So much more than just baklava. My first time there the line was almost out the door and I can understand why. They have so many options for gorgeous looking desserts. I got a mix of several different types of baklava and then tried the baklava cheesecake, biscoff dessert, and the two types of mini cannolis. Growing up in NYC I did not have high hopes for the cannolis, as several places here have been disappointing. Wow was I wrong! They were exactly like my NYC Italian bakeries. I had to make another trip to get more the following weekend. I did not love the baklava cheesecake. The phyllo was soggy from the cheesecake and the flavor was just not there for me. But everything else was delicious. I will say, the prices are a bit steep, but the taste is amazing. The baklava was fresh and has an amazing crunch. We also tried the gelato and all loved the flavors. Mine was baklava and it had still crunchy pieces of phyllo dough and the honey nut pieces. The place was crowded, but the line moved fast. It was cold, so we sat inside, which was alright. The line winds behind the chairs, so we kept getting bumped into. Hopefully the weather will be better next time so we can sit outside away from the counter chaos. Highly recommend checking this place out. read more

I absolutely ADORE this bakery. Situated in the Ali Baba plaza, this is really a SWEET treat. Parking can be rather difficult because this plaza truly represents "Middle East meets South East Asia" haha -- but you do grow to love it. I've tried a few items over the course of two years, but what keeps me coming back? The Adeni Milk Tea. The Ferrero Rocher chocolate cake is also extremely good -- although a bit pricey so we keep it for special occasions! They have a wide variety of desserts -- anywhere from cookies to cakes to Knafeh, and if you have the luxury of sitting inside, they even have some infused water you could pour yourself for a quick refresher. Cookies are bought by the pound (lb) and the pistachio ones are my FAVORITE. I LOVE that individuals are able to utilize this bakery for their catch-ups and even study dates. So I know it was very busy, but I wasn't asked if it was for here or to-go. He was nice. I pushed print receipt and never got my receipt. I couldn't even say anything because the guy helping me made my stuff for fine in and I needed it to-go. This other guy came to the computer I was standing in front of while I was waiting and was trying to ring up someone else. I absolutely HATE not getting a receipt. Maybe most don't care, but don't give me an option of a print or text if you aren't going to give it to me! While I was getting rang up a huge moth kept flying in my face. I was trying to kill it. We got the matcha tiramisu (my favorite of what we ordered), pistachio baklava, birds nest (way too sweet for me), Dubai chocolate and Nutella hot chocolate. I tried the Turkish coffee, pistachio tiramisu, honey cake, and kanafa. The Turkish coffee is strong. It had notes of cardamon and was slightly sour and bitter. It was a fun experience to pour it from the fancy pot. It balances the sweetness of the pastries. The pistachio tiramisu was interesting! Light, fluffy texture of the ladyfingers. The pistachio flavor wasn't that strong. I could only tell by the color and the few bites that I did get of a halved pistachio. The honey cake was delicious! It was made of two layers. The sponge was so light! This one was my favorite pastry! I have tried the kanafa before. It is a nice contrast between the cheese and sweetness of the phyllo dough. read more

Finally got to check out this wonderful bakery, and I was not disappointed. There are tables inside to enjoy fresh coffees and drinks along with the selection of sweets. I got a box of pistachio baklava, walnut baklava, coconut bashousa, pistachio Turkish delight, and chocolate Turkish delight. (All of these items were sold by the pound for $12.99/lb.) The baklava was flakey & sweet and definitely the best I've tried in SA. I also really liked the coconut bashousa because it wasn't nearly as sweet as the baklavas. I'm also happy I finally got to try Turkish delight for the first time ever--even having no comparison to other Turkish delight, the pistachio and chocolate varieties were really good. My friend and I visited Baklovah Bakery on a Friday afternoon and had a great experience! While there were others in the bakery, it wasn't overly crowded and there were plenty of places to sit down. The inside was casual, clean and comfortable overall. The gentleman working behind the counter was very friendly and helped make suggestions as to which of the Turkish delight pieces we should try. We tried the following items: - Turtle Cheesecake: I loved this so much because it seemed to have an underlying almond flavor and wasn't overly sweet like most cheesecakes. This tasted more natural and yet was packed with flavor. - Raspberry Tart: Fresh and refreshing! Loved the natural sweetness and the filling. Perfectly made. - Turkish Delight: We tried two different kinds but my favorite was definitely the one with rose and pomegranate. - Cappuccinos: Served in mugs which was such a nice change from the to-go cups other places do. Additionally, this was one of the better tasting cappuccinos I've had in a long time. They also sold Turkish coffee pots and merchandise here - all were beautiful.
