So the breakfast buffet is amazing, Included in the price are nice fresh, HUGE omelettes. It is a huge spread of food, from cereals and muffins to eggs, pancakes, potatoes. Everything you could imagine for a very reasonable price. The reason this place is getting 2 stars is because of our dinner visit. We arrived and were quickly seated, the waitress brought us our beers and then disappeared for a while. When she came back,we ordered the bbq shrimp appetizer, it was decent, very different tasting. We ordered salads which were good, but had little to no dressing on it. By this point in our meal, our beers and waters were empty, our waitress would walk by our table and not acknowledge us. Finally our dinner came out. I was very underwhelmed. $42 for a steak, it was small and served on top of potatoes. The steak was bland and fatty. We didn't finish the whole meal, because at this point, we were still waiting on refills, and were quite annoyed. The restaurant was not busy, there was some sorority event going on, so lots of tables of young girls, so that may have been the issue, but even at that, we were ignored most of our dinner. We spent more time waiting on our check than we did eating our entire meal. read more

I've had a lot of steak in my lifetime and I've traveled the world since I am a pilot! When I go to a restaurant to try their steak I am a connoisseur of sorts and know good steak from bad. THIS WAS BY FAR THEEE BEST STEAK I'VE EVER HAD IN MY ENTIRE LIFE! Order the beef tenderloin and you will certainly not be disappointed I ordered my steak cooked medium and it was absolutely perfect in tenderness flavor looks style appearance and size!! Service was absolutely spectacular and they paid attention to every detail For dessert the banana Brulé was simply amazing and it was a nice complement to an after dinner dessert! After a bottle of Duckhorn Merlot we found this to be one of the best experiences at a restaurant we have ever had!! Thank you ass Asador!! read more

Okay - This restaurant is located inside the Renaissance Hotel in Downtown Dallas on the first floor. We had reservations for 7:30pm however were a bit early. It didn't matter! They were waiting on us. We were seated promptly and had one of the nicest waiters ever! He stated everything on their specialty menu for the evening and answered any/all of our questions about the menu. There were a few things we hadn't heard of - haha. (Thanks Google!) Pros: Complimentary Valet is included as long as you get it validated. The menu is a huge variety. Wait staff very attentive. Cons: None Overall, the restaurant is very romantic. I would recommend it for any special occasion. The wine selection is pretty good, and the noise level is low - perfect for intimate talks. I'll be returning! read more

I just returned from a 2 night stay at The Renaissance Hotel in Dallas. Our group congregated at the Asador for food and drinks. Our waiter, Matthew, made the evening fantastic. I asked for an Old Fashioned and he suggested High West Double Rye and I am very glad he did. He also steered me to the grilled fish tacos and they were delicious. Thank you Matthew and Asador for a proper drink/meal. read more

For a hotel based restaurant, this place is great. Great service, great drinks and all my food was either good or VERY good. I spent a week here and had several meals here, at first due to ease, then later because I wanted to. Chris, Chelsea, Rosie and Matt all were great. How did I remember their names ? Because they were nice and I wanted to. A nicely rounded menu for any restaurant much less a hotel based restaurant. Give them a shot ... maybe just not during World Trade Center events ... they get slammed. read more

Good food! I like the concept and I greatly enjoyed the 2 meals I ate there over 2 days. The dinner salad is exceptional with the creamy green-goddess type of dressing. I had the flat iron steak on nite 1 and the burger on nite 2. Both meals were delicious. The cassava fries were ok but very stodgy and not too good, the beef fat fries were limp and improperly cooked which is very disappointing. Great service both nights and I will be back. read more

This is an upscale restaurant , I asked if they had vegan options, they said yes. The only options is a vegetable pasta that they have to hold the cheese on. It was just some pasta with olive oil and vegetables just dumped on top. The vegetables were just peas, spinach and onions. It tasted terrible, no seasoning, just vegetables on pasta. I was there for a conference and had already ordered drinks, so I ate it. However for an upscale place, I expected the chef to make something good to meat. I have eaten at the jw Marriott and the Ritz carlton; the chefs made amazing meals. So to charge $20 for a basic pasta dish isn't worth it. Yes the restaurant made excellent drinks which I did enjoy. For the rest of the conference I avoided this restaurant . This restaurant specializes in steak and nothing else. Dallas has a lot of vegan restaurants that is worth trying and deliver to this hotel. read more

Went here for a late dinner (still in the pacific time). Ordered the grilled chicken salad and it was alright. They are really good with the grill but the salad dressing didn't hit the mark for me, wasn't tasty even though the vegetables were fresh. Needed a better sauce. For my co-worker he ordered the burger, it looked really good when they served it but after he started eating it, the bottom part fell apart and it was really messy. He did say it was really good. read more

Slow to get going but once the dinner was moving the food was outstanding. The Char Bar had a wonderful selection of meets and cheeses and the wine selection, though small, was on point. We started with the Shashito Peppers, ask for sea salt. After this our entrees arrived with a side of blistered and braised Brussels sprouts that made our mouths salivate to ultimate proportions. A tomahawk Pork Chop and a baseball perfectly cooked Beef Tenderloin were given our full attention. The rustic fire taste of root vegetables with fire roasted kale and a kale pesto made the plates shine. With service being the only reason for not giving the final star, it's definitely worth a trip for all Dallas locals and anyone venturing to our fare city. Which by the way, is cited as the best bang for you buck major city in the USA! read more

We had NYE dinner here. Came in expecting an oyster bar and tapas NYE special dinner, but to our disappointment, they decided not to offer this fare. However, the manager immediately came over and talked to us and explained why. He apologized and comped our drinks! Service was great! We ended up ordering the sea bass, flat iron steak, and scallops. The food is very fresh and delicious, nice sized portions, not too small and not too big. 85% of their menu is Farm to Fire concept. Very flavorful with nice presentation. Prices are reasonable, and they offer a wide range of fresh foods, including what looked like a great lunch menu. The hotel/restaurant offers complimentary valet with validation. This is a nice gem of a restaurant located in the Renaissance Hotel in Dallas. Will definitely be back! read more

So many hotel restaurants take advantage of a captive audience and charge exorbitant prices for poorly executed dishes. Asador refreshingly bucks the trend. I chose three small plates... veggies cassolet, brussels sprouts, and steak tartare. The roasted veggies were perfect... topped with a chimchuri sauce. The tartar was served with an egg salad and sliced bread... a great take on steak an eggs. If you've always hated Brussels sprouts, you have to challenge yourself and the sprouts at Asador. They are buttery good without any bitterness and served with chunks of bacon. Delectable. Service was good. Prices were reasonable. I'm a fan. read more

The presentation and the decoration is better than the food itself. The good part is the salad dressing was tasty. The bad part, chicken cold and too dry, bread drenched in butter, grilled vegetable half done (sweet potato burnt and bitter on the outside, crunch inside), bacon mac&cheese too salty. The breakfast buffet is much better though. I enjoyed the omlete and the oatmeal. The sausages were very good too. read more

Thank you again yelp for an amazing find! In town for business staying in the market center area and needed a place for dinner. Wonderfully relaxed atmosphere, amazing service! Allison, our waitress was wonderful. The food was incredible! We had the tenderloin, a flat iron and a pork chop. All were delicious. The side of Brussels sprouts...yummy! The bread rolls were to die for! Hot, crusty...like biting into air! All around 5 star meal...and yes, in a hotel! read more

Nice redo of the Lobby resto. Chef Brad Phillips has done good work on ingredients and food prep. I unfortunately ate at the bar where the bartender has no idea how to set a place. Yes the fork goes on the left and the knife goes on the right! It matters at these prices. Staff weakness aside the food here is very good. I had a steak the first night and a cheese board the second night. Good crowd good wine selection. Try it you will like it. read more

I recently stayed at the Renaissance hotel and this is the restaurant located in the hotel. It is very nicely done - great decor. In addition to the dining area there is a bar in the back of the restaurant. They had a nice IPA on tap and I had that ,some mussels and a jar of home-made pickles. It was all excellent. The pickles were in a habanero vinegar which made them sweet and spicy. It was a great start and was presented in a mason jar. I will upload a photo. I ordered the mussels because the night before I sat at the bar and a guy was raving about them. They were excellent and full of flavor. They came with bread which I soaked in the juices. I cant comment on the main entrees, but if the apps are an indication then this place is good. I overhead the bartender talking about their new chef from New Zealand or maybe it was South Africa (I think). My take-away was that they were proud of him and that he has a passion for food. read more

While on vacation in the area, we had a taste for steaks and something near the hotel. Doing some research, this placed popped as a place that served steak. Drove over there in the early evening, walking into the hotel and restaurant, noticed that the place was very nice looking. We were seated right away and handed menus, but upon looking at the menus, no steak was to be found. The server who was assigned to our table was new and in training, so she was assisted by a more experienced server. Found out that we were handed lunch menus, but they said it was close enough to dinner to get the dinner menus, which had steaks. Made a couple of requests to our meal and all were met as ordered. The steak was delicious as were the other items. The servers made several visits to our table to make sure things were going well. Will repeat the next time in the area. read more

Wow, and I stay at Marriott properties 70 nights a year and never eat hotel.... Till now!! Beer great selection. Cook vibe. Awesome appetizers grilled cheese is phenomenal. Steak was killer and potatoes to die for. Great wine. Awesome service. A real nice place. Not too pricey. We will eat there every time we go. Nice could use a little better selection of Australian wines and California cabs and Zinfandels. Awesome. Keep this chef!!!! read more

Great little cafe/bar nestled in the Renaissance. Peaceful place, good for conversation. I ordered the Chipotle Chicken Skewers from the Appetizers. It was very delicious. Top 3 best hotel restaurant experiences we have had! The food, the service and the atmosphere were wonderful. I can't say enough about the food, there were 7 of us in our party and everyone loved their meals. We ate here twice over the weekend and I must say that the breakfast buffet was good (pretty expensive) but the dinner was AMAZING. We were not expecting to have this kind of experience at our hotel this past weekend and was so pleasantly surprised when we did. Thank you Asador for your kindness and wonderful time. read more

When your corporate account allows you $20 per meal there's not much you can do except to order an appetizer or two here . Standard hotel fare... absolutely nothing special Located in the Renaissance Dallas Hotel, Asador touts itself as a "Modern Farm to Fire" restaurant. Based on this, I was expecting better than the usual hotel lobby restaurant. While the physical space is attractive, the food is rather average. To start, I ordered the Granja chopped salad. It was a little on the skimpy side but did have decent lettuce, overly spicy bacon, olives, cucumber, radish, and egg. The real problem was the ranch dressing; it was profoundly lemony and runny. Not the kind of creamy ranch that you would expect down in Texas. For my entree, I had the wood roast flat iron steak. The meat was good quality, cooked right, and well flavored. It came with au gratin potatoes stuffed into a hollowed out onion. The onion was kind of small and there was not much potato inside. I felt kind of hungry after eating two rolls, the smallish salad, and the steak with a skimpy side of potatoes. I did not try my luck with dessert because nothing about my meal so far suggested it was going to be a special experience. Overall, Asador is just a standard fare hotel restaurant with a fancy name. If you are stuck with no where else to go, Asador is ok. If you can go elsewhere, you should be able to get a better meal. read more

Wow, nice find for a hotel restaurant. Calm, quiet and interesting menu here. It's not five-star dining but is a very nice departure from the hotel hamburger in Clubhouse sandwich thing. Nice breakfast buffet or order off the menu, the Acai bowl is really yummy. I've stayed at the Renaissance several times for work, and the food here is top notch. I normally wouldn't rec a hotel restaurant, but I'd totally go here on a date. Breakfast: 2 fried eggs over grilled asparagus with house made salsa, bacon bits and parm. Fresh green juice. Do it. Dinner: PORK CHOP. the juiciest, most flavorful pork chop to ever cross mah lips. Black rice grits, Swiss chard, wax beans, and bacon lardons that resembled a pair of dice on the craps table in Vegas. Daaaaaang, son. Bonus: charcuterie bar. Yes. read more

This restaurant is inside the Renaissance Dallas hotel. I've read complaints about how expensive it is, but in reality the prices are similar to what you would find in a nice steakhouse. During my stay here I got the Wagyu burger, which was amazing. I also got the filet mignonette which was exceptional. Perhaps the best part of that dish is an au gratin stuffed sweet onion. I highly recommend this restaurant even if you're not staying here. They do get overwhelmed with the crowd sometimes, so be prepared for some slow service if there is an ongoing conference at the hotel. read more

I tend to stay away from eating in hotels but Asador has changed my mind! With a farm to table approach, Asador serves up a seasonal menu that is always better than expected. I have been several times for both lunch and dinner and each meal just gets better than the last. The chefs are extremely creative and are not afraid to play with different flavors that may be out of the norm. They always have surprisingly wonderful soups and the desserts are must. The only thing I would change is the service, it is so slow and overall a total bummer. However, where the service lacks the food makes up for it. Also - do not miss the craft cocktails. Tyler creates some outrageously delicious drinks that you will not get anywhere else GUARANTEED. read more

Words cannot describe how bad the service is at this restaurant. I asked the waiter since you're a tequila bar, what kind of tequila are you known for??, then he recommends the most expensive tequila..but every bar has that tequila. I did buy a round of tequila shots for my friends but little did I know I got charged to get them dressed (lime n salt). I got charged $36 for lime n salt...seriously?!?! The wait staff at this place is all about getting you to spend as much as possible to get a bigger tip. I was with a large party, so he knew he was getting 20%, so he was just trying to pump up the bill. At the end of our dinner service, it took them almost an hour to get us our bill. The manager (Max) stood in the corner looking at us and didn't come over to apologize or anything. Apparently this restaurant does not know what customer service is all about. Food: it's ehhh..not worth coming back. More than 3/4 of the pictures are not even on the menu. Total disappointment when we got there. read more

Service was slow and food was not memorable. Portions were unbelievably small too. For a restaurant in a hotel, there is just no knowing what to expect, but usually, food should be pretty good. This time, it wasn't good. Ambience is not intimate enough and very open to the lobby. You also have to walk a bit to get to a close restroom. Food didn't really seem quite farm to table either. Albeit, the drinks were probably the best part. read more

Asador is the hotel restaurant for the Renaissance Hotel. Ambience is nice, good lighting, very polite waitstaff. Seating is well-spaced and comfortable. I had the flatiron steak, it was cooked rare, as I requested. Liked it! The au gratin potatoes inside of the onion skin left something to be desired. Nothing unique there in flavor. I wouldnt choosw it first if there were other options close by, but its just fine if youre looking to eat close to your room! read more

Asador was really good! I was there for a workshop being held in the hotel and I did not want to leave the premises for lunch on that first day. Asador had really great fish tacos for a fairly reasonable price. The fries that came with it were good, although not such a huge portion (and they did not naturally offer ketchup). All in all good food and I avoided the whole mad dash to get off-premises and back on before the lunch break was over. read more

Pros: - Great beer by the bottle list. - Good wine by the glass/bottle list (and actually reasonable prices, even for in-hotel restaurant). - Interesting cocktails (didn't try them though) - Really good service (both at the bar and at the tables) - Don't have to leave the hotel - Open late Cons: - Food should be better than it is. The menu makes everything sound great but I had 3 meals here over the course of 4 days and found them all to be missing the mark just ever so slightly. - Only choice other than room service. - Not many beers on tap. Overall - still a viable option if you are staying at the hotel and don't have a car and don't want to take a taxi (since for the most part there is nothing within walking distance of the hotel) just don't think I'd make a trip to the hotel just to eat here though. read more

So I read a review by a pilot who had his best steak ever....not the case for me. It was flavorful, cooked to perfection, but not melt in your mouth and not worth $50!! Seriously! I had Brussels sprouts which were good but super rich and super salty. As far as service goes, I sat 5-10 min with an empty glass of wine, but then he poured me almost 2 in apology...,so who can complain about that? Is that good service? My server was nice, but not attentive or engaging. I'm on the fence but likely would not recommend or return- boo read more

We went to Asador for the "Mother's Day Brunch" offered at the Renaissance Hotel on Stemmons Freeway. First off, there was no signage anywhere. The valet took pity and pointed us to a set of escalators leading to . . . ball rooms. I finally walked over to two women located a good distance from the escalators to ask if they knew where the brunch was being held? The woman behind the podium looked shocked and said, "Oh yeah, I can take your name." She then handed a slip of paper to another woman who didn't say one word and took us to a set of elevators. She pointed at a table for (6), there were (3) of us, and walked away. And, then the wait began. Finally, someone ambled over with water and that was it. This was more like hide'n seek, than a celebratory brunch. The staff were not trained at all and there was a language barrier with every single person sent to wait on tables. I felt badly for them because no one had taken the time to even train anyone on where to get coffee, spoons, sugar, mimosas (there were three offerings), but again, no one was trained or bothered to show the staff what was being served. The food was good, but at that point, it's frustrating to go to a brunch touted with such fancy marketing, only to find out that there's a lot of management standing around, whilst the customers have steam coming out of their ears. The seating was awkward and cheap looking, and there was one waitperson that we tried to ask for more water who literally took her ear buds out to see what we wanted, only to walk away because she didn't understand what we wanted! (which was water). Someone from management did approach our table, but at that point, it was a lost cause to try and explain that brunch shouldn't be work for the customer. We got our parking validated . . . OH WAIT, no one bothered to tell the shocked lady from the podium that there's a special sticker that should be applied. So, there we were in the rain trying to get the gate to go up, but we'd been given the wrong validation. In all, a ridiculous, overpriced and disappointing experience. PRICE: $100 plus tip, for an omelette, mimosa, and cup of coffee . . . AVOID read more

Visited Asador for Restaurant week. Food was clean, light, fresh, and well seasoned/prepared. Very good fried chili donuts for dessert. Their Spanish/Mexican inspired components are among the best variations I've had (i.e. tomatillo salsa, etc...). The environment was rather nice but still casual. Service was attentive without being overbearing. The normal menu is bright, flavorful, and very fresh. Lots of potential. I believe they can grow and create a good name/following here in Dallas. The location and lack of marketing for the restaurant are its weak points. Otherwise it warrants a visit and is a good place to chill and grab a few drinks. read more
