My husband and I found ourselves in Orange County and we came across Atoyubu. I have never had Yubu before, but these looked so delicious I had to try them! First off, there is a parking lot, yay! I can see how it might get packed depending on when you go, but there seemed to be a decent amount of parking nearby as well. You order on an iPad when you arrive. One of the gentlemen behind the counter greeted me and asked if it was my first time. He ran me through the process and even made recommendations. I ordered the Fresh Salmon and the Lemon Pepper Salmon to try. I noticed that a few of the Yubu were sold out, but that didn't bother me since there were lots of options they still had in stock. I only had to wait around 5 minutes for my Yubu. The restaurant itself is smaller on the inside, but it's clean and feels very cozy. The salmon was top tier, the rice was cooked perfectly, and the flavors were amazing. If I lived in OC, I could see myself coming back here quite a lot. Everything tasted fine for the most part, but shortly after dinner, on the way home, I felt nauseous. I don't know what specifically gave me food poisoning but I suspect it has to be either the butter crab or the eel as my friend felt fine with the three they got that were similar to some of my order. The food came out pretty fast, but the establishment only has one trash can and it was completely filled. My friend tried the garlic butter crab on top of what I ordered. He said it was good but not sure if he would order again due to the imitation crab. That was the main reason I chose not to order it. When we went it was Saturday mid afternoon and it wasn't too busy. The staff was kind and helpful explaining the menu since it was our first time. We got the salmon, bulgogi, and spicy tuna. Overall I thought they were pretty good and tasty. It's a more modern take on a traditional inari, which I've always loved since I was a kid. The parking lot is shared with other businesses and was already full when I arrived. For ordering, they have a single self service kiosk right at the counter. There were text and images that helped made it easy to decide what to order. Definitely recommend looking at the menu before arriving. You can opt to provide your phone number, which will notify you when your order is ready. All utensils were packed neatly in the to-go bag, which was great! I decided to get (1) Fresh Salmon, (1) Spicy Tuna, and (1) Grilled Eel for myself. I also ordered a (1) Myungran Crab and (1) Fresh Ginger Tuna for my friends. Saw Atoyubu a few times on IG and stopped by one evening after I thought the hype died down. It didn't. The parking lot was full but I ended up parking on a side street pretty easily. The place itself was also packed, with more people lining up after me. I thought the ordering was interesting since there's a giant screen for you to place your order and then a staff member there to assist in case of anything. I didn't arrive too late into the dinner hours but at the time I placed my order, 2 items were already sold out and by the time I received my order, another 3 items were out. Definitely arrive early if you're interested in the seafood items particularly. I got the two different crab ones and the bulgolgi. All 3 tasted great and were very flavorful. Those were enough to fill me up but if you have a large appetite, you'll find yourself spending quite a bit at this establishment. $5 seems a bit steep but they do fill up the tofu a lot and the rice to toppings ratio isn't bad. Does this place really need another review? They've been poppin all over Tik Tok and IG but I'm happy to report, this one is actually worth the hype! It's a small shop, limited seating and even more limited parking. They have some raw and non raw options, two of which are beef or pork for our non fish eating friends. You order at the counter, but on a tablet, while an employee stands in front of you and watches you... little weird lol They recommend 2-3 are good per person but if you have a larger appetite, go with at least 4-5 minimum. Each order comes with a seasoned tofu skin pocket that is lightly sweet and tangy, stuffed with rice, and then topped with a generous helping of your fish/meat of choice. They're beautifully presented and equally as delicious. Beware, their spicy is actually kinda spicy. I believe the employee said its equivalent to a serrano spice. The wait time is fairly short and if you order to go, you get the cutest branded paper bag. While you wait, they do have a water machine in the back, as well as all the utensils, pickled ginger, soy sauce and wasabi that you need along the front counter. I tried the fresh salmon, spicy tuna, spicy pork, lemon pepper salmon and myungran roe. They were all good but I think the fresh salmon was my favorite. The spicy tuna tasted like they mixed it with buldak sauce.. so not bad but not great. Spicy though!! The lemon pepper salmon is torched, which I love, but I wish it was a bit more creamy or saucy. The spicy pork bulgogi, tastes exactly how it sounds, so it's a solid non fish option. I liked the myungran roe but if you're not big on imitation crab or california roll type sushi, just skip this! Each of these are about $5 so I think for the quality, portion, and taste, this is fair! Plus as a bonus, you get a meal that's IG worthy!
