The whole experience here was a little overwhelming. The bakery is in the same parking lot as several other shops that seem to get a lot of traffic on Sunday. It took 3 laps around the parking lot to find a spot at 2:30 pm on a Sunday. Upon entering the bakery, I could tell they offer a lot of unique Turkish and French desserts, which is exciting and different for San Antonio. The noise level was at a dull roar with lots of people standing around looking lost. After getting my bearings I realized there were 2 separate lines, for gelato or pastries. I walked up to the baklava counter and was offered 2 samples without asking. I ordered coconut, pistachio, and walnut slices. My husband got strawberry and chocolate mousse from the pastry area. Both of which were the consistency of ice cream/pudding- not too heavy or rich. The baklava was crispy, flaky, gooey, and buttery. I didn't care for the coconut one. The walnut and pistachio are definitely worth a try. We got 3 slices of baklava and 2 mousse pastries for $15. There were no tables available. Multiple people were sitting at tables without food, so that was frustrating. We just left and ate at home. If I come back, it will be at non-peak hours... whenever that is? But, the service was top-notch, and the pastries are unique and of high quality. read more

I love baklava so I'm surprised I haven't tried this place sooner. This is by far the best bakery I have ever been to. Everything I've tried was absolutely heavenly. I've never thought of mango as something that could be used in pastries but their mango mousse is like a tropical cloud. I'm eating a hazelnut macaron right now and it's perfect. UPDATE - Came here on a Monday afternoon. I wanted to pick up the choco kebab which turned out to be delicious by the way, and the experience was totally different today than it was on Saturday. A much nicer, friendlier lady was working the cash register and an equally friendly lady helped me with my order. I explained to them both how we didn't get the green tea cake in our last order, and without hesitation, one of the ladies said to the other, give her whatever she chooses on the house. So I brought a free treat to my friend. I like a business that takes ownership and listens to customers. I am changing my review from 3 to 4 stars. Maybe one day, when they get more registers and can handle Saturday afternoon traffic, I will up it to 5. We came here on a Saturday outing. This place is a fantastic idea I am glad it's open, but their lines are quite long and disorganized. I mean, I overheard one of their workers telling a customer it's always this busy so that's cool, but they have different stations where they help you, you are supposed to get your product, and then find yourself back in the main line to check out with the one and only cashier. Yes, that's right, even though you were helped in the baklava station, the Turkish delight station, or the famous Choco Kebab station, you still have to form one line past the refrigerated pastries and wait... so this caused a couple problems. My friend ordered green tea cake. She was mega excited about that but it never ended up in the bag when we checked out. Yes, we should've checked ourselves, but it was rather chaotic and we just assumed it was all in the bag... Another gripe I have is many of the treats we purchased tasted very similar across the board. What? Yes. Just sweet, not as unique as they looked. Given, there were a couple of Turkish delights that were wonderful, notably a pomegranate flavored one and another that had little chocolate balls on the outside. Baklava tasted the same, delicious... but the same, except one... it looked like a baked angel hair pasta dish. It sounded strange but it was awesome. Wow. Also tried their famous Ferrero Mousse. It was really good. Delicious, but not as amazing as it looks. Mini cheesecakes, yummy. I actually really loved the mocha macaron. It was wonderful and I'd get it again. I will definitely be back to try their super famous choco kebab that put them on the map... and perhaps a few more delectable treats. I'd like to get my friend her green tea cake as well. This review is subject to change, I'd love to give it another star for the kebab and additional treats, but in good faith I cannot up it to a 5 Star unless something is done about adding another cashier. read more

I absolutely adore this bakery off of Wurzbach Road just behind Pasha and in the same plaza as the Ali Baba market. For traditional Turkish and middle eastern desserts, this is an absolute must try. They sell baklavah and like treats by the pound so great ready to explained your waistline. I absolutely love having a cup of cardamom-scented Turkish coffee with an assorted selection of honey-laced phyllo. My personal favorites have to be the walnut and pistachio baklavahs. For aesthetic reasons, the pistachio bird nests are absolutely gorgeous and almost too cute to eat! (Almost) The service is impeccable, and staff will even accommodate half pound orders should you choose to indulge in moderation. While we were visiting today, one of the bakers gave us all free samples of one of the desserts we were curious about. There is nothing to complain about when Baklovah serves you excellent food and fantastic service. read more

I've been here quite a few times and have never been less than completely satisfied. The pastry chef is obviously an expert in his profession with international influences. In addition to the many diverse choices available in the display case,the chef will make whatever special order pastry you like. I ordered a Black Forest cake and it was light, delicately made and delicious. I always make it a point to stop by whenever I am in the neighborhood. I've never given a five star rating until now. The service was honestly bad. I was in there it was slow and we still didn't get acknowledged people looked at me like I was some alien. I just feel like you guys discriminated me without even trying to serve me. The other kid did a great job serving the other customers. But he gave me an attitude when I said we were ready like you could say one moment politely. But you had to have an attitude. That's not fair at least acknowledge and serve you guys could serve the other guy that came in after me real quick but not me. That's messed up. I really had high hopes. I didn't show that was upset I just left with no service. So hopefully next time I come we can actually get our dessert that came all that way for. read more

While visiting San Antonio, my sweet tooth brought me to this fine, unique locally owned bakery. The beautiful young lady gave us samples of their bestselling baklavas and Turkish delights. Too many choices. My favorites are coconut and pistachio baklavas. Their baklava is not very sweet compared to the store bought ones. For the Turkish delights, pomegranate, pistachios and chocolate crunch top the list. I also bought tiramisu and blueberry cheesecake. All delicious! I did not get to try their coffee but I was able to sample the coffee Turkish delights and I bet their coffee is one not to miss. read more

If you want authentic Middle Eastern pastries this is your one stop shop. We had a wonderful dinner next door at Naara Cafe and even though we were full we wanted to check this new bakery out. I'm very glad that we did! First off, the place is called Baklovah Bakery, with a name like that you know that their signature pastry will be righteous, and it really is. They have both walnut and pistachio baklovah, we opted for the pistachio which is the more authentic. So good! We also got a coconut pastry and a creme one whose names are escaping me at the moment. We managed to get one piece of baklovah down. And we took some home to consume for breakfast today. Aside from the obvious delicacies, they also carried Turkish treats, all kinds of cookies, and beautiful cakes. The staff was exceedingly hospitable, and they even gave us samples of their offerings.
