I don't know how I didn't know about this place until a few months ago. I am a foodie, and I love my sweets. I came across a post mentioning Bakery Nouveau and had to try it. Since I discovered BN, I have been back many times, and I love 30 miles away. Everything I have tried here has been exceptional, from the most soft and buttery croissant sandwiches to their chocolate cake and beyond. Their customer service is always so excellent! This has to be one of the best chocolate almond croissants I've ever had! Air fry/ bake these delicious treats for a couple of minutes and watch the dark chocolate melt inside with the almond butter filling and the top crispy exterior melt in your mouth with every bite!! Final food destination of the trip! Conveniently, this outpost of Bakery Nouveau was located close to our hotel by the airport, so we really loaded up before catching our flight. Here's the thing with this place: the food is OUTSTANDING (and worth waiting for), the staff is fantastically helpful and kind, and yet...the logistical operation/function is downright lunacy and idiocy. Let's start with the aforementioned poor layout/planning. You wait on the line, that's simple enough to figure out, and then once you get inside by the counter, you're IMMEDIATELY asked what you would like to order. However, you've only seen, like, 10% of the display case at that point, so you have to wait until you mosey down the line to get the full gist of what's available. You pay out, no problem there, and then huddle by the coffee station to get your drinks. There is a HUGE backspace area that is empty where small cafe tables could easily go...but the folks here decide that would be too much of a luxury for the denizens of Seattle, so you have to go back outside and sit in the fine Pacific Northwest mizzle. Is there ANYTHING set up outside to help the customer? Something such as, oh...say....a garbage can? No! Is there a garbage can near the door? No! You have to go through the throng to get to the only one by the coffee station, which is also the only place dispersing napkins. This whole kafkaesque setup screams: Get your pastries and get the hell out of here! But you know what? Some of us would like to sit down in the heat inside and enjoyed the goodies that we just paid a pretty penny for! If not for such a customer UNfriendly situation, we would have happily given them five stars. Now the good stuff: almost everything we ordered! Our least favorite items were the chocolates which were a bit too buttery for our tastes and the filling of the macarons, which was more like raw cake batter. But still, both items were good and we loved the yuzu and lavender flavors in the chocolates, and especially enjoyed the pistachio and blood orange macarons (there were more ordered....). The breakfast croissant is not to be missed!!! And they heated it up, which made it extra divine with the flakiness contrasting with the warmth of the meat and eggs. SO decadent and so good. Another sleeper hit: the Zebra cake (black and white cake with a thin chocolate shell), which was better than you could find in a NYC deli. On the plane, we shared the ham and cheese baguette, and it was perfection with the hint of mustard and cornichons. Our daughter ate most of a mini pretzel which was wonderfully cooked with just the right amount of chew. So, overall, the food here was memorable and special; we only wish that they cared more about the customer experience in their actual space. It was quick stop this time and just picked up a couple of sweet treats like macarons, a danish and croissants . Also tried their cardamon spiced latte -not sure if they offer all the time but it was around the holidays( I know a little late on the review) but amazing to say the least! Love this bakery. Been here twice during my 3 days visit to Seattle-Federal Way area. Everything we had was amazing. We love the quiche and the hot sandwiches. We also logged out on the desserts and pastries. Had the twice baked almost croissants and chocolate almond croissants. The cinnamon rolls were decadent. I had to bring many of the pastries home with me because my eyes are definitely bigger than my stomach. Will definitely stop here again next time I'm in the area. I read earlier about the grand opening of Bakery Nouveau from Eater Seattle. I've visited the West Seattle and Capitol Hill sites, but never even been to Burien. Ages ago I got lost in Burien from SeaTac Airport. It's been on my radar screen of tasty places to checkout based on strong Yelp reviews of several other restaurants. But the thought of driving from work (Lynnwood to Burien) or from home (Shoreline to Burien) sent visions of traffic hell. This from the individual who drove to/from Edison to checkout Breadfarm on a whim or rode Amtrak to go only to Powell Books and Voodoo Doughnuts in Portland. Go figure. Earlier this morning, the college friend texted me about Bakery Nouveau. Hmmm, there's a window of opportunity and we could use the express and HOV lanes heading southbound. That got me out of bed, into the shower, and out the door in record time! She kindly played navigator as we joined all the other Sunday drivers on I-5 South (10/1/17). We snagged one of the available parking spots (cool art nouveau mural) and joined the long line of other like minded individuals. Definitely the largest location of the three establishments. OMG the pastry cases of epic patisserie/boulangerie/viennoiserie/chocolaterie = food porn! Looks like eventually ice cream or gelato also. Artisan breads, pastries, cookies, cakes, quiches, sandwiches, pizza, guaranteed return visits. Beautiful fresh flowers. A trophy reminder of Chef Leaman's Coupe du Monde win. Floor cutout to view chocolate production below. Piles of chocolate blocks through the windows of the other production area. Large mixers like I saw in France. Speed racks of even more baked products to refill the pastry cases. It's a good thing I didn't order an espresso drink. Sensory overload from this visit for this baking fanatic! Best things included a little kid who was knee high, who cut in front of me by the macaron display, palms outstretched exclaiming 'chockit!!!' I agreed but pointed out to him the collection of handmade chocolates and truffles below. To which he loudly shrieked and chanted ecstatically 'CHOCKIT!!!!' A young one with a great eye and knows what he wants! The other one was later handing the fresh baguette to The Homie when I got home (see Yelp photo posted), pretty much sums that up. Total boulangerie bliss! Counter person had an excellent memory of what I recited to purchase: one baguette, two twice baked almond croissants, one pain au chocolat, one slice L'Opera cake, one slice Praline Dream, one turkey havarti croissant, and a Junction croissant. Despite the line out the door, the counter staff were pleasant, efficient, and not a hint of looking frazzled. The Junction croissant I ate onsite and hands down one of the best breakfast sandwiches ever! Contained melted cheese, slice of ham and the fluffliest scrambled eggs. It is a good thing I live far from all three Bakery Nouveau sites! Maybe some day Chef Leaman would consider a northend location. Yeah, traffic bit heading back north most likely from the upcoming Seahawks home game against the Colts. But my car trunk contained an amazing haul of the best carbs! One of my favorite bakeries, and I'm so glad they opened this one in addition to their West Seattle and Capitol Hill locations! They have a great selection of pastries and baked goods, and your average coffee menu. The twice-baked almond croissants are definitely my go-to. Parking is easy to find as there is a lot alongside the building and street parking in front. There is outside and indoor seating usually available, but this has been closed due to covid-19. The bakery has also implemented required masks and social distancing markers on the floor to help keep customers and employees safe! read more

The bakery was easy to find and smells amazing when coming out of my car. The staff did a amazing job at serving me. I was able to get what I wanted and leave quickly. I have preordered a strawberry cheese cake for my aunts birthday. I separately bought some chocolate swirl cookies and a pound cake also. As I got home I set up everything and it looks delicious. We cut into the cake and that's where the problem is... it was super moist still like it and it looks like they didn't have enough time to fridge it. The cheese was sticking on to the knife and it was just gliding through the cake so easily. The next problem was the taste it was super mushy and sweet. If you're diabetic I don't suggest this place. Very fancy bakery. I needed to pick up dessert for a pot luck at my office, and wanted something special. With so much to choose from, I went with the safe choice of cookies, because of some of my folks at work prefer the tried and true. Every cookie was amazing, but I really fell for the Snickerdoodle. Going into Bakery Nouveau one is met with a wide range of smells and and sights, with delicacies and sandwiches for the taste buds to enjoy. We got French bread, which we used to have a southwest turkey and cheese sandwich, the bread had a crunchy outside with a soft inside-simply perfection. We had our pastries the day after with our tea, the dough was soft and one could taste all of the flavors and the intricate attention to detail in making the pastries was felt with every bite. The bakery offers seating towards the right side which helps maintain a clear aisle way for those walking around the bakery. A rectangular glass peep hole in the middle of the bakery, which shows the making of the ingredients used for the many foods that try to grab your attention. Bakery Nouveau has got to be one of the best bakeries around. They specialize in French pastry, breads, fine chocolates, macarons, and coffee and they have got it down to the T. I recommend the twice baked almond croissants, Turkey and Havarti croissant sandwich, pepperoni pizza, and the chocolate bread loaf. This bakery is very consistent when it comes to the quality of food however I would like to mention their customer service could be improved. At this location in particular I always find that the many of the staff members seem to be a snarky with the customers and unappreciative of the business. I don't believe the entire staff is like this as I have had many nice experiences but my friends, family and I have all had enough negative experiences here to say it's a trend. As I mentioned, the food is incredible so I won't stop coming here but the negative experiences have deterred me from spending much more money and time here. read more

Hands down, my favorite bakery! They've implemented social distancing guidelines, so be prepared to wait in line outside. Prior to Covid, it was common for customers to huddle against strangers, skip line, and push people out of the way to get an early view of baked goods, so the guidelines have surprisingly altered *most* people's behavior for the better. That aside, the baked goods are SUPERB. If you like sweets and only try one item, then I highly recommend the Twice Baked Croissant. Please not that all of the croissants are flaky (messy) and delicious. Their fresh baked bread options are currently limited - I recommend the challah, rosemary, and/or oat. They have a large selection of handmade chocolates, macaroons, individual cake slices, whole cakes, and cookies. The cookies are large, with crisp edges, and have a softer almost chewy center ...perfectly pairs with a black coffee or americano. For years, my friends have told me that I have to go to Bakery Nouveau for their popular twice baked chocolate croissant. Since my boyfriend and I were in the area yesterday, we finally decided to stop in for a sweet treat. As we stepped into the bakery, we were amazed at the assortment of baked goods and desserts they have to offer--including sweet and savory pastries, macarons, croissants, gelato, and cakes. With all the yummy looking desserts on display, it was so hard to pick just one. We ended up ordering a twice baked chocolate croissant and a brown sugar & pecan brioche to-go. Once we got back to our hotel, we heated the pastries in the microwave for a quick 10 seconds. We took one bite and were pleasantly surprised. The twice baked chocolate crossing and the brown sugar & pecan brioche were fantastic! The pastries are beautiful and their breads look amazing! How to decide what to have?? We ended up ordering 3 items and a couple of drinks, all of which were very good. It can seem hectic when there are a lot of people inside. Some are ordering, waiting to order, waiting for the items to be heated up, waiting for drinks or waiting for a table to sit down. There needs to be a better way to know which drink is yours. They don't ask for names or give out numbers, I had mistakenly taken someone else's drink because I had ordered the same thing. After dropping my sister off at the airport before 7 am on a Friday, my husband and I decided we could beat the typical rush at Bakery Nouveau at the Burien location. So we got behind one other customer before doors even opened. We used to live above the Cap Hill location in the John Court Apartment building. We have a long history with this bakery, and we know the ridiculous queuing system of having to know what you want before even seeing the case or what is in stock. The woman who opened the door was annoyed from the start. But I am a soft-spoken person, and I needed a second to look at the merchandise. She yelled at me to speak up and treated me with disrespect. I ended up not ordering the latte I wanted because her behavior made me tear up. I didn't want to match her rudeness with rudeness. I have come to associate Bakery Nouveau with incomparable pastries, bread, sandwiches, and other treats. But I will go somewhere else more times than not because of how rude the workers tend to be. It is not worth it. I will drive out of my way for Cafe Besalu or go to a friendlier location like Fresh Flours. read more
