Solid food truck, would give them 3.5 stars We've tried the Bacon Fried Chicken twice now and the first time they over cooked the chicken a bit, but the second time it was cooked perfectly. Nice crispy slaw compliments the chicken and bacon, making the sandwich not overly heavy. We also tried the brussel sprouts which were good, but dare I say there was almost too much bacon in it. We also ordered the chocolate covered bacon which was a bit pricey ($3/strip). The bacon, chocolate and toffee went well together but the bacon should have been crispier. No line, because Señor Sisig was also there. I ordered the GLBT with the thick cut bacon and took it to go. The sandwich was ok, it could have had more goat cheese for me. The bacon was incredible as well as overwhelming. The smoked flavor was unique, you could taste whatever herbs they'd flavored it with, but it was also kind of chewy and cool. I'm not sure what I expected, but maybe for it to be hot? Overall decent, but not super noteworthy except for the bacon, which I guess is the point. I was intent on keeping an eye on Bacon Bacon's twitter to see when they were going to be nearby. I finally had my chance and I bolted to the location as soon as my lunch hour began. When I got there, I was welcomed by a faint smell of bacon. *drool* As I scanned though the menu trying to decide what my first taste would be, I noticed their special for the day: Triple B Tacos. What is in the Triple B Taco? Bacon, Belly, and Butt. Oh. Yeah. I ordered 2 tacos (for $3 each) and they were ready in a few minutes. The taco shell looked homemade (assumed by the ununiformed shape) and filled with a heaping pile of Triple B, grilled bell peppers, and Queso blanco cheese. Everything worked so well together, the crispiness of the bacon, the fattiness of the belly, and the tenderness of the butt. The flavor was definitely there. I'm pretty sure I clogged some arteries that day, but it was well worth it. I can't wait to try something else, so I'll prepare myself by eating vegetarian for a meal or two. ;) read more

Every time I see their mat black truck my heart skips a beat for the thrill of food slathered in Bacon and every time I am left wanting more bacon. Too be fair their food is not bad but it's nothing special either the part that really is lacking is the Bacon. There just needs to be more of it. A bacon chicken sandwich with two strips of bacon is kind of a let down when your food truck is called Bacon Bacon. Or maybe it's exactly on point a piece of bacon for bacon painted on the truck. But that being said the bacon isn't anything special. There are other trucks around the city who does bacon better than The Bacon Bacon Truck. But this shouldn't stop you from trying The Bacon Bacon truck, if you like burgers and bar food, you won't be disappointed. Bacon. More bacon. Delicious. I've loved almost everything I've had from Bacon Bacon. I used to go to the Haight Off the Grid regularly to visit them, never knowing that the brick and mortar was so close by! Now that I know and they're open on Sundays now, I'm on a mission to try everything on their menu. Things I've loved-- bacon bouquets, the burger, grilled cheese, the italian, mexican hot chocolate, chocolate covered bacon. Things not so stellar- bacon chili fries, almost vegetarian sandwich. The best thing here is obviously the bacon, and they have lots of different kinds. I recommend that everyone should try the flight bouquet, which gets you a strip of each of their specialties-- the house smoked and cured, the cayenne and brown sugar, the chimichurri, the bbq, the chicken fried, and the plain brown sugar. I had this today, and it was both delicious and beautiful. All of the pieces were thick and juicy, with the exception of the chicken fried which was a bit dried out and crispy from the frying. Still amazing though. The mexican hot chocolate with bacon is also great on a cold day, especially hanging out outside at an OTG! The chili fries I didn't like so much because of the chili. It didn't seem to have a ton of bacon, and was on the dry side. I also tried the Italian today, and its another winner. Juicy, full of flavor, authentic tasting Italian with bacon in it. It tastes a lot like the amazing Italian over at Scolari's in Alameda, only with bacon, which makes EVERYTHING better. I don't think the prices are bad at all, usually $7-8 per sandwich type item. The portions aren't massive, but they aren't too skimpy either. They're just right for me. If you love bacon, you'll love this place. I will most definitely be back. These guys catered for us at work so I figured I'd try it out since the SF city folks raved about them. The burger - literally 2 patties of grass fed beef, topped with cheese, and 3 strips of bacon, and butter, oil or what I would call pure lard. Not even a drop of veggies... considering, im a health freak, the burger was so tasty and I was in heaven on the first bite! Fries - pretty much garlic fries, delicious! Caramel bacon popcorn - it's just caramel popcorn with pieces of fresh bacon. Wasn't too much of a fan with the popcorn. These guys don't mess around with their bacon. With all that said, I only took 2 bites of the burger, a few fries and popcorn as I don't think my stomach would've been able to handle all of that grease (yes, weak sauce). I was really excited to finally track down this truck which mostly wandered about in SF. Town girl here! I wish it was as good as I thought it was going to be. Perhaps it was my fault to put it on a pedestal and have such high expectations, only to be met with unrequited love. I think I finally know what it means to have your heart shattered into glass pieces. I was at Off the Grid at the museum and items were disappearing off the menu of the Bacon Bacon truck as I stood in line. Travel back to 2012 Outside Lands, and the first truck I go to is Bacon Bacon where I have ridiculously good Bacon Gravy Fries. Since then I have gone to their physical location (which was pretty decent), although they don't serve their gravy fries at their storefront location (pretty disappointed). I also just went to this truck at Outside Lands 2013, and they had a slightly different version of those original fries for about the first day until they sold out. The parmesan fries that I purchased at the Bottlerock Festival in Napa were not good. They were $5 and the size of a McDonald's medium fry, but they were barely warm and had maybe 3-4 pieces of parmesan and a sprinkle of herb. Non-warm non-parmesan fries are not good. Ack. read more

Hands down one of the best food trucks out here! The bacon fried chicken burger with the slaw is purely amazing. The bacon mayo is creamy and thick while the crispy sweet glazed bacon strips provides texture. Each bite has a fresh crunchy taste to it. The chicken is cooked to perfection. The white meat is tender and moist. The slaw is is crispy and the vibrant purple from the cabbage sticks out to provide a more appealing look to the sandwich. First timer at their truck at off the grid at Serramonte. I ordered the bacon fried chicken sandwich and fries. It took quite a while for me to get my order because someone picked up the wrong order and they had to remake a few orders ahead of mine. And while waiting, I noticed they were very unprepared and many orders weren't done right and missing items, like a sandwich missing bacon by a truck that revolves around bacon. By the time I finally got my order the sandwich looked perfect but I opened my fries n it was completely plain. I asked for the herbs and Parmesan and apparently for being open only 30 minutes in they didn't have Parmesan. As happy as I was with my burger, the fries were ehh. Grilled Cheese: get the Burger instead. Whoa, two stars?? How can you go wrong with bacon? Though my Grilled Cheese was decent for the most part, I had to wait a ridiculous amount of time for it. The usual wait is long enough because they probably don't have enough cooks and the line is quite long, but I had to wait an extra 10 minutes after my coworkers who were in front of me in line got their food. All for a sad $6 thin grilled cheese sandwich, which felt more overdone that it should have been. If you want to come here, pay the extra buck to get the burger. Bacon jam is interesting, and I'm glad I tried it, but the sandwich was way smaller than expected. Pork Belly sandwich: okay I was hoping this would really hit the spot. After seeing a monster line again at Mama's, we sat at the Washington square park to relax a bit and eventually saw this truck parked nearby a farmers market. I got the pork belly sandwich but the breakfast sandwich looked rather yummy too. I'd say the pork belly itself was not as tasty-melt in my mouth yummy as I was hoping but the egg was cooked perfectly with runny yolk all over the sandwich. After buying the sandwich I noticed a woman who wanted the "almost veggie" sandwich (has a little bacon in it) without the bacon...why even eat at a truck called bacon bacon? Then another lady who wanted a beef patty seared on both sides and nothing else. The cook declined the request though as he didn't want to give her something that he felt wouldn't be the best quality. After I walked back to the park to eat my sandwich in a box, a park bum asked me for my leftovers...I told him I haven't even eaten yet :X read more

Found this truck at the big San Jose Earthquakes/LA Galaxy game at Stanford. What sucks is that you can never check into a truck when their main headquarters is somewhere else. Yelp needs to incorporate this function as there are many food trucks that make out of the ordinary trips to serve the people. I tried the bacon fried chicken sandwich and the belly fries. Bacon Fried Chicken sandwich was a bust. The piece was so thick that it didnt make sense in the sandwich. I would have preferred a thinner piece of chicken that covered the size of the bun. Not a thick piece that covered about 75% of the bun. The chicken was also so dry. Bacon wrapped the chicken, making it not very crispy. The Belly Fries was a great item. Bacon pieces were crispy. It came with some good pulled pork. Fries were all natural, much like Wingstop fries. Nice finish as the chef grates some Parmesan cheese on top, Highly recommend this item. The miss that was taking orders was very kind. However the chef that gave out the food had a little attitude problem. The lady in front of me asked for more ketchup and he brushed her off, but then later apologized and told her to ask the servers outside. Try putting on a smile when giving out the food. It's worth about a star. Would like to see bacon as the main star of each dish, especially if the place is called Bacon Bacon. Really i was ready to give 5 stars on the concept and name, not to mention the cool truck design job..but then an hour wait in line (just to order!) later..you could see the stars falling like prices at walmart. We queued up in line at 11:45..usually for the more popular trucks we're there at 11:30..but time got away..in this case it didnt really matter because even though the truck stop opens at 11..Bacon bacon didnt start serving (and it was ambiguous if they started taking orders earlier) than 12...50 minutes in..as i was passing the brunchbox truck..i almost hopped out ..but figured i had enough time invested..i'd stick it out...always go with your GUT!. By the time we got to order they were out of most everything but the Hamburger, Grilled Cheese, chocolate covered bacon..and caramel corn. I ordered the Grilled Cheese..my arteries have been given a run lately with all the pork belly..and well..the grilled cheese still had bacon on it...and bacon jam. Ten minutes later...got my grilled cheese. My coworker who ordered right before me ordered the burger..i stood with him another 10 minutes..then the crowd of people waiting for their food got to be too much..so i moved out of the throng...another 5 minutes... couldn't take it anymore..had to eat my sandwich..which was two pieces of bread, said bacon jam..and some chopped up bacon. I finally got a chance to try this Bacon Bacon thing. I'm upset that all my friends tried it before me. Actually, they tried it the day before me and beat me to the punch. They had some things to stay about it that they didn't enjoy the grease, they ran out of some chocolate covered bacon, the pork balls sandwich was delicious, and so forth. And me, hyping up the place for myself never really does me any favors, especially if it's a huge letdown. Have no fear: Bacon Bacon is not a huge let down. It's wonderful! I dragged another friend and fellow bacon lover with me to the Castro yesterday. I believe I walked up from Castro station and saw the truck parked there, went to go get cash, and when I came back it was gone. I was then informed that it moved to nearby Octavia St. in Hayes Valley, so me and my friend hopped on the F and got there in no time. First in line. No lie. It's our dedication. Plus, you gotta love the facebook/twitter thing. Constant updates! When they finally started taking orders, this charming man in a hat apologized for the mishap of change of location, which we honestly didn't mind. Looking at the menu, there are so many choices! Burgers, sandwiches, side dishes, desserts, all very delicious sounding. While the burger sounded super delicious, I decided to go with the grilled cheese with the bacon jam, bacon and tomato. It was better than I expected! So good. And not greasy at all. My friend, in honor of the Castro, got the LGBT which was kind of like a vegetarian sandwich with bacon. On the side we got those belly fries which were pretty good too. For dessert, I had the chocolate covered bacon. I instantly knew I was eating something bad for me, but that salty/sweet combo put a smile on my face. My trip to this truck was a complete success. I can't wait to visit it again, and see what they come up with next. I'm sure they're still working out the kinks service wise (I noticed that people who took their order after me were getting their food before me. This did not please me, as I was pretty hungry). I ordered The Belly (Pork belly, organic fried egg, arugula, caper aioli), and I nearly chewed through the container cause it smelled so good. The bread was toasty, and the fried egg yolk was intact and oozed out its deliciousness all over the pork belly in between. The caper aioli sauce definitely added extra flavors to counter the saltiness of the pork belly and enhanced the rest of the sandwich. I probably should have just gotten the bacon bouquet. I ordered the pork belly burger since they were out of the hamburger, and its just not really my thing, way too fatty. The bacon they server here otherwise was pretty damn good. I was a bit disappointed in the bacon caramel corn, the bacon flavor seemed burnt and there was not enough of it. This truck was a little bit of a letdown because i had such high hopes for some really creative bacon dishes and their offerings seemed to be limited. Let me get once thing on the record before my review: I love bacon. Bacon makes virtually every dish better. So it is with a tear in my eye that I write my negative review. I got there early, 11:30ish, because my coworkers say that the lines sometimes get ridiculous. I got there before the rush, only three people in line ahead of me, and five or six waiting for their delicious bacon. I ordered without problem, and started waiting. And waiting. AND WAITING. The people who were waiting when I arrived got their sandwiches and left. The people who got in line with my got their sandwiches and left. People who got in line long after I was standing around waiting like a fool got their sandwiches and left. That's cool, kitchens can be hectic. My sandwich finally came, so I walked the five minutes back to my office. This would be a positive review, because I don't really mind waiting a bit, but oh, the horror that appeared when I opened the package. My sandwich was cold. Not lukewarm after a walk back to the office, but ice-cold. Even the bacon, which had clearly had the most time in the pan, was freezing. The bread looked like it had hit the grill that morning, and could in no way whatsoever be classified as warm. Cold toast is disgusting. To top it off, the slaw (advertised as spicy!!) was just basically pieces of cabbage stuck on the bread. Honestly, if I had had 10 minutes, a grill, and some fresh ingredients, I could have made a far better bacon sandwich myself. Subway's $5 foot-longs are epochs ahead of this abomination-qua-sandwich. Apparently this place is just across the street from my office. A coworker was headed there and asked a bunch of people in the office if they wanted anything, and she showed me a menu. I just picked the first thing on the menu, the burger. Since I didn't actually see the place, I can't really say anything about the setting itself. But in terms of service, my coworker did tell me it would take some time to actually get our food - she had time to come back up to the office and keep working for a bit before going back down to pick it up when it was ready. The bacon was pretty tasty, and was fairly thick unlike the bacon in sandwiches elsewhere. But I felt like the rest of the burger could use some work. I couldn't really taste the cheese. There was plenty of meat but it was very very dry and didn't have a lot of flavor. What I did manage to taste was decent though. But it cost $9 so overall it didn't really seem worth it. Well...they're maybe halfway there. Good concept, good-looking food, so-so execution. I work close to their SSF stop today, so I was the first customer of the day. I kept it simple: Bacon Burger, Fries, Soda. Hard to mess that up, right? I'm not sure why they called them "hand-cut" fries--I saw them taking them out of a bag. Hand cut at the food service company? Whatever...the issue was they boxed them up and let them sit and sit and sit at the window while they cooked the burger. Cold fries suck. Strike 1. The burger had lots of good parts--soft, tasty bun; quality cheese; and a juicy, properly cooked patty. The problem was the bacon. You know, the supposed star of the show? Not enough of it, and what was there was chewy with no crunch at all--like it had been cooked well ahead of time and sat. Strike 2. For $9, there's a Wendy's two blocks away--I could have had two Baconators and been happier. With 7x the bacon! The soda was kept in a not-very-cold-fridge, wasn't cold at all, is sitting unfinished. First off let me say, I've been hunting this trunk down for over a year now. I finally got try it at the Eat Real fest in Oakland. Now when you hear then name "bacon bacon" (especially if you LOVE bacon) you are expecting some BACON! Truth be told it wasn't all about the bacon. Apparently the menu changes, so I had the feature item which was a bacon burrito filled with fries and some cabbage(some kind of sauce). I remember hearing lots of hype about this food truck debuting at off the grid but never saw the truck there. I luckily stumbled on it at Truck Stop and the two times the Truck was there was madness! The first time I waited an 1 hour and 20 mins for food. The second time, I made sure to go early and still waited an hour but at least I got to try the pork belly. Food: Bacon burger- pretty decent, but I expected more for waiting a long time to get my order Pork belly- it was good but the meat to fat ratio was off, I like some fat in the meat because it gives flavor but too much fat just makes the sandwich kind of gross. Popcorn with toffee and bacon- interesting mix with a nice smoky flavor from the bacon I normally do not comment on service but this truck does a great job. The first time I tried it and they were swamped, the workers started to give free food to all the customers. It was a good gesture and nice way to try some of their fries and popcorn. read more

Having gone back a few more times, I'm upping my rating for Bacon Bacon. The girl is noticeably more professional and friendlier. Also, I've gotten the grilled cheese and the caramel bacon popcorn which is freakin' amazing. I also got the Bacon Bacon version of the BLT and it was really delicious. The root beer was still on the menu. I guess there are fans of the drink out there; well, I warned you in my previous review. I still think it's kind of a rip-off. Definitely recommend this food truck to people who love bacon. read more
