I am writing this review while waiting for my fish tacos that I ordered over 40 minutes ago. . .after waiting for 30 minutes to finally get my order taken. After 2 months of being open I would expect a much smoother operation, especially with it not even being busy. I finally had to ask for my check without ever receiving my food. Worst service I've ever had the displeasure of experiencing. Unorganized. Crowded and a menu that leaves thinking, what just happened? Tables are always dirty. Patio bar. The bigger brown guy needs a serious attitude adjustment. No order, lines are long for no real reason. Bartenders, "Beertenders" are talking in groups among themselves. Instead of helping with the lines. It's a shit show. It's a real shame. It's a great building with great beer. but the vibe just sucks. Saving on labor by not hiring waitresses. Cool. Ballast has been my go to spot since moving to Long Beach because of how fun the atmosphere is, the drinks and food are awesome, and their employees are even better. Special shout out to Kyle for always giving the best service when I see his friendly face. read more

Very pretty view on a warm sunny day. It's self seating unless you put in your name and wait the hour to get a seat with a server (bar or table inside) if you want the great view you gotta find your own spot (without a server). You just can't have it all here which kinda bugs and will be the deal breaker on days where I just don't feel like waiting in a huge line for a beer. There's plenty of parking which is great. The food is good i was so glad to see vegetarian options besides a salad! The beer is Delish!! Ballast is one of our top favorites but I had been putting off coming here because of the reviews. I would have definately ordered more than one but the line was such a turn off so I didn't. Waiting in a huge line for a beer is a major buzz kill don't you think? I suggest a BEER ONLY line maybe make it go faster? Just know that this place is usually packed... You will have to search and lurk around for a spot to sit... You will have to wait in a long line... If you want more beer.. Which you should it's a brewery... You will have to wait in another long line. Came on a less crowded day where we were able to get a table and enjoy the view, food, and beer. Obviously the beer was good, but I ordered fish tacos and the crunchy coating was tasteless. I love fish tacos and while the presentation was perfect, the tacos themselves were the worst fish tacos I've had in my life. Other food sucked too especially for the price. Was able to chat with some of the servers and they were snobby... hot & bearded..sure, but snobby and rude! There are other places in LB with a great view, great beer, & great food that are less crowded. read more

Love taking the boat here with friends and family - the beer is excellent (wahoo white and sculpin IPA are my favorite) my only issue is that the place is so ridiculously crowded at times.. Just can be tough to find some place to sit and eat a bite while tasting a few beers. Definitely one of the better "sunset" locations near Seal Beach as well! read more

My experience at this Ballast Point far exceeded my expectations. I am more used to the smaller breweries with shorter lists of options and less seating. Came last Friday and figured it would be packed, it was but we still found a seat pretty quickly. I ordered the Grunion Pale Ale and an "Impossible Burger'. They were both delightful. Most importantly Id like to point out the staff. From the moment we walked in to the time we left we were met with nothing but exceptional service. This was felt from trying to gauge suggestions on their extensive list to overall attention to our table. I particularly would like to point out Kyle who was working the patio bar area that night. On my next visit I surely hope it resembles the same service he gave us that day. read more

Came in for drinks and a late dinner at the wrong time tonight still had fun though. Walked in at 9:25 put drinks in and the next time the bartender came around we found out the kitchen had already been closed.. wish we could have gotten a warning! First off this is just the review for the host. Everything else is was amazing. Food was amazing, service was amazing. The host though, was not. I didn't get a chance to get his name. He looked like Shaggy from Scoopy Doo. We had joined the waitlist on yelp and we received the text while on the way. According to the text we had 10 mins before our table was up. We got there in about 6 mins. There was a couple in front of me. They had a lovely cute puppy. His wife went inside to get a shirt and the other customer was still standing there with the dog. Leaving me standing awkwardly behind him. While all the workers were drooling over the puppy I'm still waiting. My husband was finding parking. Till he came and he saw that they weren't paying attention to me at all. So he told the host that we had a table ready. He said that we were late. Well no duh. I've been standing here the whole time. I didn't want to be rude and speak up because all I heard was "awww what a cute puppy" petting the puppy and everything. He wasn't going to let us get the table and keep waiting. Then other nice girl host said it should be okay to give us a table. Thank you goodness for her. I would've went off on Shaggy looking alike. He was rude and killer my whole mood. I was hoping that I can enjoy the view and my food but I was already so pissed off at the host. read more

Their phone number won't even pick up to answer any questions. Zero Customer service at this time, especially when places are starting to open back up and get back to normalcy. They obviously don't care to make sure their patrons can get ask questions or make reservations because their online email is invalid as well!! Obviously good beer, good view, nice venue. But on average the wait is 25 mins to get a beer. It doesn't matter which bar out of the 3 available you go to - the wait sucks. And it's only 2 drinks per person. *update 8/11/18 I'm never coming back here ever again. It took and hour and 2 mins for my burger and fries to come out. Then another 8 mins for the wings and tacos. This place is HUGE. Very relaxed and modern. It is open seating where you can choose to sit outside or inside. You walk up to the counter to order all food and beverages. When we got there it was very busy and we didn't find a table right away, but once we noticed that employees were not very quick about cleaning tables. We cleared a table ourselves and wiped it down ourselves. I wish they took orders at the table rather than at the bar. But the music and the atmosphere makes for a great night out with friends and beer. read more

People here are amazing. Mariana is the event planner and she was very helpful in many ways. She got me what I wanted and needed. I got the Crow's Nest, (2nd floor) asked for extra space and extra heat lamps incase it got to cold and windy at night. So if you want to host an event she is the go-to person. She communicates via email and she is quick with her response and thorough with everything. I had my wedding reception early this month and it turned out to be fantastic. Reuben and Erin were my servers and they were amazing. Very kind and attentive and always went out of they're way for everyone. I would recommend them. If I were to host another event at ballast point, I would request the same people. Outstanding customer service. read more

Beautiful location. The food is worth every cent. Tara was an exceptional server, so friendly, kind, and attentive even when we had a baby at the table she was patient with all of our needs. Only giving four stars because the bathroom was a disaster but anyone who has worked in a restaurant understands that in a busy Saturday, not everything gets done when it's supposed to to accommodate with hundreds of people. The host was extremely sweet as well. Great experience. Literally the best fish tacos I have ever had, huge chunks of blackened yellowtail and fresh toppings as well. I hope management recognizes how phenomenal of a server Tara was! I've been a server/bartender for 13 years and I admit that when I go out I am very picky about making sure the server provides great service. Tara blew me away, she was so friendly and personable all while tending to about 6 -8 large tables. She was knowledgeable about the menu items and answer all of our questions about the different beers. She was fantastic and one of the main reasons I will return with my family any chance we get! read more

Horrible service. I arrived at 2pm to grab a drink on my birthday, I was excited because I had never been. I sat at the bar it took about 15 minutes for someone to come take my order(mind you 2 bartenders and a total of 9 people sitting at the bar, everyone with a drink already). I tried to order food after finally ordering my beer the bartenders never came back because they were at the other end of the bar talking with themselves. Coming here on a weekend is crowded! The crowd gave it a club-esque feel which was cool! It's definitely a nice place to mingle, relax and enjoy a couple of beers. The French fries are good, but the service is awful. And by awful I don't mean they took too long to bring my food or they brought the wrong drink. They have some of the rudest bartenders I have ever met in my entire life. I will never come here again. Biased alert: it's my favorite brewery. Now that we got that out of the way, what an amazing location! Located on the edge of the marina, the views are breathtaking, really great design for a place, plenty of outdoor seating, including on the 2nd floor patio. Now I mean theoretically plenty of seating, since it's never available. Perpetually crowded, especially on the weekends. Still, great food and awesome beer in one of the most beautiful breweries, or even bars, that I've been in. read more

This place has the most beautiful waterfront view. I came here in a date with my honey and we loved it. We watched the sun go down, had literally the best lemon pepper wings I've ever had in my whole life, and were able to stay nice and toasty bc if the heaters they had available. Disappointing from start to finish. I was really excited to try this place because I love their beer, but I was immediately and continually disappointed. You wait in line to get in the building expecting to be seated, except that it is self seating. So your party needs to split up and vulture over people to snag a table when they leave. There are three bars which means there are three lines for hundreds of people. I felt like I was at an amusement park waiting to get on a rollercoaster except all I wanted was a beer! You will wait 20-30 minutes for a beer. Oh and be aware which line you are in because each bar does not have all of the beer on tap. Want food? Go wait in a separate line and order there. I had a burger that was very mediocre for $14. I get that the atmosphere will bring up the price a bit, but this was not worth the price at all. I hope they can get it figured out because the location and atmosphere is really nice. Lots of potential here, but I would not come back until things get figured out. read more

This new BP location is pretty much amazing. Right on the harbor with amazing views. Fits the bill (being BP). The place is quite large, with several sitting areas. The roof bar was not open yet, but once it opens I expect to make another visit. The beers, as you come to expect from BP are exceptional and they have quite the assorted selection (no guest taps, for now). Food is very similar to the BP Taste room and kitchen in Little Italy-SD. The place is still quite new and quite popular. We were there on a Thursday and a wait line started forming at 7pm. They told us the reason for this is to not overload the kitchen ; guess they are still working out the kinks of a new location. In other words, get there early (pre-6pm). If you want to grab a seat on the outdoor patio/deck, make it there even earlier! read more
