    Egg rolls

Had their lemongrass chicken banh mi sandwich and egg rolls. I don't like mayo, so I nixed the mayo and added Sriracha and hoisin sauce (I ordered take out and had hoisin sauce at home). Sandwich was delicious, but the bread was not as good as the filling (chicken and veggies), which is why I gave it 4 stars. Full disclosure ~ I had freshly baked bread the day before from Albertson's, so probably an unfair comparison. Looked like there was only one person taking the order, and making the food, so it was a 30 minute wait. But he was super nice (Jeb, an Army veteran). And anyways, there was a live outdoor band playing at Brothers Cascadia, to entertain me while I waited. Try Banh Mi Saigon because it was good! See the pictures too.

Banh Mi Saigon offers a wide variety of huge banh mi at very affordable prices. Very conveniently, Banh Mi Saigon can integrate billing with Brothers Cascadia Brewing, in whose parking lot they reside. Flavors are great, and all of the ingredients are extremely fresh and high quality. The grilled pork was particularly good, especially with egg added as another ingredient. The egg rolls were also quite nice, and were served with fresh vegetables on the side. I'm really looking forward to my next visit!

Let me start out by saying this place had amazing flavor profiles for each one of the three Bahn Mi's we ate. The portion sizes were generous, and the vegetables were pickled with the perfect hand. That said, the bread was very disappointing. Not only was the bread "off," it wasn't a traditional baguette, filling to bread ratio was out of whack, and to top it off, the bread started falling apart in our hands after the second bite from each sandwich. We also indulged ourselves with their spring rolls, which they absolutely crushed!! They were crispy, hot, overstuffed (in the best way), and the sauce was amazing. If this place fixes their bread issue (the only reason for the 3 stars) and adds some pickled Daikon, it would be fire!!

Oh no. Here we go. I came here with my plus one on a hot and sunny Monday at noon. It's been awhile since we've been here and our closest banh mi place recently changed owners so we've been eyeing a new close place. Came back to check out the fare. Right off the bat there's no prices. Also, there's not a description of what's in the bowl/sandwich... example: there's a sign that says what's inside the banh mi (says pate) I ordered and said "no pate please!" And the response was "it doesn't come with pate on it." Well, why is the sign wrong? Ok so we both ordered the lemongrass chicken (no lemongrass pork option? My SE Asian spidey senses are tingling). We were asked if we wanted egg on it. What? Literally the first time in my life I've been asked about an egg on a banh mi. We grabbed a buzzer and were told "it's gonna be awhile." O...ok? We waited in the shade and saw maybe 4 folks grab their food ahead of us, the one guy seemed very busy. Brother needs help. It took over 15mins for our two sandos to come out. He then asked if we wanted peppers and I said yes. Bread: 1 star. It's bread, but it's not French bread and it's not good. The outside is hard, the inside is chewy and doughy, not flaky like banh mi French bread. This is someone's interpretation of a hogie roll. This is not French bread. My notoriously crumb-y partner remarked that they had no flaky crumbs on them after eating. I'm not surprised, the bread is dense and too high and hard to get you mouth around. I ate this like an angry anaconda. Veg: 1 star. As other reviews have said, this is wrong. Banh mi veg (carrots, cukes, and daikon) should be lightly pickled. There's no daikon, and the veg is raw. Not to mention the wide variation in veg thickness! Strands of carrots are lost in HUNKS of cucumbers. Then there's the bin of Serrano chilies (see: not a traditional jalapeño?). Meat: 2 stars. There's a lot of chicken, and that's all the good I have to say. This is not lemongrass chicken. There is no, NO lemongrass. This is soy sauce chicken at best. The flavor is like I got a Costco chicken, poured soy sauce on it, hit it with the griddle, and gave you big 'ole chunks. A ton of meat. Too much of something that wasn't great and added to the anaconda height of this... "sandwich". Service: 2 stars. No price, no clear ingredients, and an egg? An egg?? Avocado I get, but... wha... Over all flavor: This is American fusion at best, and definitely not banh mi. This is a sandwich, not banh mi. Literally everything was not as it should be. Like if I gave you broccoli cheddar soup and called it broccoli beef stir fry. Edible? Yes. What you said it was? Not at all. This is American fusion Asian food. It's heavier on the American side of the fusion than the fried rice at Panda. Just know what you're getting. Dang the bread was sad. I'm still sad about that hogie thing.

The Sai gon Special BanhMi Sandwich

Tried this place due to convenience to where I was at, and it had high ratings. Filling inside was generous, but I missed the traditional flavor of a Vietnamese banh mi. I got the special which came some some meats homemade pate, homemade mayo, pickled carrots, fresh cilantro, sliced cucumbers, and sliced Serrano peppers, and homemade "baguette". The pickling on the carrots was not vinegary enough. They didn't have the pickled daikon. The "baguette" was not toasted how it traditionally is. The bread was too soft and no crunch. I was hoping the mayo was going to be as delicious as the kind you'll get from banh mi shops, but it wasn't. I was looking for the cold cuts of a traditional banh mi, but it was no where near it. So I tried, and won't be back.

A Portland-worthy food truck in the 'Couve! I used to go to Brothers Cascadia for the beer, but at this point I go when I'm craving a lemongrass chicken rice plate! My fiancé likes to get the grilled pork rice wrap (a bit misleading, it's a very large burrito) and I swear that would feed me for 3 days. They aren't shy on the portions and the sauces/mayonnaise they use on the rice plates make the perfect combo - not too heavy but rich enough to know it's a treat. One day I'll have to try the bahn mi, I'm sure it's fantastic. Typical of food trucks, but I recommend putting your order in early if you're hungry, sometimes it takes 15+ minutes to get your order (or maybe it just feels long because I'm excited to eat!). In my opinion, best food option at Brothers Cascadia among their food trucks by a mile.

Tastes good to me! Super sweet guy who took my order. Added a runny egg, per his suggestion, and was delighted at the end product. A very large sandwich with a generous amount of meat and veg. A touchy pricy but you get a lot of food. Spicy sriracha and Thai chili on the side to douse your sandwich at your leisure. I would've like a more flavorful aioli but otherwise, a good sandwich. Pair it with a beer next door and I'm a fan!

Our server was friendly and quick. She answered questions and described the specials. They have gluten free focaccia!!!! It was super yummy, but it was also served kinda cold. Worth it. We ordered the fresh catch, which was halibut with some potatoes and grilled asparagus. The accompanying sauces were delicious. The asparagus was good. The white potatoes though had been cooked previously and weren't reheated enough. They were described as new potatoes but were definitely large chunks of russets. They were hard to eat. So we didn't. We also had the Punta di Fesa which is a braised beef dish with mushrooms on polenta. The balsamic mushrooms and polenta were so flavorful and delicious. It was a good thing that my husband started with this dish (we traded halfway through and had plenty to eat!) because I would have eaten his share of the polenta too. The beef however was dry and not what I would have expected from a braised beef. When we were given a knife, we were told we probably wouldn't need it. We did. The service here was friendly and helpful. Our server was knowledgeable about gluten free needs and recommended a great bottle of wine that went well with our fish AND the beef (which is tricky...yummy Chianti AND half price!). It was pretty busy for a Tuesday night at 7. There were people that ended up waiting but not too long. There are shelves of Italian goods all around you. My husband said he felt like he was eating in a store. You kind of are, but it was still cozy. I plan to come back to try the gluten free pasta and maybe a lunch sandwich if they have solid gf options there. Also, the dessert menu looked great. We were just full.

I love the plethora of options they have for vegans/vegetarians and omnivores alike. I got my sandwich with egg, vegan sausage, cilantro aioli, and avocado - I was initially worried the aioli wouldn't be strong enough or flavorful enough but it was perfect. A very good breakfast sandwich, filling too! You can also get it on an english muffin or on ciabatta which is a nice swap depending on your mood. My friends tried the breakfast burritos, loved them but agreed portions were very generous. We also grabbed a couple scones -- the lemon poppyseed and the marionberry.
