Modern decor dumpling house. Complimentary appetizers include peanuts, seaweed, and black fungus. I ordered: * Pan-Fried Kurobuta Pork Buns - 4/5 ($7.98) * Meat & Kurobuta Pork Soup Dumplings - 3.5/5 ($8.98) * Hand-Pulled Spicy Cabbage - 3.5/5 ($9.98) * Braised Beef Noodle Soup - 2.5/5 ($19.98) The beef wasn't tender enough, and the soup base was just okay. For almost $20, I expected a bit more. The other dishes were reasonably priced and tasted decent. Easy to find indoor parking or you can park across the street

Came here the other day for dinner with my mom. It wasn't too busy so we were seated right away. We ordered the pork and crab soup dumplings and the regular pork soup dumplings. Flavor was good, but the skins were a bit too thin and kept breaking when we picked them up, so we lost most of the soup which was kind of disappointing. We also got the pan fried buns which I really liked. The bottoms were extra crispy and the filling was juicy. The homestyle chicken and egg fried rice was surprisingly good too, had a nice wok flavor. We also ordered the stir fried bok choy which was simple but tasty. They give you a small complimentary appetizer and hot tea which was a nice touch. Overall a solid meal. I'd come back to try more of the menu next time.

A new XLB restaurant in town and it slapped, HARD!!!! The spicy wontons were the best I've ever had, and I prefer it to Ding Tai Fung's. It's different but super flavorful and has a nice peanuty kick. We also ordered the stir fried string beans, which were tasty enough, and their big XLB. This is where I was a bit disappointed - it barely had any filling in it and was mainly skin and soup. It was still very flavorful and tasty, but the lack of meat was disappointing. Restaurant is definitely new and nicely decorated with lots of natural light. Service was efficient and kind. There's a free parking structure next to it, and has multiple levels so it wasn't too hard to find a spot. Will definitely return to try their XLB. Hopefully it has more filling than the big version.

First time was Sunday around 12 & it wasn't too busy yet. Place order through QR code We ordered about 9 or 10 dishes & the total was about $120 which is pretty good I liked the variety of food & how they made their own twists to their dishes unlike the traditional ways of making it (like the spicy wonton had sesame sauce, not my favorite but unique) Tables favorites dishes: shao mai, onion pancake, xlb, green beans The noodles tasted like a restaurant version of Indomie, Chinese burger had a great crispy breading but meat a little dry, chicken soy sauce fried rice was a bit bland, & the large crab xlb was just okay and had little filling I would come back for the favorites & to try other dishes

Went to check out Bao Master in Alhambra since it's been on my list to try. They have been opened for a couple months so decided to pay them a visit. When we arrived there were about 2 other tables there. You order off a QR code and the staff brings your orders to the table. The items were pretty affordable as we ordered a lot of small dishes and sides. For a party of 4 and a toddler we ordered about 10 items. We ordered the cucumbers, pickles veggies, pork soup dumplings, braised gluten, beef rolls, hot and sour soup, spicy wontons, glutinous rice dumplings, pork chop fried rice and pan fried pork buns. Half the items were under $10 as they were side dishes and nothing was over $20. The items that amazes my table were the pork soup dumplings, glutinous rice dumplings and pan fried pork buns. The pork soup dumplings had a thin layer of skin and the dumpling was very soupy. This was toddler approved as she ate most of the order. The meat was flavorful and it didn't really need any sauce. The glutinous rice dumplings was the talk of the table. It was not only soft but full of flavor. They loaded up the sticky rice with seasoning and meat and we wanted more. The pan fried pork buns must be eaten with caution. They were burning hot and you needed to make a slit for it to cool down. The bottom of the hh was super crispy and had a nice crunch. Everything else was average or above average. Didn't think anything was bad and it was all a good price. Would definitely be coming back to try their other items.

Came here on a Thursday night for a quick carb fix. We ordered an assortment of dumplings and a stir fried noodle. I was surprised that the food wasn't overly oily/ greasy and lighter on the salt. The stir fry noodle was definitely lighter than typical even in color. The wasn't particularly busy with plenty of parking spaces in the lot behind. There is also an ayce congee section in the restaurant for $2.99 which had three porridge options to supplement your meal.

Got that dumpling craving and was nearby so gave this place a try. This place has that giant soup dumpling so if you like social media food influencing, give it a try. I personally didn't try but I got a bunch of other items and it was delicious. Price is a little higher but the quality of the food is good. Staff is really nice and made sure to tell me that the dessert, congee, and red bean rice soup was free today. The sign says $2.99 ayce for that part, so not sure if it's only free on the weekdays. But glad it was free for us. Also, definitely try the signature dishes like house special Chinese burger and the crab meat scallion noodles. If you're like me and like a little spice, ask for chili oil! The place also has calming Chinese music that I like so it was a relaxing meal for me.

A Bao dumplings restaurant located at Alhambra area, it wasn't too busy during Saturday night on the weekend... Bao Master is located inside the parking lot, the restaurant is neat n clean enough, faster services with QR code self ordering n delivering, fast n efficiency. I was ordering XLB Xiao Long Bao with pork soup dumplings, good enough not too impressive about taste. Beef fried rolls, fried pork dumplings, pork fried buns!! These items are more tasty n delicious!! It's a pretty good pricing for nowadays!! Recommend for people that like dumplings restaurants!!

Their xlb was great! I also liked their scallion noodles! Their pan fried dumplings were crunchy at the bottom and nice and soft at the top. It was nice to try their large xlb where they give you a straw to drink the soup inside. It's hard to eat the skin so it makes sense why generally they make the xlb small. The service was friendly and they let me bring in my dog!

Order through a qr code from the table, it doesnt matter if theres multiple phones as it updates and tells you who adds it. To me bao masters isnt too salty. I love the fried rice and it had the perfect amount of salt. The pork xlb was good too. It feels like its on the smaller side, but there was 50% soup and meat ratio. The big mac xlb was a disappointment though. I was expecting it to be the size of the steamer. It was alot smaller than i thought and it was basically all soup and a little bit of crab. I dont even think there was pork in it. That was the only reason i knocked a star off. Next time i wouldnt get that but id try their other items.

    Sharon W.

Finally went to try the newly opened Bao Master and enjoyed the XLB! The kurabota pork and crab xlb was very flavorful and had a good ratio of filling and wrapper. Also tried the extra large soup xlb and it was so fun to eat. They give you a straw to drink the soup inside but just need to be careful as it's very hot. Service was fast and friendly. A great place to eat with family or group of friends!

Clean and new restaurant with good, authentic food. Everything came out quickly and the staff was rather attentive and polite. Had their large soup dumpling that you sip with a straw as well as the stur fried green beans, shanghai rice cakes, beef rolls, and pan fried pork baos, everything was delicious

Hidden Gem in Alhambra - Finally Tried It After 4 Years of Driving By!…read more I've lived in Alhambra for the last 4 years and drove past this place almost every day, always assuming it was just another hot pot spot. It never looked super busy, so I kept putting it off. Big mistake--don't let that happen to you like it did to me! We finally went in and ordered a bunch: the Spicy Beef Shank Rice Noodle, Rattan Pepper Sliced Beef Rice Noodle, Popcorn Chicken, Sesame Balls, Popping Brown Sugar Rice Cake, Fried Milk Rolls, and Fried Taro Balls. Everything was outstanding. The noodles were amazing--fresh, chewy, with high-quality ingredients you can really taste in every bite. The broths had that perfect spicy kick without being overwhelming, and the beef was super tender. My wife and I couldn't stop eating; literally everything we tried was delicious. She especially loved the Fried Taro Balls--they were crispy outside, soft and flavorful inside. The sides/snacks were all hits too: the Popcorn Chicken was perfectly seasoned and crispy, the Sesame Balls and Popping Brown Sugar Rice Cake brought great texture and sweetness, and the Fried Milk Rolls were a fun surprise. Service was top-notch--shoutout to Icey, who took such great care of us. One of the best and most attentive experiences we've had in a while. If you're in Alhambra and love good food, do yourself a favor and stop in. You won't go wrong here--highly recommend! 5 stars all the way.

Ordered three items here and all were fantastic. Best noodle in a bowl of beef noodle soup…read moreever--hand pulled noodles just done right and extra noodles are free! Beef roll looked more like a giant taco but was also excellent. In the most convoluted sequence of restaurant occupancy in the annals of Chinese restaurants in the United States, Noodle King has supplanted Rice Hero/Hero's Kitchen/In Joy Lunch in Alhambra in the space formerly occupied by a different restaurant named Noodle King in the 1980s and 1990s. There's a lot to explain here. I used the compound name for the previous occupant because the name on the front entrance was Rice Hero, the back entrance said Hero's Kitchen and the digital menus said In Joy Lunch. I say the old restaurant was supplanted, not replaced, because the old restaurant sort of still hangs around, with a tiny sheet of paper with all 3 old names taped to the front door, and many old dishes still on the menu. Why the three names I don't know. In Joy Lunch had been a popup that operated during lunch hour serving Dongbei food in a space in YYDS Fried Strings in Rosemead. In Joy Lunch then struck out on their own last year with this space in Alhambra, adding the new names. The old Noodle King had been a Taiwanese noodle fixture before moving out in 2003. Since the new Noodle King also serves some of the Rice Hero/Hero's Kitchen/In Joy Lunch items, the same name seems to be just a coincidence. But despite holdover menu items the staff clearly say they're a new restaurant, with the Noodle King himself greeting you at the front entrance and the signage in both front and back now say Noodle King.

FFS, they use super dry, super old chicken as the protein to make the congee with. Everyone knows you ought to use pork. There's zero pork in their congee! They buy the $2.99 kinds from an Asian supermarket, slap some cooking oil and soy sauce onto the wok and call it a day. There's not even a corn starch slurry to thicken the sauce! It's like they either don't know how to cook good food or they think you the consumer can't disconcern what good food is. To add insult to injury, they charge you $11.50 for these piss-poor rice rolls when most restaurants add them to a breakfast combo for free. I came to 101 Noodle Express in Alhambra for a late dinner on a Thursday night. It's located in the…read moresame building as Alhambra Valley Bowl. From the outside, you can't tell the inside has really good space with booths plus tables and chairs, but it does. They weren't super busy at the time... about 5 tables occupied. I was greeted right away by the one server who was working the entire floor. Interior was clean and well lit. Atmosphere was comfortable. Menu has a variety of options... boiled dumplings, pan-fried dumplings, steamed mini buns, stir-fried noodles, regular noodles, rolls & pancakes, side dishes, rice, soup, and beverages. They also have frozen food to-go (just two items... dumplings and dezhou chicken). I got one Steamed Mini Buns (aka Xiao Long Bao), one Stir-Fried Noodles with pork, one Lamb Noodles Soup (with hand torn noodles), and one Jasmine Green Tea with honey. Yes, this seems like a lot of food for one person. I'm not a stranger to bringing food home for another meal. *Steamed Mini Buns - juicy with flavorful pork filling, adequate skin thickness, good size buns *Stir-Fried Noodles with pork - best dish out of the 3, good balance between pork, veggies, and noodles, mild spice level was perfect, portions were reasonable for the price *Lamb Noodles Soup - great amount of lamb and noodles, lamb was tender, noodles were a tad mushy on the edge... they need to be firmer, soup was savory *Jasmine Green Tea with honey - good size cup, tea was a bit bitter, probably needs more honey Food came out steaming hot and timely. Staff and service were wonderful. Yan, the server, was patient and helpful. He did an amazing job working the entire floor by himself. Thank you Yan! Highly recommend this place for their pan-dried and soup noodles. I would come back for more pan-fried noodles and try their pan-fried dumplings. Btw, cash, Zelle, or Venmo payment ONLY for bill total under $50. Bring cash if you don't plan to eat lots.

I have had ones in previous visits that the beef was chewy, not tender. You have a choice of regular noodles or hand torn noodles. Hand torn noodles are more filling since the noodles are much thicker than the regular noodles. They are both good. It is a matter of preference. The minced pork with noodles (aka Jia Jiang mien) is also good. For this visit, I did not order dumplings. But their dumplings are usually good. The service is adequate but don't expect good service.
