Love Barsha! I just went with a group of friends and we tried a variety of dishes. We had the roasted cauliflower, beets, local kale, tounsi brik, tuna sashimi, falafel sliders, parpadelle and branzino. Everything was so good! My favorites were the roasted cauliflower, parpadelle and branzino. Our server Ollie was fantastic. He made the best recommendations and checked on us the right amount of times. Not too often as we were chatting with each other, but enough we didn't feel neglected. The owner came around to say hi and he was so welcoming and kind. Don't let the Big Lots plaza fool you, this restaurant is the BOMB. I loved everything we tried. Starting with the kale Caesar salad and ending with a very unique and flavorful moussaka. We also enjoyed the Bronzino with delicious couscous. Falafel sliders and Zarathustra fries are superior and bursting with flavor. This is a Tunisian restaurant with influence from all over the globe. Very good wine selection. The owners are very involved and their attention to detail and hospitality makes this a warm and intimate atmosphere. There is a stage and the singer performing had some serious chops. I decided to have my partners small birthday gathering here. We have some friends that live in Long Beach and wanted them to share the exact experience with us. We started at an outside table and unfortunately, it started to rain but that didn't stop the amazing food coming out of the kitchen; Chicken liver Pate - Delightful! Came with pistachio and seasonal compote (grape or berry) very light in taste not overly seasoned. House Made Farmers Cheese - Ahhhmazing! Roasted beets, heirloom tomatoes, caramelized grape and mint! Super fresh, one of my favs on the menu Tunisian Bruschetta - Delicious! Tuna conserva, chickpea mash, cucumber, tomato, egg. Barsha is a lovely storefront eatery on Aviation in Hermosa Beach. Because of its shopping center venue, the parking is plentitful in free. With an tented "patio" in front of the restaurant, you do not feel like you are in a shopping center - it feels more like a wine bistro. The service is attentive and friendly but a little rushed. They kept trying to clear the plates! Fantastic wine selection that is reasonable for LA prices. Food was delicious. We started with the chicken liver pate. This is as good at Menashe's. You can see why this restaurant is 101 in the LA Times. Then, it was time for the local kale, which was a super tender Caesar. Finally, the shakshuka was the piece d'resistance. Loaded with veggies and a couple of runny eggs, this was heavenly. I wish that they had GF bread to soak it all up. But, never fear, I used a spoon and scraped to the bottom. This is a cozy little Tunisian restaurant in a strip mall in Hermosa Beach. The restaurant can be easy to miss when driving by since their sign is pretty simple and subtle. They've converted their front parking area to a little outdoor patio. Don't worry, there is plenty of parking in this lot. The inside doesn't look too big but enough to have a small stage for live music on weekend nights. We didn't have a reservation but were immediately seated near the bar at a cozy hightop table by the window (pretty good seats in IMO). I don't get to eat Tunisian food often so the menu was refreshingly different. It's mostly small plate/tapa style we ordered a variety of dishes to share. All the food was great and I particularly like their creative use of different unique herbs and nuts to complement the meats and veggies, i.e. pistachio and chicken liver pate (fantastic!), cauliflower and dill (perfect!!). I've lived in the South Bay for 10 years and have been going here for almost five, even through the pandemic. This is by far my most favorite restaurant in the area. The LA Times included it in its top 101 restaurants in all of LA (second year in a row), it lives up to that honor. If you can overlook the fact that it's in an unattractive strip mall (the only drawback), you will discover really delightful and unique flavors. Favorites are numerous and include the falafel sliders, lamb meatballs, shakshuka, and parpadelle. Kid-friendly menu also included. Very friendly and fast service is a great bonus! As per her recommendations, we got Hand of Fatima, Roasted Cauliflower and Chicken Mosli. Hand of Fatima: the best you could order if it's your first time here. It comes with hummus, harissa, pesto (my fav), tapenade, olives and the toastiest, softest bread! Love love love it! Roasted cauliflower: it's all about the sauce baby! The roasted cauliflower comes with calabrese, almond, and dill tahini sauce. The zesty roasted cauliflower was so well balanced with the dill tahini! Chicken Mosli: for mains we ordered the chicken Mosli with came drenched in a quinoa turmeric broth, tomato confit and smashed baby potatoes. Ah, the chicken was so so well cooked, it came right off the bones. BACK STORY: I've always seen Barsha's high ratings on Yelp so one night we ended up coming here for a last minute date night! AMBIANCE: The outdoor seating / tent set-up outside is not cute/chic like other "al fresco" setups. We asked to be seated inside instead and got drinks at the bar before being moved to our tables. The main seating area inside has a bit of a warehouse-y/industrial feel, mismatched decor on the walls, with a stage in front that looks a bit rustic. The night we dined here, a performer was singing the entire time, one song after another about her failed love life, horribly off-key, and we actually left as soon as we could because we couldn't stand another song. FOOD: - Hand of Fatima (2/5): Fine, small portions of each, nothing standout. - House Made Farmers Cheese (4/5): This was good, super fresh! - Roasted Cauliflower (3/5): This was salty. - Stewed Chickpeas (3/5): This was hearty but otherwise one dimensional. - Roasted Eggplant (3/5): This was salty but otherwise flavorful. - Beef Cheek Cous Cous (4/5): This was good, flavorful and hearty! - Lamb Meatballs (2/5): Super salty, small, we could not finish despite them being so small. - Zaatar Fries (3/5): This was too salty. The special of the day (a seafood stew) was a home run! The whole meal was flavorful and beautifully plated. All the team was so nice -- great ambiance, both the people and the space. Also, loved the ample parking. We celebrated my husband's birthday with the devine fig brownie -- amazing! We are also eagerly awaiting the opening of the El Segundo wine bar. I've been meaning to check this place out for the longest time since it's in my neighborhood. Finally made it twice in one week. The first time it was for a friend's birthday. She and her partner love it here. On a Friday evening, we were able to get a table inside the restaurant (they also have an outdoor tented area). We ordered a few items including the falafel sliders, zaatar fries, stewed chickpeas, and the cajun shrimp with cheesy grits. And also ordered a carafe of the pinot noir. Now I know why my friends love this place. The falafel sliders were amazing. It comes with two sliders, so we ordered an extra one since we were 3. The falafel was soft and tender, topped with caramelized pickled onions, cucumber, feta and labenh was a great combination. The stewed chickpeas were so flavorful served with grilled crusty baguette. We ordered another baguette since it came with only 2. The zaatar fries is served with harissa ketchup and table aioli. OMG, these fries are the best fries I've ever had. The last dish served, was the Cajun shrimp. It was good, but I wish this dish was served first, since the other dishes were so pact with flavor, this dish seemed a little lacking. But If I had this dish first, I'd be happy with it for sure. On my second visit, I brought my friends visiting from out of town. On this visit we ordered my favorites which included the falafel sliders, zaatar fries, and stewed chickpeas. And also ordered the Roasted Eggplant, mussels, and the lamb meatballs. I'm not a big fan of eggplant, but my friends loved it. I don't care for mussels as well. But my friends devoured them, yes, they loved! I had the lamb meatballs to myself, since they don't eat meat. The meatballs were delish and is served on top of labneh. The three of us ordered the pale ale on tap, which was very light and refreshing. On Friday evenings, they had a guitarist / singer when we were there. I don't recall his name, but he was very good. On my second visit, they didn't have a table inside the restaurant, so we were seated in the outdoor tented patio. Didn't have the same nice ambiance as it is inside. I met with some friends for dinner to celebrate an upcoming wedding, and was so impressed by Barsha's menu and service. A lot of places tout gluten free items, but they're only safe for someone with a dietary preference, not an allergy or celiac disease. Our server didn't blink twice when I explained that I have celiac and asked if they could be careful preparing my food, and was quick to point out the best choices and options I could customize to make sure my food was both safe and delicious. We arrived without a reservation during a storm, as they were closing, and they still allowed us to sit for a lovely dinner when they could have easily turned us away. Rihanna made sure we sat and enjoyed a much needed meal after traveling all day and a late flight into LAX. First time visiting, and I was immediately impressed by the decor and set up of the bar in addition to the tables. We were famished and ordered the House Made Farmer's Cheese, the Roasted Cauliflower, Shrimp and grits, and the Papardelle to share. I still can't decide which dish I liked best! All dishes were unique, and the flavors all worked well together. If we had more time, we would have loved to get dessert. Excellent service throughout our meal. This was the first time we tried Barsha. I love the fact that even though I wasn't sure on what to get, the waitress and other workers were very quick with good recommendations and they did not miss. The wife had the beef cheeks and my goodness it was delicious. I went with the spicy shrimp. Strong flavors, great presentation. Price was great for the portions, and we left Barsha a few pounds heavier for that lol. Live music was a plus, and the guys really got into the swing of things as the night went on. All in all, if you have been curious about this spot, take a chance. You might find your next weekend place to bring friends and family along. The five stars are thus for the food and the service. All the employees so nice. Yes, the lamb meatballs are a must. We were also delighted with the beef cheeks served with a light, light polenta, the farm cheese app served with amazing beats. Also side of cauliflower and unique eggplant. The flavor and texture blends are well thought out, and tasted so great. We had five dishes for three, and we all were satisfied. We also had a nice bottle of Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand. Cute wine bar with small bites. Came here on a Wednesday evening around 7:30pm and there were only a couple of other tables. We seated ourselves and the employee came quickly to explain the menu. He was very friendly and left us to our own devices for the most part, which is exactly what was needed. We got a flight of wine (2 reds, 2 whites) which equates to one glass ($20). We got a charcuterie (there's 6 options for the meats so we just got all of it) in addition to the dips and bread plate (it had hummus, arugula pesto, a date spread, and harissa. These things were surprisingly filling and you're given plenty of crackers for the meats. There's a small parking lot. Credit cards accepted. Indoor dining only and they're also a wine shop, so you can pick up bottles here. It has a very local feel and there seemed to be regulars who came in often. One of my best Yelp finds.... I was meeting an old college friend in the area and I used Yelp in my traditional manner. Find a desired area in the map, look up "restaurants" with two $$ and then sort by rating. Then verify if most of the ratings look legitimate, make sure they serve alcohol, scan the menu and photos, then pray that you don't screw up the recommendation. A really cool mom n pop type of place with both intimate indoor space and a reasonable patio. Nice bar, inventive Tunisian/Middle Eastern menu, live music stage and a very hands on owner making sure everyone feels welcome and taken care of. I asked Adnen if he was the owner and he simply stated that he works for his wife. He was a kind and funny host and made some great menu recommendations. We had a Farmer's cheese plate served with beets, heirloom tomatoes and carmelized grapes along with the Hand of Fatima dish. That's a lovely divided dish with hummus, harissa, pesto, olives and tapenade, served with bread crisps. Delightful. My IPA was excellent but they do have an exceptional wine list that the wives chose from. They had an interesting take on moussaka that differed greatly from the traditional Greek version but everyone enjoyed it. The highlight for me was a beef brisket special served with a red sauce over creamy polenta. Amazing! They offer many vegetarian options and each item on the menu also had gluten-free substitutes available. Not heavy on meat options but they do serve a couple of lamb dishes. This is tapas style so all dishes were perfect for sharing, but you can dine as you wish. We split two of the three available desserts and, big surprise, they were marvelous. Live music will start up again in a month or two. That was shut down during Covid. It's kind of a junky old strip mall location so don't expect elegant dining ....but delicious ethnic food, reasonably priced in a very casual spot served by a kind and gracious host. read more

We ordered hand of Fatima, seafood stew, lamp meatballs Tunisian bruschetta and roasted cauliflower. I like the different herbs used in each dish. My favorite is hand of Fatima with hummus/ Harrisa/ pesto/ tapenade/ olives. I really like the taste of pesto and tapenade and olives. The mussels in seafood stew is very tendered, well cooked at right timing. Also they have varieties of alcohol drink to choose. Service: The waiter Ollie is really friendly and knows the menu quite well. We like the wine and the dishes she recommended. Ambiance: we can only sat in Patio as we did not make the reservation and this is quite a popular place during the weekend. With heater, we were very warm and can enjoy the food. This was unique for me. I had prepared myself for a regretful experience. Why? Because I don't like Middle Eastern food, with the lone exception of lamb shawarma ... I thought that Tunisian food was the same as Middle Eastern. It's not, "altho" it has a Middle Eastern influence. I ordered lamb meatballs and experienced tastes that were different from any foods I've had before. The four of us "shared" several other dishes from salads to "small plates." In sum, the food was delicious ... so much for my "preconceived notions." So, I guess "one can teach an old dog new tricks," but I digress. We did not have desert as we had engorged ourselves.
