This location is on the side facing the street. We parked in the parking lot but didn't know they can lock the car inside the gate after a certain hour. Parking in the street might be a wise choice if staying late. Luckily security passed by to try to help us go in. Delicious food with variety of selection to choose from. From steaks to fish to pasta and pizza There was also a bar inside Friendly service and very patient with large groups Family and date friendly atmosphere There's another location in Agoura hills

Have been to the Augora location many times and tried this one soon after they opened. They have worked out the kinks here and dinner was fantastic. Our server Mila was very attentive and sweet. Glad to see they were very busy on a Thursday evening but we were able to get a table. Love the interior as well. Its well decorated and sets the right tone for a lovely evening. We will be back.

I would like to start off by saying the service was very good. Everyone was very attentive and we were seated right away (we sat outside). As far as the food goes, it was very underwhelming. I saw plenty of great reviews so not sure if it was just an off day or what, but not one dish we ordered had any flavor. We ordered two of the pastas on special (which were shockingly ~$40 each, way over priced for what was given for at least one of the pasta dishes) and a side of mushrooms. One pasta dish was a squid ink seafood pasta and the other was a spinach pasta in mushroom cream sauce. Not one thing was seasoned. I don't even think salt was used. And beware of the mushrooms, aside from having no seasoning, they were so spicy! The one good thing we had was the bread.

I went with someone who has been several times before. Their rave reviews lived up to their hype. The pasta was cooked perfectly (for my taste) and that sauce was so so good. The meatballs are wonderful, great that they mix beef & pork. My favorite was the pizza, classic margherita. The crust was so good, quality artisanal rustic pizza. Our server, Daniele, was very helpful with recommendations and service overall. We sat on the patio which was nice at the time of evening we went. If you are hard of hearing or prefer quieter setting I recommend patio as inside was pretty loud amongst the light music and chatter.

Been to Basta several times, and it's been great each time. This time, I got some of the same food items I've had before, and some I tried for the first time. Repeats are pizza and cauliflower. The pizza always hits the spot. Maybe a tad too thin, but the taste is amazing. The mushroom one is my go to. Cauliflower-I feel like the roastedness wasn't quite as good. As for new items, I tried the short ribs, squash, trout, and sticky toffee pudding. The short ribs wasn't so tender and flavor was alright. The squash was also decent. Good to try but wouldn't get again. The sticky toffee pudding was AMAZING tho. I love desserts, and this one hit all the marks for me. Not so sweet pudding balanced out with the toffee and ice cream. I'd come back just for it. Outside is usually where I sit, but there was some construction at that time so sat inside which is pretty cozy. Service is pretty good. Servers came by to check on food and refill water.

We came here twice in a week. Both times, food and service were amazing. We had Josh as our server twice this week. We had to come Back as last time we saw the delicious aged beef's and it looked delicious! And it tasted amazing with the smoke mesquite flavor. We had ordered the ribeye and price was according to how heavy the beef was. We also ordered the zoodles pasta ( that was so so) and the Basta rustic gem (delicious!). Last time we had dinner with friends and did family style where we got to try the various dishes. We had the appetizer which had the calamari and fish (delicious), cavatelli pasta (tasty), sausage pizza, and the whole Chicken (flavorful). For dessert, we tried the caramel pudding (a bit sweet) and the the bread pudding (à la mode. Delicious) Ambiance is more on the dimmed light romantic mood. They have an open kitchen where you can see them cooking though the windows. They have both outdoor seating (with heat lamps) and indoor and bar seating.

The atmosphere was casual fine dining. We went for our anniversary in normal clothes and didn't feel out of place. Very welcoming. The aged ribeye was the best steak I've had outside of my house (maybe ever). The Basta Vodka pizza was far an above any other pizza we've had in the area. Don't get me started on the Mac and cheese (unreal). What surprised us the most; however, was the butterscotch pudding. The flavor reached depths we didn't know were possible with a pudding. A real eye opener. Josh, our server was incredibly helpful, welcoming, and made us feel like friends immediately. I highly recommend experiencing Basta. We will be back.

Basta is the kind of place where you stop mid-bite and just nod. The food is delicious and filling. I have been twice, once for lunch and once for dinner (the menu changes). There is something for everyone to enjoy! Service is prompt, friendly, and check on you as often as they can. There is seating inside and out, and there is also bar seating. You can share a meal with family and friends or have a romantic date night. The butterscotch pudding is very good so make sure to try that at the end of the night! When a place is called Basta, it's basically telling you: stop looking. This is it.

And after so long wanting to try this location, finally here's the perfect chance. Very impressed by the inside of the restaurant with an in full view kitchen, fresh pasta station (you can really look through the window and get hungry). Prompt greeting and we were seated outside in no time. just not to go wrong.. octopus salad, burrata and rucola (just to say Italian way) and a pizza funghi and salsiccia. I haven't been deluded for certain, amazing food, great service and an astonishingly light pizza. Great job to all the staff, I'll definitely see you soon. Ciao e a presto

Gorgeous restaurant with great food. I've been to their Agoura location before and this one feels more open which is nice for the general ambiance. Everyone was very friendly and helpful with picking out dishes.

Wish we could give 6 stars! We've been coming to their Agoura Hills location for years and are stoked they now have a second location in Thousand Oaks. The food is just as impressive and Nicolas who was our favorite server from Agoura is the manager. You can't go wrong ordering anything. Our favorite is the fiorentine and rib eye. read more

We LOVE the new Basta in Thousand Oaks! We visited on their soft opening week and they were already a well oiled operation, with exceptional services. The ambiance was really high end and nice, especially the open kitchen concept and the big bar in the center. We ordered the two meat pastas, beet salad, trout, the whole branzino, and ended with tiramisu. Every dish was cooked perfectly, well portion sized, and beautiful presentation. Would highly recommend, definitely one of the best restaurant in the neighborhood. read more

We were there for my son's 33rd birthday. We had an amazing time! The restaurant is beautiful. The food was delicious! We had appetizers, salads, pasta and the Queen size steak. Great ambience, furnished and designed well. Perfect location next to the brewery for drinks after. Service was perfect! Always love when the server doesn't ask how everything is, especially while we're engaging in a conversation or eating. Food was solid. Cacio e pepe was a but salty, but complimented the 45 day aged ribeye perfectly. Ribeye was seared to a rare, would have preferred it to be served on a hot plate to retain heat. Overall, will be back to try more pasta and pizza. read more

The food was delicious and fresh. The gentleman who took our order upon being seated was kind and professional. And then it went south... after 40mins of waiting we asked the female worker who appeared to be a manager about our order (2 chicken bowls and a simple cheese pizza) and 10mins after that got 2 out of 3 orders. Then waited another 7 minutes for the third order (again after reminding them). By now we'd been there for over an hour. We then had to flag someone to finally bring our check. Takes them another 15mins to bring it. Manager brings the split checks with one tiramisu and 3 spoons to make up for the waiting. Absolutely fails to read the room that we are clearly 3 unrelated adult professionals who probably would not be sharing a bowl of tiramisu! Then to top it off, she had added the darn tiramisu on our check for an extra $14!!!! So many failure points that we were simply baffled after an hour and a half of being there. Let's just say I'm very disappointed. read more

This place checks every box... From the hostess to the in house staff, EVERYONE greeted us and that is rare. The decor was inviting with good music. The menu is great, wanted to get a smaller steak but only smaller steaks were my which is not my favorite cut. Next time try to get someone to share a larger ribeye dry aged. Pastas are homemade and they offer gluten free options which is great. Braised short rib was delish with a nice accompanying sauce. No sides for the second so needed to order something. Service was classic Italian. Available and attentive without rushing us to turn the table. Was able to have a great comfortable meal with friends. We had a fantastic dinner at Basta in Thousand Oaks. Our server, Josh, was friendly, attentive, and made the whole evening even better with his great recommendations. We started with both of their appetizer specials as well as the meatball appetizer. Everything was fresh and flavorful. The margarita pizza had a perfect crust and you could really taste the quality of the Italian imported flour they use. All of their flour-based dishes are made in house, and the three pastas we tried were outstanding. Each was freshly made, cooked al dente, and full of flavor. The absolute standout was the 45-day aged ribeye. It was perfectly cooked and incredibly flavorful, the kind of dish you keep thinking about long after the meal ends. Basta delivered on every level with great food, service, and atmosphere. We will definitely be back. read more

Not a bad experience, food is good, not excellent, pasta needs to be "al dente" not overcooked but what it really bothers me is that they charge $3.00 for a basket of bread and for parties of 6 or more 20% gratuity is included. If I will pay 20% gratuity I expect good service which it was not the case. Overall is a good place but food is not great. Forgot, if you take a cake for a celebration, get ready to pay an extra $24.00 "dessert fee". read more

Food was great, but the serving sizes were disappointingly small. Went early afternoon to avoid the dinner rush and the service really sucked despite not being terribly busy yet. Very inattentive. The staff had three separate arguments right next to us. We got seated right next to a service area so had things clanking around us the whole meal, and our tables were wobbly. I might try again to see if they get their act together in six months because the food was really quite good, but the experience just wasn't up to par. read more

Basta was a triumph! The octopus salad was magnificent. I'm a big guy - 6'3" and 250 - and it filled me up so much so that I ended up taking my Jidori chicken orzo bowl home for dinner. It was also excellent. The service for lunch didn't leave anything to be desired. While I stopped drinking alcohol in 2017, my aunt marveled at the wine selection. Even I appreciated it as I was very partial to wine back in the day. The ambiance was clean, orderly, bright, and professional. read more

We couldn't wait for this TO location to open (we kept asking people at the Agoura Hills location). It's so much closer to Cam so we were excited as we love the AH one so much! We were sick with the nasty bug that everyone was getting so we missed the grand opening. But so happy we got to go a couple of weeks later! We got the tomahawk steak, some pasta dishes & a few side dishes. Everything was so delicious! Saverio cut up the tomahawk himself & the service was top notch! We've had their pizzas at the AH location and so beautifully done! Just don't order a Hawaiian! (Though shhhh, I love pineapple on my pizzas!) read more

Little Calf Creamery and Cafe is a fun little local shop in Thousand Oaks that serves up delicious Ice Cream with some familiar flavors and also some flavors that will spark your interest... -Moorpark Road (their take on Rocky Road) -Roasted Coffee!! -Witches Brew...Spooky!! So, this review is a little strange because I am giving 5 stars because I love Basta and literally eat there 1-2 times a week. But, tonight I had a bad experience, which was a one-off and it had to do with management. Basta deserves 5 stars so I don't want to lower their rating but I had to express my experience in hopes they read this and take into account what went wrong today. My partner and I went in around 3:30-4pm at the TO location. It was not crowded. We let the bartender know we were in a little but of a rush but no pressure as I am willing to wait for excellent food. We ordered one of their phenomenal steaks. Josh, who cut our meat was amazing! Thanks Josh! As he just completed cutting it for us, a woman came to him, blond, straight hair, clearly management as she was not in uniform, and talked to him for a full 3 minutes, whispering in his ear! We sat there, waiting for her to finish talking to him, until he could then put our steak in front of us. Meanwhile, it was getting cold. She could have waited 30 seconds for him to give us our food. I found that incredibly rude and terrible customer service. We got our food after she was done talking to him and the very expensive steak, was room temperature. This was unacceptable, in my opinion, and should never happen. Really disappointed as she should have known better. Or at least apologized to us if it was something so urgent she had to interrupt us getting our food at the temperature it should have been. read more

I recently checked out Basta's new spot on Thousand Oaks Blvd, right across from Tarantula Hill. I happened to walk in during their pre-opening, and I was surprised by how big and beautiful it is--definitely prefer it over their Agoura location. The vibe is super modern/cosy and stylish, perfect for any kind of outing. I kicked things off with a Mamma Mia cocktail, and wow, it was delicious! The roasted rosemary sprig really added a nice touch. I sat at the bar, and the bartenders were super friendly and helpful. They suggested I try the Truffle Cavatelli, and it was fantastic. The service was great, and the owner even brought my food himself, which was a nice personal touch. Overall, Basta's new location in Thousand Oaks is a great addition to the area. The place looks amazing, the service is excellent, and the food is delicious. I'll definitely be coming back often. Basta is a Hidden Gem Right Here in Thousand Oaks! No need to make the trek to the city or the Westside when you have Basta right in our backyard! It's hard to believe this fabulous restaurant is right here in Thousand Oaks. A true gem that keeps on impressing. I really wanted to enjoy this spot, but overall the experience fell short of expectations. The Special Tagliatelle was unfortunately underwhelming--the pasta itself was fine, but the dish lacked depth. Even with truffle cheese on top, there was no richness or balance of flavors; it felt like eating plain pasta with watered down cheese. The Hamachi was a bright spot that was fresh and clean. The N.Y. steak was passable, though not memorable and certainly not something I'd recommend at this price point. The saving grace of the evening was the Lambrusco, which was an excellent choice--thank you to Robert for the thoughtful recommendation and attentive service. Ultimately, while the service was warm and the wine enjoyable, the food didn't justify the cost. For the price point, I expected more finesse and flavor. I likely wouldn't return. read more

Basta is a spacious Italian restaurant with plenty of seating, making it an easy option for a casual night out. Food-wise, there were definite highlights. The octopus salad was phenomenal -- tender, fresh octopus paired perfectly with the potatoes for a dish that really worked. The carpaccio was also a hit, flavorful and well-prepared. The pizza, though, missed the mark. The crust and toppings just didn't come together, especially compared to the other dishes. Service left something to be desired. Our server was a bit off and not very attentive -- I had to ask for my drink three separate times before it finally arrived, which was frustrating. Overall, some standout dishes but an uneven experience that keeps me on the fence about returning. read more

We had such an amazing experience at this restaurant! The food was absolutely incredible, and our server Josh made the entire night even better. He went above and beyond to take care of us, and every recommendation he made was honestly 10/10. Basta Italian Restaurant is an absolute gem! The pizza and pasta were incredible--some of the best I've had in a long time. You can really taste the quality and care in every bite. We have just finished a delicious anniversary dinner at Basta in Thousand Oaks!! The patio dining is lovely and they do a beautiful job creating an upscale yet comfortable ambiance. But what put it above and beyond was the amazing staff! Ludmila was delightful and considerate! She was very warm and informative. She knew all the details and kept me safe with my allergies. I am not usually a big fan of Italian food, but this place completely changed my mind. My favorite dish was the octopus salad and the octopus was cooked perfectly with a tender texture, not overcooked or chewy like I have had at other places. Our server was amazing and gave excellent recommendations for both food and wine which made the meal even better.
