MENU:* Scallion Pancakes* Vegetable Spring Rolls* Kung Pao Chicken* Pork & Shrimp Pot Stickers* Garlic String Beans* Pork & Shrimp Soup Dumplings (Xiao Long Bao)* Scallion Oil Noodles* Pan-Fried Pork Buns* Braised Beef Noodle Soup* Chinese Meat Burger* Brown Sugar Rice Cakes

Let's check out this Jiangnan-style restaurant that opened in LA late last year! The space is still very new and clean, without the greasy feel that some traditional snack shops can have. And one thing I noticed during lunch: there were lots of grandparents dining there, and they all looked like regulars. I don't know if anyone else feels this way, but restaurants that are popular with older customers are usually pretty good, and the prices tend to be reasonable too! 【Kurobuta Soup Dumplings】 My first test for any Jiangnan restaurant is always the classic pork soup dumplings. And right now they're on special for just $3.99 a basket! I honestly can't remember the last time I saw that price in LA. Next time I come by myself, I'll probably order two baskets and pair them with their free porridge for the perfect meal. The wrappers are fairly thin, and each bite is full of soup. You can definitely tell they're freshly made. 【Giant Crab Roe & Kurobuta Soup Dumpling】 Alhambra finally has one of these! Whenever I'm back in Suzhou, I buy one and sip the soup while walking around. This version is generously filled with both crab roe and pork. After drinking the soup, I like adding a little vinegar and enjoying the filling. So satisfying. 【Crab Roe Scallion Oil Noodles】 And thank goodness they don't use sea crab! The noodles are springy and the flavors are very balanced. My husband likes mixing in a bit of vinegar, which cuts through the richness and makes it even more delicious. 【Shanghai Three-Delicacy Shaomai】 This is exactly the type of shaomai I grew up eating. When I first moved to LA, I honestly wasn't used to Cantonese-style siu mai at all. The sticky rice on top is packed with mushroom and pork flavors. Absolutely unbeatable. 【Pan-Fried Kurobuta Pork Buns】 Proceed with caution! These are incredibly juicy and packed with soup. You really need to eat them while they're piping hot for the full experience. The bun itself stays soft and fluffy. Very satisfying. 【Shanghai Wonton Soup】 After all those carbs, I needed something warm and comforting. The broth has to have seaweed, dried shrimp, and scallions to feel authentic. The wonton wrappers are thin, but the filling is surprisingly generous. Lately I haven't been eating much spicy food, and this bowl somehow reminded me of my life before moving abroad, when I ate light, comforting meals every day. 【Pork Chop Fried Rice】 The fried pork chop has a slight Japanese-style vibe to it. I expected the fried rice to be fairly standard, but it ended up being a pleasant surprise. And one more thing! They offer three different kinds of porridge for free refills, and none of them are pre-sweetened. You can add sugar yourself if you'd like, which feels healthier and more thoughtful. It's a small detail, but I really appreciated it.

Modern decor dumpling house. Complimentary appetizers include peanuts, seaweed, and black fungus. I ordered: * Pan-Fried Kurobuta Pork Buns - 4/5 ($7.98) * Meat & Kurobuta Pork Soup Dumplings - 3.5/5 ($8.98) * Hand-Pulled Spicy Cabbage - 3.5/5 ($9.98) * Braised Beef Noodle Soup - 2.5/5 ($19.98) The beef wasn't tender enough, and the soup base was just okay. For almost $20, I expected a bit more. The other dishes were reasonably priced and tasted decent. Easy to find indoor parking or you can park across the street

Came here the other day for dinner with my mom. It wasn't too busy so we were seated right away. We ordered the pork and crab soup dumplings and the regular pork soup dumplings. Flavor was good, but the skins were a bit too thin and kept breaking when we picked them up, so we lost most of the soup which was kind of disappointing. We also got the pan fried buns which I really liked. The bottoms were extra crispy and the filling was juicy. The homestyle chicken and egg fried rice was surprisingly good too, had a nice wok flavor. We also ordered the stir fried bok choy which was simple but tasty. They give you a small complimentary appetizer and hot tea which was a nice touch. Overall a solid meal. I'd come back to try more of the menu next time.

A new XLB restaurant in town and it slapped, HARD!!!! The spicy wontons were the best I've ever had, and I prefer it to Ding Tai Fung's. It's different but super flavorful and has a nice peanuty kick. We also ordered the stir fried string beans, which were tasty enough, and their big XLB. This is where I was a bit disappointed - it barely had any filling in it and was mainly skin and soup. It was still very flavorful and tasty, but the lack of meat was disappointing. Restaurant is definitely new and nicely decorated with lots of natural light. Service was efficient and kind. There's a free parking structure next to it, and has multiple levels so it wasn't too hard to find a spot. Will definitely return to try their XLB. Hopefully it has more filling than the big version.

First time was Sunday around 12 & it wasn't too busy yet. Place order through QR code We ordered about 9 or 10 dishes & the total was about $120 which is pretty good I liked the variety of food & how they made their own twists to their dishes unlike the traditional ways of making it (like the spicy wonton had sesame sauce, not my favorite but unique) Tables favorites dishes: shao mai, onion pancake, xlb, green beans The noodles tasted like a restaurant version of Indomie, Chinese burger had a great crispy breading but meat a little dry, chicken soy sauce fried rice was a bit bland, & the large crab xlb was just okay and had little filling I would come back for the favorites & to try other dishes

Went to check out Bao Master in Alhambra since it's been on my list to try. They have been opened for a couple months so decided to pay them a visit. When we arrived there were about 2 other tables there. You order off a QR code and the staff brings your orders to the table. The items were pretty affordable as we ordered a lot of small dishes and sides. For a party of 4 and a toddler we ordered about 10 items. We ordered the cucumbers, pickles veggies, pork soup dumplings, braised gluten, beef rolls, hot and sour soup, spicy wontons, glutinous rice dumplings, pork chop fried rice and pan fried pork buns. Half the items were under $10 as they were side dishes and nothing was over $20. The items that amazes my table were the pork soup dumplings, glutinous rice dumplings and pan fried pork buns. The pork soup dumplings had a thin layer of skin and the dumpling was very soupy. This was toddler approved as she ate most of the order. The meat was flavorful and it didn't really need any sauce. The glutinous rice dumplings was the talk of the table. It was not only soft but full of flavor. They loaded up the sticky rice with seasoning and meat and we wanted more. The pan fried pork buns must be eaten with caution. They were burning hot and you needed to make a slit for it to cool down. The bottom of the hh was super crispy and had a nice crunch. Everything else was average or above average. Didn't think anything was bad and it was all a good price. Would definitely be coming back to try their other items.

Came here on a Thursday night for a quick carb fix. We ordered an assortment of dumplings and a stir fried noodle. I was surprised that the food wasn't overly oily/ greasy and lighter on the salt. The stir fry noodle was definitely lighter than typical even in color. The wasn't particularly busy with plenty of parking spaces in the lot behind. There is also an ayce congee section in the restaurant for $2.99 which had three porridge options to supplement your meal.

A Bao dumplings restaurant located at Alhambra area, it wasn't too busy during Saturday night on the weekend... Bao Master is located inside the parking lot, the restaurant is neat n clean enough, faster services with QR code self ordering n delivering, fast n efficiency. I was ordering XLB Xiao Long Bao with pork soup dumplings, good enough not too impressive about taste. Beef fried rolls, fried pork dumplings, pork fried buns!! These items are more tasty n delicious!! It's a pretty good pricing for nowadays!! Recommend for people that like dumplings restaurants!!

Got that dumpling craving and was nearby so gave this place a try. This place has that giant soup dumpling so if you like social media food influencing, give it a try. I personally didn't try but I got a bunch of other items and it was delicious. Price is a little higher but the quality of the food is good. Staff is really nice and made sure to tell me that the dessert, congee, and red bean rice soup was free today. The sign says $2.99 ayce for that part, so not sure if it's only free on the weekdays. But glad it was free for us. Also, definitely try the signature dishes like house special Chinese burger and the crab meat scallion noodles. If you're like me and like a little spice, ask for chili oil! The place also has calming Chinese music that I like so it was a relaxing meal for me.

Order through a qr code from the table, it doesnt matter if theres multiple phones as it updates and tells you who adds it. To me bao masters isnt too salty. I love the fried rice and it had the perfect amount of salt. The pork xlb was good too. It feels like its on the smaller side, but there was 50% soup and meat ratio. The big mac xlb was a disappointment though. I was expecting it to be the size of the steamer. It was alot smaller than i thought and it was basically all soup and a little bit of crab. I dont even think there was pork in it. That was the only reason i knocked a star off. Next time i wouldnt get that but id try their other items.

    Andrea S.

Their xlb was great! I also liked their scallion noodles! Their pan fried dumplings were crunchy at the bottom and nice and soft at the top. It was nice to try their large xlb where they give you a straw to drink the soup inside. It's hard to eat the skin so it makes sense why generally they make the xlb small. The service was friendly and they let me bring in my dog!

Couldn't find the spot at first in the plaza but it is located near a McDonald's. Looked big from outside but was a decent size inside with a good amount of tables and seating space. I am genuinely thrilled to have such an upscale, quiet, and relaxing restaurant right here in my neighborhood. You can truly taste the chef's passion and dedication in every dish. Every time I bring friends here, they are absolutely amazed and delighted by the flavors. We ordered quite a few dishes today. The highlight was the Chilean Sea Bass. The chef served a massive, beautifully thick cut--which is actually the hardest to execute. If overcooked even slightly, Chilean Sea Bass becomes dry and tough. But the timing here was absolutely perfect. It had a gorgeous, golden-brown exterior, while the inside remained incredibly moist, tender, and delightfully springy. The seasoning was spot-on and never overpowering; it wasn't too salty, perfectly preserving the natural, fresh flavors of the sea. We also had the Chicken Bowtie Pasta. I typically avoid chicken dishes at restaurants because they often turn out dry and lack the rich aroma you get from beef or lamb. However, Sage's chef elevates chicken to another level. Rather than using the traditional Cantonese technique of quickly flash-frying in oil (which yields a smooth texture but sacrifices the natural meat aroma), the chef here expertly pan-sears the chicken over extremely high heat for a short time. This creates a deliciously crisp exterior that locks in all the juices and rich flavor. Tossed with perfectly cooked bowtie pasta and cheese, the result is so flavorful and well-balanced that we simply couldn't stop eating! Another great thing about Sage is their incredibly generous portion sizes--we left completely satisfied! We finished our meal with a great cup of coffee and the chef's handmade Tiramisu, drawing a perfect, sweet close to our evening. Highly recommend!

The scrambled is soft scramble. Steak was nicely cooked, that's about the only thing I tried. He devoured everything else without sharing, so I'm guessing it was good. Our niece got the sesame noodles with chicken. It came in a big plate (probably because it's on the shareable menu). She immediately said it was good. So, pretty much you can't go wrong with anything on the menu!

They have a main entrance for the restaurant (which is very spacious by the way) and also an entrance for To-Go orders only. We enjoyed the steamed ribs, (pretty juicy) Xiao long bao, garlic eggplant, and shrimp xiu mai. I wish we knew how long the promotion is going to run for, because I'd go back on try more!

I like my cartilage gelatinous. -Steamed Spare Ribs: Also needs to be cooked longer. The meat was very chewy and hard to get off the bone. -Shrimp with Chive Rice Roll: Came without chives. Asked about chives and was told they ran out of chives. I wish they had told us they were out of chives, we would've ordered the beef roll instead. -Sauteed Green Beans Lunch Special: Super salty. My mom said they took a shortcut and deep fried the green beans and then threw them in the wok, but because of this, it's missing wok hei. -Steamed Tilapia Lunch Special: Not bad, some sections overcooked and lots of scales found here and there. Bill came out to $44 and change. They have a promo at $50, would've appreciated being told that, I would've ordered 1 more dish just to be able to spin a wheel for funsies haha At the end of the day, I get it, it's busy, but I'd rather they take longer to cook something than give it to me faster at the expense of quality. Looks like they prioritize speed over quality. Might come back for dinner, since it was good last time but a hard pass on dim sum and lunch specials here.
