Tender and juicy pastrami stacked high, perfect amount of tang from the sauerkraut, nice baseline depth of flavor from the thousand island, and that delicious, crunchy buttered marble rye bread. It's not that I disliked it... But the $10 I paid for a New Yorker on sourdough (because they were out of Italian roll) was a complete waste. The ingredients were fresh but I could have saved the money and made myself a sandwich at home for a fraction of the price. Nothing unique or original about this place. Lovely little deli tucked away just off Route 66. Seating for maybe 16-18 inside, but outdoor tables too. We were a larger group, food came out quickly and the gal behind the counter was delightful, on top of refilling drinks and very friendly. I love this deli, their French dip sandwiches are the best I've ever tasted. But I am always disappointed when I come to eat here because 1 out of 3 times they are closed for some odd reason. This is by far the best sandwich shop in town! I normally order the meatball sandwich and I don't even like meatball sandwiches! That's how good it is. I also love their Southwest Chief Salad. It has so much flavor and they even give you a side of bread with it. The only downside is their limited hours. Make sure you head over for lunch or an early dinner. read more

So after my first experience here I noticed a few things, the pistachio gellatoe is wonderful tasting but I'm not sure why they have lamps on their menu, I'm not sure why a deli would sell lamps but hey I'm sold, who doesn't love a good lamp, anyways the service was good I learned a lot about the local culture here and background story that follows the infamous choco stick kebab. Best sanwiches in Flagstaff!! I've been here many times now and the people and service are always excellent but more importantly there are so many craveable sanwiches! My favorites are the Buffalo Chicken and the New Yorker but my boyfriend's is the Beefy Blue. You have to try the lemon shortbread cookies if they have them too ... awesone treat to finish your meal. We traveled as a team to Flagstaff recently for a competition, and choose The Aspen Deli to provide all of our lunches for the 3 days of competition. It was a fantastic experience for the entire team. Our team enjoyed the sandwich and salad selections and we had a lot of comments about how delicious they were. For a big team, it was great that The Aspen Deli labeled each sandwich with the individual's name. That made handing them out really easy and is much appreciated. I went to the aspen deli because I wanted a sandwich, I've been here once before and there're food was FIRE!!! I got the pastrami melt that time and was not disappointed. I probably mouth orgasmed like 70 times. So I went today and I couldn't decide between that and the hot pastrami, which are pretty damn similar but very different if ya feel me. Afraid of change, I went with what I already had; the pastrami melt. Took it to go. Got home. IT THE HOT PASTRAMI MY DUDE!!! I was at least confused because that's not what I ordered. I ate it anyway and it was still heckling bomb. So I'm pretty sure everyone that works there is a MIND READER and wants me to experience the great unknown. I was very pleased and yeah they make good sandwiches. I think yelp reviews are just for pissed off white people but I got the wrong thing and I was still incredibly satisfied. We stumbled upon this deli as we were strolling through the historic district of Flagstaff and I'm so glad we found it. First of all, the food is amazing. All the deli meat is top quality. My wife and I decided to split a couple items because there was too many good things to choose from. I got an antipasta salad and she got a rueben. The salad was enormous and by far one of the best antipasta salads I have ever had. The rueben was equally as good. My mom ordered a meatball sandwich and my father ordered a turkey sandwich on marble rye. Seriously, both sandwiches were enormous and tasted equally as good as they looked. The price for everything was super cheap as well. It's hard to find a great meal like this for the price we paid. If we are ever back in Flagstaff, we will definitely be stopping here for a meal....also, the staff was beyond friendly and gave great service. I found this local sandwich shop by accident in the historic downtown area. I have to say what a hidden gem this place is. The staff was friendly and the food was excellent, it was well worth the short wait for fresh food. I opted for the meatball sub, one of my favorites. The portion size was generous, the meatballs were perfectly seasoned, as was the marinara with lots of melty cheese on top. Mmmm melty cheese!!! That was ridiculous! We ordered two sandwiches to go at 1:05pm and it took until 1:45pm to exit the door with sandwiches in hand. While waiting for the order I overheard about two other recent orders that had mistakes - one had a sandwich missing, the other received a wrong sandwich. Visiting from out of town and all of us enjoyed our sandwiches. Noticed the chips, chocolate milk , and yummy brownies had just a few ingredients without all the added junk. Also, they have great vegetarian and gluten free options which makes it really easy to bring friends with complicated diets.
