I leave a bad review but there are a couple things here: 1. NO MASKS. We called in three orders and when we arrived to pick it up, there was only one person in the whole restaurant wearing a mask and that was a front of house worker. No servers, and we could not see in to the kitchen to know whether or not they were also not wearing masks. 2. We asked if they could do cocktail drinks to go, to which they said yes and I was very stoked to have a Bloody Mary at the beach. They put it in a plastic cup with ice and straw but where were the accoutrements??? The picture showed the Bacon Bloody Mary with bacon and an array of other snacks typical of a BM were no where to be found among the take out goods. And was there even any vodka in it? I paid $8 for glorified V8 juice. So disappointing. The sandwiches were pretty good, but crossing ourselves that we did not contract COVID. read more

I used to always come here for my birthday, and for both of my parents birthdays - they used to send out a free crepe for your birthday, not sure if they do that anymore. I hadnt been here in a long time, but decided to try it out when it popped up on Yelp after a morning walk down in San Clemente. Both recent times I have eaten here I have had the Breakfast Tacos... they are literally the best breakfast tacos I have had anywhere. Seriously. I have also had the decaf coffee both times, as I am super sensitive to caffeine, even if it is early in the morning. Amazing decaf coffee. Weird, I know. Service is great, and friendly. The eggs benedict and omelettes come with good recommendations as well. It does get very crowded early on the weekends, but its worth waiting! There is a parking lot behind the restaurant as street parking is almost impossible. read more

Some friends took me here and I'm sure glad they did! Wasn't really hungry for breakfast so I went with the Antoine's Salad which was absolutely phenomenal. Huge portion- and I'm not talking just the basic leaves, I mean huge portions of beautiful avocados, onions, and well-seasoned chicken. I was astonished when they brought out the salad because I truly did not expect it to contain such large portions for the price I paid.
