Saw an ad about these guys on Instagram, and immediately called and made an appointment. I'm a first time home buyer so I'm still learning about home maintenance, and I found out that I needed to get my AC tuned up at least twice a year to eliminate further damage on my unit. Before Jose and John came to my house, they gave me a call regarding their arrival time, which gave me time to prepare for this visit. They informed me about my unit and how long it has been since I bought the house since I had no prior knowledge of it. I was happy to find out that my unit is fairly new (2018), and that my furnace and vents are also the same year as my outside unit. When they checked my attic, they also recommended better insulation as it barely had any right now, which is causing my house to not maintain the cold air inside. Money is tight right now and I was happy that they were able to help me with financing to get my insulation started and save me more money in the long run. I immediately joined the "Cool Plan," which was affordable at a price of $9.99/month. Tune up was serviced on Aug. 24, 2024 and they did an amazing job overall! Excellent local professionals! As every Sacramento summer threatens, I finally was the victim of another heatwave. My AC stopped working right during the 4th of July heatwave. I reached out to a few companies and Atticman responded quickly with an appointment. Trevor was our rep that first came out during the heatwave. He took a look and confirmed our suspicions about what went wrong (capacitor). He was very upfront with the time and cost of everything and was very patient and kind in helping us understand our unit and common failures. Unfortunately, once the capacitor was replaced, we found out it was the fan motor that was actually causing the problems. They ordered the part and scheduled the next service to get that fixed. We then had Derrick come out to fix the fan motor. Once a new capacitor and the fan motor were in, then the circuit blew. Off to the hardware store to get a replacement after calculating the costs, he was back to the house and on the job. Derrick was the kindest, hard-working individual. Everything was up and running perfectly by the time he left. He also generously took the time to explain upgrades, technology, services offered, and advice for when we do have to replace and upgrade our system. His patience and care for what he does was reassuring and gained my instant trust. I also like that the company is a member of our local East Sac Chamber of Commerce. Quoted me $10,000 to replace R8 ducts in a crawl space for 6 registers on a 3 ton system. The past five weeks I've called dozens of times to speak with Trevor or anyone at the company. I saw a cheesy facebook ad that advertised something along the lines of get a free something or the other... the next day I started getting phone calls and of course even though I had given them my information I was still upset... how dare they call me when I gave out my information... I know. I set an appointment and my perception of the company changed when I met the sales consultant Greg, he spoke well and knew exactly what he was talking about. He was straight forward and upfront. I had discussed other options and companies I received and he promised me this would be the best experience. I'm glad I went with my guy and trusted him. They did EXACTLY what they said they would do, EXACTLY in the time frame he promised, and the price remained EXACTLY what I was quoted in the beginning. He helped me make sure it worked with my budget and encouraged me to try and get better rates which I did and they were better. I explored financing options through my personal credit union and they had better financing rates as well. I would 10/10 recommend this company! The team was ultra friendly and professional. Jorge and Luis helped with the insulation in my house and they were super friendly, I have a small dog who barks at people in the window non stop, I went out and asked them if they could stop what they were doing to come in and pet my dog to let him know they were friendly and to help train that people don't always leave if he barks and they dropped what they were doing and came in and calmed my dog down some. For some reason, I can't access my other 1 star review to add onto it. The saga continues with this low quality, poor performing organization. After finally calling and speaking with the owner Mario, I got 100 different excuses as to why we continue to have issues with our HVAC system.... electricians quit, personal issues, etc. While I find him very reasonable and seems to care that his business appears to be in freefall with regards to quality (check all the 1 star recent comments), I needed to get my brand new system fixed so it would pass inspection. Installed in July, no October and they had not fixed it. Mario did set up a new electrician to come up to make sure it met specifications for inspection. When the inspector showed up, he stated that they had to run the new circuit through conduit that would have to be attached to the side of our home for 50-60 feel and there was no way around it. They would have involved filing plans and requesting an architectural review before completion. It would also look awful, reducing the appeal and likely property values of my home. Mario suggested having a new inspector come out and see if they could persuade him to other options. We waited another day and Mario posted an employee outside our home to wait for the inspector. They successfully convinced the inspector to another alternative. The inspector left, the electrician made the fix, and we went about our day. Around 630 that night, I realized the power wasn't working in a couple of rooms in the house, including the master bedroom. No one responded when I called into Atticman and I could not find any tripped breakers etc. Even though it was my birthday, I had to leave the dinner my family was having for me to go to Lowe's to buy extension cords and then run them all over to get power to chargers, clocks etc. Then next day when Mario returned my call, he said it would be a simple fix and scheduled someone to come out and fix it. The lights were back on and everything was fine... Until last night when it was around 46 degrees and my 5 year old came into our room complaining because he was freezing. The thermostat was set at 70 yet it was reading 62 degrees. The heater does not work.... I have called AtticMan now three times (on a Saturday) and they have not responded. I am going to get a more reputable company out to see if they can get the heater running. Get as far away from this company as you possibly can.... read more

Good service and good sales. Mike came out, did a nice job on the quote, reaffirmed the installation, since it was a tricky electrical (came twice). Kobe and his guys came out, took their time, asked relevant questions and installed it correctly. We are very satisfied. Nice work. Just a quick update to my post, Atticman (same work crew) came back the following week to install a brand new A/C/Furnace matched combo in my home. The existing one was over 20 years old and it was slowly and inevitably dying. Preventative maintenance always costs less in the long run, trust me, you get to do it at your time and choosing, rather than waiting for something to die. All that said, Atticman did an exceptional job, as I said above, they took their time, walked through the install thoroughly and with this being my second project with Atticman, my entire home, ADU included has been completely redone. As noted above, Atticman came in at a good cost (for both projects), excellent installation techs and just overall good guys, they are very quick to help, make sure I am happy and that they present a customer friendly attitude. AC was out. Made an appointment for the next week. Came out and assessed problem. Ordered condenser fan motor. Waited 1-1/2 weeks for part to be delivered. Hopefully, tomorrow AC gets fixed. Motor installed. Coolant was low so pumped in some more $$. Tech suspects A frame may be leaking so in goes dye/sealer. So far AC is working and cooling. Monday will be re-inspection day. read more

We had our HVAC unit moved from the ground to our roof and had all new ductwork installed in the attic. Although the crew were efficient and checked in with us during the install, the permit process has been horrible. Post-install they did not contact us to schedule HERS testing or the city inspection. After HERS testing we had to reach out multiple times regarding our permit. They had told us that there was delay due to the city portal system being down, but later that same day they indicated the permit had been issued. When they sent over the information, it was for the permit we had issued two years prior for when we had the new unit installed on the ground to replace our previous one. After we were finally able to get them to submit the correct information for the new permit for moving the unit to the roof and ductwork installation, the city inspector would not sign off until an engineer inspected the roof install. We are now three months post-install, permit issued 11/17/25, and multiple calls and emails to their permit contact Allyssa and still nothing. At one point she had indicated they "found" an engineer who could sign off on the permit but I made it clear that they need to come inspect the work. We have had no response since, just an open permit waiting to be taken care of. We spent $13,000 cash on this install, $1,000 of which we had to pay if we wanted it permitted (although we knew it should not cost that much) and we still do not have our permit signed off. I want to give them the benefit of the doubt, but this is beyond unacceptable. read more

Usually they try not to work weekends but I appreciate that they were able to sympathize and accommodate me! Jake, Trevor and Josh- techs that arrived the day I installed the new AC unit. AMAZING CREW! Respectful, funny and great work ethic (what does that mean? They cared about explain to me as to what was going on, making sure I was aware they needed water turned off and made sure to clean up after themselves !!) Georgia: did not meet her face to face but she is in administration and was so sweet and kind, had wonderful communication with her. My Problem: I purchased my first house in early June and within a few days I noticed my AC wasn't working properly. I called a few places but no call back. Atticman was able to respond quickly and accommodate my situation. Solution: After discussing at length with Mario about what was a better option new AC vs. mini split units I went with the new AC. A few years ago a tech from this company did an inspection on our attic HVAC. He told me that the blower motor was showing some oil on the shaft indicating it was leaking and needed a replacement. He also said the fan cage was in need of cleaning. As I am pretty handy I told him I would do this myself and ordered a new motor. Well I finally got around to replacing the motor and cleaning the fan cage. The attached pictures show what I found. There was no leakage and the fan cage had just a very thin layer of dust it was otherwise free of any debris that would affect performance. Also how you can even see the things he saw without disassembling it was impossible. Frankly this company cannot be trusted and since most homeowners will never see what the tech is telling them they have rely on the honesty of the tech. The techs I'm sure also receive bonuses or a % of any business they can bring in. I'm not sure who you can trust out there but I can tell you these guys are not one of them. read more

Tried to use the heater for the first time yesterday after having Atticman put in a new HVAC system in August. The system didn't heat up. Called and left a message with their totally cool AI receptionist for an appointment today, 11/14/24. Received a phone call first thing in the morning from a live person who scheduled me for an earlier appointment today that the AI rep did. Dustin arrived early and was super friendly and helpful. A ground wire had been mis-wired during the original installation. Dustin found it and fixed it right away. He then spent as much time with me as needed to explain the various settings on the eco-bee thermostat and educated me on the most efficient use of the heat pump to keep my house warm without getting gouged by PG&E. We had Atticman come out to look at our HVAC system. The serviceman was very nice and professional. He found three spots where the ductwork had come loose. He quoted us a little over $2,200 to repair them. Two spots were loose and one had come apart and it was laying on the attic floor. It took about 20 minutes to repair all three locations. It's our fault for agreeing to the work, but we assumed it would take a few hours to fix not just minutes. We feel totally ripped off. read more

Awful company. Awful people. I have been an atticman customer for around 4 years. I have the monthly maintenance plan and everything. I had Jordan from atticman come out for routine maintenance. He spent a long time doing stuff (but also spent some time on his phone). He finally comes in to say that there are "major problems" with the system. He told me that I need a new filter dryer, new capacitor/starter and a hard start kit. He said without these things, the life of the compressor was compromised and may "blow up". Quote was $2900. I was pretty stunned since our AC is only 4 years old and we haven't noticed any problems. I asked to speak with his manager who called me later in the day. The manager (forget his name) also laid it on really thick pushing hard that these were market prices and I needed all this work because "new builds use terrible equipment". I scoffed and told them I'd get a second opinion. Next day I get American Energy to have a look. I just told them to do their regular maintenance and let me know what, if anything they find. Turns out they found some stuff, but it wasn't what atticman did. In fact, they said I needed work BECAUSE of what atticman had done. Apparently, in order to get a faulty pressure reading across the filter, Jordan had loosened a valve on the high side which resulted in a refrigerant leak. So now American Energy had to put in a couple pounds of refrigerant to replace what had been lost due to the "leaking" valve. The one thing that American Energy did agree with was a new starter/capacitor for a few hundred bucks. They also said that $2900 was highway robbery even if I did need a new filter (which I don't). You hear stories about HVAC scams. Well, this is one of them. I had been pretty happy with the atticman guys up til now. But no longer. Going to drop their maintenance plan and go with someone else. As always, when something seems off, go with your gut and get a new quote. I think atticman thought I was complacent and ignorant. They tried to take advantage. Stay vigilant yelpers! read more

After that they gave me an excellent verbal report on the state of my HVAC system and recommendations on what I need to have done, not at all in a sales-y or pushy way which I appreciated. Jose came to analyze my parents' 2 year system that stopped working and was very informative and detailed with his explanations a few weeks ago. He was able to get their replacement scheduled within a few days with Zak and his crew who were able to complete the replacement to get my folks comfortable within two days from the start of the heat wave.
