Their Easter buffet is the best-kept secret in Dallas. We had reservations at 11:30 and it was by no means full. Which is a surprise, as the $30 price was quite reasonable for a buffet, there were $5 unlimited mimosas, the food was delicious and the service was impeccable. The staff waited on us hand and foot, with constant refills of coffee and drinks. Everything on the buffet was outstanding and very fresh, often with local ingredients. There is not as much variety as the "big" Easter buffets but I would rather have a smaller selection, impeccably chosen, than a huge crowded buffet that is not such high quality. (And it's not like you can eat everything on a buffet anyway!) There was a cheese / meat bar, some cold salad choices, made to order omelet, carvery, hot plates, and dessert of course. Special standouts were the mahi mahi in a delightful creamy sauce - and the waffle - light, crispy, and with a fun and interesting variety of toppings. The Renaissance is a special treat - somehow the lobby gives you a cozy ambiance - and the decor is modern yet warm. It didn't really feel "hotel-like" at all, more like a soft and comfortable little bistro. Staying at the hotel so it was easy to eat here. This is actually my third meal here in two days. Dinner last night was good. We got guac to start- the guac was great but the chips tasted stale. I don't think they were but they weren't my favorite. Kind of thick pita like My coworkers got the burger for main which looked delicious. I order a chicken dish, which was actually very good. It was very rich. We got side of Brussel sports- those are great! Also very rich. The drinks were good too Lunch I got the Cobb salad- added grilled chicken- this was really good!! DFW Restaurant Week is a great way to try places that you wouldn't normally have on your radar. A place like Asador is no place for a pauper like myself, but DFWRW makes it possible. I do wish, however, I had chosen somewhere else. All the research suggested "date night," with lovely ambiance, low lights, and a cozy vibe, so we figured it would be a nice night out. We were wrong. There was a vaping convention going on, so the place was full of groups that might have done better at a pub - food, alcohol, and noise-wise. Just beware that this is attached to the hotel, and there is no reason to expect it will be a quiet or classy evening. We ended up using the RW menu for one person, and creating our own RW menu from the actual menu for the other. It was actually less expensive for me to pick the app, entree, and dessert I actually wanted from the regular menu...go fig. We had the beef tartar, wild boar ribs, and warm chocolate brownie, and the wings, flatiron steak, and banana creme brulee. And then it went downhill. The tartar was very good, and the wings were just okay. But then, the kitchen vents for the wood-fired oven broke, and the whole place filled with smoke. There are high ceilings, but no fans, so there was no circulation. If I wanted to smell like a grill, I would have used my grill at home. My hair and clothing smelled awful, and even the water started to taste a little smoky. Because of this, they had to get rid of all the wood in the oven, and a full hour passed between finishing our apps and receiving our entrees. The boar ribs were cold, and my steak was overcooked. Never in my life have I thought to ask for "no cilantro" on my steak, but it was covered in it, in some sort of garlicky sauce. I could barely eat it. Dessert was not good. Bananas don't really belong in creme brulee, but it was more like a vanilla pudding anyway. The brownie was SO hard, that we were using a steak knife to cut it (or stab it apart), and it definitely wasn't warm. The service from one person was great, but I think she might have been a manager and we only spoke to her at the beginning of the night for about three minutes, and our actual server was pretty MIA and not all that good. It was definitely not busy, and I couldn't understand why things were taking so long, or why our sever kept disappearing. . Although, we didn't stay there, the restaurant offered validated valet service which we were super happy about! The filet mignon was cooked to perfection and the Brussels sprouts were on point! Ok, so disclaimer: The staff was awesome, the gentleman who took my order and the manager were very respectful and accommodating. I don't have one negative comment regarding the staff. Excellent. To the food. I understand we are in Dallas, I understand it's a hotel but $30 for a chicken sandwich and fries? Really? Ok fine, no biggie, it's an a la carte style restaurant, I get it. I expected a crispy thigh, with crisp veggies and a nice sauce. What I got, a bun that was way too big for the chicken thigh that was over cooked and completely drenched in a sweet style sauce. Wilted red cabbage on top, with arugula on the bottom. Any chef should know that arugula has a pepper type flavor which did not mix well with the cabbage and the sweet chicken. Not to mention, arugula wilts under heat and can get quite stringy making it difficult to chew. I ended up scrapping half the bun, taking the wilted veggies off. What can you do better: The cabbage and the arugula should be removed from this sandwich. Don't reinvent the chicken sandwich wheel. There's nothing wrong with a brioche bun, Cole slaw or pickles, but not both. Just put a twist on it, don't remake it. Oh and I've got nothing wrong with an a la carte style restaurant, but don't charge me more ", then cut a corner to save a buck for you. If the sandwich is a la carte and the fries are a la carte, put them in separate containers. You are taking a la carte money from your customers so put that back in their packaging. $35 for a crappy sandwich with fries and no drink does not sit well. Especially after I asked what does the sandwich come with, to which I was quickly answered, NOTHING. I get it. But give me the extra container just off of principle. What a beautiful restaurant...the food is really good, the service was impeccable, and the concept is unique. It's described as "farm to flame" American-style cuisine with a Latin flare. They serve dishes and drinks with only fresh, in-season ingredients and you can definitely taste the difference. Try their honeydew margarita! So good. It was fresh-squeezed just that day...no mixers here! And their Tortilla Soup in pretty little shot glasses...so inventive and artfully served. Their "Tequila Bar" is the focal point of the restaurant and serves 100 different boutique tequilas, along with a full bar selection, as well as beer and wine. Great burger with excellent flavor. The fries came with a Spicey ketchup that is house made. Mine seemed very runny but I could taste the peppery potential. Just wanted more to stick to the fries. My server was very friendly and arrived with a smile each time. A manager came by once to check on me and the food. Gotta give props for the attentiveness. Had birthday dinner here with wife and group of friends on a Saturday. I liked the decor and the place was full of much older patrons (50+). Don't expect to come here to pick up any young hotties on a Saturday, they are elsewhere. For appetizer I tried the shrimp, wings and cheese board. Best of the three would be the cheese board with pate. Would have liked the pate to be more grainy. Ran out of bread before the cheese and pate. NEED MORE BREAD. The shrimp was OK, nothing special. The wings tasted, ehhh .. Where was the flavor? For the entree I had the Kansas steak medium rare. The steak was cooked correctly, but the flavor was missing. Had to get me some Tabasco to top it off. I liked the potato squares that came with the steak , they were delicious. Had a side of Mac and cheese and it was good. I liked that they threw in some mini ham squares. As for drinks, I had a glass of wine and a shot of tequila. As some have stated, to get your shot dressed, it will cost you and extra $2 for salt and a dried up lime. WTF ! What establishment does this? Asador , that's who! And as the service goes, good luck getting what you order in a timely manner. I usually don't write reviews, however the experience I had at this restaurant needs to be heard. I was with a group of friends (around 15 people) for a birthday. I totally understand how hard it is when there is that many people, but we didn't order/need anything from out of the norm. Customer Service: a friend ordered a round of shots for the table (13 shots), but only got 12. He told the waiter to bring out the shot that was not delivered. At the end of the night he ended up charging for 14 shots. When he was confronted with the extra charge for the shot, he argued that the shot was brought out. Blah...blah...blah... Keep in mind that the bill came out to be approx $2K. WTF is another $10?! Why would we try to cheat the restaurant for $10?! On top of this, he charged an extra $2/shot to dress the drink with salt and lime. The extra $2/shot would not have been a problem if this was told during the order of the shots. I don't remember the name of the waiter that waited on us but the manager's name is Max. I feel like the waiter knew he was getting tipped (guaranteed 20% of the total bill), so he did what he could to increase the bill. Everyone was finally ready to pay the bill. Come to find out they were having issues with the "new system" they got 5 days ago. We were all frustrated because we've argued over a stupid shot and now waiting at least 45 mins to get our bill. The manager Max was just standing there hoping a miracle will happen. As a manager I feel he should have done everything in his power to make things go smoothly, but instead he did nothing. He didn't even come to our table to ask us what was wrong or what he could do to help. My overall experience was horrible. When I go to a restaurant paying this type of money I want a GREAT experience and GREAT customer service. I will def not go back or refer anyone to this place. BTW ... We were seated in front of the open kitchen. So it was kind if nice seeing all the chefs faces and the food coming out of the service window. Food: 1.5 star We started off with a few appetizers. Honestly, the best thing I enjoyed was the cheese board. Their pâté was really good, but how can you go wrong with cheese,pâté and bread. We also had the wings, nothing too special about them(save your money & get something else). Shrimp was huge and the sauce it was cooked it was pretty tasty. For dinner I shared the Kansas steak with hubby due to them not having the scallop dish that I saw on yelp, on the menu. There wasn't anything else pleasing that I wanted to try. The steak was cooked perfect, but needed a little more seasoning. Love the fact that the steak was top with an fried egg. So the runny yolk on the steak made it pretty tasty. Also ordered the Mac and chz, which was very cheesy but needed a little more salt. One of the guest next to me ordered the burger and said it was pretty good. There was a sunny side up egg on top and the bun went very well together with the meat. So for the food and the pricy it wasn't too bad. Service:1 star, As a server myself I kind of felted bad that it took the checks a long time to be handed out. Due to it was a large party. But then on the other hand think they should of been more organized with the fact that there was 2 waitess ,serving our table of 15 and we were there only table. Took forever for the server to give me my soda, if we didn't have asked for it. I think I would of never got it. WARNING!!!!!!! When you order a shot of tequila ( which thats all they have) they charge extra $2 to have it dressed (salt n lime) we found this out when the bill come so it total up $30 ex on our tab for rim salt and a slice of lime. That is soooo stupid. I wouldn't be complaning but the server never mentioned that to us and just not went ahead and ring it up behind our backs. Most of the guest didnt even want it. So that was a waste of money. He knew what he was doing, so that the tab could be higher, for a larger tip. Knowing that the tabs was already going to get 20%tip added automatically. Then on top of that shorted us a shot but was agreeing that he give it to us. Dude we were already spending $2k and you have the nerves to be tripping over a one $10 shot. Are you serious!!!! The leak of customer service was not there. Even with 2 servers, they were doing half the job as if there was one server. Also the girls that sit next to me order a side of Brussels spouts and never got it. Until they were almost done with their meal and had to ask the server for it. When asked where was it he agured again that he brought it out. Not knowing that another guest had order one too. When it did come out, that thing was so black and brunt. Next the tickets took about 45mins to be handed out. When waiting and waiting and when we asked for it was told that they got a new computer system about 5 days ago. That should of given the wait staff pretty of time to learn how to work it. From the beginning they should of asked who was going to be on who's tab. That would of made things run smoother. As a server I understand how serving a large party can be. But honstly we didn't ask for anything ( just the things we had ordered) or was being difficult at all. So I don't understand why the service wasn't up to par. Being that we were their only table. For a restaurant like this I would of expected more and from the manager. He knew what the issues where and never once come to our table to speak to us or apologize. He stood there in the corner like a scared dog. So overall this place was okay. If you come with just one other person for dinner. I think the service would of been much better, cuz the fact that they know they have to work for your tip. I'm from out of town staying at the hotel Asador is in so I've been twice in a week. And for good reason. Everything was so good!! First time I got chips and traditional guac and it was awesome. For dinner a friend and I split the tomato sandwich and that was also good. It wasn't bland and the pesto sauce they added was just right. My all time favorite thing is the banana creme brûlée. It's phenomenal. I also had the Brussels sprouts and they were amazing. The decor is nice and the service is great. Treat yourself. Go to Asador. read more

This place is horrible, should have know from the lack of reviews. Went there for my birthday celebration with 18 ppl. Had the worse service ever, we spend over $2K in food and drinks. First off when we got there the waiter didn't even show up to ask us what drinks we wanted till 20 minutes after sitting down. Then upon receiving our bill the waiter charge us for 14 shots but we only had 13 so we told him about it and he argue with us over one dam shot. He could have just comp that one shot after we did spend over $2K. We just told him to forget about it. On top of that they too over 45 minutes to get the taps out to all our guest because they were having issues with thei system. We were staying at the Renaissance and didn't want to go exploring for restaurants so we decided to try Asador. We had a great time. Though it's near the lobby area, it was very quite. We shared a charcuterie with the Wisconsin Cheddar, Brie, Salami and Duck.Loved the toasted bread that accompanied it. Every thing on the board was great! We also shared the ribs with kimchi sauce and a side of the Mac and Cheese with the thick cuts of bacon. The macaroni and cheese was creamy and delicious! This place is absurdly good for hotel food. I, like most people writing these reviews, stay at hotels frequently. I usually like to venture out and eat at some of the top spots of whatever city I'm in but my flight got in late and I was starving...so thankful I did because I don't think I would have found anything better. I had the half chicken with chorizo grits and it had so many complimenting, complex flavors. I also had a great glass of cab (most places have house and a shelf up but they had quite a few options). He was humble, and took his criticism to heart. I had a suggestion about another menu item, and he seemed to take my suggestion to heart.
