Nail techs are inconsistent. Some are friendly, do a nice job. Others, act like they can't be bothered and are rude. I asked the nail tech help in finding a match to a picture I brought in. So sad to say this but don't waste your time or money here. I got a gel manicure here 4 days ago and it's already chipped. The manicure wasn't great to begin with, but I at least thought it would get me about 2 weeks. Not worth it unfortunately. Response to owner: I came in on a Friday for my manicure, my nails chipped by the following Tuesday while I was on vacation, and I called you Wednesday when I got back. I live in New York City and was leaving at 6am the next day (Thursday) to drive back to New York. I said I would delay my trip by 3 hours and come in at 9am to your salon before my work meetings started at 10. You rejected and told me I could only come at 10. The only reason I've been going to this salon for the past few months is for its calming atmosphere and proximity to where I live. It also has a large selection of colors. As for the service, I think it is extremely overpriced for what it is. I have had a variety of nail techs who all do a very mediocre job. They are very rude and rough on your fingers. They don't even massage your hands with lotion afterwards. I asked for dip and they did two coats of gel color on top of the dip and now they are all bumpy and look like a mess. Side note- I am never one to complain and very rarely leave reviews. I was just so turned off after my last experience here that I will not be returning and I do not recommend. Just 1.5 weeks after I got the gel done. Made an appointment online, requested to upgrade pedicure which they refused. Then shortly after they wanted to do my gel before my regular pedi, which made no sense to me since I would want my toes to be drying while my nails are being done as to not waste more time in the salon. I like when it's the same person for both, but the nail techs were just as fantastic as the pedicure girls. I really breaks my heart to give AR Nail Bar a low rating after being a loyal customer here literally from the time the place opened and referring many others, but today was ridiculous. I booked an appointment for my birthday to spend the afternoon being pampered only to have a terrible spa pedicure - asking for a French with a sparkle overlay that I have had before - and told it was impossible. Then, when getting my nails done, I asked for them same -- again, something I had done in the past with ombré S&S and my nails came out completely white. Everything was mismatched and I had to ask for my feet to be repainted because it looked ridiculous -- which of course they asked me to pay for while being fairly rude and making me feel horrible about it. This is one of the ABSOLUTELY WORST experiences I've had at a Mani/pedi Salon. I had an appointment for a pedi and was 5mins late for my appointment. 3mins into the appointment I get a call from the front desk. I said I'm On my way and will be there within 5mins. The person who talked to me was really rude and I was already doubting If I should go ahead with my appointment. I went to the salon and the woman at the front desk asked me to pick a color. I was frustrated to find that they didn't have the color (light blue color) I was looking for and most nail polish bottles were dried up. I was doubting if this was a good place and was even more frustrated. Then I was waiting for my pedi for like another 10mins. I went and asked the woman at the front desk TWICE that i was only few mins late and how long it will take. She had the worst etiquette ever and just kept telling me that we are getting a chair ready for you. It's in the small things like how you would talk to a customer that makes all the difference. This place is absolutely sub par. I was furious when they took in a walk in and someone else with a later appointment and I was still sitting there. That is when I just left the place, SO ANNOYED! So I've been going here for over a year now just out of convenience to it being near my job , also it was a great nail salon up until now . I asked for the most simple thing French tip gel , the woman rush and it came out exact as it would if some one rushed . You can see through the white tip because she only did one layer of gel. The gel looks smeared on and clumpy on some nails as well as seeing my old nail polish under the new gel. Super disappointed. When I got to the front desk to pay is the first time I got to really glance at it & I was in a rush to get back to work so i didn't even bother with arguing to get it fixed simply because I've also seen the man at the front desk make it a big deal with other costumers before. This place is so calm, peaceful, clean, and everyone is so nice when it comes to helping you. They will do anything to make sure you leave happy. Been here a few times, and typically enjoys the ambiance and the service. However, had the rudest service ever during the most recent visit. First off, the technician I had today was not the one on my appointment, and I was given no context on why she was doing my nails today. Then she did not completely remove the old dipping powder off my nails until I asked her to do it again. Her reason was that my nails were thin. I've been getting my nails done for years and have not been to one place that does not take the old coat off because the nails are thin. Later, after being asked to wash my hands and dried off, I returned to the table and she said "we have paper towels, didn't you see it?" This could have come out a better way if she wanted me to dry my hands more, but I did not appreciate the tone and the way she said it at all. In the end, she put two coats of chrome powder on my left hand, but only one coat on my right hand. She seems to be in a rush and started serving another client before mine was done. When asked about the reason for only having one coat on the right hand, her response was that the color didn't show on my left hand initially, hence the second layer. After getting home today, I noticed the color didn't show on some nails on my right hand either, leaving the color on both hands uneven. This whole experience makes me feel like the technician for some reason was in a rush, and did not do a good job. I don't usually write reviews, but this was an unpleasant experience. read more

First off, let me start by saying this place is pristine. Clean and the aesthetic is on point. With that being said, after coming about 5 times over the last year, my most recent was my last. I went in a few weeks ago for a gel manicure and ended up pretty unhappy with the results. My technician missed getting to the tips of my nails and capping them off. I type for work. A lot. These things wouldn't have lasted more than a few days. This was after my gel manicure before this one lasted over four weeks (same place, different person) so I was surprised at the lack of attentiveness. I called, expressed I wasn't 100% satisfied and they said I could come back in to have them fixed. Great! My new set was perfect. No chips and lasted over two weeks like they were new the whole time. Went in this past a Tuesday, got the same technician I didn't really like (after I had specifically asked for anyone but her in my appointment notes when booking). Same thing. She didn't get close enough to the tips (already looked like they're chipped the second I got into my car) and not capped off AGAIN. Here were are 5 days out and it doesn't look like a new manicure. Rough edges and Ive already had to smooth parts out. Yea I could call again, but Im generally not a complainer and I cant be taking time out of my schedule to keep going back every time they aren't right. For $40 and an hour of my time, they should be right. They say they guarantee their work for 2 weeks but two visits in a row? On to find another nail salon! Maybe you'll get lucky so not saying you shouldn't go and try them out (Ive had great luck with them before these last two visits) but Im just sharing my overall experiences and because this is the second time its happened so I just wont be back. read more

My first time visiting and I loved it despite not being able to get both a pedicure and dip manicure. Due to low staff I had to choose between one or the other service (not typical) but I needed my nails done so I chose to get Dip. Service was great and the atmosphere and salon were very nice and relaxing. It was explained to me that since they just opened their doors, customer volumes were not anticipated to be as high and for that reason they did not have as many staff working. It's unfortunate because being turned away for a service is not ideal since a lot of a nail salon's business is walk-in. Nevertheless, I'd be willing to go back again and try a pedicure service and re-up on my nails; it's right next to work so I can't beat the location. If you get turned away or asked to comeback, don't give up. It's one of the best salons aesthetically that I've been to and the nail techs were all very customer service focused. Made an appointment this morning to have my nails done at 4:30. They double checked on the phone that they had availability and confirmed my appointment. They took my number as well. I am out of town so I paid for an Uber to come out to see them. When I arrived there were people waiting and very few nail technicians in a huge space. When I told them I had an appointment the women said they didn't have an appointment for me and that they had been booked since the morning. I am not sure if she was pretending I was not in the system because they were overwhelmed or if the person who confirmed my appointment lied. Either way I am in a city I don't know, and paid for an Uber to get here during rush hour...... such a great experience. read more

I've been to this nail salon twice, both with about an hour notice and they were somehow able to fit me in. That is already a plus because I seem to never know I want my nails done until the day of usually, so I need a place that isn't booked weeks in advance. When you walk in there is always someone at the front desk to greet you and help you get checked in, which is very nice. Moreover, they have a good selection of colors, making it difficult to choose because I wanted them all. As far as my gel manicure I really have nothing to complain about. The lady working on me was very sweet and even made me realize that I wanted gel because I needed my nails to last for an event I had coming up. As far as my pedicure, that also was very nice. Their pedicure chairs are not the most comfortable things in the world, and I felt like she gave me a much shorter massage than most people getting pedicures, but my nails turned out almost perfect. The salon itself was very clean and spacious and calming music was playing, which made the whole experience even better. Right now I am very happy with this salon and I will most likely continue going to it as my first option unless another replaces it as my favorite or I become unhappy with it for one reason or another. It didn't feel like they cared that I had been waiting and didn't indicate that I'd be helped soon, so I canceled my appointment and left. Not a great way to run a business nor a good way to treat customers when the ambience is supposed to be relaxing and they have scheduled customers waiting for service. I've also gotten my nails done there a few times, and while the staff is nice, I've left with bubbles and wrinkles in my $50 manicure multiple times. I was a regular at this place since July of 2020, and have had a good experience for the most part. I had to instances that had happened to me, where I will no longer be coming here. The first thing that had happened to me, was I got a hot stone pedicure and as I was getting it another person came to remove the dip from my nails. This happen as there was a candle lit, to keep the stones warm. The person was being careless and had gotten acetone on the candle and the surrounding area and things started to catch on fire. The woman doing my toes had to hit it with a towel- and as dangerous as it was. Not only did the owner not come to me and apologize for something like that happening. But I also still paid full price after a scary experience like that. My second experience, was about 3 days ago. I gave my nail tech a photo of inspiration for what I wanted my nails to look like. And it wasn't what I wanted. After she did my nails I noticed the light pink color i had was splotchy and there were dark patches where it was not evenly coated with polish. After paying $100 for my toes and nails, I asked if possibly someone could redo them. I was just disappointed in the work done. I felt bad for asking but because I dropped $100 and usually do EVERY 2-3 weeks. I did not want to leave with nails that werent what I wanted. They told me I had to pay $28 on top of what I already paid. I said nevermin, upset that because they know me. They'd want to deliver the best experience possible because I had been a regular for almost a year. But they didn't and I was just a bit sad. Later that day, one of my nails had chipped. Gel is suppose to last 2 weeks, and having nails I wasnt happy with- I still wanted them to last for spending $45 on them. and two days later, which is today. TWO more nails chipped. The girl who did my toes did an amazing job and my toes haven't chipped. But because of the experience I've had, and the customer service being not great. Horrible experience . I been getting my nails done off and on since A.R. opened. Today I had an appointment for a full acrylic set - regular polish NOT GEL. The technician asked me 3 or 4/times if I was getting gel- I answered no every time.. it's 15$ more just for polish. He was obviously upset with me because of the polish- then charged me 58$ for my nails when I've never paid more than 45$. he tried to say the upcharge was because I have curved nails?!?!?!?! What!!??? I questioned the charge at reception- they said it was because I asked for coffin shaped nails!!!! . I'm not understanding what happened or why they did this.. awful service, first time in my life I've left a service with out a tipping . Nothing about extra charges on the website.
