I dined here four times while visiting NYC. The manager. Mike, was extremely gracious and seated us promptly. On each occasion we were greeted by our server very promptly. I ordered waffles, eggs and omelettes during my dines here. The food came out hot and well prepared. There is both table and counter seating and also outdoor dining. We dined outdoors on one occasion and it was very comfortable and not particularly noisy even though it's on the corner of Broadway and 55th St. In reviewing "diners" I tend to be very critical when it comes to bad service and short order food. This restaurant is on top of my list of places to go. Solid 4 star 24/7 diner in midtown. Menu is massive and runs the gamut of cuisine, from Greek to Mexican to Italian to American diner fare. Everything is here. The staff is efficient and friendly. It's pricey but this is midtown NYC. They do make a damn fine grilled cheese - get it with bacon and tomatoes. Their Gyro platter is huge and tasty. Enjoy! read more

Stopped by for quick bite at early morning. I got hungry again around 5:00am and I was looking for delivery app(Uber eat, seamless, post mates) but there was nothing to can order. I was going to eat Macdonald near my hotel but there was closed but google said they open 24/7. I couldn't have a choice to go around that time cuz I only wanted eat near my hotel. Thank god for this place's open. They're very welcome me and it felt like safe even if late time. I went to my friend and we seated immediately cuz there's only few people were eating. I ordered spaghetti with meatballs set. You can choice soup or salad and egg sandwich. Spaghetti with meatballs was so so and I never expected great spaghetti at diner. Chicken noodle soup was really too salty to my licking and I had a put some water. Also they give you breads but it really great breads. So much delicious and I would say it was best in any of diner I ever had. Cheap price and little dirty on the floor but who cares with all of tiredness. Table was clean so I didn't care floor was dirty. If I get to chance for eat somewhere at late night or early morning than I wanted give a try this place again. read more

Amazing ! We got in before the brunch rush and was seated within 7min.. the staff are all friendly. The greeter (could have been the manager) kept an open line of communication in regards to who was next in line and how long the wait would be. Your standard NYC diner. We ate here twice - once for breakfast and once for lunch. They offer dinner, but it doesn't strike me as the kind of place that I would go to for dinner in the city. It always seems to be crowded and there can be a bit of wait. But, they are efficient in turning their tables and the service was very good. Breakfasts were standard fare - eggs, toast, potatoes, sausage, etc. Between us, we had a salad and a sandwich for lunch. All very good. Absolutely the WORST meal we had in NYC! So upset at myself for not checking Yelp first. Only came here because 2 friends said they had a good breakfast experience. Maybe it was true but there were still way better options for dinner. First, ain't no AC in this mess! And the ceiling fans did jack squat to cool us off. The place looked old and tired, didn't bother me but the lack of ventilation definitely did! The menu was expansive but nothing looked appealing the first and second look through. I eventually decided on a Chicken Florentine (grilled chicken, stuffed with feta and spinach on a bed of noodles) it also came with a "side salad" and bread. I also ordered a margarita. The results: I knew I wasn't in Texas anymore and I adjusted my mindset accordingly. I knew drinks were smaller for double the price in NYC but when the server brought me this $10 marg in a small glass filled with ice, I almost laughed and promptly sent it back. I'll keep my $10 and buy two huge margs in Dallas when I get home. The salad was chopped lettuce and tomatoes (so NOT A SALAD), didn't eat that. The bread came in a warm bowl but was oddly hard and cold, not worth the added carbs. The spaghetti didn't even taste salted or buttered or like anything really. Passed on that too. The most dissatisfying part was the GRILLED chicken was dry and somehow crunchy. Best part of the food was the feta and spinach. Prices were pretty good, especially considering location, but there were things that seemed randomly very overpriced. Years ago, I ate at this diner, which used to be called Big Apple Diner. Recently a friend and I decided to have breakfast there, as we were looking for something different near our gym. I definitely had reservations about this diner. It's primarily tourists eating there and for good reason - it's really the only diner on Broadway in that area of hotels with what seems like moderate prices. Now, shouldn't that tell you something? Well, even though I knew better, we decided to chance it. As it was peak AM time on a Saturday, most of the tables were busy, but we did score one outside. We were ready to order within a few minutes, but had to wait for our server to stop by our table. Though he tended to several tables, he really didn't make much effort to stop and ask if we were ready to order. We had to flag him down to tell him our order. Once our order was in, however, the food arrived rather quickly. I ordered French toast, which resembled nothing like the pic in the menu. What was supposed to be several juicy, well-cooked slices turned out to be two pieces of white bread turned into French toast, which was not particularly tasty or well-cooked. My friend had two eggs, over easy, with toast and bacon. One of the eggs was broken and the yolk leaked all over his plate. The bacon was undercooked and the toast was rather soft. We asked for our check and paid the bill. To be fair, it wasn't terribly expensive, however considering the quality of the service and the food, totally not worth it. As a side note, I tried to make a phone call at the table after we paid, and the head waiter told me I could make the call on the sidewalk. I let him know we would leave once I finished my call, and he rudely told me that other people were waiting for the table. Normally, I would understand, but there was another table of people with just coffee the entire time we were dining. Um, hello! I just needed a minute to complete a call while two other people were not eating anything. The staff needs to be more polite to their customers. read more

I'm trying really hard not to judge my friend for picking this place out for our group to go for breakfast. Keyword: trying. Unfortunately it's not really working because I am quite taken aback by this place. I've heard good things, seen crowds of people happily eating food, and admired the pictures hanging on the walls, so why am I not impressed? I guess for a "diner" this place delivers. It offers mediocre food, fine service, and a relaxed atmosphere. Besides that, I really don't see why you would opt to go here and pay for overpriced bland food. Seven dollars for a fruit cocktail? No thank you. The Spanish omelette was covered in what looked like vegetable soup and the bagel the egg and cheese sandwich came on was unacceptable seeing as we are in the heart of NY. The one redeeming thing ordered would be the Belgian Waffle sundae that came with enough ice cream, whipped cream, and bananas to feed a village. The waitress did split our checks and combine tables for us which was great but not enough to motivate me to come back here again. While working in New York for a week, I needed a place to have breakfast as my hotel did not offer any accommodations for a decent, full, inexpensive breakfast. I decided to on my first morning to try instead of a street vendor. I fell in love with this little diner. It is very old, been there for a very long time and shows it. Very cozy and quiet. Staff was very friendly, quick, and because I ate there daily, they knew what I wanted. I felt like a NY regular!!! I had the French Toast with bacon and one day I tried the sausage instead. Sausage serving was so much, I only had a few bites. but it was good. the bacon was much better. But the French Toast was like Momma used to make. So, I had to have it! They serve breakfast all day and I hear they are popular for lunch and dinner too. Unfortunately, I did not have enough time to try all. lol I highly recommend this place. My parents and I decided to try this place since we had just flown into town for the weekend and it was around the corner from our hotel. We could not have been happier with our decision. Both my mom and I have food allergies and they were very accommodating. The menu was extensive, the service was fabulous and the food was delicious. Friendly service & very quick but EXTREMELY overpriced. Typically, you get very large portions for the prices charged in Manhattan but this place isn't one of them. The dessert I got was very tiny compared to a $7.25 portion at other places (such as Cafe Angelique). The server did also appreciate my mentioning that there was no toilet paper in the ladies room & said he'd make sure it was taken care of. They have a sign in there that says not to flush paper towels in the toilet so I kind of HAD to say something. read more

Very average diner food with waitstaff who doesn't understand what it means when we want our drink served WITH our food - not in advance. Buffalo burger was well instead of medium and fries were underseasoned. Prices were reasonable, but unfortunately given the neighborhood there aren't many options for good eats without paying an arm and a leg. I'm just happy that my lettuce and tomato was fresh, so perhaps next time I'll order a salad instead. We stayed around the corner from Applejacks for a week. We ate breakfast here twice and dinner twice. The food is good and consistent. Breakfast is close to home cooking and there are pages of dinner options. Their green salad was the freshest I've had in a restaurant coast to coast. The servers are extraordinarily helpful, polite, and prompt. I was happy to be served a bottled Diet Coke. My experience with NYC tap Coke hasn't been positive. The food came out relatively quickly but it was not cooked at all. We all made the mistake in ordering breakfast which wasn't a good idea, The french toast were horrible they were not cooked nor were the french fries. The eggs were the only thing that seemed to have been cooked and we barely ate them. Tried to simply get a couple cheeseburgers. Was treated to the greasiest burger I have had in quite some time. My bacon cheddar burger did not come with lettuce and tomato my girlfriends regular cheeseburger did. That wasn't a good thing though as the tomatoes were white and mealy. They were the kind of tomatoes that if those are the only ones you have you apologize to customers and tell him you are currently out of tomatoes currently. To add insult to injury one cheeseburger no bacon plus one cheeseburger with bacon and one side of fries was $40! I will not be going back.
