I recently purchased from Audio Lab an Alpine iLX-207 with the KAC-001 External Accessory Control Module, the iDataLink Maestro module for steering wheel controls and vehicle data, and an Alpine rear view camera for my Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sport. Audio Lab also did the installation at a reasonable price. Service is top notch. Audio Lab has a showroom with several models on display. Their salespeople know their products and will help you find the product that fit your needs. After installation, one of Audio Lab's techs sat down with me in my Jeep and went over all the functions of my new Alpine unit, he also configured my phone to work with the stereo (something I was perfectly capable of doing on my own, but it's nice that they did it for me). The tech also showed me that my original OEM unit was in the back of my Jeep along with all of the original packaging and documentation that came with the new unit and the modules that I purchased. The manager, Sam is really helpful and has a Jeep himself. The service he provides is well beyond what I have experienced with offroad stores such as 4wheelparts. Bottom line, purchase audio components from a store that specializes in car audio, and my experience at Audio Lab suggests that this is the place to turn to in Southern California for car audio! As an aside, Sam can also order and install any electronic accessory, he's not just limited to audio equipment, so I also ordered an SPod relay controller for simplifying installation of accessories such as winches and external light units. Summary: They did a big custom job on my Toyota 4Runner in February 2019 and it was professional from beginning to end. Sam C. and his crew are a rarity amongst audio installers. I would recommend them to anyone. Details: I contacted Sam using the Yelp messaging function. He was responsive and polite. About a month later, I brought my car in to meet Sam, and I was struck by how polite and straightforward he was compared to other local shops I had gone to. I had purchased some of my gear from friends, and Sam didn't have a problem installing it for me. My job entailed a complete Hushmat sound deadening job for my 4Runner, including the door panels, floor, roof, and rear hatch. Following that, I replaced my stock radio with a high end Pioneer navigation radio. Also removed all stock speakers and had them replaced with Morel units. For my 4Runner, component tweeter and midrange units were custom mounted on the dash and reflected off the windshield. The entire system was tied together by an Audison BitOne HD DSP, and powered by a Zapco amp for the front and Rockford Fosgate amps for the sub and all other speakers. Audio Lab also built a rack to enclose my gear in the floor of my trunk. The entire job was completed in a professional manner. I couldn't have asked for a more pleasant experience. I would recommend these guys to anyone. Note about tuning: AudioLab uses an automated tuning system by Audioson and then further tweaks it by ear. That yielded good results. Since I'm an audiophile, I spent a few more weeks tweaking the Audison system at home and it was worth the effort. That last 10% has made the entire system sound phenomenal. read more

WOW! Here's a success story you may not expect. I own a 2009 Bentley Arnage. Some time ago I had the stereo upgraded to the newest Alpine model, which turned out much better than i could have expected. That was about a year ago now. At that time, the door cover to the ashtray compartment in the center console wouldn't stay closed. During the installation then, Paul, fixed the door closure issue. That was huge to me. Some time later, I had the carpets replaced. During that installation, the carpet guy removed the center console. When he replaced the console, the same door over the ashtray compartment would no longer close. The carpet guy couldn't fix it. That stayed that way for months. Then, last week, I happened to come across a car show in Huntington Beach that I wanted to enter. But I didn't know where to get this door fixed, so I called Mr. Cervantes, the owner. Amazingly, he remembered me. That was Saturday. The car show was the next day, Sunday. He said bring the car over and he'd fix it on the spot. I took the car over late Saturday afternoon, and Paul was there, and he also remembered the prior situation. He knew exactly what to do, and went to work. Within 20 minutes, Paul had the console out, fixed the door latching mechanism and replaced the console. Everything was in perfect condition and spotlessly clean. I couldn't be more pleased, relieved and appreciative. Sam wouldn't accept any compensation for this rescue, no matter how I insisted. The next day, Sunday, June 2nd, I entered the car in the Huntington Beach Concours D'Elegance, and it won first place in its class. No matter what you hear and read in the negative reviews, you can't fault this company and its team for an occasional mistake. Things can happen, but it's the recovery from the mistake that matters. If the company culture is formed to do the right thing by its customers, then what matters is how the company responds to mistakes and makes it right by the customer. Just remember, everyone can make a mistake. But, what Sam Cervantes did for me was astonishing. Way beyond what you might expect from an ordinary company in the car stereo business. I went there a few years ago and stereo and speakers were installed and now need new front speakers installed and have been in constant contact with them for several months now to set up time to go in. Last Saturday afternoon I went in & an estimate was written up and I told him I would be there at 7:00 am the next Saturday and he was to call me with price & I called Wednesday and was promised a call back and no call until today and was told he gave my 7:00 appointment to 2 other people!!!!!!! WOW! Professional service, actual experts and honest people. Had a front/rear dashcam installed (Rexing VIP) and was told it would take about 2 hours. Took less time than that (About an 1:15) and the installer sat with me to show me how it all works etc. So when I had a question & he didn't know the answer , he looked it up. No BS'ing, he just said he didn't know the answer but said "lets find out" and then he did. How awesome is that kind of service. The job was done professionally and with clean wiring. I've been taking my cars to Sam for many years now. I think I've had him install major stereo systems in 5 different cars between my wife and I. I have never been disappointed. I decided to rush an installment in my tesla with another company since Sam was busy. That was the worst thing I've ever done. I had to bring my car to Audio Lab and have Paul redo the entire system. I then found out about torn speakers and the dynomat that I paid them for with the other company, was not even installed. That cost me a lot of time and money. I'll never do it again. These guys do quality work. I've been here a few times and have been very happy with the outcome. Recently they added a house RV radio and actually recommend that I didn't update the TV, like i had planned. I really like they was they fabricate trim and have painted little items to make the installation look great. They are also willing to chat on the phone a bit, within reason, if you are serious about an install. Where do I begin.... Well I had an alarm installed on 8-28-20. I was told $600 installed. A bit pricey but the reviews were good and I said OK. Then I was charged more than $600. If you still decide to deal with these people get the quote in writing. After waiting 6 hours for an alarm install I arrived only to find out that the alarm didn't work right. I had to come back the next day. After leaving the next day the alarm still wasn't functioning correctly. Back now the 3rd day in a row. Finally they get the alarm working correctly but they forgot to put all the screws back in the interior panels... Half way home an interior piece fell apart.. For real? This is what I paid almost $700 for..? 4th day back...to get the car put back together. Howbsad and unprofessional. I asked Sam the owner if he could reimburse me half of the installation... I think that is more than fare.... He laughed and said no... He said that he had to pay his installer. The same installer that couldn't make the alarm work for 4 days and didn't put the car back together. Seems like if you aren't spending 5k with them they don't give crap about you.. Their work isn't nearly as clean as other places I have done business. Definitely not worth $350 for install. BE VERY CAREFUL DEALING WITH THIS COMPANY. They are incompetent and will most likely damage your car of forget to put it back together. read more

I had a great experience with Audio Lab. I recently bought a Pioneer head unit for my 2004 4-Runner from a big box store and was looking for an installer who specialized in car audio - rather than going with the big box retailer for the install (and their pretty inflated price once you get past the teaser rate they advertise!). Also toyed with installing myself - but I haven't done it in years and don't have the time, patience or lack of common sense as I did in my younger days to jump right in and go for it, only to screw something up and pay for it later... All which brought me to Audio Lab. I looked at a few vendors on Yelp and found them. They (Sam & Carlos) responded very promptly (within minutes) with a very fair and accurate estimate. When I looked at parts cost alone on doing it myself vs what they quoted + labor it just made sense to have a professional handle it. Well worth the labor in my opinion. They had all the parts, dash kit, harness, module to utilize my factory amp and speakers + they were able to add a backup cam for a very reasonable fee. Since everything was in stock, they scheduled me right away for the next day. Had a morning appointment and was in and out in just a couple hours. Amazingly quick. What I really appreciated was there was no complaints about me buying my deck elsewhere, no attempt to upsell or any pressure to buy anything unnecessary. Just honest recommendations and steering me in the right direction. I was a little worried about the mounting and placement on my back up cam - not knowing what to expect. They showed me where they could place it and it ended up looking very discreet, clean and like a factory option. I was very pleased. After the install Carlos took me out to walk through everything - and gave me a great demo of the headunit and features - more that I got when I bought it at the big box store. It's nice that they go out of their way to demo my new toy even though they didn't sell me the unit. All around I'm very pleased and look forward to returning for some potential speaker upgrades to take full advantage of the new unit. Rather than explain that they don't do that level of upgrade and only do audiophile level stereo system he placated me for a few mins then asked his guy to help me. I went into this store thinking that I probably wasn't going to go with them -- the shop's in Irvine, it looks super clean... it must be SUPER expensive. Boy was I wrong. I got a customer subwoofer enclosure, amplifier, wiring, and the RF threesixty.2 installed in my car by them like two months ago and I've been super happy with it. I actually went to this ghetto store in Santa Ana and got quoted 500 dollars MORE than the guys at Audio Lab quoted me. The whole installation took about 2 days, but they were kind enough to offer me a ride to and from work. The quality of their work is superb. I actually had to take my car back the first night, and so when I was home I got to take a look at how they did the wiring, and it was magnificent. Super organized. My custom subwoofer box was made perfectly too, nice and heavy duty and sounds great. The only negative I had iwth them is I requested a grill to cover my subwoofer, but they had no compatible ones for the subwoofer I wanted. However, they said if I want to, I can find one online and they'd be more than happy to install it for me for free :). I'm at a slight crossroads about whether or not I want to do that though... my box is perfectly big right now so i can still lift the floor of the trunk up, and after I install the grill I don't think i'll be able to anymore. Perhaps I'll see if they can make my box a bit smaller. Either way, I keep recommending this shop to all my friends. Their pricing is great and their work is great. I totally forgot to add my review for Audio Lab, so this is a bit late. I had 4 Hertz 6" speakers with tweeters installed, along with a Hertz 950w amp as well as a 10" subwoofer. They custom made me a box for the sub that fits perfectly inside my trunk. Doesn't take too much room and is perfect for leaving me all my trunk space. The speakers sound incredible. The whole set up is incredible. Everyone at Audio Lab were super helpful, polite and definitely knowledgeable. I had to take it back for a little problem I was having with one of the tweeters cutting out from time to time. I brought it in and they fixed it no charge. I was very happy with the quality of the workmanship and their knowledge of the additional parts required to mate the unit with the existing Boses speakers. I stepped into Audio Lab last night around 5:45pm to initially just get an estimate for installing my Pioneer MVH-2400NEX head unit. Miguel was the awesome gentleman that helped me out and walked me through how things would be setup and any other question I had. I was blown away that he was able to take me in right then and there for an appointment to get it installed considering that they close at 7pm and I pretty much showed up at the last hour! From the moment I stepped foot through the doors till I left the parking lot, Miguel was there to keep me updated and in the loop with everything going on; A+ customer service here ladies and gentlemen. The install itself cost $120 flat. You can go down the road a bit and try to get your unit installed at Best Buy for around $100 (which I've done before years ago) but in my opinion, you don't get that welcoming and assuring one on one customer service like you would get from the Audio Lab crew. They finished the install within an hour time frame and did a very good job with keeping things look clean and up to OEM standards. Unfortunately I had troubles with my Android Auto working and later on found out that it's more of a phone issue that a lot of other people seem to be having too (more on that later). Well after tinkering around with the new unit and my phone in the lot and couldn't get things to work, Miguel came to help and take a look into things and run a diagnosis even though they closed up shop already at the time (did I mention how awesome their customer service is yet?). After about 5-10 minutes of trying different cables and testing my phone out with the same model unit in their store, we all came to the conclusion there must be some compatibility issue. Long story short, if you're in the market for upgrading your car stereo or even just a simple head unit install, I would highly recommend checking the guys at Audio Lab. Sidenote (skip this part if you don't have an Android phone and Pioneer unit): After some Googling, I found out a lot of other Pixel 2 and Pixel 3 owners running Android P are experiencing the same issue that I'm having with my MVH-2400NEX. I tried updating the head unit's firmware and things still didn't work. The only workaround that does work however is by resetting your phone every time before stepping into your car and plugging it in for Android Auto. Although it's very inconvenient, it will get the job done until Google sorts this all out and we can carry on with our lives again as normal.
