    Burrito!
    Tanzeela M.

I would say Barbacoa Agave & Seafood is worth a try when you're in the Oaklawn area. They've got several options to choose from on the menu and it's moderately priced. I visited this location for lunch with a five dollar Restaurant.com voucher and had a delicious burrito and tried a barbacoa taco which was very good. Unfortunately they didn't have the cactus salad. I tried one of the churros but can't say I was particularly impressed compared to those I have had in Mexico and other Dallas area restaurants. Like I said before they've got a wonderful menu and I look forward to trying out other items soon. They've even got a small selection of Mexican sweets.

This place is good! The place itself may be simple, with music blaring to some extent (although not loud enough that you can't comfortably talk to and hear each other), but the food is pretty delicious and inexpensive! We came here for lunch and directly sat down and ordered. The lunch specials are really cheap (on average $6.99): i got the chicken burrito platter (see picture) and it was delicious, and came with rice and beans as well as small "salad" on the side. My friends got the half pound of lamb barbacoa (which comes out in this huge platter that keeps it moist and hot while you dole out portions to eat) and the steak fajita platter (which was a bit on the small side, meat-wise), which they both liked a lot. At the end, we all felt satisfied and full but not having over-eaten, or over-spent for that matter. We got some churros to go, chocolate and strawberry ones, and they were pretty tasty, especially with some coffee on the side (we got coffee at work and at there, YUM)! Good place to grab lunch if you're at work, a satisfying, tasty meal that doesn't break the bank!

Chilaquiles con barbacoa y salsa verde.

Yo comí chilaquiles con barbacoa para desayuno y lo fue rico! Pretty authentic if you ask me and the ambiance definitely reminds me of MX. Tortilla chips are made fresh on site and they were noticeably better than the tex mex places around here.

I was excited for the menudo and I was super disappointed. It tasted watered down.

Closed as of today, looked like a car ran through the building. Not sure if permanent.

Great authentic Mexican food. The place is nothing fancy but good food at great prices not a bad deal at all.

Our event coordinator had already been in contact with each hotel's sales team regarding room blocks, but my fiancé and I wanted to personally see the properties before recommending them to 30-40 hotel room blocks. Although we arrived after sales office hours, Liz at the front desk was exceptionally kind. She walked us through the restaurants commonly used for private events, explained the renovation timeline, and invited us to take our time exploring before returning to the front desk to view a standard guest room. Unfortunately, our experience changed when another employee, who later identified himself as Clayton, a manager, stepped in. It appeared he had been listening to our conversation but had not introduced himself. He abruptly informed us that we would not be able to view a room. We explained that our event coordinator was already working with the sales manager regarding room blocks and pricing, and that we were simply trying to ensure we felt confident recommending the hotel to our family and friends. Despite understanding the situation, he remained unwilling to accommodate the request. His only suggestion was that we purchase a room if we wanted to see one. For us, this interaction spoke volumes. Hospitality isn't just about beautiful rooms--it's about making potential guests feel welcomed and valued. If this was the experience we received as prospective clients considering multiple wedding events and dozens of room nights, it gave us pause about what our guests might experience. As a result, we will likely to move our room block, welcome dinner, Saturday event, and Sunday brunch where we're met with warmth, flexibility, and genuine hospitality from the moment we arrive. The Joule is undeniably a beautiful property, but customer service plays a major role in our decision-making. Unfortunately, this experience left us feeling that our business was neither appreciated nor wanted.

I'm going to full up admit that I did a terrible job getting pictures so you're just going to have to trust me. I got to see and visit with my daughter and granddaughter so was over the moon! We ordered the Grilled Lamb Chop Lollipops and the Brisket Risotto Balls for an appetizer. There are only 3 lollipops but they were INCREDIBLE! The presentation was beautiful! The brisket risotto balls were good. Think "boudain" balls. Reinspired and tasty. I ordered the Duck & Rope Pasta, my other half ordered the Beef Arrarbbiata and my daughter and granddaughter shared the Steak Frites. All of it was delicious! The duck confit in the Duck & Rope Pasta was perfect! Don't be scared on this one. It is worth it! For dessert, we ordered the Ferrero Rocher and HOLEY MOLEY! It was huge and delicious. This dessert is rich with the perfect sweetness that won't bite you in the jaw. It is shareable! Overall, I am so happy we tried Bucket & Rope! The service was amazing and I just can't say enough about the quality of the food and overall experience! Thank you Bucket & Rope for a memorable meal!
