I was craving Cantonese food, and decided to check this restaurant out, it did not disappoint. They have wonton soup for $5.99, which is unheard of nowadays. We ordered the wonton soup, beef rolls, braised pork belly, beef chow fun, and pork intestines with pickled vegetables, plus Hong Kong milk tea and the shaved ice with red beans was only $1. What a steal! The wontons were huge and tasty. The braised pork belly had a nice balance of fat and meat and was very tender. The beef chow fun and pork intestines were both delicious. I usually don't care for red bean desserts, but this one won me over, just the right amount of sweetness, and for only a dollar! Our waitress was super nice and friendly. We walked in to an empty restaurant, told to sit wherever, waited ten minutes for a menu, finally had to flag a waitress down to order he soup pictured on the placemats, waitress joked that it was an easy order. TWENTY MINUTES LATER AND THERE'S NO SOUP!! Get up to walk out and the waitress is just chatting away with people. Guess they don't care about customers. I knew I had to check out Milk & Co Cafe in Monterey Park. I find their biz name to be interesting and unique for a Hong Kong style eatery. I'm sure there is a story behind it. I did take-out instead of dine-in that night. I called ahead to order two Wonton Egg Noodle Soup. Spoke to a nice lady. Parking is available behind the restaurant. You can't really see the parking lot well when you're on Garvey Ave, but it's there. Upon entry, gentleman staff greeted me and asked how many people. I informed him I was picking up. My order was ready upon arrival. Lady staff at cashier was not the friendliest looking. I'm not sure if she was the one who took my order or what. I paid for my order and left. I didn't bother to take photos of the inside. Interior decor was very Hong Kong style inspired. I'll snap photos next time. Huge and tasty wontons complemented by plenty of egg noodles. Unfortunately, the soup was a bit bland. Price per bowl was super reasonable. It was $7.99 each totaling $15.45 which is not bad at all. I had been wanting to try Milk & Co. Cafe since they opened, and my family finally stopped by for a light dinner. Unfortunately, our experience was marred by some of the poorest service I have ever encountered. From the start, it was nearly impossible to get a server's attention, even though there were two staff members working nearby. When we finally managed to order, the staff were unfriendly and inattentive. We ordered the Beef Chow Fun ($16.99) and the wonton soup special ($5.99). While the portion size of the soup was a good value, the broth was watery and overly salty, and I wouldn't order it again. The Beef Chow Fun was particularly disappointing; when it arrived, I discovered a hair in the dish. While my wife kindly asked for it to be remade, the replacement was quite oily and came back quite fast. Additionally, we had to go out of our way to request water, and when the server finally brought it, she simply threw the straws onto our table. We received no apology for the hair in our food or the lack of attentiveness throughout the meal. Given the abundance of other excellent Hong Kong and Cantonese restaurants in the area, we will not be returning to Milk & Co. Cafe. We tried their $5.99 wonton noodle soup promotion that most foodie influencers from LA were talking about. It was a good deal, which was difficult to find in the Bay Area in this economy. The shrimp and pork wontons were big and delicious, and the wonton noodles were firm. We also got the curry beef with potatoes, which came with a complimentary pot of steamed rice that can feed a whole family of 10. The curry beef was alright, nothing special. As for dessert, we topped it off with a big glass of red bean shaved ice without ice cream. It was really sweet with sweet condensed milk and sweetened red beans. Overall, the servers were fast, and the food came out quickly. The portions were so big that the three of us couldn't finish the curry beef and rice. Was in mood for some HK favors so went here for breakfast/brunch on Sunday morning. Went here around 9am so got parking right at the front door. They do have small marking lot and I guess you can do street parking too. The place is small but well organized and layout with plenty of tables & booths. Lots of neon lights hanging on walls and ceiling of HK words or Chinese words throughout the place, it does reminded of HK cafe places for sure. Staff can be stiff but nice once they seat you and after 10mins before they came over to take the orders. Menu is great with plenty of HK breakfasts of both western or Chinese, especially the pineapple buns, congees & noodles. They do have HK milktea (abit sweeter than in HK). The noodle is great with big fat wonton, the congee combo special was great with peanuts and big tasty bones, the rice cake was soft and yummy. The pineapple buns were smaller with small butter and taste sweeter too. The toasted butter w/ condensed milk was great, childhood memory for sure. Milktea was good, again abit sweeter than I would like. The curry fish ball was great, tasty, soft and full of favor. The baked pork & tomatoes sauce over rice was good, nothing special and big portion. BUT if you look at the prices, you can't really go wrong. I'm going to say a 3.5 for this Hong Kong style Café. We were nearby running errands and I had a craving for wonton noodles, and Yelp brought us here. Inside, there are booth seating on one side and open tables on the other. We had a booth. Service was fairly pleasant as our server rushed to place a part of what we wanted while we studied the menu for more items. Based on other reviews of rude service, we didn't get that from the few we interacted with. But a guy that appears to be the manager was very unpleasant, so that could've been it. The food came out rather quickly. We got two bowls of wonton noodles and they hit the spot. The wontons were huge and very good. Usually, I'm not a fan of rice rolls, but this one changed my mind as there were plenty of chopped beef and the rice roll itself was nice and soft, unlike the firm chewy ones I've had elsewhere. We also ordered a fish fillet and black bean sauce. It was covered with onions as seen in photo, but there were plenty of fish buried underneath. Another dish was the steamed mincemeat with salted egg. This was overcooked as the meat was a little bit dry and firm. I've been wanting to come here for so long! I originally heard about their opening over Chinese radio podcast. Also saw lots of advertising on Instagram from food bloggers about the pricing. There is a parking lot dedicated to the restaurant. Definitely your basic HK cafe experience with so many menu options. The place is clean, there's plenty of seating, and staff is friendly and nice. They did not rush us out the door like other restaurants. It wasn't too busy for lunch time. Portions were large for price and the food was delicious! Shrimp rice roll had a chewy outside and was freshly made. The sauce was not overly salty or sweet. The shrimp itself were large and perfectly done. Yes the baked pork chop dish is $7.99, but y'all don't realize is that there's a lot of rice and bits and pieces of pork chop with bone. The steamed beef noodles for $3.99 is pretty good. There were five ginormous wontons, and they were SUCCULENT, not overcooked to bring out a hint of sweetness from the meat. The broth was also delicious. I got the other two specials to go: pork chop in tomato sauce and beef rice rolls. The former was a bit tough to chew, while the latter was satisfyingly thin and loaded with meat. The soup here was lacking flavor; the wontons were lacking flavor and lukewarm in the center; the wonton skin was wrong. I cannot recommend this. They charge $6.99 if you get this to-go. The baked pork chop dish was ok. The rice isn't flavored, but overall it's ok. They cut up the pork chop here. The beef Chang fun had so much raw cilantro. There was a lady at the register, a server, and someone who brought the food to our table (Idk what position that is). And all 3 ladies ignored us when we wanted to place our order. They eventually took our order, but I thought it was strange that they couldn't see us even when they kept passing by us. Additionally, 2 of the ladies wore blue gloves, but they never changed it. They handled fresh plates of food, dirty plates, wiped tables, and handled cash/payment with the same blue gloves on. I was determined to try the specials, so I ordered the wonton noodle soup and beef rice rolls. My friend got the baked spaghetti Bolognese with iced lemon tea. I'm a big fan of wonton noodle soup in general, and I liked that the wontons had more meat instead of mostly shrimp. However, the soup has a bit of an acquired taste, so I probably wouldn't order it again. The beef rice rolls were okay--there wasn't a lot of beef, but given the price, it felt fair. My friend, on the other hand, really liked the spaghetti Bolognese, both in taste and portion size--it was about twice the size of what you'd get at U2 Cafe, which makes it a great value. For the price, the portion was generous! Taste-wise, it was decent. Wontons were big, and they were tasty. Noodles were fine, but the soup was a bit lacking. It wasn't super flavorful. Baked pork chop over rice ($7.99): 4/5. Taste was good, and again, portion was generous. However, there weren't many pieces of pork while there was a ton of rice underneath. Typhoon shrimp ($17.99): 3.5/5. We ordered this based on our waiter's recommendation. Portion was decent as it came with 14 shrimps. Solidly mid-range among all the Hong Kong style cafes in this area, but hey, it's on the cheaper side, so no complaints. Here is what I thought of each dish. Baked pork chop over rice (3/5). The portion is very generous. As for the taste, I have had better. It was not bad. Average in terms of taste but great deal for the price. It was only $7.99. Rice roll with beef (4/5). I liked this dish. This is my favorite dish of this meal. Rice roll has good consistency and beef tasted fresh. It was only $3.99. Terrific deal. Salt and pepper shrimp (3.5/5). The shrimps were big and it was fried to a nice crispy exterior. However I thought it was under seasoned. It could have used a bit more salt. We also ordered 2 hot coffee which the waitress gave us hot milk tea instead. We decided to keep the milk tea instead of changing it. I thought the milk tea tasted weak. It does not have much tea flavor to it. (3/5) Overall we had a pleasant time. Service was average. It was a bit awkward, but my mom and I did not mind, and we wanted to order our food quickly. Of course, we ordered their special promotions, a wonton noodle soup, tomato baked pork chop rice, and we also ordered minced pork rice with double eggs ($12.99) for both of us. All the orders came in generous portions. The wonton noodle soup had a lot of noodles inside, and it had five big wontons. The portion was big, and you may want to share it with someone. Came here because of the hype. To be honest I was a little disappointed with the food itself. All the stuff we got was drenched in tomato sauce and sugar. I think they also either didn't add the peanut butter or added too little to our toast. Maybe this is how the dishes are supposed to be, but it wasn't very palatable for us. They also took a really long time to get out our order. It's got the typical Hong Kong cafe vibes. Make sure you check in with the guy at the front and get a ticket if there's a line. If you want a true experience of what a chaotic, noisy, authentic true to life Hong Kong cafe is like, then you're in luck here. I've come twice, and each time it's been the same. Do not expect attentive service. Do not expect cleanliness. Do not expect to be taken care of at first glance. Expect your order to maybe be missing something. But hey, they'll gladly give your check and take your payment without hesitation! The food is cheap, yes, and the portions are sizable. The food is your typical HK-style cafe fare as well. However, the other aspects of this cafe leaves much to be desired. For one, EVERYONE in the SGV seems to know about their $4.99 wonton noodle and $3.99 steamed beef noodle roll special, along with their $8.99 breakfast pork bone congee/beef rice roll combo. That means an uncertain wait time at all times of day with little semblance of a proper queue, and tables that are not cleared promptly while you wonder when you'll get seated. The servers are also all over the place as well. It's as if they used AI to generate a formula for *just* enough servers and kitchen staff to just run a restaurant, while cutting costs wherever possible. It shows: staff constantly yelling over one another, some looking they'd rather be elsewhere, and overall not really having a system in place to keep all customers happy. Also the food takes a long time to arrive, so be ready for that. The food is a slight redeeming point. The $4.99 wonton noodles are alright, with the plump wontons and tender, chewy noodles being served in a surprisingly lukewarm broth. The rice rolls are NOT available either past a certain time or until they run out, so expect disappointment if you come before 6pm and they are out. I have yet to try the rest of the menu. However, given the experience I've had here, I doubt this will be in my SGV HK cafe rotation in the future unless their other service aspects change. Came on a weekday during lunch time and had to wait about 30 mins. Expect a line on weekdays and weekends as they are popular right now for their cheap prices! Parking: small parking lot available Food: tried the famous $4.99 wonton noodle soup. For the price and portion, I have nothing to complain! It's pretty good! Also saw a lot of tables order the chicken dish with onion which was very tasty! Service is a bit slow but very friendly staff. Overall a great spot with good deals. read more

We ordered the following: Steamed Rice rolls with bbq pork Wonton Soup String Beans Salt and Pepper Pork Chop (Cut up) Two milk teas Enough food for I would say 3 people for $50 is great for lunch. The food was done well. The milk tea coffee combo wasn't too sweet. I was expecting it to be cheap cheap, but you do get a lot for what you pay for, so it's worth a visit. I've been trying to eat for a while because I love rice noodle rolls. It's always been packed with a line of people waiting outside since they have a relatively small amount of tables. I was finally able to find success on a Monday afternoon for an early dinner. I tried the wonton noodle soup, tomato sauce pork chop with rice and beef rice noodle rolls. The wontons in the noodle soup are massive and you get a decent size whole shrimp with pork filling. Noodles were springy and had a nice texture. The broth was flavorful but I love my chili oil to give it a nice kick. The pork cutlet in tomato sauce reminded me of home cooking. The beef rice noodles were delicious and I ended up taking some home because I ordered too much. I think I'll have to steam them again as opposed to the microwave. I ended up ordering to go later in the week and the wonton soup was well packaged with a divider between the soup and the noodles/wonton/choy. From their lunch special, I tried the mapo tofu and stir fried green beans. They were nice portion sizes and came with a container of rice. The mapo tofu wasn't too spicy and the green beans still had some snap. read more

Went here on a whim on a Friday night after seeing a post on IG. The draw was that this was a new restaurant offering $5 dishes. Upon arriving, the restaurant/decor/operations/staff felt like they had been operating the restaurant for the past 30 years. It wasn't bad - it felt like a comfy HK cafe much like any other in MP; it just didn't feel new nor clean, per se. The good part: food is good. Got the fried tofu, steamed fish, sweet and sour pork, and sticky rice. All of the food was top notch. The not-so-good: they definitely did not have anything resembling $5 when we were there. Everything was menu price ($15-30 range). Also, they must have been busy because even though we went around 8:30 PM they were literally sold out of almost the entire menu; completely sold out of all soups, all noodle dishes, all congee, etc... This caused much grief for the staff, who turned away 90% of the customers that arrived after us. The (random) few guests they sat were only able to pick from a very short list of items that the kitchen had ingredients to make. Some staff were noticeably short tempered, while others were extremely nice but look completely exhausted and beaten to a pulp and trying to hold it (and the restaurant) together. Props to our server who was in the latter category - wish I got his name. I made sure to tip him well. Probably wouldn't go out of my way to go back, at least until they get their act together. But one day, I do want to get their super soft fried tofu, again. Free parking lot in the back. read more

I heard about this place opening and came on a sunday afternoon around 1:30pm. This place was packed and I finally got a seat around 2:00pm. I ordered a mince meat rice with fried egg, beef cheung fun, and baked pork chop rice. The orders were very slow to come out and service being all over the place. The mince meat rice came out within 5 minutes of ordering. The cheung fun came 30 minutes after. Their baked pork chop rice ended up becoming pasta because they ran out of rice. Aside from the service mess, the food was actually pretty tasty. The mince meat rice was very flavorful and went well with the fried egg. The baked pork chop pasta was relatively close to what I would get in HK, missing just the pineapple. The portion sizes were also huge. Overall, good food but disastrous opening. I will update my review once the hype dies down and I can come actually try their baked pork chop rice. read more

Finally, I have a chance to try this new eatery - Milk & Co. I guess it wants the customer to link this to the (澳洲牛奶公司） in HK, which of course is not. Previously, it was Yau Ma Tei and now replace by this restaurant. The inside of the restaurant has a bit of HK feel with different HK places name. This restaurant has a couple of daily special which I think is a good deal. The wonton soup (it has five wontons, I ate one before I took the photo), which only $4.99. It tasted delicious. It also has baked pork chop rice for $7.99. Breakfast special - pork bone congee with beef rice rolls, plus a cold drink for $8.99. However, the congee is not as tasty as I thought. The taste is a little bland. It also has a lunch special until 6 p.m. The service is attentive and polite. read more
