This is a solid restaurant for a date or anniversary dinner. The atmosphere is cool and inviting, and the food is delicious. I was in a group of four people and got to taste everyone's dish. You really should go with the seafood. I had the bison and it was covered in sauce - you could barely taste the meat. It wasn't bad, but wasn't worth the price either. It's also more dressy than other restaurants nearby, definitely not a place you can walk into straight from the beach. We live locally and we decided to give Azurea another chance while staying at One Ocean- that was a $400 mistake . The service was slow and terrible . They said they were busy... But had 50% of the tables vacant .... They must be understaffed, because there was no excuse for the staff to be MIA. Worse than the service was the entrees , the bison (45$) tasted like unaged prime rib and our other two entrees were too salty . One member of our party sent their food back and the second attempt was better .... But the food was still not good . Sadly, i can't even say anything good about the dessert .... Just poor . Needless to say we will never be back and will never recommend Azurea. read more

Great service start to finish. Had the candy cane beet salad with walnut chèvre, crab cake, the grouper 3 ways (the blackened was amazing!!) and the coriander dusted sea bass. This restaurant has a great ambiance for a romantic date. The server, Anita, gave great recommendations on wine. Along with the meal, we received complementary bread with various spreads, fig and goat cheese tasting, and a plate of chocolate truffles at the end of the meal. All of these were great. However, the entree was disappointing. I ordered the Ocean Mixed Grill. The seafood sausage and the swordfish were extremely dry and lacking flavor. My favorite dinner on my weekend stay in Jacksonville. I actually stayed at the resort, so this just added to the wonderful stay we had. The server was very attentive and knowledgable. The drinks were yummy! Everything we ordered was delicious and beautifully prepared. We got a lot of special treatment and free chocolates and tastings. We even got to watch the sunset on the beach out the window. This place is well worth the money and visit! You won't be disappointed! Breakfast = we went here for breakfast the following morning and that did not disappoint either! Everything was very tasty and fresh. Went there for Eater Brunch and the only thing impressive was the view. We booked a table through Open Table and was impressed to get a call a couple of day before to ask about our dietary needs and ask for info to contact us in the future for other deals. However, when we arrived I asked for an outside table where I was told it would be over an hour wait and had other guest request the outside table only to leave and find 6 empty tables. We sat at a booth and had pretty good service from our waiter; however the food and menu was not very good. For a Sunday Brunch there was only 4 breakfast options and the rest of the menu was filled with $14+ soup/salad options and $26+ dinner options. I had an amazing dinner this evening! Chef Derek called my room to discuss vegan options for me shortly after check in. They created a delicious butternut squash risotto, quinoa cake, and topped it with other veggies for the main course. A beautiful rainbow colored house salad to start. And raspberry and mango sorbet for dessert. The food and service were impeccable from start to finish. Anita and Armin were so hospitable and accommodating! When I expressed my appreciation, Anita said, "We make all your dreams come true... like Disney". And that they did. Restaurant: I have only been to Azurea for brunch and lunch. For special occasions or if there is family in town, my parents will reserve a table here because of the pleasing view (you can sit outside on the patio with a great view of the ocean). If this restaurant was not located on the oceanside, I'm not sure we would ever come here for a meal. The food is overpriced and hit-or-miss, and there are never drink specials. We ordered mimosas at brunch for our table and ended up paying a FORTUNE! The service has never been that stellar... usually something gets messed up and we wait a while. Bar: My boyfriend and I do commonly visit the bar inside for a drink before heading off to a reservation elsewhere, since we live so close to One Ocean. It is a good place to sit down for a drink or two and enjoy a nice atmosphere and view. However, with the drinks at $12, you really can only have one or two each before breaking the bank. I really like the bartenders at this bar. If you strike up a conversation with them, they are all very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and the hotel. read more

We had a wonderful meal. I had the catch of the day (Yellow Snapper) prepared three different ways, and my wife had a seafood medley (Snapper, Prawns and seafood sausage). We were there on a Wednesday night, it didn't appear too busy but for some reason our meals took too long to come out; the GM came to our table to apologize, provided comped wine and an octopus salad. We had a drink before dinner, shared a delicious Caesar salad, an award winning blue crab cake and then I had the Seafood mixed grill and my hubby had wild boar!! Dessert too all for 130.00! I've become a regular at Azurea for special evenings, mainly because the food is excellent. The cuisine is sophisticated, refined, well presented and made from high quality ingredients. I can even take visitors from Paris there and not worry that they'll be disappointed. I can't recommend anything in particular because everything is delicious: the tuna carpaccio, the seasonal soups, the various gourmet salads, the scallops, the sea bass and other fish dishes, the duck, the lamb, and the side dishes--particularly the sauteed mushrooms. The dessert chef is also top notch. My favorite of favorites is their chocolate souffle (much better there than at Matthew's), which they normally serve only on Friday and Saturday nights. I've called ahead once to request it on a week night (it was my birthday) and they were happy to oblige. The service is very attentive--I recommend Brian--and all the wait staff know the dishes and wines well enough to help you make your selection. Personally, I try to avoid the one French waiter (can't remember his name) who monopolized the conversation once he heard us speak and figured out we were French, wouldn't let us have a conversation without being involved, and spoke so much he kept bringing us the food late. He also forgot to put in for one of the desserts so one of us had to wait 10 minutes and watch everyone else eat... I guess if you're not French, and you're not trying to have an intimate dinner, he might be fun. The decor is nice, and the booths are great for a romantic dinner or a date. The terrace serves mainly the bar menu (which is great, too, the hamburgers are fantastic and very reasonably priced, and you can order side dishes from the restaurant menu to accompany them) and it has more of a "lounge" feel at night, like the bar. We once ate there on the 4th of July and watched the fireworks while eating good food. Can't beat that. It's a bit pricey and not for an every day night out, but it's definitely a great place for special occasions. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because the last time I had the mixed seafood grill, the fish was overcooked and dry, and the wild mushrooms side dish I ordered had just regular baby bella mushrooms, no wild mushrooms. I think that this restaurant is a little over priced for what you get. It's not the food is good it's to the food is 4 star in the prices are 5 star. Very slow the service can be hit or miss depending on the server we have had great service and we've had poor service very inconsistent. Nice hotel though. read more

THREE STRIKES AND YOU'RE OUT It is with sadness that I write this review. Because my husband and I have been to Azurea perhaps 10 times in the past for delicious leisurely lunches. The last time we went was with my out-of-town brother and SIL and my father. As on previous occasions - the meal was a solid 4 stars (and we've had the occasional 5 stars there as well). We had simply never been disappointed there - which is one reason I booked Thanksgiving lunch (I usually cook at home but that wasn't possible this year). Another was that the Thanksgiving menu was very interesting - looked great. So we arrived at 12:30 eagerly anticipating our meal. Strike one. My husband ordered a glass of Veuve Clicquot to start. It was flat (it was from a previously opened bottle - I don't know when the bottle had been opened - but I suspect it was the night before - a bottle of champagne won't go flat in an hour). Strike two. My father's dish was called "Braised Colorado Lamb Rack". I suppose if I had been paying close attention - I would have questioned a "braised" rack of lamb. Because who braises a rack of lamb? In any event - when the dish came out - it wasn't a rack of lamb - but a braised lamb shank. Now it might have been a great braised lamb shank. But my father - who lives in a senior facility that serves many inexpensive cuts of meat - was looking forward to a rack of lamb - an infrequent dining treat for him. Anyway - he sent the dish back - and got another (the scallops). He deemed the new dish satisfactory - but didn't seem thrilled (my husband and I tasted the dish and think my father's assessment was correct). Strike three. And here's where it gets a little weird. One of the things that attracted me about the menu was a wrapped stuffed "pheasant breast". So that's what I ordered. And what I got - well it tasted like chicken. Now I have very little experience with pheasant. A neighbor used to go hunting - and she always brought me back some pheasant breasts. Even when I cooked them at home - well the taste was special. And the taste of this somewhat overcooked fowl was nothing special. Anyway - I kind of shrugged it off until I got the menu back for dessert. And this menu said "wrapped chicken breast" - not pheasant. And - when I went outside to take a break - the staff at the front desk was replacing the original menu which said "pheasant" with new menus which said "chicken". In case anyone thinks I'm crazy - I brought copies of both menus home with me. Anyway - the restaurant did try to make good on all of this. My husband's glass of flat champagne was replaced with a fresh one from a new bottle. My father got a new main. My "pheasant" - which I was told when we were paying our bill had actually been "chicken" - was removed from the bill. But none of this should have happened in the first place. Not at a restaurant of this caliber at this price point. Also - it wasn't like the restaurant ran out of pheasant. Not at 12:30 pm. And - the restaurant obviously prints its menus in house. So - if a supplier didn't come through on Wednesday - the menus could have been changed on Thursday morning. As they were in fact changed in the middle of lunch service. FWIW - we can't fault the service or our server. She did her best considering that none of this was her fault and that she was receiving the brunt of our complaints. And I commend her for following through and doing her best to deal with our (IMO justified) complaints. Also - reservations was good at accommodating our request for a table for 3 at our preferred time. And the restaurant did seem on top of handling a large holiday crowd (if anything - the courses would have come out a little too fast for our taste had we not requested a rest between courses). Still - I was not a happy camper when I left. I've lived in Florida for a very long time. And have dined extensively in many places (in Florida - the US - many countries all around the world).. I don't ever recall having food that was "mislabeled" before - except on a couple of occasions in Florida fish restaurants where fish was labeled as - for example - more expensive red snapper - when it was a less expensive fish - like grouper (I know my Florida fish). My husband and I will probably return for lunch - just because we've had such good lunch experiences in the past. But I probably won't book this restaurant again for a special occasion and will be canceling our reservation for NYE. Once burnt - twice shy. read more

This is not just a restaurant, it's an experience. Starting with a large driveway entrance with valet, coming into an impressive entrance and turning down their iconic tunnel into the beautiful oceanfront is enough to make anyone anticipate a special meal. The waitstaff is very well trained, attentive but not annoying and knowledgeable about the menu and wine list. The bread basket itself is a delight, paired with pesto, butter, oil and a sundried tomato spread. The menu plays off classics but adds an unexpected element to each. The attention to detail is the icing on the cake- from the little flower petals added to the salad to the gold flake on the dessert. What an enjoyable evening in a beautiful location- we would be there to celebrate many occasions if we were local. read more

This place is a new favorite. Husband managed to make reservations here on rather late notice for Mother's Day and I'm so glad he did! The entire restaurant is open to views of the ocean (score!) and the ambiance is a clean, modern vibe (score again!) with tasty food (score yet again!). We had the asparagus bisque, seafood cobb salad (the shrimp was a tad too salty), fish tacos and they even customized a brunch dish for our kiddo (eggs, bacon, fruit). What a disappointment. My wife and I went to Azurea this afternoon for a high tea to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary. We had just been to Azurea for a high tea with our daughter several weeks back and thoroughly enjoyed it. Today, when we arrived, there was no acknowledgement of our special occasion despite being asked on the phone when we made our reservation. I don't expect to leave a high tea uncomfortably full, but the sandwiches had very little filling compared to our last visit, and the sandwich menu was virtually identical. The service was sluggish at best, with long waits to have teapots refilled with hot water. Also, I have never seen the gratuity automatically added for a party of two, but the waiter awarded himself a 22% tip, which was a bit generous given the inattentive service. We'll think through carefully before spending $90 again and then having to visit Chick-Fil-A on the way home. read more

I use to love to eat here. The past 2 times it has not been up to par. Wait staff was very friendly. However our drink orders took a very long time to come to the table. One of the couples ordered a bottle of wine and served quickly, so the issue is probably with bar service items. The appetizers were good. We got octopus and split some salads. Dinner was not great. Two guests at that table got bone in filet mignon and both were not medium rare,plus served with a potato that was not fully cooked. The potato on both plates were completely hard. I ordered butter poached lobster and wasn't expecting it to be served cold. I did discuss with wait staff and she explained it was suppose to be cold and that the portion covered with a crepe is suppose to be warm. Nothing on the plate was warm. It tasted ok, but just ok. I wish menu had stated that it is served cold. Nothing to brag about. Everyone ate their food as it was edible it just wasn't great. We did discuss with wait staff and asked that they not adjust anything we just wanted them to know. They gave us a dessert tray which was very good. I'm hopeful they can correct the dinner issues as this was one of my recommended places to eat. read more

Unfortunately our last dinner here was better than our recent one as the chef's have changed. Not that the new chef is not good, but we were not a fan of some of the different menu items! The bread dips changed and that was something we loved when they were sundried tomato and herb based and not sweet like apple butter or apple sauce. The presentation of our meal was truly a piece of art. But the food was... meh. The cherry tomato/crab meat complimentary appetiser was beautiful, but tasted like canned tuna. The jumbo asparagus was stiff, stalky & tasteless. Two plates of over cooked fish - seriously over cooked. Both Cobia & Grouper were stiff & dry. Menu pricing is acceptable IF the food is top notch. We made reservations for my birthday for 9 People. The reservation involved 3 separate phone calls so there could be no mistake. This morning a friend called to add one more person if possible and there was no reservation. After my husband spoke to the manager and I drove over and spoke to her as well her only option was to seat us 2 hours later which would be 9:45. She was unwilling to pull two tables together to accommodate us. Very disappointing. Try finding back up reservations for 10 in a Sat afternoon for that evening. read more

What a horrible disappointment Went to Azure for the first time in a number of years. Simply put it was awful. Waitress was nice but totally inaudible. Food was just lousy and expensive. What a terrible combination. Got the octopus appetizer that made it to mediocre. So many places around do it better. Seafood Grill was for dinner. Everything on the plate was room temperature. We were given the wrong menu and didn't receive the nice candy display dish like every other customer received when getting their bill. No one should give this restaurant less than five stars! From reservations to signing the check, everything was on point! I have eaten at great restaurants from NY to LA. Azurea is number one!
