I spoke with one of the gentleman managers, who was extremely kind and supportive. Tijuana Taxi has helped us in the past, and he immediately said they could do something again this year. Their machine was down, so he asked me to come back. I returned yesterday because I had specifically been asked to do so. When I came back, I spoke with the office manager, and I found the way she spoke to me to be very rude and upsetting. I was even more disappointed to learn that she later told the gentleman manager that I had been rude and was demanding gift cards. That is not what happened. I was simply explaining that I had returned because I had been asked to come back regarding a donation that had already been offered. I completely understand that no business is ever obligated to donate, and I would never demand a donation from anyone. If they had changed their mind, I would have respected that. My disappointment is entirely with how I was treated and how the interaction was later described. I do want to make clear that the gentleman manager I originally spoke with was wonderful, kind, and gracious. Unfortunately, the way my return visit was handled left me feeling very disappointed.
