Looking for a quick bite, we went by fellow Yelpers reviews, and in a rare 1-off, found this place to be unremarkable. We both got a bagel sammie, and the eggs were half-black from a grill that obviously needed cleaning, maybe from use from the day before. Bagels were fresh, but nothing out of the ordinary. Kind of feel like we wasted a good bagel opportunity . . . Cheers! RS

Bagel Buffet was one of the few places right by Union Square that serves an everything bagel with egg, cheese, and sausage, and they're available at lunchtime! I was nursing a craving for this specific but popular breakfast sandwich but was sad (and surprised) by how hard it was to find a place that would satisfy it. The bagel unfortunately had some burned bits on it but was otherwise good. There was a pretty thick sausage, fluffy egg, and good amount of cheese--and it was only $4.60! (It ended up being $4.20 after using a college ID for 10% off.) While I wouldn't recommend coming out of the way to get a bagel here over one of the famous bagel shops, I think Bagel Buffet deserves a solid 4 stars for a cheap sandwich that checks all the boxes! :)

I've lived around the corner from Bagel Buffet for almost a year and I'm sad to say that it took me this long to try it! The number of times I've passed it on the way to Murray's bagels is embarrassing. The staff is nice and service is quick! I got The everything bagel with egg cheese and sausage, toasted with a fresh squeezed OJ for a little under $8! This hit the spot & i will def be back!

Super quick bagel spot! Very soft and tasty bagels. Limited seatings, but several different bagel options. Very quick service and friendly staff. Coffee is pretty good.

Bagel Buffet NY Manhattan Union Square/Greenwich Village 1pm BagelSunday 31st January 2016 Three Stars This small place served up an okay bagel. They didn't have Salt Bagels. Grant got an everything Bagel with Bacon, Eggs, and Cheese. I had Chorizo, Eggs, and Cheese on an Egg Bagel. They were smaller than usual. The eggs were freshly cracked and cooked. The meat was lacking and cheese was barely melted. Overall, it was okay but definitely a quicker alternative to Murrays Bagels down the street.

    Run!

Do not take this place for a real bagel shop. It's not. They have a basic selection of starchy bagels, though I don't know where they are trucked in from... the word 'bagel' shouldn't even be in their name (it's more of a quick/greasy lunch & sandwich joint). I think they offer nova salmon, but I didn't trust it here. I'll save my craving for another venue. Would I return? Ha. There are too many good (& legitimate) options nearby, at least for breakfast. Lunch? I'll pass. I don't know who is boosting this place with 4-5 stars, but whoever it is, please stop comparing places to the Path Station holes you frequent. Come above ground, come up for air, and treat yourself better. Don't give a place 5 stars just because their dingy fluorescent bulbs aren't burned out.

I think this is really me...and I'M in NYC! I live right around the block from Bagel Buffet, which has performed splendidly over the years. Love their tuna, egg, grilled cheese sandwiches on toasted bagels. Have lots of great, unusual salads and cream cheese specialties, as well as burgers and meat sandwiches. Since the pandemic and the warmer weather, Bagel Buffet has set up a small outdoor dining area...very cute and decorated with beautiful and real plants. New furniture also selected by only woman working there. And you can sit there forever. Here are some pictures.

It was fine. The food tasted fine but this bagel was certainly not up to snuff as far as NY bagels are concerned

We ordered 2 Knicks themed bagels with cream cheese and 2 plain Knicks themed bagels to go. The bagel with cream cheese was so soft and delicious. Literally melted in your mouth. Perfect texture, something NYC can proudly own about our bagels, and the cream cheese was just right! I thoroughly enjoyed it. Visit June 2026: I'm…read moreadmittedly not a bagel expert but when in NYC a bagel is a must. Supposedly so is eating a street hot dog but I'm not too sure on that lol. Anyways, the girls had bookmarked another bagel establishment but the line was hella long like they were giving away Knicks gear for free. Ironically another "bagel shop" search on Yelp showed PopUp Bagels was like three doors down lol. No line! That in itself was making me question but there is a PopUp in San Diego that my daughter swears by. PopUp advertised itself as "Not Famous, but known." Whether or not this bagel is better than the one store three doors up is something I cannot attest to. However I can say THIS WAS A DANG GOOD BAGEL! And it was freshly made! How do I know? It literally burned my fingers when I ripped it open! The pain was worth it. Outside, a slightly crisp texture generously coated with "Everything". Inside was a dense and chewy dough that was pliable but able to withstand the dipping and shmearing of cream cheese (which was smooth). Best I have ever had for sure but then again my most common bagel experience is the place named after a scientist where tons of bagels are sitting in bins for who knows how long. So why wasn't this a 5-star experience? One, I only ate one thing. Two, sevice and setting are "just there". Considering it wasn't busy I would expect a bit more of a welcome. To eat you're bagel you can full on just leave, sit at the three stools inside where it is super hot (bc hey they actually cook), or three stand outside. There is a little, I'll say "patio", where you can stand, eat, and true story, watch two people argue about who gets to sort through the recyclables from the neighborhood eateries. Snack and a show???? I just stood near the door and enjoyed my bagel.

The bagel itself is pretty solid. It's fluffy and got a nice texture to it. Honestly though, I'm…read morenot sure I really fugg with the whole concept. You cannot order a single bagel, you must order your bagels in 3s. So if you're not a big back and instead are a loser with no friends, you might have more bagels than you can eat. The bagels come whole and you're supposed to rip them and dip them into the cream cheese, and there's many smears to choose from, which is a plus. However, this requires a two hand situation, which means it's difficult to eat on the go, and the seating inside is limited. I did not realize this at first and I was trying to slice my bagel in half with a butter knife, and I failed and started ripping it to shreds in a fit of passion and rage. That when I saw their neon sign that says "GRIP. RIP. DIP," which sounds sexual, and realized that's the concept and intention. My advice--if you're gonna visit, come with a couple friends so you can try the bagels without having to eat 3. And bring hand sanitizer so you're not ripping up the bagel with your filthy subway fingers.
