Bafang opened up 5 min from work so I had to be there first day of soft opening. I got there at 11:30am and the line was at the door. Took about 30 min to order and food was ready in 15-20 min. My friend's order was ready in 10 min. Fast forward to a month later, they have online ordering available! They'll deactivate it when it's too busy, but order early and you can grab & go! Pro tip: park at the garage across the street and walk over. The place is spacious and bright. Plenty of seating. They have two lines: center is for dumplings, potstickers, noodles, soup, etc. The left side of the shop has a line for the box lunches/dinners. Choose carbs: -fried rice -steamed rice -stir fried noodles *get it "ba so mi" style topped with bean sprouts & braised pork belly! Bafang has locations throughout California, particularly in SoCal. This Santa Clara location is the first in the Bay Area. The plaza has plenty of parking, and inside there is a lot of seating, so it does not feel cramped even when busy, but note they do not have tables for huge groups over 4 people, was funny seeing the group of 6 people squeezing in the table next to me. The soup was good and flavorful without being overly salty, which I appreciated. The portions of meat and noodles felt on the smaller side, especially considering it served in a wide bowl filled with a lot of soup. It does somewhat look generous in portions at first, but it does not quite match the shallow bowl depth. The potstickers were tasty, but were surprisingly tiny. I could easily eat 12 pieces on my own whereas 6 pieces would normally be enough at other spots for an appetizer. Since this is a new location, everything feels efficient and well run. I received my food within 5 minutes of ordering despite the restaurant being packed. The staff is quick and knows what they are doing. The tables are kept clean and the staff usually give some freebie to kids. The restaurant self service, so be prepared to grab your food, utensils, sauces, and to clear your own table. As a customer, what I dislike the most is when employees clearly see you standing there for a long time but avoid making eye contact or asking if you need assistance. I am a regular customer of this restaurant because the food is very good. Today, I ordered three meals and arrived about 20 minutes later, which is normally when my order is ready for pickup. When I arrived, there were two employees at the front, a female cashier and a male employee preparing orders. While I was standing in the pickup area waiting for my food, the male employee consistently avoided eye contact and never once asked if I needed help. He seemed more focused on looking toward the kitchen rather than acknowledging customers waiting at the pickup counter. During the 20 minutes I waited, I saw several orders placed after mine already completed and ready for pickup, but no one updated me about my order. When I finally got my food, I checked the order and discovered that a soup was missing. I immediately informed the cashier, she quickly brought the missing soup to me. However, between the long wait, being ignored while standing in the pickup area, and then receiving an incomplete order, the overall experience was very disappointing. I hope the restaurant can improve staff training and customer service to prevent situations like this in the future. read more

The potstickers were not good in my opinion, as it barely had a crunch and the filling was pretty flavorless. It was honestly disappointing. The noodles were good. They had a spicy mala sauce and the texture of the noodles was good Overall, I'd give this meal a 5/10. Some bad, some good which balances it out to be average. There was a lot of excitement around Bafang opening up here -- it's a well-known spot in Taiwan and their SoCal locations are loved too -- but unfortunately it was a bit disappointing for me. We tried the beef noodle soup, fried pork chop, and the Bafang signature potstickers (pork & cabbage). The beef noodle soup was too sweet for my taste, and the pork chop had the same overly sweet flavor. The potstickers were the best of the three, but even then, it really wasn't anything special. I was really hoping this Taiwanese spot would hit the mark, but it just didn't. It's a casual dining setup where you order at the counter and seating is first-come-first-serve. Most of their food items come in disposable containers as well. I might come back to try a few other dishes, but it's not a place I'd go out of my way for. read more

We finally tried this new Ba Fang in Santa Clara. I had first heard about this chain when I went to the one in San Diego and the food was pretty good. Today I ordered combo #1 with 12 potstickers and a bowl of Corn chowder and my husband ordered the beef noodle soup. The portions were pretty good. Yes the pot stickers are not crunchy (from another review), but it was still tasty. The beef noodle soup is not as flavorful as Duan Chun Zhen, but I liked that they didn't overcook the meat and the taste is fairly Taiwanese. It was way better than Mian in Cupertino which we just had a few days ago. The soup was not so salty! We got here before 11:30am on a Saturday and parking was not too easy. Next time we may need to try the parking structure across the street. There were a lot of families with younger children and tables were full. Glad to see that Bafang has expanded to the Bay! A solid spot for some quick Taiwanese food and dumplings. There was a line to order when we arrived and the restaurant was quite crowded, but the line moved quickly and service was fast. The lady behind me advised against the kimchi potstickers. She said they were too oily and for potstickers you have to eat them on site or they are no good. Pretty spacious, fast service, good food. Great option if you're in a rush as all the food is packaged in Togo containers. You order at the front and you will also pick up your food from the front. Tables are first come first serve. They have combo selections when you order from their website for pick up, but it isn't on doordash. I was so stoked to hear that Bafang was opening their first NorCal location. While pregnant in 2024, my husband and I made a day trip down to SoCal for Bafang Dumplings. The cravings were real ha! Their original potstickers, beef noodle soup, and pork chop bento/combo are what I'd recommend ordering. It is super easy to order ahead for pickup. Service has been quick and friendly every time I've visited. The only downside is the horrid parking situation, but this isn't the restaurant's fault. Came here for the soft opening and it was quite busy. We waited in line for 20 minutes, considering the line, it was fast, and efficient. Food took about another 20 minutes but it was delicious! Kind of busy. There's a feeling that everything is kind of manufactured here and that packaging is more important than the product. Even if you order to eat here, they package all dumplings and pot stickers into two go boxes, which to me kind of seems like an environmental waste. Second, the dumplings definitely are not all that. The fried potstickers are long and skinny, and often are not seared for long enough. The menu has very limited vegetarian options - just veggie dumplings. There is also hot and sour soup and beef noodle soup. The food is generally fantastic if you're coming in hungry from a night out drinking, otherwise, I don't think I will be a regular here, it's just not that impressive or healthy. Came here around 7pm, pretty packed, we couldn't find seating inside so we went outside. You place your order through the cashier and they give you a buzzer. They give you a drink cup if you got one and when your food is ready the buzzer will go off, and you pick up your food on the tray, there is utensils and napkins on the side to pick it up. There is a soda fountain, and you can pick garlic, sesame oil, soy sauce, and chili oil as well. We got the combo #1 hot and sour soup, which was good to sip on since we were outside, and signature dumplings. We also got spicy wontons and a drink. Bafang Santa Clara was the first Bafang to open up in the bay area so of course I had to come and check it out. It is located inside a popular plaza, but to start off the parking is just insane. There was literally no parking and I circled around for 10 minutes throughout. Once I got inside the restaurant, the decorations were nice and white with plenty of sunlight coming in. There was a big line for the food and although the restaurant is of a nice size, there were plenty of people standing around waiting for a table. You go up to the counter and order with a buzzer, when the buzzer vibrates to bring the food to your own table sort of thing. I ordered: Combo 6 (Beef Dry Noodle + Soda) - 3 out of 5 This was basically a blend of beef and sauce with noodles and some cucumbers. There were plenty of noodles inside but the sauce was saltier then what I would have preferred so this was not my favorite. The beef was okay but nothing really unique here. My wife got: Combo 8 (Bafang Pork Chop + Old Fashioned Noodle + Soda) - 3 out of 5 The pork chop was okay. It wasn't bad but it wasn't special either. If you have experienced Taiwanese styled pork chop, this would be typical and wouldn't be at the level of "unique" unfortunately. They could have invested in the recipe further to make it a blowout here but unfortunately this wouldn't be it. The overall feel to me while eating at Bafang is let's do a replica of what's typical back in Taiwan and it'll sell. Unfortunately due to the amount of competitions in the area that does the same items either identically or even better that I truly believe Bafang is going to struggle through time. Besides eating here purely from nostalgia with Taiwan, there's really nothing too special here while you'll be paying between $15-$17 for a combo. Will I come back? It's very cool and a great addition to have Bafang Dumpling in the South Bay Area. Excellent location with lots of parking spots in back. Yes, tipping is optional since you carry your own trays and grab your own utensils & condiments. Building has high ceilings, it's brightly lit up with natural window lighting, has relaxing vibes, spacious, and great for many groups. Today, I went with my own side dish picks: Bafang Signature Noodle $7.95, Small Corn Chowder $4.50 (regular), Chili Pepper Fried Chicken $9.25, and Spicy Wonton $6.95. I wasn't disappointed at all. Everything looked good and tasted great, at least for the American casual street food appetites. Taiwanese folks would want this to be much more authentic like ones in Taiwan, but it's catered for American markets. It's not cheap foods here for sure, especially if you order the meal sets or bento stuff. A very satisfying full meal may be around $30 here, unless you are satisfied with $20 range. Bafang Signature Noodle was too long in length, but tasted great. I think they need to cut it up for easier portion sizes to swallow. It took me awhile to break the noodles apart with my chopstick and fork. Very long stretch size for noodles. Corn chowder ingredients turned out much better than expected. You can easily share the regular small size cup with another person. Chili Pepper Fried Chicken is a must try. Loved the flavors and side vinaigrette. Tasty. Spicy wonton is good for my tastebuds. The flavors are not bad but some of our food came out lukewarm, but we were able to get some of them remade. 11/15/2025 came here for the opening and try their dish as I love beef noodle soup. Line was long for the soft opening and the employees were all very welcoming. The inside was spacious with plenty of seating. The big glass windows make it super bright inside. It is kind of like fast food instead of a restaurant, where you order and pick up your own order. food: hot n sour soup: slightly inconsistent, got it in two different days. One day was more sour than the other. The hot aspect was not really there. The veggie cuts were also on the thicker side. Not the best soup I've had Dumplings: They were decent, and I liked how they came out crisp. It was definitely something I would come back for. Beef noodle soup: I think it was okay. Bafang Dumpling gives me food hall vibes but nice and bright, with better Chinese/ Taiwanese comfort food. They have different plate combos to choose from which made it easy to order. Tried their Beef Noodle Soup and you can taste the beef in the broth but not too overpowering. It's light but tasty enough. Also it's not too oily. There were significant meats in the bowl. The bowl size is also bigger than the average. I got the pork to go and it's a tasty dish. The pork is also soft and easy to chew on. The breading is a good ratio to the pork. More meat than the batter. Service was fast. You order on the counter and they'll give you your number and wait for it to be available for pick up. Went here on a weeknight and it's pretty packed. Came on Saturday at 11:00am, and it wasn't too crowded yet. Parking also wasn't too terrible - but with this being in a court with other stores such as a Whole Foods, I could see it getting packed fast. We ordered the signature dumplings (12 pieces), signature potstickers (12 pieces), corn chowder, and beef noodle soup. Total with tax before tip was about $50. I was surprised that the beef noodle soup cost about $19 - pretty costly. It also didn't taste the same as when I tried it at one of the SoCal Bafang locations. But the corn chowder, dumplings and potstickers were delicious and reminded me of home (Taiwan). The interior is spacious with a lot of seating - but again, it was already 90% full at 11am, so I imagine it being very packed closer to noon. So if you can, come earlier to enjoy the food! Popular Taiwan chain expanding into the US in force! The name translates to "gathering from all 8 direction like cloud rolling in." Dumping is the quintessential Chinese comfort food. There are as many variations as people making it. They are usually boiled or pan fried. Their version is pretty good, a bit gingery and not as meaty. Fried pork chop was tender and well seasoned. I like it a lot. The 乾扮麵 "dry toss noodles" (as opposed to soup noodles) was satisfyingly spicy. They operate simply: you go to the counter to order, they give you a buzzer, you find a place to sit on your own and wait for the buzzer. As it is popular, the tables become a rare commodity. I was waiting for this location to open up in the bay!! I had this in socal and could wait for this to open up. My favorite here are always the dumplings, plus there's a sauce station for your own preference. The beef noodle soup is always a classic pick here! It was my first time trying out the Signature noodle, at first it's a little dry and spicy, but as long as you mix it, the noodles loosen up in the sauce. I came here twice within 4 days and thought it was worth waiting in line for both times. We first came around 6pm on Saturday night, and there was hardly any parking in the entire lot even through to the other end by Il Fornaio. It seemed like there were two cars in every row just waiting for a spot. Inside there was a long line with all the tables occupied and people hovering over tables waiting for other people eating to leave so that they could take their spot. The line to order moves pretty quickly and the food didn't take long to be ready after ordering. There's a lot of tables so even though there's a lot of people, people are constantly coming and leaving so it wasn't too hard to find a place to sit both times. It's probably harder to find seating for groups larger than 4. I tried the signature potstickers, signature noodles, beef dry noodles, and pork chop with pork belly rice. Everything was really good!
