Appliance Guard exceeded my expectations for an appliance repair company these days. When our industrial grade freezer stopped functioning at work I decided to go with this company based on a word-of-mouth reference. I spoke to Mike on the phone and he was very courteous and easy to speak with about setting up a next-day appointment first thing in the morning. Already impressed by how simple the process was. Boris arrived in the time frame they specified to me and was very fast in diagnosing the issue, and even had the parts in the truck to repair it right there (Also wasnt expecting this). What I thought was going to be a costly repair turned out to be much less than I expected and much quicker than I expected. The diagnosing fee was even waived at the end. In short, I was very happy with the work done by this company and would definitely call them the next time we need appliance maintenance at the office. I wish I could use them for my home appliances too but I live too far out of their service radius. This is how business should be done.. As others wrote here on Yelp, the service from Appliance Guard and Boris was excellent. I was able to make a same-day appt. (early evening), Boris called when he promised and appeared right on-time. My ice maker was broken and he made sure that all minor issues were ruled out before letting me know I needed to replace it. Service call on 4/9/2012. They called like they said they would, and arrived when they said they would arrive. Boris was the technician, and he was able to fix my dryer during his service call. He had the part on his truck. He also recommended I not fix the bad bearing in my washer, as it would not be cost effective. He said to replace the washer when it stops working since it would almost cost as much to fix it as it would be to replace it. Called to have washer checked out due to making very loud noise on spin cycle.. and also had a water drip on refrigerator water dispenser. Well, the washer ended up being a bearing - so better to replace it, it is an older model washer.. The refrigerator is newer and the water dispenser wouldn't stop dripping. They had to go and get a part and come back... They really took their time - figured out why even after replacing the part still had a drip. They were so efficient - checking everything and ended up putting in a different part.... They were on time, explained to us what they were doing.. I got their recommendation from Nextdoor - and I am so glad I did... Thank you to Tony and I don't recall who the other man's name.... But for sure, they are the ones to call..... Somehow, all of my appliances began having trouble at the same time. My microwave door broke, my oven stopped running and my dishwasher stopped mid-cycle every time I used it. I called Appliance Guard and Yuri came out to check on everything. We discussed the benefits of fixing versus replacing and he, like me, would rather keep everything running as long as possible. They ordered all of the parts and came out to repair everything a few days later. I can't tell you how nice it is to use my entire kitchen again! The customer service person that answered the phone and scheduled the appointment was very nice and well spoken. He set me up with an appointment same day (on Saturday). Boris gave me a call 20 mins. before he showed up which was a nice touch. Once he got here he got right to work in diagnosing the issue with our 15 year old Speed Queen Washer. Within a few minutes he found that it was an issue with our central seal and recommended purchasing a new one. I asked for a few recommendations and he provided them and explained why he preferred these brands and types. I would recommend this company. read more

AWESOME! Four days ago my garbage disposal & fridge both went out on the same day. Boris was able to give me an appt that same morning (as i was about to start a 12 hour shift at work & didnt want my food to spoil). He was fast (just 1 hr to repair both) accurate, extremely professional and the customer service was outstanding. I am totally pissed because I've paid stupid Sears (don't use them) to fix the exact same thing twice to the tune of $700 bucks...yikes... Called them at 1:00 pm and Boris was at my house at 4:00 pm (just like he said)....I LIKE when people do what they say... My fridge was fixed by 4:30 pm, perfect, resonable and I couldn't be happier. I have been using these guys for years. They kept my ancient top-loading machine running for years until I finally had to replace it. We've had our new front loading machine for about a year and alas, had to call these guys again. They came out the same day, in fact, Yuri called to say he was in the area and could come sooner than expected. Something got in the line and clogged up the drain. These guys are very honest, dependable and reasonably priced. It's really nice to have someone you can trust. read more

A technician named Yury came to look at our over a few weeks ago. The oven had been heating up very slowly or not at all. After a few minutes of fiddling, Yury declared that the problem was with the "controller" (I think this means the computer), and would be $315 to fix. When I asked how he came to that conclusion, he quite arrogantly and condescendingly stated "Because I checked. That is my job." I think Yury would be interested to know that a few days later, a different repair man correctly diagnosed the problem as a bad igniter, which costs half as much, and the oven has been working fine since then. read more

After a terrible experience with Michael's Appliances for repair on my KitchenAid refrigerator, I found these guys through their positive Yelp reviews. I first talked to someone named Michael in the office who was super helpful. Then three hours later Yuri arrived. Note -the same day! (which when you have a broken refrigerator, is so greatly appreciated). Yuri was very professional and skilled. He figured out the problem in around one minute, replaced a circuit board for the defrosting mechanism and defrosted and cleaned the mechanism. End result -a fixed refrigerator in around an hour. Most importantly, he had the needed part (the new circuit board) in his truck so there was no delay due to having to order a part. This is huge in my opinion. We have used AG 2 times. The first was for a malfunctioning dryer and then later when the dryer vent vented into the room. Boris handled both calls, called 20 minutes before he arrived and not only fixed the appliance, but explained the failure and how he was going to fix it. I tried using the self-cleaning oven feature on my oven the Friday before Thanksgiving when the oven started making a horrible noise that wouldn't stop. My usual company was busy due to the holiday, so I called Appliance Guard and I'm really glad I did. They were able to come out the next day and the technician, Yury, was very professional. He explained they needed to order a fan and would do their best to fix the oven before Thanksgiving. They kept me up to date about when the part would arrive and were able to install it at 4:00 the night before Thanksgiving. Both Yury and the other technician were friendly, courteous, and quick. So far so good on my Frigidaire washer repair. My washer would not drain all the water and not wanting to buy a whole new unit, I looked into repair. I called Appliance Guard this morning and by early this afternoon Boris was here to fix my washer. They have a $35 fee to diagnose the problem and that is waived if you go with the repair. When I called they said a repair guy would be by between 2-5pm and at 2 Boris called and was here by 2:30 (beats the cable guy who makes you wait all day and never a phone call). Boris explained the repair to me, gave me an accurate estimate and fixed it on the spot. My first load of laundry post repair is in the wash as we speak and everything seems to be working as good as new. I'll update this review if something changes otherwise I'm very happy with their work. read more

These guys are the best. Urei was the person who took care of my washer issue. The minute he came to the door I knew he was competent and knew what he was doing. A young guy from Europe who posses "old world" skill, knowledge and "pride in workmanship" something missing from most A holes who profess to do work at your location. The company was prompt and reasonable and I had a difficult problem taken care of promptly. Beware of the MANY companies with nice believable web sites. I talked to many "repair companies" from the net and many told me to "take a hike" because my dryer was located on top of my washer and they only send one person who cannot move the dryer by himself. Urei "worked around" that issue. Beware of "A-Star appliance repair" and/or "Professional Appliance Repair" in Torrance, they are rude and unrteliable, Appliance Guard however is reliable, honest and efficient. read more

Do NOT hire this man!!! First of all, he missed my appointment. I waited the entire day for him to show up or at least call. Finally, he answered his phone in the evening. He said he'd call me the following day to set something up. I should have just called someone else, but I thought I'd give it a chance. He came out and told me he couldn't fix my microwave door - and charged me $65.00! Really? The guy lives in my neighborhood, a mile away. I wouldn't recommend him to my enemy. Please know, from the get-go, this is NOT an angry review, it's a 100% true one. I was given the name Appliance Guard and "Morris" (I see it might be "Boris," but this is what I was given...) from a specialty refrigeration company whose product I own. I called and made an appointment for a Thursday between 3PM and 5PM. Around 3 I called to confirm and was told that Morris was at another job but WOULD be coming and would call me first. HE NEVER SHOWED UP. HE NEVER CALLED. I left an angry message at 8PM and I NEVER HEARD BACK. Please, please, please do not use these people. If this is how they run a business, and they are rewarded for it, we all lose. read more

I called these guys out to service a Revco Fridge (specialty commercial fridge) and even though they hadn't worked on one of them before, they knew what was wrong and how to fix it. That's when you know you have someone that knows their craft. They worked on it and recharged the fridge. They clean up after themselves and were gone. Three month warranty. If I could give 0 stars, I would. Called on Monday to schedule for Saturday. They gave me between 9a and noon. Come Saturday at 12:30p and no call or visit, I called and was told I wasn't in their schedule. They told me they would have someone in the area between 2p and 5p and they would call when close by to keep the appointment. 5p, no call, no visit. Been waiting around all day for a non-existent visit. Someone finally calls at 5:10p, saying they are on their way. I told him never mind. 8 hours of waiting is long enough. Great service! Had a problem with a sub zero fridge at the house and Boris come out due to a recommendation by a neighbor. Extremely grateful that he referred me to my company. Boris came on time and diagnosed a issue with the compressor, he gave me a few options and I decided to choose a freon charge Instead of a full compressor replacement. This was 3 days ago, I'm writing this review right now as I'm looking at our fridge and want to say that what Boris recommended was a good option as the fridge is working and pumping out cold air. When our 11 year old Kitchen Aid refrigerator started to leak I needed it fixed quickly and inexpensively. These guys came right out and addressed the problem. Everything was thoroughly explained and the price they quoted was what we paid. They did have to order one part which came in during the time frame they told me. Best of all, they called me to schedule finishing the job, I didn't have to call them. Here's the kicker. During the time we were waiting for the refrigerator part to come in, our dryer broke. When they came to finish the refrigerator they were able to fix the dryer at the same time because they had the part we needed on the truck! How random is that? We had a leaking seal on our refrigerator door and I called Appliance Guard and they came out and said the door hinge needed replacement and I gave them the OK to order the part. I paid the service call fee, but after 3 weeks and many calls they failed to follow up and order the part. Frustrated, I found another repair service here on Yelp, called and they ordered the part and fixed it with a few days. Might be an anomaly, but my experience was less than satisfactory! read more
