Arrancino's is the perfect example of the best of both worlds, in this case, best of both countries. A fusion of Italian and Japanese, these pastas here are amazing!!!! I had the opportunity to dine here two days in a row because I liked it so much. Service here is great albeit the busy atmosphere here. Servers checked on you but not overly much and constant refills on our drinks. Must order the uni pasta, squid ink pasta and the owner's favorite pizza. My only recommendation is to share the uni pasta as it can get a bit heavy for just one person. But if you love uni, eat it all! Even the complimentary foccacia bread was soft, moist and buttery. Arancinos is my all-time favorite Italian restaurant. Even though I have never been to the Kahala Arancinos, I am always very satisfied with the quality and service at the Beachwalk and Marriott locations. I have such a fierce love for two things on the menu, that I cannot bring myself to try anything else. Spaghetti Alla Checca and Mushroom Risotto [risotto di funghi]. The best you'll ever eat, for reals. The spaghetti comes with chunks of fresh mozzarella and the risotto comes with a gigantic wheel of cheese (the risotto is mixed fresh in front of you). I just cannot bear to NOT eat one of these two when I'm at Arancinos. And the plantation iced tea is such a treat because they give you a stick of sugar cane to chew on!! Other things I have tried (eaten off other people's plates) were the uni pasta, the fresh clams, the lobster bisque, and some kind of mushroom and prosciutto fettuccine. All super good and all worth getting. I want to mention that Arancinos USED to offer chocolate gelato, but sadly, has taken it off the menu. It almost makes me want to give Arancinos 4 stars, but I cannot bear to do that to my favorite Italian restaurant. Definitely the better of the two Arancino restaurants in Waikiki. I was a little weary of trying it out (I didn't love the di Mare location) but it was getting late and we needed to eat. Since it was late, the wait was only a minute or two. I went with the traditional spaghetti and meatballs. Boring, right? Uh, no. It was fantastic. I had my parents and hubby try my dish and we all agreed that it was the best spaghetti and meatballs we've ever had. Ever. Next time, I'll try the Uni pasta that everyone raves about. Had I read the reviews first, I would have been more adventurous but in the end, I can't complain about what I ordered. The restaurant itself is small and doesn't seem as commercial as their Marriott sister location. Outstanding service. Good wine list. Highly recommend. read more

Uni pasta. For my last lunch in Honolulu, I have to give it a try. Rich. Creamy. Decadent. Thirty bucks is a little on the spendy side, but for one lunch to remember, sure why not. Strolled in on a lazy sunday morning just after opening. Arancino isn't a restaurant that easily catches your eye from the outside, it doesn't scream trendy, touristy, or new. I looks like a restaurant that's been there for a while, perhaps a little weathered but not beat down. Inside, the service is friendly enough. A couple pieces of warm freshly baked focaccia, one side dipped in olive oil to a delicate crunch and we're off to a good start. Then comes the pasta, noodles cooked to an al dente perfection. Small scoops of fresh uni throughout, creamy and delicate. If I have one caveat, it was that the uni didn't make a big enough statement, that it was just a bit muted under all that cream sauce. I don't know that uni pasta is a must have I'd have to come back and have again. But definitely I wouldn't mind returning to try some of the other dishes on the menu. read more

UNI PASTA. This review is a bit biased, considering I haven't really tried much else other than the Uni pasta. I did have their meat and cheese platter, which I can't seem to remember the name of it at the moment. But if you are going to come here, you must try the Uni pasta! It is so rich and creamy! It is amazing. It really is. I'll make a trip back here for something other than the Uni pasta one day. But for now, it is all about the Uni pasta. You can park in the Bank of Hawaii building which is on the same street, but don't go too fast or you might miss it and have to circle around again! They validate for BOH building parking. There are a few metered stalls on the street, but always seems to be taken whenever I'm in the neighborhood. I believe the validation is for 3 hours, so enjoy a short stroll through Waikiki after your meal! It's very nice during the evenings. I'd recommend making reservations. But on Sunday night when we went, the were only accepting on a walk-in basis. Didn't wait long - we got lucky. Enjoy! read more

Having seen the positive reviews, I had to stop by. Even on a Monday night it was busy and they could only fit us in with a 5pm reservation. It's a small place on Beachwalk in the always popular and touristy Waikiki, so plan ahead if you want to dine here. The scallop appetizer was excellent with its thinly sliced scallops, meticulously placed sea asparagus, and fresh and unique flavors from the tobiko and champagne dressing. Portion size was no issue with the crab and zucchini pasta. A large mound of perfectly cooked noodles filled a shallow bowl with a generous amount of creamy sauce covering everything. The richness of flavors continued with the uni pasta. The uni added a slightly salty taste that complimented the creaminess of the sauce producing bold flavors that had my taste buds begging for more. To end the meal was a delicious house made tiramisu with subtle notes of alcohol under the prominent espresso flavor. Service was rather quick and efficient, making for shorter meal than expected. I've been to this Arancino several times and every time I have a wonderful experience. LOCATION: beach walk drive in Waikiki, across the Windbreaker hotel and next to Shingen restaurant. It's a small restaurant but hard to miss the big Italian flags out front. They validate parking for the bank of Hawaii lot which is also on beach walk on the left hand side. SEATING: the host stand is outside so if you speak to a host they can give you a estimate of the wait time. I've never come here when there's no wait. This place is always packed for dinner. They only take reservations between 5&5:30pm and after that it's all a first come, first serve basis. FOOD: it's Italian food with a little Japanese flare. One of their signature dishes is their uni (sea urchin) pasta, which was voted best in Honolulu. It is delicious. They have a variety of other pastas also. I really enjoy the mushroom risotto, the rigatoni, and the pescatora seafood pasta. Arancino also has house made pizzas which are interesting and tasty. My favorite is the "owner's favorite" which is topped with shrimp and garlic chips. DRINKS: they have a few Italian beers. I like the Peronis. Lots of Italian wine as well as hand crafted cocktails are also available. SERVICE: the staff is always so welcoming and kind. Last time I came we had server Maddie who took great care of us and answered all questions we had about the menu. PRICING: expect to spend about $30-40 per person without drinking. This is a solid 4 star Italian Restaurant. If you come on the weekend at lunchtime be prepared to wait a half hour and at dinnertime be prepared to wait an hour as every tourist and locals like me love this place. This is my second favorite Italian restaurant in all of Waikiki located right off of Kalakaua. The staff is very nice and their ticket time is comparable to any nice restaurant. I love that they bring you fresh bread with olive oil and vinegar just as every Italian restaurant should even though many just bring you butter. Yes the uni pasta is amazing just as everyone says. My other personal favorites are the spaghetti and homemade beef and pork meatballs or if your looking for something different and dont mind a black sauce the pasta with squid served in a squid ink and olive oil sauce is great. There is a special lunch menu (that you have to ask for) where you can get either a soup or salad and you can choose one of five pastas or one of 4 pizzas for only $18.95 and if your local definitely ask for that menu because they have a Kamaaina discount during lunch. I was pleasantly surprised at how good this place was. For Italian food in Waikiki, I wasn't expecting much but the food and service were actually really good. The atmosphere is medium rowdy trattoria so it's good for informal get-togethers and casual dates. I had one of the two tasting menus on offer ($58) which features an appetizer, antipasti, entree, and dessert. The breakdown: -Carpaccio di capesante ($17 a la carte): Delicate scallop sashimi with local sea asparagus, tobiko caviar & red onions with light champagne dressing - I really liked this dish; the scallop was nice and sweet, the sea asparagus * caviar gave it a little crunch, and the dressing not overwhelming but there. -Antipasti sampler ($15 a la carte): A trio of the popular starters - caprese, shrimp & avocado salad and prosciutto with papaya - The salad was ok, the prosciutto & papayay were pretty great, the papaya super ripe and sweet, caprese was very good. -Spaghetti ai ricci di mare ($28 a la carte): Uni pasta - Ok I HAD to get this to see what the hype is about. It is excellent; better eat it when it's hot because it's a little glue-y when it gets cold. The uni isn't overpowering as you might think. The uni gives the cream sauce a little something extra. -Affogato - Simply delicious. You can't go wrong with quality vanilla ice cream with a shot of espresso poured on top! Service was very friendly without being syrupy. The focaccia was warm and soft, I really had to hold back so I can eat real food. We went to Arancino for dinner on our last night in Hawaii. While the service was wonderful and the portions were huge, we were otherwise a little underwhelmed with the experience. I started off with a glass of red wine -- I don't remember the name and it's not listed on the website -- but for $12, I thought the pour was a little small. We also shared a bowl of the zuppa di aragosta (lobster bisque with sherry), which was pretty good. Entrees: I had the linguine ai gamberetti (black tiger shrimp and arugula in a tomato sauce). I wasn't super excited by the dish's description, but because it got such high ratings on Yelp, I decided to give it a try. I actually thought it turned out a be a bit lackluster, however. The highlight was the pasta, cooked al dente, but the sauce was kinda bland, the shrimp were eh, and the arugula didn't add anything valuable except, I suppose, nutrients. My boyfriend had the spaghetti al nero di sepia (squid sautéed in black squid ink garlic sauce). We both thought it was good, not great, but it's possible that black squid ink dishes just aren't our thing. The place was super casual and reminiscent of an old school Italian restaurant. First came here maybe couple years back, and it's just as good as I remember it. + UNI PASTA (sea urchin). This was bursting with that magical uni flavor but thankfully it wasn't too rich. It went perfectly with the al dente spaghetti. I would definitely order this again! + SCALLOPS with TOBIKO CAVIAR and SEA ASPARAGUS ($29 appetizer). Delicate and balanced flavors and textures. A little pricey since the scallops are cut into a thinner slice, but still it was delicious. + RISOTTO FUNGHI (5 types of mushroom). This was also delicious, again very tasty but not overly rich, The food, service and ambiance are excellent. Three of us shared the three dishes, along with a beautiful pinot blanc, and dessert of ice cold limoncellos sealed the deal. Although I wish they offered sides of protein since there's not much of it on the menu, like a side of Italian sausage, grilled chicken breast or ribeye, fish or clams, I still love this place. They don't take reservations after 6pm so I suggest an early dinner, or putting your name on the list then going for a walk around Beachwalk. Also, if I remember correctly, they don't take reservations. The service was really good. Our server was pretty attentive and friendly. The food was pretty good- we ordered the meat lasagna, seafood pasta (pescatore) in marinara sauce, and spaghetti with meatballs. My seafood pasta was tasty. My son and daughter-in-law heard about Arancino and wanted to try here so I called to see if they could accommodate us last night. They take only early reservations...after that it's walk in, sign up on the wait list and then they call you when the table is checking out. I guess that's how it works now...l learn something new everyday. It was fine as there's lots of places to go and things to see in Waikiki. We got our call and hustled over there. I loved the place...charming and cozy...a bit crowded with tables and servers hustling about...the noise level was fine...it was a busy noise, but not where you felt like you were yelling at each other...we could carry on a pleasant conversation. Menu has quite a few items from appetizers, salads, main dishes to desserts...we ended up getting the items I posted....arugula salad with prosciutto, shrimp pizza with garlic chips, blue crab pasta, seafood pasta, uni pasta, tiramisu and frozen orange creme brulee. Finished off with Americano. I guess I really didn't need to post all of the photos as they already had 400 photos of their food....but I did want to share photos on FB... Everything was really good...we ate family style so we all got to sample everything. Presentation was nice, portions just right and flavors good. After eating some sort of Asian almost every night, I was craving some Italian. Thanks to Yelp, I found this place. I did call-ahead seating, and got my name added to the list early so had a shorter wait. The place is very intimate (aka tiny) and was packed. Service was excellent. Our waitress was quick and friendly and the host Aaron is a sweetheart. I got the spaghetti and meatballs as my entree. It was really good with a creamier tomato sauce. The best part about the meal though was the salad. I ordered the shrimp and avocado salad with grapefruit and drizzled with a grapefruit vinaigrette. My three favorite ingredients together was just as magical as I hope it would be. Fantastic salad that's worth the hefty $14 price on it. Here the reviews: -Ambience: small cozy place, maybe 12 tables the most. -Service: Friendly staff, 10 points. -Menu: they had a lunch menu (see picts) for $23.95 and its served with garden salad, ceasar salad or tomato basil bisque. But after reading the reviews, i saw those were not their most popular items, so decided to get me: -Lobster bisque ($12): this one had a lot of flavor but do not expect to find any chunk of lobster, not even one!. And for the price, i think at least one little piece would have been nice! -Insalata rucola con prosciutto ($14): I enjoyed the prosciutto being so fresh! This one was good but nothing wow. -Spaghetti ai ricci di mare ($35) (spaghetti with uni sea urchin in a sweet garlic wine cream sauce): I ordered it "al dente" (thats how i like my pasta) and decided to get this one because its supposed to be one of their most popular items. It was good but i've tried better, even Taorminas (down the corner had a better flavor) and for $35 i am not sure i would try it again. I was told this place was Sicilian, but in actuality the dishes were a bit more Central (lighter sauces) than I was expecting, and that was a very welcome surprise! My boyfriend walked here on a Friday night and only had to wait 15 minutes for a table. The decor is simple yet more modern, and I agree with the reviewer who commented that you don't really feel like you're in Waikiki. The staff are very energetic, the resident wine snob knows his stuff, and I was extremely excited that they carried wine from one of my favorite towns in Abruzzo, Montepulciano! My dining companions and I opted for an early dinner due to a 6:30am flight the next morning and a toddler in tow. We called ahead to Aracino to be put on the list and showed up just after 6pm on a Sunday. This didn't turn out to be early enough because we were waiting for almost an hour until our party of 5 was seated. I was so hungry I started snacking on hi-chews (best snack ever!) from the ABC store next door. Once we were FINALLY seated the servers at Aracino made up for it by getting our food out pretty fast. We started with the papaya and prosciutto appetizer, which seemed like a bit of an odd choice to me, but it was super tasty. We also ordered the crudite app, which was basically veggies and a very hot (temp on spicy) anchoive dip. Loved it! And I think I may have devoured half a loaf of their warm bread as well. As for my entree I went with the pasta with squid. It was very messy to eat, but quite good. If I wasn't pregnant I probably would have chosen the uni pasta, but felt like that was a bit risky with a baby in my stomach. Unfortunately, no dessert since we had to get to bed for our early wake-up, but there wasn't much room for it after so much food. During that time, beachwalk was still in major construction and the only thing that was open on that street was Arancino, Sushi restaurant and the ABC store. We decided to put our names down because we seen many people waiting to eat. We figured, a lot of people waiting to eat there means this place must be good. We finally got seated and we're given complementary focaccia bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. I ordered the spaghetti and meat balls and my boyfriend had the lasagna. Once we got our food, I gave it one try, and I was sooo good. I hate ordering spaghetti at Italian spots, but since the waiter recommend it, I decided to give it a try. My bf's lasagna was wonderful! The meat sauce was perfect and the mozzarella cheese was oozing out the pasta. I really enjoyed the food here...I enjoyed it so much that we came back for lunch the next day! This time, we tried the pizza's...I got the Margherita pizza and my bf had the shrimp seafood pizza. I love the Margherita pizza...it was just right amount of fresh mozzarella and basil. The crust was perfect...and we also ordered the lasagna again. It was sooo good! This place is so good, that when we came back last year, we introduced my sister and her bf to it! We took them to lunch and they ordered the meat lover's pizza and it was sooo good! They loved it so much that they ate there again without us this time! I highly recommend this place. On a recent stay in Waikiki, the wife and I decided to have dinner at Arancino on Beachwalk. We've previously dined at the other two locations (di Mare & Kahala) so we new more or less what to expect in terms of cuisine, and this locations certainly didn't disappoint! We walked in around 7pm and were quoted a wait of 20-30 minutes. We were in in probably 15 minutes and promptly seated. We had a small table near the bar, in what is a really tiny restaurant. Luckily the tables are spaced out enough that you aren't elbowing your neighbor, but it is a bit tight. Your waitress, Yuko, was extremely friendly and helpful. To start I ordered a ginger cooler, which had great ginger flavor, while the wife went for some tropical drink, which was also good. This was served with the house focaccia. Since we weren't really hungry, we skipped the appetizers and went straight for the pasta. I ordered the Spaghetti Granchio e Zucchini (blue crab, tomato, zucchini, cream sauce) while the wife ordered the signature Spaghetti ai Ricci di Mare (uni spaghetti). Both were great, with the Granchio being not too heavy/creamy and the Ricci di Mare being amazing as usual. Hands down the best uni pasta in town so far! And for dessert we got a tiramisu to go, which was good. All-in-all, another great dine with the Arancino Empire. I prefer the Marriott location because it's larger, but the Beachwalk location is just as good. Both tend to get very busy, so reservations are highly recommended if you can! read more

I've seen a lot of photos from this place and have had this place on my to-do list for quite some while. Saturday night at 9:30 I had a chance to visit. When we arrived, the restaurant was still pretty busy. Our waiter was friendly but seemed to be in a rush. We weren't given much time to read before he rushed us to order appetizers. But he didn't re-appear to take our entree orders until we finished all our bread and appetizers. The food came out timely so it wasn't a big deal. We ordered the carpaccio di capesante, white wine clam, a couple Uni pastas, the pizza with egg on top, spaghetti pescatora, fettuccine alfredo and seafood risotto. The appetizers were yummy as well as the fresh focaccia bread. My friends enjoyed their Uni pastas and the rositto. I tried a couple slices of the pizza and it was delicious! My spaghetti however was undercooked and over salted. The shrimp they use seemed cheap. My bf's fettuccine was also a bit undercooked. I like the ambiance and music they play. I think it's a good date night spot but the food was a little disappointing. I will probably go back to try other dishes, or maybe skip the pasta for the pizza and some appetizers. read more

Of course their other pasta and pizza are delicious too but there's something about the spaghetti and meatballs here... there's a yummy underlying flavor of cheese in the meatballs and it's simple, hearty and tasty! The place is very small and seems to fill up fast during meal times so make reservations. Prices range from $35 for the lobster and spaghetti dish (contains 1lbs of Maine lobster) on the high side to much less expensive items around $15 (sorry, I forgot to take note of what these items were). I ordered the pasta with squid and a garlic squid ink sauce (it turned my teeth, tongue, and lips black as ink). My wife had the lasagna. My portion was enough that I couldn't finish it, she managed to finish off the entire lasagna. I wasn't that hungry and we did avail ourselves to the free bread. The waitress was very good about bringing us more bread, three entire plates of it, and then we told her we didn't need any more bread but it appeared she would have brought us a fourth plate of it if we had asked. My glass stayed full and the waitress didn't miss a beat refilling either of our drinks when they needed it. The downside to this place is that food is OK or slightly better than OK. The rating above is comprised of 2-3 stars for the food and 4-5 stars for the service and half a star of tilt in favor of the overall ambiance and experience. I would almost definitely try this place again but I would not order the same items on the menu. I would like to explore the menu more and find something more satisfying. I had ample portions of squid in my item but it seemed a bit bland and it might have been muted to make the entrees more generally appealing. Great food and excellent service. Went for the lunchtime kama'aina special and had a very enjoyable meal. Since I live just up the street, I know that I will be coming here again. Just a note to kama'aina: the proof of residency requirement is very strictly enforced (and justifiably so since the discount is a very generous 50% off the special menu) so remember to bring your ID. Our salads were nicely composed and made with a nice variety of fresh greens, of course the pasta was cooked to perfection, and the portion sizes were just right for me. The bread, olive oil and vinegar were also very good. The only thing I could suggest to make things truly spectacular would be to shave the parmesan cheese rather than grate it over the entrees. One of my dining companions had the caesar salad and that had nice thick slices of parmesan on it that looked really good. No star deduction as I know that grated parmesan is the norm. Among the tourist traps of Waikiki, this is quite a find. Japanese style Italian, like Basta Pasta in nyc, but maybe better (because of the checkered table cloths)? I will most definitely be back. The tobiko pasta is awesome. The crunch of the tiny fish roe with the chewy squid rings and the pasta al dente... cute little explosions of flavor! The bagna cauda was also most tasty. It's totally anchovy and olive oil driven so it might not be to everyone's liking, but I loved it. The dish is heated under a candle. Fancy. Also had the shrimp pizza which I loved - for its thin crust and soft mellow olive / garlic / shrimp flavors. I couldn't finish it so we took it back to the hotel. Decent little Italian place. I was expecting more. As with most places in the area, they are over priced, especially wine. The bolognese was "normal". Pizza was pretty good. Caesar Salad was a typical Caesar salad. Nothing stood out enough for me to warrant anything above 3 stars. read more

I came here for my last birthday dinner, and that uni pasta changed my life! I also took advantage of the Yelp coupon they had, big incentive to come in and done. It's right in the heart of Waikiki, cute little restaurant where you are situated really close to other diners. We didn't mind, but just a note that the tables are kind of close together. The quality and portion size justify the price in my eyes. Husband had a lasagna that he had enough leftovers for lunch. Lobster bisque was so creamy and not fishy tasting. PROS: We called ahead to see about reservations, but they said they were already booked for the night. I told them what time we wanted to eat and they estimated what time I should come by for a walk-in. Put our names on the list at recommended time, and sure enough got the phone call at about the time we had originally wanted to go! Nice drink menu. Waitress was friendly. CONS: No chicken parmesan. This was so disappointing for me, as I judge Italian restaurants based off this dish. And no military discount. read more

8-3-19 Update - Love this Place Arancinos on Beachwalk in Waikiki is such a great place. A little restaurant tucked away on a side street with the feel of Italy. You are made to feel welcomed as soon as you step into the door. We were greeted with "buonasera (good evening)". The ambiance was relaxed and the service was outstanding. Our server Shekaiba helped us to navigate the menu and make some suggestions. We ended up having the Affettato misto and Cuocere di Vongloe (fresh clams in a white wine sauce) with their complimentary house made bread. We left no trace of the appetizers. It was so good. For the main entrees, the three of us shared the Spaghetti alla Scoglio, Rigatoni all' Amatriciana, Spaghetti Contobiko e Calamari and the Pizza tre Porcellini. It was so delicious. For dessert we had the Mango Sorbetto and Vanilla Gelato. The food was outstanding! We never felt rushed. We had such a good time, I can't believe I didnt take any pictures. The manager Stacey came to check on us several times which was such a nice touch. Good friends, delicious food, great service. I'll have to take pictures the next time for sure. Very nice Italian dining. The pizza is delicious; at 10 inches, it's enough for two (especially if you get an appetizer or dessert). The tiramisu and creme brûlée are outstanding. Responsive service; I was dissatisfied with the lobster bisque and they promptly apologized and removed it from my bill. read more

I'm fairly certain my dreams tonight will be of Arancino's tiramisu because it's been on my mind since I had my first bite this evening. I'd come back for the tiramisu alone, but luckily the food is delicious as well. To begin, the complimentary rosemary focaccia is divine. We had seconds... and shamelessly asked for thirds. The star dish of the night was the chef's special, fettuccine with shrimp in a tomato cream sauce. I wish they'd put it on their permanent menu. The linguine ai gamberetti leaned too much on the salty side; I wasn't crazy about it. Service was perfect. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu and took care of us with a smile. The restaurant is small and cozy, hole in the wall. There's a wait every night. The food is a bit pricier than I'm used to paying back on the mainland for Italian. But considering all the overpriced stuff in Waikiki, it's about average price. Pasta entrees are about $13-25. Included is a Foccacia bread basket. Service is good. Taste wise, it was pretty good. Though, I kinda felt that the food seemed to cater more to the Japanese patrons. Portions are small, not really designed for family style sharing. I had the squid ink and garlic spaghetti. It was good. The standard spaghetti and meatballs was okay, I like the meatball, it actually tasted like meat. The sauce was chunky and didn't run or separate.
