The first Bafang in California opened near the run down Puente Hills Mall. I've been there a couple of times. I knew that they were like a fast food restaurant serving up some fast and cheap food. It surprised me that we decided to try them while on a recent business trip because I've never been impressed. I was impressed with this location. They are located in a nicer shopping center in Santa Clara with a Whole Foods and lots of nice restaurants. Surprisingly I visited twice on a recent business trip because I wasn't too hungry and didn't want to spend too much. Parking is almost impossible for this restaurant. Bafang was less then 5 minutes of driving from my hotel, but took over 20 minutes of looking for a parking spot. The dumplings and potstickers have a pork and cabbage filling. All the Taiwan natives in Southern California say it reminds them of Taiwan. I'm not a native. I think they are okay and won't go out of my way for it. Their combos are nicely priced for a cheapskate like me. With the hotel feeding my wife and I half a dinner, we didn't have to order much. I liked their noodles more than their dumplings. I don't like their cabbage filling. When you want cheap, you get cabbage. They are in a good location where you can't park in the evenings. The food is cheap and okay. I might visit again when on another business trip in the area.

This is another one of the chain that I had to round up the score as I couldn't give it a three half star. Been meaning to check this out for a couple months now. Decided to come by after catching a movie at the nearby theatre. Very spacious and clean place with a fast food/self service business model. You ordered at counter, pickup the food which comes in paper containers that you can dine there or take it to-go. Their signature noodle was really good in terms of the noodle texture and flavor. Noodle has the right level of chewiness and thickness which I like. It was very flavorful with mild spiciness and not too oily. I also had their veggie potstickers. It was not bad - a little on the oily side and I would love it if they had it more crispy on the outer wrap. As for dipping sauce, they have multiple sauces (garlic, sesame, vinegar, soy) on the counter for you to mix to your liking. The only thing I would not recommend ordering was their hot & sour soup which doesn't look nor taste like a hot & sour soup at all - in fact tasted weird in my opinion. My husband was disgusted with the soup.

I made a DoorDash order and I was excited to try them out. I've never been to Bafang, based on what I heard about the congested parking situation and the crowded patrons, so I'm really glad that I can give them a try without the burden. The experience with the food was just ok. I ordered a mini wonton soup and a pack of 6 signature dumplings. The wonton soup tasted ok, the soup got the umami flavors as you get from MSG, but I had no MSG reactions afterwards; unfortunately, all the wonton were broken. The wrappings were thin, but they all broke, leaving the meatball fillings floating around. The steamed dumplings also tasted ok. Although the wrapping looked thick, it didn't have that chewy gluten texture that I dislike. I found the fillings tasted fine, but there's this sense of air and space b/w the wrapper and the fillings. My friend echoed my feelings and said she always felt like not eating enough substances when eating their dumplings for hot pot. I also tried one potsticker, not bad, but potstickers are just not great for take-out, as they easily lose the crispiness, and the oil could overwhelm the dumplings. I'm not happy with their take-out packaging, as all the potstickers were left in various boxes without markings. We were so confused by which was which, and my friend had to sniff inside each box to find her kimchi potsticker. lol I also tried a piece of beef from the beef noodle soup. The beef was soft, but it lacked flavor compared to Flaming Ox.

Bafang Dumpling is a popular restaurant chain from Taiwan. This location has been open for a couple months now. I recently got the chance to dine here for dinner with my SO and friends. ORDER/REGISTRAR The staff are pretty busy. The employee that took our order was friendly and professional. SEATING After you order at the registrar, you find your own table to sit at. Also, you clean up after dining with several trash stations with tray carts, etc. FOOD - Bafang Signatue Potstickers x12 - Pork Chop with Briased Pork Belly Rice Bowl - Wonton Soup Everything was made fresh to order. We waited about 10-15 minutes for our food. Everything was delicious and tasty. The potstickers were crisp and the filling was well seasoned and flavorful. The rice bowl I ordered was comforting and tasty -- I love the pickled mustard greens and sweet pickled cucumber slices. Overall, it's a solid spot to enjoy Taiwanese comfort food. Next time, I'd like to try the Taiwanese beer noodle soup and explore other flavorful dumplings on the menu.

Decided to try Bafang after some of the hype died down and in the late evening to avoid any potential waits. Two of us had: combo 7 $14.50 -mini wonton soup -bafang signature noodle 6 signature dumplings $6.95 fried pork chop $9.25 OVerall, OK meal. Wonton had too much wrapper. Noodle was way too saucey and overcooked. Dumplings were ok (too much dough) and pork chop was avg. Pricing wise, relatively reasonable. Nice ambiance inside. Food came out really slow for some reason, but maybe because we went in late. Limited parking in the plaza.

First impression of this place is open, spacious and bright. It's a cafeteria-style that you order at the counter and find your own table. When your food is ready, you go get it at the counter on your own. Food is so-so, not as good as the hype. All the food we received are not served hot (temperature-wise). They're slightly luke warm and seems like it's been sitting around for awhile, and not freshly made. We ordered: - Signature Potstickers: They're not crispy at all. We can tell the pot stickers bren sitting around after being cooked. They're not freshly made to order. Very disappointing. - Signature Dumplings: They're ok, nothing special that I can't get anywhere else. Dumplings I got from other restaurants were served piping hot, but not here. - Pork Chop with braised pork belly rice: This is probably the best dish out of all. The pork chop is flavorful and tender. It comes with a little bit of preserved veggies. There is some sauce that flavor the rice too. However, the dish comes in room temperature and the rice is too hard (may be because the rice isn't served hot) - Bafang Signature Noodles: It's slightly spicy with a kick to it. Noodles are cooked well and chewy. There is no meat in this dish. The garlic sauce at the counter is very good to use as a dipping sauce for the potstickers and dumplings. Overall it's a big disappointment. Was hoping this to be a great dumpling place with a convenient location. I really wish all food were freshly cook to order and served piping hot.

Nice location, very clean, and workers were helpful as a first timer. Everything I ordered was delicious but my favorite dish I have to come back for is the wonton soup. The broth was light, flavorful, and had a hint of lemon. The wontons were great as well. Sesame noodles were good, a little thick and heavy but great flavor almost like peanut butter. Potstickers were great and crispy too.

Good place and location for those who work across the street at a tech company too cheap to provide you free food. Also, why the vaulted ceilings? I kinda wish a KBBQ or smoke-heavy restaurant moved in here instead to take advantage of that. You could totally eat dumplings and do acrobatics in here, no problem. There is so much space for it. The beef noodle soup was okay. The dumplings soup was pretty good, I like how extra savory/oily the clear broth was. The dumplings were alright. The dry noodles were very good. Overall 3 stars, I wasn't wow-ed by their food offerings other than them having a Pepsi soda fountain that was self served and that the place was very nice and very clean. I heard about this place a year or maybe two ago when they opened one in Irvine. I didn't have the chance to get to try it because it was hella packed and that plaza down in Irvine just gets absolutely slammed at certain times of the day (they had also just opened a HEYTEA across from it down there as well).

Everything is just okay; nothing was bad but I felt like it was mediocre comparatively (to Taiwan lol). You order at the front, get a buzzer, and sit down. Food comes out on a tray for dine-in, but in to-go containers. Pretty casual which is nice. It's bright and relatively large inside, which is good because it got packed on a Saturday night. I would consider this fast casual Taiwanese food - potstickers, dumplings, a variety of noodles (cold and hot), etc. There are a few combos where you can save .50 to a buck ish, compared to ordering individual items if what you want to order happens to be in a combo. We got a few combos to try, the only item we didn't try was the beef noodle soup. Pork chop was pretty good; sweet, pounded flat, not too tendon-y. Chicken wasn't great, lots of tendon-y pieces. My parents liked it more than we did so they said they'll be back for the beef noodle soup. My corn chowder was completely cold, which was disappointing. Mala noodle was also bland; I tried to doctor it up myself with the sauce bar. Mala flavor was weird, not numbing or mala whatsoever, I should've stuck to their classic noodle. The dumpling/potsticker fillings are simple; we got the classic pork cabbage, but there is also corn, kimchi, etc. Relatively bland. The dough wasn't anything to write home about either (not QQ or anything). They just tasted like run of the mill decent frozen potstickers - hence - I was surprised that there were people buying their dumplings in bulk (they sell frozen bags in bulk at the front) There is a sauce bar with garlic soy, chili, soy, vinegar. Garlic soy was not garlicky whatsoever - thought there would be more flavor to the sauces. Overall, not bad, just confused as to why it's so packed for the mediocrity. Seems like everyone is nostalgic for Taiwanese food (most of the patrons seemed to be Taiwanese).

Amazing place, we were impressed after a long time with many disappointment. Service is self serve but the food come out relatively fast. The inside is very clean and bright, smell good. Even with other crowed group I didn't feel suffocated. Food are amazing, my husband is very picky about food and he loved everything. He usually hate potsticker but he loved this one. The skin are thin and the filling are fragrant. The corn and chicken dumpling were great too, I think I like them the most. The wonton skin are also thin and the spicy sauce is not too spicy. I think the hot and sour soup can be more sour. But overall everything were amazing.

It's been a little while since I've popped into a BD - but was a nice surprise here in San Jose area. This was much larger than the one in SoCal (Torrance) near my home - and it was filled nearly all tables at 2pm on a Thursday afternoon- always a good sign! I tried the rice bowl with braised pork belly and it was quite delicious- since I hadn't seen that on my local home menu recently. Food was ready in 2-3 minutes and service was quick and efficient. A great alternative to get something "fast" and yet feel bit healthier than most other places and options. Will be back to try the noodles next time (and some dumplings which I know are always great!)

Very spacious with high ceilings, quick service, takeout concept but indoor seating, self-serve drinks and sauce station. Food: . Set 4 (Signature Noodles, Signature Potstickers) - flavorful, tolerable spice, noodles can be a bit oily from the chili oil near the end. Wish the dumplings was crispy on both sides. . Beef Noodles - flavorful, savory, would definitely get this again~

Fast food style Chinese food. Good portions for low prices. Lots of seating inside and packaged nicely to take to-go as well. However don't have high expectations because the food is mid; it's just meant to fill you up. If you're craving something like din tai fung but don't want to splurge or wait in line then this place is for you.

We knew to go early, since they don't take reservations and we often see lines outside. We arrived at 10:30am and the front manager said if we can be done my 12:30, that they had a table for us. Party of 12, since we got there early, we agreed. The side room had the biggest round table for us. They ask you what kind of tea you want, we like chrysanthemum tea. You order the items on the paper menu and it comes to your table. So we got going on the orders and TBH, we must be hungry, because we did a lot of orders (we had plenty of left overs). Tried some favorites and a few new items that we thought were unique to their restaurant. My dad has to order crispy noodle and chow fun, and we also ordered chicken fried rice. The service was prompt and attentive, with enough servers to take care of the side room. Since it was the "sun room", the sun was shining through the windows and it was bright. Review from my parents: it was just meh, they prefer the other place near our house. I think the food is good, but probably won't come back again with a big group of us, since they don't have many big round tables. And personally, I prefer the whole experience of the ladies coming around with their carts. Perhaps their dinner menu is also worth trying. Bonus for us is that we can literally walk to this restaurant. Parking could be an issue if you come later.

We stopped by for dinner with a large group of friends and family for a celebration on Friday. We had specified to our waiter that toddler is allergic to eggs and had asked him which dish does not contain any egg. He seemed flippant about my concerns, but eventually suggested beef chow fun and that it did not contain egg. Great - let's order that for my kid. When the dish came out, I served my son first so there's no cross-contamination from our other guests and had only fed my son from his plate with his set of utensils that I brought from home. Mid-way through our meal, his face had turned red and splotchy, which was a sign that he was having a reaction (we recognize it from previous visits with the doctor). We quickly stopped feeding his meal and observed his symptoms to see if would escalate. Our toddler ended up feeling very sick soon after and we left promptly. His reaction escalated and he proceeded to projectile vomit everywhere moments after leaving. Such a terrible and frightening experience. I hope this review just changes how the restaurant handles food allergies as they could have potentially been life threatening.

So we ordered 4 dim sum items off the menu. No one told us how long it would take to get these items. We ordered traditional dim sum items and at most dim sum places it would just take a few minutes. But after 20 minutes, nothing had arrived. We asked one of the workers and he angrily told us it takes a long time to prepare them. After 5 minutes one item showed up. But after waiting 20 minutes we decided to leave. As we were paying the bill, another item showed up so we just took it home. Plenty of private rooms to dine in, 2 humongous TV, and plenty to space esp for a wedding. Well, we reserved for a party of 24. Placed our order, but the food took a while to come out. It did not seem so busy for a Friday night around 7:30pm. There were plenty of tables available. When our first dish came out, it was the fish maw soup. Which is usually eaten with red vinegar and white pepper, but there was none on our table. We asked for white pepper 3x and no one brought it to us. The soup ended up being ao bland, the only bland dish for the night, because everything else we ordered are SALTY!!!!! SALTY! SALTY! SALTY! We ordered 2 of everything bc we had to 2 tables. Thefried shrimp, SALTY! Honey walnut shrimp, SALTY! Expensive lobster with noodle, SALTY! A few tofu dishes, SALTY! Clams were okay. I forgot what else we ordered, but it was SALTY! And I wasn't the only one who felt this way. Service was HORRIBLE!! I had to ask for water for 3 different people, I order in English and Chinese, and still nothing. The white pepper we asked showed up around the end of meal. I'm not sure if all the staff were new, but it was horrible service. Especially for a $1,000 meal, we want better service, just asking for the bare minimum. Will not be attending again.
