Such a cute Thai place in a nice, big parking lot! I'm so glad to have found Ari's Thai so close to home. I don't feel there's good enough Asian food scene here in Azusa. We've been here twice now and I feel I have seen all kinds of occassion here - from date night, soccer team celebration, family meals, and friends meet up. Literally all kinds of gatherings are suitable here. We loved their pad thai and panang curry. I feel like getting a pad thai at a Thai place is my benchmark to whether if the restaurant is good and authentic, and Ari's Thai passed the test. We were a party of 3. We ordered satay chicken, Tom Yum Kai, Red Curry with chicken and Pad Thai with pork. I enjoyed my soup and I ordered it with noodles. The noodles were a bit thick and they stuck together. I tried separating them but it was just a clump and they broke into small chucks. It was still good but not the noodles I was thinking about. The food was good the spice level is really spicy when you want spicy so be-careful. The only thing I didn't like is the crab fried rice was too wet, mushy because they didn't use the rice that was more dried during the stir fry. The flavors for everything were good. Prices on the high side, sure due the surge in everything. They had crying tiger that was in the $60 range which is shocking to see but didn't try it because of the price but I'm sure they should be using high quality steak. Green Curry was good but not one of the best Thai curry dishes I've tried. Quite pricey compared to other Thai spots in Azusa that I actually prefer. It was worth trying though. On the lookout for a dinner spot, we came across Ari's Thai and were excited to try it. As Thai food fans, my wife and I have loved Lucky Elephant in San Dimas for years and some former takeout places that used to be our Friday night Thai Food and movie night at home when our kids were little. So, finding a new Thai place is exciting for us. Overall, Ari's is doing a lot right but I'd like to give some pointers that I believe will truly help thier business if they're open to them. I wanted to give a five but as I think back through the experience it was like a 3.5. But... the food was delicious so I chose a 4. Having seen a 4.9 avg Yelp score out of 100 reviews my expectations were high. Location is in a strip mall near APU. Easy enough to get to - near the Chick-fil-A. Looks fine from the outside, nothing fancy. As you enter, it's surprisingly nice for the area. The inside is beautifully decorated - very thoughtfully and tastefully done. It has a great ambiance and overall feel about the space. One problem though. Only one other person eating them when we came at 5:30pm. That's not a great sign and odd considering the location is good and the reviews and that it was a holiday. We were greeted quickly and sat. We were asked for a preference and seated right by the entrance which I found odd since she could have sat us anywhere. We were handed menus - which were bent and dirty btw. Also, not a great sign for a brand new 1 month old restaurant. As she came to get our drink order, I asked for a Mojito but questioned if it had liquor because it was only $6.95. She said no. So I asked for a beer from the visual menu. Again, she said no. So, I put two and two together realizing they didn't have their liquor license yet. Too bad, my wife and I have triplets graduating and we wanted to have dinner, a drink, and plan next steps. But, we ordered water. (Btw, later ended up at Bacari's in Glendale where we spent another $80 on two cocktails a beer and a dessert.) We ordered dinner next - but in looking at the prices, we didn't do our normal order at Thai - where we get an appetizer or two, maybe a soup, and some dishes to share. It would have been $150/200 for that if they had drinks. So, we each picked a dish, whah whah. Not so fun. But we last second added the Crispy tofu appetizer. Even though it was $13. Quickly, within a couple of minutes the beef pad Thai came out. That was odd since I asked for the appetizer to come first. So, we started eating the one dish so it wouldn't get cold. Then, later the Curry came and then the crispy tofu last. An odd way to bring out a meal. The saving grace... each dish was pretty darn good. And, it was presented well. Although not timely. I did like the sauces but wondered why two were nearly empty and the one on the right of my pic, I loved but there were barely any chilis left. The tofu was a disappointment. Too big and not crispy enough. It was good, not great. The Pad Thai was the best of the two main dishes, but the yellow curry with pumpkin was a fun spin on the dish. The white rice wasn't cooked that well - was a bit hard. Odd. After we ate, we wanted to hang and talk, but no drinks to enjoy and an odd and an odd atmosphere with few people there. Also, considering it was empty other than a couple of tables by then, why did our dishes stay stacked in front of us? You need to bus your tables - that's a basic. When you charge a decent amount the service must match or be better than expected. I really don't enjoy sitting with dirty dishes. Lastly, the bathroom was clean but there wasn't a mirror. Again, not an elevated look or feel - doesn't match the rest of the interior. Kind of like the other odd elements of our dining experience. It was close to $80 for one tofu appetizer, two waters, and two basic thai dishes. Had we ordered a soup, crispy rolls, side salad and another dish, and drinks if they had them, it would have been $150-$200 for two people as I mentioned. We can go to Thai Diamond for takeout or Lucky Elephant and get equally as good Thai food (maybe not plated as well or as updated an interior) but it's more of a full experience. To get to a 5... - fast track liquor license (Azusa help them!) - bus tables - bring food out in proper order - remove Mother's Day signs after the holiday - clean menus (mine were stained and bent) - refill sauces - add a mirror to bathroom - promote your place (empty is not good) - add some lower cost apps / add ons We will be back but we'd love to see some of this improve. I was excited to finally checkout this restaurant because I was told it's the sister restaurant to Basil & Co which I absolutely love. The ambiance is beautiful, elegant and really clean. We were seated immediately since it wasn't busy and our server brought water to our table. My son is a Thai tea snob and I also ordered him one. I ordered the Yellow Pumpkin Curry with chicken. I love the twist to this curry because instead of potatoes they use pieces of pumpkin and it's delicious! My son ordered the House Fried Rice with chicken and Chicken Satay as his entree. All of the dishes are very similar if not the exact same dishes. Unfortunately, I was expecting everything to be prepared and taste just like the sister restaurant. The rice was a bit hard, either old or undercooked. The steamed rice that came with my curry was much better. I didn't taste the Satay Chicken but, my son seemed to enjoy it because it was all gone. I was a little disappointed when at 8:15 p.m our server visited each table and advised them that the kitchen was closing and if additional orders would like to be placed. It made me feel rushed so I paid my bill and left. Not sure if the Soft Opening has anything to do with it but, I didn't get the feeling of visiting again. I called in a takeout order a little early before they reopened at 4:30 p.m. They were kind enough to take my order early and had it ready right on time. The chicken pumpkin yellow curry was flavorful, with perfectly cooked, tender veggies and chicken. It leaned a little sweet, and the mild spice level was very mild. Next time I'll go hotter! My husband's chicken pad Thai was also a bit sweet, with a unique hint that reminded me of salted egg yolk. The papaya salad was fresh and crisp but could've used more acid and spice for my taste. The curry noodles took a bit longer to arrive, but they were absolutely delicious and worth the wait. I was a little disappointed by the chicken wing, though it wasn't like the Basil & Co. style I was hoping for, with that crispy fry and tasty sauce on the side. The garlic egg noodles were solid, but little on protein. The restaurant itself is beautiful very aesthetic with a cozy, welcoming vibe. My hubby saw on Instagram Ari's Thai Eatery had Crying Tiger and its made with Rib Eye. So we had to make a stop here to try it out. And I just cannot say no to Thai food. Crying tiger is one of those dishes that I tend to order every time I go to a Thai spot that has it. And it was not very memorable. Place is super clean and the ambiance is very modern and nice. Service wise I would say they were pretty good. They were pretty busy for a Saturday late lunch time. We did water refills and utensils for the kids but ended up trying to grab them ourselves at the front counter until the staff spotted us and stopped us. But prices are a bit steep. I could not believe that this lunch was $140+ (2 adults & 2 kids). Personally, I wouldn't come back because there's plenty of other spots that just tastes way better. So in short: Tom Kha: 4/5 a little sweet Pad Kee Mao: 5/5 chicken wasn't dried out chicken breast like what I find in Alot of restaurants, good balance of Thai bird eye chillies, garlic, basil, fish sauce, the whole shabang Thai Shu Mai: I can have these over Capital Seafood's Dim Sum Shumai any day. Ambience: you can dress up for this place, you can dress down for this place. It's classy, meets modern, meets minimalist, meets, organized, meets clean. Owners are probably Virgos. The level of attention to detail Service: server was phenomenal, you know, she does remind me of celebrity chef Pailin Chongchitnant. Like if you were running the Amangiri luxury resorts but say in Bali, and you had to choose that one person to represent your brand as a Maitre D', I'd nominate her. Verdict: Solid Thai restaurant, if I lived in this area, this would definitely be a place I'd visit on the weekly. My last review of a Thai eatery was Ruen Pair. Couple friends of mine wanted to go because Lisa from Black Pink created all this hype. Honestly, maybe I've grown used to Thai food geared towards a more American audience, Ruen Pair just wasn't my cup of tea. I grew up in the middle East during the 90s eating on a monthly basis, Poo Pad Pong Karee. There were a lot of construction projects going on back then, and Alot of construction crew workers were Thai soldiers whom just finished their military service and were transitioning to the private sector. And so in that era, I was able to eat authentic Thai food, recipes brought over from Thailand, served by OG 70s, 80s, 90s Thai Uncles and Aunties. And till this day, in the United States I have yet to find a single Thai restaurant that serves Poo Pad Pong Karee. Anyways, strongly recommend Ari's in Azusa! read more

My first impression was how open, beautifully decorated, and well-lit it was, making for a very inviting and comfortable experience. I placed a to-go order of Pad Thai with beef tenderloin, house fried rice with chicken, and yellow pumpkin curry with tofu. While I waited, I enjoyed a delicious Thai tea that thankfully wasn't too sweet. My to-go order was well-packaged. Near the counter, they had an array of nicely packaged condiment options, and the waitress kindly offered for me to take whatever I would like - a nice touch! The food was still nice and hot when I arrived home. The Pad Thai was simply delicious; the noodles were perfectly cooked (not overly sticky) with a wonderfully balanced, savory, and tangy flavor. The house fried rice was also delicious and not overly salty, and the chicken was nice and tender (my five-year-old devoured it!). The yellow pumpkin curry is a must-try; it was so well-balanced with a savory, creamy, velvety taste. The tofu was silky, and the pumpkin and carrots added just the right amount of sweetness. Ordered pad thai with chicken and drunken noodles with beef (there's a small upcharge for beef). The pad thai was mainly noodles and about 6 slivers of chicken that I had to dig for. That was weird. Drunken noodles had a good serving of meat so maybe the pad thai being short on protein was a one time fluke. I came here because I absolutely love their first store Basil and Co. This experience was different than the ones I've experienced at Basil and Co, and didn't leave me with the urge to visit again soon. Update: The restaurant did reach out, but the response felt more procedural, with no real effort to genuinely address the issue. We wanted to order the Crying Tiger but there was no pricing on the menu, we discovered from the server that it is $52 for a small portion and $67 for a medium. We were shocked and decided against it. Upon investigation on yelp, I learned it was advertised that they use ribeye. I wish there was more information on it rather than having to dig for the information myself. Price - $$$ - The pricing of the items on the menu are a bit pricier than the typical Thai spot but it does correlate with the more chic atmosphere of this eatery. You expect that it would cost roughly $15-18 per average item. The quantity/portion size is average size. Service - 2.5/5 - Everyone we spoke to was really kind and service when they were talking to us was good! I do wish they were a bit more attentive. I can give leeway for when it is really busy, but at one point it wasn't busy and the restaurant was more relaxed but the staff was still a bit hard to flag down due to them not paying attention. We would have to get up and directly ask the staff or remind them for the extra utensil or condiment etc. I think they have room for improvement but they are very sweet. I also wish the servers were a bit more representative in regards to the food dishes, like explaining why the crying tiger cost the way it did rather than shock us with the price and not further inform us about anything. What really elevated the experience, though, was the service. The staff was attentive, friendly, and made sure everything flowed smoothly despite our table being loaded with dishes. You can tell they genuinely care about the dining experience, not just turning tables. And you cannot leave without trying the mango sticky rice. Finally came in to try this new local Thai restaurant with my family. We were seated promptly and provided a menu. The place is clean and has a very boho calming vibe. We ordered Thai tea, fresh coconut, dumpling soup, spicy basil chicken, and pad Thai. The food was extraordinarily delicious. They forgot our Thai tea and we had to remind them. The Spring were delicious to start. We shared the chicken pad Thai, shrimp broccoli, and house fried rice which were cooked to perfection. Our server was very attentive and made sure my hot green tea was always full. Altogether this was a perfect valentine's date night . We will make this our go-to Thai spot. read more
