However, there are a few downsides to the experience. The tables are too close together, which can make it feel cramped and uncomfortable. Additionally, the temperature inside can be quite chilly, and the acoustics are poor, making it difficult to enjoy conversation or relax. So there are two Bay Local Eatery in Virginia Beach and this one is by far better IMHO. We initially drove to the other branch but we couldn't find any parking and there were a lot of people waiting outside as well. We ended up deiving to this location and immediately found parking up front. There were also ample parking for another 2 dozen cars! We got in and were told the wait would be 50-60 mins but we ended up getting seated in 31 minutes. We knew that because their super cool app let us know our progress after we gave them our number for the wait list. We ended up sitting by their super comfortable couches while we sipped on some deinks. We decided to try some of the mango and pomegranate sorbet mimosas and sauvignon blanc for my other friend. The mimosas were delicious! We were able to sit down at the table before we finished our drinks and by then we already knew what we wanted to order. We all wanted to try the crab cake bennies, except my friend wanted her eggs to be hard not runny. Then we decided to share the french toast, banging balls, poppin champagne shrimp, candied pecan french toast bites. So let me tell you- my favorites were the french toast bites and the banging balls. The banging balls were these crab cake balls with three cheese melted on top and some delicious sauce sprinkled over it. I also liked the shrimp and the crab bennie but the banging balls were so good the bennies were just okay (even though they were actually very delicious and comes with super crispy tater tots). The frnch toast were just sinful! I kept eating them even though I was already full. Staff were great and friendly. I gave four starts instead of five because I overheard the bus boy tell our waitress, Erica, that one of the bennies was wrong and they're all runny eggs. But they still served it to my friend and they knew it was wrong. My friend didn't want to send it back but I made sure our waitress knew that we knew the order came out wrong. Besides that, everything was great. Will definitely be back to try other things. But the banging balls and the frnch toast bites are definitely something we'll be trying again! read more

Had the chance to check out Bay Local Eatery on my recent trip to Virginia Beach, and had a very enjoyable experience! The place has a fun vibe, lots of booth seating, and very favorable Yelp reviews. When I saw totchos on the menu, I knew I had to give it a try! They come served with the cheese sauce on the side, which was a fun touch though meant there was a bit of an uneven distribution. Lots of flavor packed in, though all those raw jalapenos had my mouth burning! For my entree I got a caesar salad with crab cake, of which I enjoyed the crab cake a lot but the salad was a little lacking in the dressing department for me. Our waitress was very nice and patient with our crazy toddler, who had just been freed from her carseat after the trip down from DC so she was a little extra rambunctious, lol. If I lived in the area, I could see this as being a standard spot for our family to dine, for sure! read more

Just leaving and we couldn't be happier! Service was amazing, the staff was friendly. There was a bit of wait so we waited in the lounge and ordered drinks for ourselves and the kids (Ruby Red amd Margarita for the adults, apple juice and chocolate milk for the kids). We were seated within 15 minutes and the drinks were well made. We enjoyed the breakfast burrito, short stack pancakes, oyster bennies and the Local burger. The food was great. Sat on the patio. Sun was killer but they had no problem switching us to a shaded area after a table was finished. Host and server were both prompt and nice about everything. Not fake about it either. Always nice to not feel awkward about asking for things. I got chicken and waffles that were very good. The wings ended up being the best part for me though. It's easy to say wings are wings, but these were crisp on the outside and juicy in. Sauce added prefect flavor without over powering. I was very happy with them. My iced coffee hit the spot as well. Server was on things the whole time even though she was obviously busy. Host continued to work the entire time we were there, which is hard help to find. Great staff. Went to another breakfast place closer to the beach the next day that is a lot more well known. Huge mistake. This place is many times better. BEWARE of long waits!! Especially on sundays. it will be packed by 10am. just make sure you have your whole party while you wait because they tend to skip parties if they're not complete. they don't just go back to your party if you get skipped because they only have so much tables available at the same time. This place has one of the best brunch food in town. My fav is their shrimp and grits, which has a pretty big portion! My friends and I ordered their humongous (We has to stand up to be able to drink from it lol) sorbet mimosa, which 3 of us (struggled to finish) shared. I'm sure it can be split into 3-5 people but for the price of it, I recommend you splitting it 5 ways because it's not that worth it for the price. So we get there and they tell us it's a 30 minute wait. To me that's not bad because I already knew how great their food was but my friend was giving me the side eye and I had to ensure her it was worth it. We finally get inside and get seated. The decor is wonderful! We had Summer as our waitress and she was super sweet and helpful. We ordered our food and it took maybe a good 20-25 minutes for our food to come out and they were jam packed with customers! All of our food was hot and delicious. I told Summer that I wanted to place a to go order and she informed me that I should order it then in order for it to be ready by the time we were ready to leave because the kitchen had orders for big tables which meant it would take about 15 minutes. I went here after a brisk walk in Botanical Gardens, and I'm glad I came. The food was phenomenal! The service was super friendly and the ambiance was relaxing. French Toast bites looked great, but I didn't get them because I'm allergic to pecans. However, the smoked salmon eggs Benedict was great! Oh goodness. I have enjoyed so many wonderful meals from bay local I don't really know where to begin. If it's your first time, you HAVE to try the banging balls. They're crack on a plate. Tons of crab meat and spicy sauce deep fried to perfection. Trust me on this. Share with a friend or eat them all yourself (no one will judge). I typically go for the Big Al, which consists of a homemade biscuit stuffed with cheese and bacon covered in sausage gravy. It also comes with a side of hash browns or tots. Get the tots. They're amazing. My fiancé always gets the chicken and waffles and he loves it, too. Said the portion is just right and he always leaves feeling full. Another favorite of mine is a breakfast burrito they had as a daily special one day. It was stuffed with potatoes, sausage, bacon, cheese, eggs, onions, tomatoes and black beans drizzled with sour cream and another Siracha-type sauce. Absolutely delicious. Anytime friends come in town I always bring them here. Great for groups! However I HIGHLY recommend coming here early on the weekends unless you want to wait at least an hour to be seated. Came here this morning right when the restaurant first opened with my husband even thou our hotel offered a free hot breakfast ! We were both so disappointed! My eggs were cold , I asked for sausage and received bacon instead , I asked for jelly and had to remind our waitress after my breakfast was almost gone and then she comes with the bill and tells us that 18% gratuity is already added on your bill - we were both in shock being big tippers yet whether you get good service or not they take out there tip ! I showed up this past weekend around 11a.m. I can be very impatient and not one much for lines so when they told me the wait time was an hour I bounced. I decided to come back that following Wednesday around the same time. The house was packed but, there was no wait time and I was seated immediately. Had I known how great the service and how awesome the food was I would have participated in the hour long wait the first time. Interior: Bay Local has a milinial hipster contemporary design with a dash of classic diner feel. The establishment is very clean and nicely organized from booth & table setting to bar/bar stool seating. Customer Service: Wish I could remember the waitresses name but, she had the most awesome service. She took time to explain the menu and the restaurants flexible item substitution policy as well as answering all questions about the menu items and daily specials. No sooner from the moment I ordered I got the food delivered piping hot asap. I'm talking from app to entree the food was out in less than 10 minutes. Quality: As stated in the customer service bullet, the food delivery came out fast, hot and, fresh. I ordered the Bangin Balls for an app. It was crabcake balks dressed in stringy melted cheese drizzled over with remoulade sauce and topped with bacon bits. Talk about flavor explosion! I ordered The Kitchen Sink as my entree (an item posted on their chalkboard by the bar as a daily special but, not found on their menu). It was a bed of tots fried crispy to perfection blanketed by a breakfast bowl mix of eggs, bacon, sausage, ham, and cheese. All I can say was that the portion size was ritchous and the flavor profiles combined with the crispy tot texture was nothing short of amazing. This place deserves 5 stars but, I'm a hold out for consistency. I definitely plan on coming back when I'm back in town and certainly will do a review update. If service and quality remains the same or they find a way to make it even more awesome than it already is, they are certain to get that fifth star. I highly recommend this place. He is really outgoing and has a really bright personality, which is a real contrast to the weather outside. So 5 stars there! We ordered the seafood chowder, today the seafood is shrimp and scallops. So, you know how most chowder, you get all that seafood at the bottom of the bowl? Yeah, that's not how they do it here. It is packed full of shrimps and scallops, I took a spoonful of what I thought was potatoes and not was I wrong. Huge chunks of scallops, it is the small pieces that were the potato.... Yummmm. I suggest just making the chowder a meal, it is really thick and hearty. We also, got the power bowl, with fresh catches fish, today the fish we got was rockfish. We got poached eggs, and applewood bacon. The fish was seared, very tender. So, I don't think there is much more to say. So all in all, it was a good experience, good atmosphere, good a service, good food. It is a good short stop experience. If any of my friends tell me they're visiting Virginia Beach, I'd definitely recommend this place. read more

The food is great! The atmosphere is casual, the portions are good, parking is good and they're open til 11- gotta love that. In this area that's a real plus because most restaurants still roll up the side walk and kill the lights by 10p. But on double date night after a 3 hour movie - that simply will not do! So grub was mandatory- and grub was achieved! Admittedly I've been here before just never reviewed it for some reason. But the food's bangin and everything I've ever had was good. This night we arrived at around quarter to ten and they seated us quickly and the food rolled out just as quickly after ordering. I had the blue crab Mac n cheese and old bay fries cuz carbs gimme life . Sadly, i had the smallest portion at the table. The portion is good sized, I'm just greedy lol ‍..And as the biggest guy at the table having the smallest plate of food seems...wrong lol. I should've gotten more- won't make that mistake next time! So anyway my wife had an incredible looking slider plate and the other couple got some fantastic looking burgers. Went on a Wednesday around 10:30am on a non holiday, non summer week, and there was still a decent crowd there, and for a good reason. The food is excellent. The two of us ordered as if were a party of four, ate most of it anyway, and waddled out without a shred of regret. Solid service (staff work together to bring out food hot and clear the tables), the food comes out fast/together/hot, the potatoes are crispy, the strawberries are fresh, eggs are not over cooked or too runny, the seasoning is just right, and everything is presented well.
