Barsha does NOT disappoint! I wanted to learn about Tunisian food and was so pleasantly surprised by the Tunisian hospitality. At a time when so many businesses can't find help with a pulse, I was amazed at the exceptional experience I had at Barsha. It was a shared table service model. We felt like royalty the way we were attended to. Our water was constantly refilled, the entire team delivered our small plates and took our dirty dishes. The owners also welcomed us and made us feel like family or "regulars". We spilt plates because we wanted to try everything! But with only two people, we had limited stomach space! We tried The Hand of Fatima, Lamb Meatballs, Zaatar Fries and Tunisian Bruschetta. The grand finale was Rose Trifle! The biggest problem we have... we loved it all so much we want to order it again, but also want to try the rest of the menu! Now we will be regulars. I can't recommend Barsha enough! read more

My wife and I spent our 4 year anniversary at Barsha last night and it was an amazing experience. The food was absolutely amazing. We ordered the popular hand of Fatima, beef cheek cous cous, chicken Mosil, roasted eggplant, and the crudo. Each item was delicious and we highly recommend. The owner, Adnan, came to each table to great the guests which made everyone feel special. We joked with him, as a Moroccan who selfishly thinks our food is the best in the world, Tunisian food may have the edge on us now, ha. The employees were excellent and gave us the warmest welcome as well as great service during our time there. To top it off they had a live smooth jazz band which made the atmosphere perfect! This place offers very unique cuisine influenced by foods found in Tunisia! The service is excellent and the waitress' know the menus and offered us great suggestions! The portions are not big which is really good for the opportunity to try multiple items! The special offered was Gumbo(Tunisian style) it was very tasty! They have a couple of non-alcoholic drinks that were unique and worth trying! However, do not miss the almond flower brownie ale mode! Wow! Almost embarrassed my wife by licking the plate!! During a recent visit to the Los Angeles area, my companion and I were kind of stuck for a place to go last minute on New Year's Eve. We called Barsha and the person answering the phone was very nice and told us that they were booked solid for tables, but the bar was open and to stop by so we did The ambience was great. The service was equally as good. There was a gentleman playing classical guitar that included some Mediterranean style music and he was absolutely fantastic! Somebody who may have been the owner or simply the manager, I'm not sure, came to us more than once to make sure everything was good, and that we were happy, and we were! The menu was mostly a "small plates" style, which was fine, and my only complaint, and this is a very minor complaint, There was very little protein on the menu. Most dishes were Mediterranean, and the vast majority were "vegetarian" or so it seemed. There's only one chicken dish which we did order and it was absolutely delicious. My only suggestion to the owners would be, "add some protein - the animal variety" Otherwise, I would definitely return to the place. read more

I was excited to try Barsha's Hermosa Beach location as I'm a fan of their Manhattan Beach wine shop/bar. I was expecting a similar feel to the Manhattan location (a wine bar with some snacks/small plates) so was pleasantly surprised that the HB location is a pretty big restaurant with a much larger menu! FAVORITE FOODS: Hand of Fatima - same yummy dips they have at the MB location. Super cute presentation and helps avoid drinking too much of their yummy wine on an empty stomach! Chicken Liver Pate - MELT IN YOUR MOUTH GOOD!!! One of the best pates I've had. Paired amazingly with the orange wine the server recommended. Grilled Prawns - This was amazing and super flavorful. I am drooling thinking about the prawns right now. I bought harissa for cooking at home after trying this dish!! DRINKS: I had high expectations as I love their unique and high quality wine selections at the MB shop, and they did not disappoint. The servers were very knowledgeable about the wine list and recommended amazing pairing to our food. We tried an "orange wine" (white grapes fermented with the skin left on. yeah I didn't know until the server explained) for the first time and it was SUPERB. Had a different "orange wine" at a different restaurant a few weeks later but Barsha's was much better. Love Barsha. Food is great. Service is great. Only reason it is 4 stars is that they need to understand that as a neighborhood location, they need to think about how to show appreciation from time to time for their regulars. I have brought MANY people there. Brought in a group and brought my own wine...they charged me a corkage fee for every.single. Bottle. I stopped going for a year after that I was so annoyed. Another time had a reservation on a Saturday night and they called 2 hours before that the oven wasn't working and they wouldn't be able to open. Understood. But never said, "sorry, please come in and have a desert/app/glass on us." Again, as a neighborhood restaurant, just need to think about it. read more

This is my favorite spot in the Southbay. The Barsha staff always gives the warmest welcome and clearly aims to give everyone a lovely experience. The food is unique and always satisfying! Our favorites are the lamb meatballs, falafel sliders, and the cauliflower. Their fries are also amazing! On top of that they have small batch wines that never disappoint. We're members of their wine club in Manhattan Beach and you can bring a bottle from their store with no corkage. I highly recommend the Barsha experience! read more

So happy we came here for date night!!! They definitely deserve 5 stars all around. The staff is kind and attentive. The music and atmosphere is fun & comfortable. The owner and/or manager was funny and came by often to joke with us and make sure everything was perfect. Everything was great but food is the real showstopper. I don't think I have ever had Tunisian food before now I want to go to Tunisia just for the culinary adventure! The beef cheek plate was so delicious I literally licked the plate clean and the manager asked if I wanted a job as the new dishwasher it was so spotless. The Fried chicken was juicy and the crust was super crunchy and very herby! It came with a homemade vinegar based hot sauce that paired perfectly with the chicken. Sorry Frank's hot sauce but this was better! They should bottle it and sell it separately. Finally the desert was super unique and once again we left the dish wiped clean when we finished. Had a truly wonderful mid-week dinner. Service from Valerie was top notch and everything we sampled was delicious. The Hand of Fatima starter was served in a beautiful and colorful dish and each dip was devoured. We tried the roasted eggplant, chicken mosli (total yum), za'atar fries, branzino, sumac shishitos and the falafel sliders. We overordered knowing that we would take some of it home and it was all just as tasty the next day. Charming restaurant, friendly owner, excellent service, fabulous food. An unassuming neighborhood jewel. Family-run with caring service and very good food. Lamb meatballs were very good and the beef cheeks were tender excellence. The brik was a delicious discovery while the shrimp and grits a familiar dish done well. Maybe you'll be seated in the tent in the parking lot no less. With either of these choices you, the diner, won't go wrong either since ambiance in either location is created by your party, the food and the superb service create the ambiance. We liked the beef dish, extremely tender meat. The appetizer, Fatima hand with tiny samples of hummus, pesto, tabule salad, etc. was very small, served on a dish formed like a hand and each sample was in a finger. The decor very simple. Service was very good. read more

I went to Barsha for the first time even though I have lived in the South Bay for 10 years I had never tried this restaurant. My fiancee said it was rated a top 10 restaurant in LA in some publication he read. Now I have been to many many restaurants all over LA since food is my career and hobby. I wouldn't personally rate this a top 10 in LA. Not even a top 10 in the South Bay. The atmosphere was pretty, but the restaurant is super small. Mostly counter seating. At first the host tried to seat us outside. They have a tent in the parking lot but it looks just like sitting in a parking lot. They are a wine bar so I tried some wine cocktails. The Rose Sangria cocktail was kind of bitter. The Negroni tasted just like a Negroni but the bartender forgot to add the prosecco to it so the pour was underwhelming for the cost of the drink. My lamb Meatballs were kind of burned but the lentils were delicious. The beef cheek cous cous was my favorite. It was cool to go somewhere new but I don't see myself going back. read more

I had the Roasted Cauliflower (highly recommended). and added the Braised Beed Cheeks. the flavor for the main dishes were outstanding. for the Appetizer? I recommend the Hand of Fatima...served with a side of crusty bread. The "Hand of Fatima" contains: Hummus, Pesto, Harissa and a tapenade. You will not be disappointed. I came here for the third time recently. I'm a little bummed because the service and food portions/quality weren't as good as the first and second time. The food was SO incredible the first times and our waiters were super amazing, but the latest visit was more of a subpar experience. I'm still leaving 4 stars because the dishes are so innovative and overall tasty. My photos are from the second visit, so just keep that in mind. I'm not sure I'd return based on how slow the service was last time (granted, the restaurant was busy), and the prices were the same as the first time but the portion sizes seemed smaller. However, if you haven't tried this place before, I'd still recommend giving it a go based on how good my first two visits were. read more

Tunisian cuisine is what Barsha is about. Even accounting for regional differences among the various cuisines of North Africa - think Moroccan and Egyptian in particular - after eating and sampling quite a number of entrees and appetizers here we like some, we're blase about others, and questioned whether we'd ever return. Why? We love a great Israeli Shakshuka, a fine greek Moussaka and a Moroccan Cous Cous - but here the emphasize is heavily on Harissa spice and being just different enough like mushrooms in the Shakshuka or foregoing the bechamel on the Greek moussaka so that one feels and tastes the loss but vows to go to the source next time. The other emphasis here is on salt - all our food was extravagantly salty - when it doesn't need to be to allow the ingredients to shine through. We had the Mediterranean olives (Hand of Fatima) entree that was basically various olives and a good tapendade in a pretty hand shaped pottery display but nothing else; falafel sliders that would have gained much by dropping the big burger buns, and serving the felafel alone, and the roast Caulflower which left us cold as the steamed Cauliflower despite the harissa and herbs was bland in the extreme. For entrees our group had the Shakshuka which was just ok, though eggs were runny and acted more as an afterthought than the star role they normally command in this dish. The moussaka was okay - probably the best of the lot - but again nothing compared to other moussaka we've had. One in our party enjoyed the Beef Cheek cous cous which was not sampled and finally a fried chicken special which was extremely crispy in a heavy and thick batter that engulfed rather than enhanced the underlying chicken. So would any of us come back? Pricey, overly salty, and in some cases even mediocre, we reserve judgement on that question. And then again perhaps only for the Moussaka sans bechamel. Surely Tunisian cuisine scales better heights than Barsha provides. If not there's always Moroccan. read more

I did it and it did not disappoint. I could not make up my mind having not tried it. But Allie was ready for me. Allie picked the perfect wine, all I said was something refreshing and not too sweet. Then I reviewed a few options I thought about and the recommendation nailed it. However, not having gone, there may be no wrong recommendation. But it was a win no matter what. Barsha Barsha Barsha! I so wanted to like you. Unfortunately you are overpriced and overrated. I have had plenty of fine cuisine and you are ok but not the spectacular 5 stars you are rated on Yelp. The food was decent, but not stand out, just decent Mediterranean style food. Your entree portions are like Tapas. Your appetizers while decent, also extremely overpriced and you charge more for extra bread when you don't give enough to finish your tapas with. Hand of Fathima, while elegantly displayed like a hand, we had to order extra bread twice just to finish it. The Zaapata fries were good, but they are still just fried potatoes. Even if potatoes cost that much in Tunisia, we are still in America. Usually $8 buys you a burger along with the fries Beef cheeks and polenta were delicious, but getting a sample tapas size for full entree $30 is pretty ridiculous. Seafood Stew was like 3 shrimp, 3 mussels and barely any salmon. While it was tasty and I enjoyed the quinoa in the broth with the veggies, It's hard to enjoy something that much when you get 2 sample bites. There are plenty of good restaurants in the area that serve a good seafood bouillabaisse or cipollini that are better and not tapas size for $30. Lamb meatballs extremely mediocre and 3 small meatballs. This one was very disappointing. I would have been happier with Swedish meatballs from IKEA I'm sorry, but I felt pretty ripped off at every turn. Pretty much we got filled up on greasy fries and oily bread. While the food was rich and we did not leave hungry. It was a very unsatisfying and overly greasy experience. 5 stars makes me wonder wtf read more
