I've wanted to try and like Bakery Lorraine for sometime now but after my experience here, I have to say that it was a big let down. The inside vibe is great. There's a modern and industrial feel with cool artwork that I appreciate but I can't say that I appreciate the food. The Cuban sandwich was good taste wise. The bread was nice and toasty, cheese all melted, and the pickle slices inside were a nice touch and worked well with the pork inside. However, I was disappointed with the portion size of pork. Basically there was one slice of pork loin and one slice of ham and that was it. It was like I was a child again and my mom needed to ration out cold cuts for the week because we were running low and she wouldn't be able to make it to the market until much later on in the week. If you have ever had a true Cuban sandwich, this one is not for you. Not everything here was negative though. My girlfriend ordered the quiche and it was great! It was eggy, cheesy, and full of bacon. The crust could use some work but it was still great! I would certainly get this again if I were to come back. Finally, there is no other way for me to say this but the croissant was horrendous. If I could give the croissant zero stars I would. It was dry, stale, and the outer layer was so thick and nothing like what a true croissant is supposed to be. For the price of one low quality croissant, I could've purchased a box of good quality croissants at Costco. Overall I'm not sure if I'll be back and my feelings are still a bit mixed about Bakery Lorraine. read more

And he repeated himself just as rudely because I didn't respond fast enough. So as I tried to respond that I had permission, he stomped away and went behind the counter and proceeded to mean mug me! Great place in the Pearl for coffee and pastries! The pastries are not only beautiful to look at but very good. Nice wide open space with tons of seating. Good for groups. We only had three in our party but sat at the long communal type table next to the line for the bar. Nice decor as well, we loved the tiles they chose for the espresso We were there at an off time for pastry and coffee so it was about half full and the noise level was low. I can imagine due to the open floor plan and high ceilings it can get noisy during a rush, but not in a bad way. There were also quite a few outdoor tables as well. They have a large variety of pastries to choose from and we were all pleased with our selections. I got the house made "pop tart" and it was excellent. I'm the type that if I do eat pop tarts I break off all the crust that doesn't have frosting because it has no flavor. That was not a problem here at all. The pastry crust was very good, as it should be. M surprised I haven't seen more bakeries do their own pop tart, it's a great idea. Good coffee, we had two cold brews and a cappuccino between us. The sugar and creamer bar had what I thought was simple sugar (liquid sugar) which I think should be a staple at any coffee shop serving iced coffee. Usually this place is great but the new management is doing a poor job with training employees. I wait over 30 minutes for an iced coffee. When I went up to the register to inquire the employees realized they forgot my order and then placed me back in the queue for another 20 minutes. They could have easily made my iced coffee but instead had me wait longer. Poor poor management. I'll look for another place for my coffee read more

Some of the items are a little pricey, but still delicious. Great selection of macaroons and pastries. They had one of the best fruit tarts I've had in a while! And after eating it, I will say, it was worth every penny. Lots of seating indoors and outside. And the line will move fast, so don't be discouraged if you see one. The strawberry pop pastry & the Mexican hot chocolate cookie were for sure the standouts! They're the must try's! The cinnamon latte was very good and so cute but be warned it is NOT sweetened! I live and San Francisco, and as I am about to write this review, I am realizing that I am a total "bakery snob". A little background here -- SF is home to some of the very best french bakeries in the country and I have tried nearly all of them, most more than a few times, so I know of what I speak. I sent my husband down for some breakfast pastries. He said the line was very long and organized, but that they way the line works - you can't see what all they offer b/c you have to order before you pass by all of the pastries in the cases. We had done our research and I had sent him to get me a raspberry pastry, and a hot cocoa. He came back with an almond croissant for himself. It was fine, but it lacked that special something - the extra note of texture. I like my french pastries flaky AND soft & tender. This was mostly just crispy flaky. My husband's croissant also lacked the chewy tender aspect. It also weighed about 1/2 pound, which just seems wrong for a delicate french pastry. Later in the day we both walked by this place - and there was still a line out the door. I will say the egg salad in the Yelp photos looks like perfection! read more

This place was, meh, ok. Nothing too memorable to be honest, just an average basic "bakery". The patisseries seem to be frozen and boxed, I saw the workers unloading the sweets from a box into the display. Honestly, the outside seems to be like a mom and pop shop with fresh sweetness and drinks but it's not - quite deceiving! Needless to say, the interior and decor is impeccable! The sweets were eaten by family and they enjoyed it much. They said it was very delicious. The lemon cake was very sweet. The coffee was basic tbh. I asked for a brewed coffee but the cashier kept trying to get me to make it a latte or cappuccino, and as a coffee drinker I took that as a hint of something fishy, so I asked when was coffee last brewed and she checked and told me not recently. I honestly am happy she was sincere, so I went for that latte lol. The latte was ok. I noticed a couple that sat in front of us and they were there for the longest. They waited about 30 mins for their simple dishes. Honestly, the kitchen is apart from where the coffee and patisseries are served so not sure why that couple waited so long for their food. I've been here a few times picking up orders for UberEats but finally got a chance to sit down and give it a try! I got the french toast and a side of bacon with a bottle of water. It totaled $22 as it's an a la carte type of place. I had a seat outside with the number they have me and my food was delivered about ten minutes later. The french toast was on some pretty thick bread with some fruit and some sort of sauce. The crisp on that french toast was everything! It was savory, the sauce lite but I still needed the syrup. I also got the peanut butter chocolate chip cookie and a regular chocolate chip but those are for later! The staff is really nice and attentive and I see them cleaning and sanitizing. read more

Beautiful ambiance. Very clean and great service! Stopped for lunch before an event at the Pearl because I was starving and I knew this place and its menu would not disappoint. Quick line. Quick turn around on receiving my order. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, even during a busy day at the Pearl. The sandwiches are delicious and made on very buttered bread! The servings are massive and it is easy to have lunch and leftovers. The amount of chips included with a sandwich order is generous. I'm actually hungry again just thinking about that sandwich! The red peppers added a wonderful flavor to the chicken and the pesto tasted fresh. Everything blended well and the cheese was just the perfect addition to hold it all together. I love Bakery Lorraine. I used to live in San Antonio and now whenever I come to visit, I HAVE to go here. I've had their macaroons, fruit tart, salad, and matcha latte on various occasions and each one of these items are so good that it'll make you wanna smack your grandma! What makes me want Bakery Lorraine every time I'm in town is their chef salad. This salad... it's chefs kiss. Just writing about it is making my mouth water. Wish I didn't live so far away from this place. It's also located at the Pearl and the place itself offers indoor and outdoor seating, it's quite a large space. We bought a chocolate tart of some kind home with us and it is buttery, ooye gooey, perfection! The moon pie is good too but messy to eat because the frosting pushes out when you eat it. The kale Caesar salad was a fun take on another classic. I liked the chicken salad sandwich as well but it could use a little more of the greens, in my opinion, because the salad mixture itself is on the saltier side.
